*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* chap 22*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
- 2 days later, night -

Asia watched from the kitchen table as Bulma headed upstairs, leaving the two other-realm girls to themselves for the night. Asia looked across the table at Autumn.

“Another successful day I think” Autumn said after a minute or so of silence.

Asia swallowed her sip of her drink before nodding an affirmative.

“Keeps getting better and better” Autumn continued with a self-satisfied smile.

Asia just smiled, taking another sip before setting her cup down and hunching on the table to add to the conversation.

“So let's review our new life so far. It's been almost 9 weeks now. All of our abilities have improved in an incredible way; we can even fly and manipulate energy with some nice skill. And, all to be ready for these aliens that only Trunks knows anything concrete bout, since he has briefly faced them before. What an adventure to be wrapped up in.”

“Well, that pretty much sums it up” Autumn agreed with a nod. “I wonder…”

Asia looked at Autumn questionably in the moment Autumn paused.

“I would have liked to see what Azure's first training session was like.” She looked at Asia, who also seamed to be thinking back on that first full day. “She used ki in that last moment, not for very long, but she did use it - that, at the time, should have been impossible, shouldn't it have?”

“To be honest, like I said on that day, I'm not sure what to really make of her anymore” Asia revealed as she sat back in her chair. “In some ways, I'm glad that we are separated in this training, really only seeing her briefly on most days. I can't really say specifically why. Just, something about it is…I don't know.”

Autumn looked at her curiously. “Are you afraid of her?” she then asked.

“I don't know about afraid, but, just, uncertain.” A pause before she continued. “I've been more concerned about getting situated to everything, so, I've largely not paid much attention to most things regarding her.”

Autumn studied her best friend for several moments before speaking. “It's been somewhat the same for me.” She admitted. “But, as things have started to fall into more of a pattern, become more used to everything, well, something I heard made everything surrounding her come back into question. Her skills, what she knows, how she pulled off that ki ability that day… and how she came to live with my mother and I….”

Asia nodded in agreement and Autum's pause. She then continued “So now, what has changed, I wonder…”

Asia shrugged. “Not seeing her much, it's hard to tell.”

“Which, I'm curious about.”

Asia looked at Autumn questionably, then asked, “What was it that you heard?”

Autumn leaned back into her chair as she continued. “Azure seams to be gone. I overheard Bulma mention to Trunks, the older one, that she's been gone the past 5 days, as if she vanished or something”

“Really? It doesn't seam like anyone's worried about it, though” Asia commented. “I mean, despite Azure being Azure, they wouldn't take her disappearance lightly. So, one of them must know where she is, right? My guess would be on Vegita at least.”

Autumn gave it a thought and nodded. “I'm tempted to ask why she's suddenly disappeared. Not so much out of worry, I have to say I'd be lying if I said I haven't shared some of your uncertainty, however, the development of the past 5 days makes me wonder...”

“And speaking of which…” Asia paused and sat up, then hunched onto the table.

“Autumn. Do you think anyone has caught on? How do we break this to Gohan? I think that we should tell him -“

“Asia.” Autumn interrupted. “How could anyone know? We've been training by ourselves for the last few days, and mostly with Gohan since we've been here. And with everyone else concentrating on their training, and being that we aren't on a level of a Saiya-jin, I don't think much notice has been on us. But, in any case, I've called up our now good friend Krillin a little while ago. We're on for tomorrow. Just in case Gohan starts to think it's weird that we've been wanting training exclusively on our own all the sudden.”

“You think that he would?” Asia asked.

“I'm not sure really. Compared to Gohan we're not much of anything. And it's only natural to want to spar with someone within the same range of one's self don't you think? Gohan would understand something like that. So don't worry. When it's right, we'll let him know. But right now, let's just keep this to our selves. Just for a little longer I want to try to truly understand this first you know? I have to keep at it, at least for a little longer. At least try.”

“I understand. But I'm a little nervous. What if -“

“Look, Krillin is a human is he not? If it seams like your slipping control, we'll just take a break. Besides, how much of this Earth have we seen? Hardly anything. We could use the break as a chance to go into the city at least for a couple hours. We're not Saiya-jin. We can't train for hours and hours and hours at a time. Krillin would understand that.”

Asia nodded. “All right. That sounds good then” She then agreed.

“Cool” Autumn said with a nod.

“Maybe just a tad deceptive.” Asia added.

“Maybe slightly. But it's for a good reason.”

Asia nodded in final agreement. “Deal.”

Autumn took another sip from her cup as Asia slid back into the back of her chair again. A few moments later Mirai strolled into the kitchen, seeing the two girls sitting at the table.

“Hey. What are you two still doing up?”

“Having a little chat is all” Asia said with a smile. Mirai nodded softly. “I see. Is anything wrong by chance?” he asked curiously.

“Nope” Autumn answered as Asia only shook her head.

Mirai nodded. “Alright. Well, good night then”

“Night” they both chimed simultaneously as Mirai headed off. Unknown to them, Mirai paused for a moment, looking back towards the kitchen for a couple seconds. Hm. He then continued on his way.

Autumn and Asia looked at each other for a moment. There was silence before Autumn sighed and rolled her eyes. “Don't get paranoid,” she said as she got up and placed her cup in the sink. Asia only looked at her.

“Come on. Let's get to bed,” Autumn advised as Asia rose from her chair and also placed her cup into the sink before the two girls walked up stairs.

<><><><><><><><>& lt;><><><><><><><><>< ><><><><><><><><><> ;<><><>
Mirai walked off the platform of the `house' area of the hyperbolic time chamber, down the 3 flat steps into the white land of space. He kept walking until he could see a figure in the distance. Getting closer he stopped when the figure he saw turned out to be his father, standing in his customary pose. Mirai's sword lay a couple feet in front of him.

“Weakling” his father stated with cold softness.

Mirai blinked. “What?” he whispered.

Vegita kept his same tone. “Weakling. Pick up your sword.”

“No” Mirai answered a little more loudly with some firmness.

“No?” Vegita smirked questionably. “Do it. Now.” Vegita demanded.

Mirai only looked at him with question. “What is this about?!”

“Then die.” Vegita stated as he levitated slowly into the air. He turned his body to the side with his arm out stretched, palm facing Mirai with his thumb bent inward and raised his ki as he went into his 2nd Super Saiya-jin form.

Mirai watched curiously as Vegita powered up.

“What are you doing!?”

Vegita's attack was his answer. “Big Bang Attack!!!”

Mirai gasped in surprise and horror as the deadly beam of ki headed straight for him.

“I can't block or avoid that!” he said aloud in horror as he almost in slow motion saw the beam moving towards him. Shortly enough the ki enveloped him. He cried out in pain for what seamed to last for a minute before the ki vanished around him and he fell onto his back on the floor.

Mirai laid in both pain and shock. He realized that he should be in a lot worse of a condition than he was at the moment from an attack like that.

“You are no Saiya-jin. What a joke,” he heard his father say from a little distance away.

Mirai slowly sat up. What sounded like metal grazing the floor turned out to be his old sword sliding towards him. Mirai stopped its movement as it reached him, grabbing a hold of the handle. Slowly he stood up, and barely blocked the short burst of ki being shot at him.

“Stop it!!” he yelled out hotly.

“Make me.” Vegita said softly as he came into view, descending from the air calmly. “Or can you? I don't think so.” Vegita sneered as he touched ground.

Mirai growled.

“My time is better spent with a human who can fight then a half-breed with my blood flowing through him. How disgusting. You disgust me. Die.”

“What! How dare you!” Mirai bit back.

No. How dare YOU.” Vegita countered. Behind Vegita in part shadow stood two familiar faces.

“What? No” the two figures came into full light behind Vegita. “Not possible. You're dead! Both of you! I killed you!”

The silkily calm voice of the male countered. “No. Actually you didn't, because, I'm still here. And it's time to play.”

His female twin looked at him. “What a child.” The female twin said to her twin.

“Lighten up. Let me show you how fun it is to play,” he responded. At once, Android 17 and 18 charged straight for the bewildered Mirai Trunks.

Trunks went from bewildered to serous in a few moments before the two androids could reach him. Dropping the sword, he swiftly leaped into the air, and with ki in both palms of his hands he shot at them. Both androids moved swiftly to their opposite sides avoiding the blast. During that action Mirai focused on 18 first, dropping down in front of her and jousting his fist into her torso. She paused and looked up at him with a calm face before exploding into nothingness. Trunks immediately had a look of confusion on his face.

Swiftly he turned around at the smirking of 17. “Good move. Try this one.”

17 brought Trunks' sword from behind his back into full view. Pausing for a second 17 then charged at Mirai, swinging the sword into a long diagonal slashes that Trunks avoided. 17 followed by a ki blast at Trunks' middle. Mirai was hit and fell to the ground onto his back. 17 dived completely vertical towards Mirai, sword above his head at the ready to pierce through Mirai's own head.

Mirai creased his brows and shot his hands in to the air. 17 stopped mid air, reverting him self into a diagonal floating position. Pulling his arms back he raised the sword in a position to throw it - angling it at Mirai's heart. He visibly gathered ki and let the sword go, in Mirai's direction.

Mirai, who had gathered ki in his hands shot it upwards at 17 who was hit full force with the ki and promptly disappeared, right as Mirai blinked out of the way of the sword as it dove into the floor. Reappearing Mirai noticed the absence of 17, and was promptly confused. Neither attack should have destroyed the androids.

“Don't tell me that's all of your fighting spirit.” His Father's voice came from behind him.

Mirai turned around, placing his hand on the sword. Vegita then shot at him. Startled Mirai took a step backwards, and then was met with a swift blow to his head, knocking him down to the ground. Vegita easily lifted the sword from within the ground. Smirking, he slashed Mirai's torso. Mirai cried out as it began bleeding.

“Fucking little boy,” Vegita readied another swing as Mirai faded and reappeared in the air. Vegita laughed, not bothering to look up. Mirai touched the bleeding scar in disbelief.

“What the hell is going on?!” Mirai cried as Vegita shot straight into the air looking Mirai dead in the eye.

“Weakling.” Vegita said right before he swiftly landed a powerful punch to Mirai's head, who then fell hard to the ground. Vegita landed right beside him.

“Weakling. You call your self my son? You dare call me father? I don't father weaklings.”

Vegita gave a strong kick to Mirai's side, which lifted him a couple feet into the air before bouncing and rolling on and off the ground a few times before he stopped moving.

Mirai coughed up blood before getting up as he saw his father advancing with sword at the ready. Trunks managed to stand and attempted to power up - to find that he couldn't.

“What? No!” he yelled out in frustration. “Why? I … can't go Super Saiya-jin!”

Mirai doged a couple of punches thrown by his father. Vegita smirked as his foot connected with Mirai's chest, sending him backwards and on to the ground.

With a leg, Vegita stomped on Trunks' stomach. Mirai screamed out, and then screamed louder as the blade of his sword went through his shoulder as his father stabbed him. Vegita smirked before yanking the sword out of his flesh. Mirai laid for a moment in pain and astonishment.

“Weakling” Vegita spat again.

“I am not weak!”

Vegita laughed at his son's reply. Trunks then yelled out as he gathered as much ki as he possibly could.

Vegita only continued laughing. Trunks growled and grabbed Vegita's leg that was on his chest, throwing his leg, and the rest of Vegita's body to the ground beside him. Vegita only continued to laugh.

Shut up!!” Trunks yelled. Vegita gave him no mind as Trunks tried to stand. He was still steadily bleeding from his chest wound and freshly bleeding from his shoulder.

“Why!?” Mirai almost whispered desperately. Vegita abruptly stopped laughing and looked up at Mirai.

“No son of mine is a weakling. You are not my son”

Vegita flipped up into a fighting stance, sword left on the ground. Mirai was prepared this time as Vegita started a short round of punches and kicks that Mirai countered - with great difficulty.

Vegita stopped with his barrage. He then smirked. Mirai grunted as he recognized the smirk as one of taunting.

Stop it” Mirai said violently as he punched at his father. Vegita moved sideways to avoid the punch but not far enough to avoid contact - and Mirai's fist went to and through Vegita's shoulder.

Mirai looked at his father, shocked. Vegita looked from his shoulder to Mirai's eyes, and then smirked. Lifting his lower body Vegita kicked at Mirai's side - which threw Mirai backwards and withdrew the now bloody fist violently from his father's shoulder.

Vegita then shot up into the air and extended both his arms out to his sides, and ki started to gather in his hands. It took a few seconds for Mirai to even notice this action as he was examining his hand. He stumbled slightly as he felt himself starting to loose energy and then felt his father powering up, before looking up himself.

“No. You can't. You won't.”

Vegita smirked. “Wont I?” he challenged.

Mirai looked at the sword. Moving towards it he picked it up.

“I dare you” Vegita called to him.

Fine” Trunks said vehemently. Summoning up some ki he still had, he aimed, then threw the sword, which pierced through Vegita's neck. Vegita laughed and Mirai looked at him with complete, horrified confusion. One of Vegita's hands let go of the building energy and grabbed the blade, slowing pulling it out of his neck. Blood soaked the blade and coated Vegita's chest. Flipping the sword around so the sharp side faced Mirai, Vegita threw it back at his son, piercing through his son's torso.

Mirai was thrown backwards a few feet. A great yell from his father preceded Vegita re-powering his Super Saiya-jin 2 form, ki strong in both hands again. Slow motion in Trunks' eyes, Vegita pulled his arms slowly together, and when they met, Vegita called out the attacks name.

Final FLASH!!!!

Mirai's voice left him as the blast careened towards him. He felt himself being ensnared by the killing blast; slowly he felt himself being torn and dissolved, as skin slit, blood flowed, flames developed inside and outside of his body. The sword seamed to widen and tear at the same time. Mirai felt himself die, to the snickering voice of his father.

<>~end dream~<>

Mirai jerked awake with a short yell, panting heavily. He touched his head to find he was slightly sweaty. Sharp spikes of pain then radiated throughout his body. Closing his eyes and clenching his fists while biting back painful yells, he focused on the pain particularly radiating from his upper arms as he tried to calm himself down.

“Damn it” he said softly as a few tears escaped his closed eyes. A couple of deep breaths coupled with raising a little bit of ki and holding it before letting it go finally calmed him down. “I died. And I could feel it” he said softly aloud. He continued to lay unmoving in his bed. “None of them have been as bad as that. None.”

He then heard the door creak and immediately rose slightly on to an elbow, other hand at an attack-ready position to the door. “No” he though with fright, thinking that he may still be dreaming.

The door opened partly, enough for a small child to walk through, and then closed again. Cautiously, Mirai dropped his hand and fully sat up. The small figure was Chibi, he saw after a few moments, standing calmly near the door. Mirai, still being cautious, hesitated before calling out his name.

“Trunks” he stated more than asked.

“Yea” was the soft reply as a light turned on, thanks to the little Trunks. Mirai quickly sank into the darkness of his blanket at the sudden brightness.

“I heard you yell out” Chibi stated after a moment.

Mirai slowly dropped the blanket as his eyes re-adjusted, and looked at the Chibi. “I yelled out?” Mirai asked cautiously.

“Yea” Chibi replied back.

Mirai paused as he thought up a reply. “I guess. Just... dreaming bout a battle”

“What battle?”

Mirai looked at Chibi for a moment. “Is something wrong? Did you have another nightmare?”

“No” Chibi replied calmly.

Mirai looked at the Chibi with slight curiosity. “Well then, why are you awake now?”

“I wanted a snack,” he said with a shrug. Mirai paused before a small grin spread on his face.

“I want to know bout your battle” Chibi then stated a little more seriously. For a moment Mirai took on a look of dread, not wanting to remember the `battle' he just dreamt of, but then quickly changed his expression to one of contemplation.

“Well, I don't know...”

“Please? I'm not tired” Chibi pointed out.

`Yes, you are' he said to himself knowingly. “Well, ok” Mirai conceded, rushing to think of one to tell his young self.

With a smile, Chibi moved to sit across from Mirai on the bed.

“I'm not sure what battle to tell, my dream had more than one” Mirai said to him.

“Broli. You fought him before right? Tell me that one”

“Alright.”

As Mirai started telling a modified version of the battle with Broli, Chibi slowly started to lie down and eventually fell asleep within a couple minutes of Mirai's retelling, as Mirai thought would happen. Mirai considerably calmed at the site of the young boy sleeping.

“Thank goodness,” he said in a thankful whisper, as it seamed that none of this last dream reached the dreams of his young self, nor any of the white lies. Or, if anything did, he's too tired to truly pick up on it. After a little while, slowly, Mirai picked up the young child and headed to put him back into his own room.

<><><><><><><><>& lt;><><><><><><><><>< ><><><><><><><><><> ;<><><>

“There they are” a softly deep voice in the darkness said sullenly.

“Yes. I see.” The female replied in a similar tone.

“The alliance must hold, my daughter, for now. You understand?” He stated softly.

”I do,” she affirmed resolutely.

The two moved out from the darkness. The humanoid male was tall, with a dark maroon skin tone. His hair flowed from the base of the head, all the way down to lightly rest on the floor, straight except for the light curls at the end, touched with a mid-maroon tinted brown hair color. Light strands of soft material of a very light violet color dangled, just missed touching the floor, from both of the back-length shoulder appendages.

A regal cape flowed behind him, the same color of the strands with various round-like designs connected with the puffy turtle-neck collar, long-legged and sleeveless black body suit with an elaborate designed sash of the same color, added with violet-lined metallic forearm brace on both arms and the black diamond-shaped stone imbedded in his forehead, a little bigger than any other of the race, which designated him as Royalty.

Standing next to him was his daughter, dressed in the same royal manner, with exception of her suit color, which was a bluish-purple. Her hair was thigh-length, curly, and was a little darker than her fathers.

They stood in front of a plush bench long enough to seat about 4 bodies, which was upon a lightly covered platform which was about a foot off of the ground, which seamed to be lifted up by a slanted rug-like material that connected the platform to the ground. The two royals looked around them. The meeting was being held in their outside throne room. Lining the throne area was the highest of guards; 3 on each side of the Royal father-daughter pair and 3 each on either side of the ramp that led to the royal throne platform.

And from there, The Royalty waited, and their guards stood respectively still but alert and ready at a moments notice to jump to action, armed only with something that looked like a wooden pole, but could be used in a number of ways by those who knew how to wield it with the utmost talent.

They all waited with uneasy silence as from the 3 figures advanced to the throne; all 3 were familiar.

”What is she doing here?” The young princess said with some astonishment.

”Patience. Frieza will explain.” Her father stated with almost indifference.

<><><><>

Frieza floated in his chair with Zarbon walking beside him. In front of them was Suika, with a sick smirk gracing her face, dressed in her Saiya-jin armor with one addition: a thin slightly-decorated, sliver collar-like necklace around her neck. From that collar a thick sliver band of string-like material attached to the back of the necklace had its end at Frieza's floater chair.

The royal daughter and Suika matched eye for eye as the group of 3 took their last steps to the small ramp. As Zarbon and Suika stopped, Frieza, still in his chair, moved up the small ramp. The royal king gave a subtle signal for his guards to keep their position as both he and his daughter moved slightly to the side to make room for Frieza in his chair.

The Augin-jin that had come to see the arrival of Frieza were silent and waited almost solemnly for the meeting to begin, being sure not to cast too long of a look at the female Saiya-jin. All except for the Augin-jin princess, who held Suika's sharp and evil bluish black gaze, none to happy at the Saiya-jin's presence. Beside them, the meeting began.

“Lord Frieza” The Royal king began with ridged respect. “What is the announcement that you had wished to make about the alliance?”

“Ha, well, no small talk? What a pity,” Frieza interrupted with some sarcasm.

“Apologies, but you made it seam like it was urgent. I did not want to take up your time.”

Frieza smirked at the king. “It's good to have faithful servants!” he said with a laugh. A look of disgust left the king's daughter's face at the comment. Suika glanced at Frieza, as did the surrounding guards.

“Lord Frieza,” the king spoke, with amazing skill as to not let his reaction of disgust show though: “The alliance that has been put in place -“

“The alliance you have is with my brother. But this is my empire you are in. Don't forget that. And, to make sure that you don't forget that or try to alter this pathetic `alliance' with my dear brother, you're getting a watchdog. I think you know her…”

Frieza pointed at Suika, and immediately mumbles could be heard throughout the crowd.

“We are an honorable race. There is no need for such insurance for corporation to Koola's set alliance.” The king intruded firmly as Suika gave an indifferent look at Frieza, who smirked at the king.

“If I feel like using you ugly lizards then you'll know it. Suika will see to that. Otherwise your Koola's pathetic problem.” Frieza said with some disgust at the last phrase. Murmurs went through the crowd again.

“Suika.” Frieza called. Zarbon reach over with a smirk, removing the necklas from Sukia's neck.

Ki had already begun to gather at Suika's palms that were, for the moment, resting at her sides. Suika bowed at Frieza. “Lord Frieza.”

“I think you should re-introduce yourself”

Suika smirked and rose a few feet into the air, then facing away from the outside throne she shot a blast of ki at a group of Augin-jin observers, injuring all in the range of the small blast. She then lowered herself down where the blast was hit. She immediately punched through the shoulder of the closest body to her. A great yell was heard, and was doubled as she swiftly did a 180, repeating her action to the being directly behind her.

She swiftly extended her arms out to her sides. On both hands she pointed 3 fingers, the middle finger resting on top of the two adjacent fingers, with the thumbs and pinky folded inwards. The round ki beam pierced through 3 people on each side of her. To finnish off she did a tight 360 degree spin, which deeply cut anyone directly in range due to the crescent shaped ki that was produced by the tips of her fingers.

Walking back towards her original standing position before she started her random attack, she punched two beings out of her way, before standing with a smirk, hands crossed behind her back. After a raised eyebrow Frieza's way, Zarbon then replaced the necklace onto her neck.

“Hnm. A little overdone, but she did give you some mercy. How unlike her.” Frieza observed somewhat surprised. “Consider yourself lucky” he added as turned away from the King, having done what he had came to do.

The king now showed a little bit of the annoyance he had been feeling since Frieza had arrived. The last few moments were, for the princess, trading looks of disgust with the un-liked Saiya-jin, who only smirked back in response.

“Suika, Zarbon” Frieza called to his two subordinates.

“Lord Frieza” They both replied dutifully.

“Come now, I have other things to do,” Suika gave a respectful nod towards Frieza, and with one last glance at the princess, and a “walk” command from Zarbon, Suika turned to follow Frieza.

The king and his daughter waited until the little entourage was out of sight before they said a word.

“I will find a way out of this. I will kill her.”

The king glanced at his determined daughter. “I know you will Veru, I know.”

<>~end flashback~<>

Veru opened her eyes to see the straight, knee-length, lightly dull maroon hair a few feet in front of her.

”Had another dream did you?”

”Yes, I did” Veru answered back as she lowered her legs from the cross-legged position she had them in during her floating meditation. ”What's the status Ilchen?”

Ilchen turned around from the table, which in the center held a beautiful, violet-tinted small clear stone in a rough circular shape that shown dimly in the low-lighted room.

”3 Weeks”.

Veru smiled wickedly at the news. ”They'll never know what hit them.”
