New Acquaintances

The next couple of days went by without incident. I kept to myself mostly because I did not trust myself around that banshee. I realized that if we were alone together only one of us would be left alive when everyone returned. I tried to avoid her at all costs. I even went so far as to gather my own food so I would not be around that hellcat. But as fate would have it that did not last as long as I would have hoped.

The Sons, Megumi, and I all went to so stupid show. It was at the end of the season fair in West City. I flat out told my sister to go to hell if they made me go, but threats don't last on Megumi. I was quite glad when I heard that the Briefs were also attending this ridiculous affair. At least my brother would be close by.

'Megumi why are we here again?'

' 'Cause this show is supposed to be the best one the fair does all year.'

'I hate you. You do know that right?'

'You know you love me. And I love you too. You will enjoy this, I promise. Besides Goten is here with you.'

'Remind me to dismember you when we get home.'

'Yes Kaoru.'

Chichi paid for all of the tickets and we found seats. My brother and his nin-jin mate hadn't arrived yet. I stood up and started walking towards the midway. I did not like to be so close and around so many nin-jins. The only time it would be like this was when I would purge. Unfortunately that was not what I was here for.

"Hey Kay where are you going?"

"I need to be alone for a little bit. I will be back before the show starts."

"All right. Be careful."

"Did you forget who you are talking to? I am Kaoru no oujo. I think I can take care of myself. Nothing will happen to me. Stay with Kakarott and his brats."

"Yes ma'am," she said and saluted me. I shook my head and continued to walk away. I got half way to my destination when I felt my brother and his family arrive. I walked over to them and pointed them in the direction that the Sons were in. They thanked me and continued on their way. My brother did not look to thrilled.

I walked aimlessly until I got to a quieter part of the fair. It was the barns. I glanced at all of the animals, but didn't pay them too much attention. I made my way to the horse barn. I finally stopped in front of a stall that contained an absolutely beautiful black mare(female for those of you who don't know). She looked like she was a bit wild and liked to be on her own. A man behind me said,"I wouldn't get too close she can be quite a little witch when she wants to be, which is pretty much all the time. The owners have never been able to get close enough to her, let alone ride her."

"She has her own plans as to what her life should be like. She does not want to be caged up like some animal at the zoo. She wants to be free and roam where ever she pleases. Kind of like her owners. She just wants to be her. She doesn't want others judging her when they are no better."

"You sound like you can talk to her."

"Well lets say she reminds me of someone I know and they are having the same problems."

"Well she is still young maybe someone will let her be just her. She still has lots of time left to make her dreams come true."

"If the owners don't ride her why is she here? I mean don't you have to be riding the horse for it to be here?"

"Well the owners stable here all year long so they don't have to show in order to keep their horses here. They are also trying to get rid of this one. She would be a perfect show horse if she let people show her, but what can you do?"

"How much?"

"What?"

"How much do they want for her?"

"Right about now I think they would give her away."

"Do you know the owners?"

"Yes. My wife and I own her."

"So how much?"

"I get the feeling that you would let her be what she wants so if you come back tomorrow you can pick her up."

"All right, what time?"

"Anytime during the day. I am always here."

"Thank you. What is your name?"

"Ross Langley. And yours?"

"Kaoru."

"I will see you tomorrow then Kaoru. The show is about to start."

"I have to go."

"Good bye."

"Yeah." I got back to the grandstand just in time. The show just started when I arrived.

"Where have you been?"

"Just watch the show and don't worry about it Megumi."

Everyone piled out of the stadium after the show. I am so glad I have instant transmission. We arrived back at the Sons house and Megumi, Gohan, and Goten all went strait to bed. They were exhausted. It was almost 2 in the morning when the show finally got over with. I will admit it wasn't half bad. It dragged on more than anything.

I sat myself on the couch, while Kakarott and his harpy went upstairs to argue before they fell asleep. They must both be messed up because every night it is the same thing. They fight then fall asleep in each others arms. I will never figure them out. I guess they are just meant to be a mystery to everyone else.

I sat thinking about the horse I was going to get tomorrow and set free and soon fell into a fitful sleep.
