"I know she didn't believe me," came a faint voice from somewhere in the chaos of pain that engulfed her mind. Videl tried to move, but found the pain in her head overwhelming. It hurt to breathe, and she believed there might be bones broken inside. She held her breath against the tears that were threatening to escape her eyes and forced them to remain closed, trying to listen and figure out what was going on. Memories rushed quickly back - Bura's scream, Trunks, Goten…

"Did anyone believe me?" there was the sound of footsteps, angry and hateful footsteps that seemed to vibrate within the ground. There was no responding voice, but Videl sensed other people nearby, listening into the conversation as she was doing. "Of course not," the same voice continued. She realized quickly that the voice belonged to Gohan. She stiffened, forcing her heartbeat into silence. Gohan was nearby. She wasn't armed. She hadn't the faintest clue where Bura was, or if the youngest demi-Saiyajin and her mother were even alive. Overwhelming emotion pain engulfed her, and it took every ounce of self-control she had to not sob at the thought. She'd fallen in love with the young Bura and had always considered herself an older and protective sister of the girl. "No, I don't believe so," Gohan continued the one-sided conversation with no one in particular. There was a long and hellish pause, one that caused her to shiver with fear. Did he know she was awake? What did he plan to do? She swallowed stiffly and allowed her eyes to blink open to see the dark haired demi-Saiyajin staring directly at her. She cried out and jerked upwards, trying to dart away, but only found herself confronted with a tall and looming green figure. Another hoarse cry escaped her lips and she spun around, but found her arms grasped by two other sets. She was thrown back against the wall, held there as she writhed and thrashed. "No, of course not," Gohan whispered as he slowly approached.

Videl realized he'd changed from the purple gi. It seemed almost a miracle, that small change, but what he wore now was not very comforting to her. Tight black leather jeans rode low around his hips, showing the daring curves just above where his length would begin. There were small love handles visible, but he was far too skinny, as if he'd starved for many months. His muscles had grown some since they'd met at Orange Star High, and although he shouldn't seem in proportion, he looked very normal. The long hair now reached midway down his spine in dark spikes, desperate in need of a cut but in the same way making him look darker, almost attractive. He titled his head to the side as he moved forward; his hands limp at his sides. The hair curled around his thighs with the small movement. "Did you even believe me, Videl?"

Her eyes turned to Goten and Trunks, the two that were holding her against the wall. "Let me go, you evil bastards!" she spat, the liquid wad striking Goten. He snarled and shook it away, nails grinding into her skin. Videl cried out as blood dripped from the wound, swing her foot up to connect with the teenager's head. Goten, shocked by the strike, stumbled back, his grip loosening just enough for Videl to pull free. She curled herself towards Trunks and clawed his face, leaving the lavender-haired teen a good scar that would take at least a month to heal completely. She ducked past Gohan, leaving Piccolo standing behind him.

Unbeknownst to her, there was a faint smile on Gohan's lips.

Though it had been years since she'd last been within the mansion, she knew each footstep by heart, and her mind was screaming for her that Bura, if anywhere, would be trapped in the training halls. She ran down the spiral staircase, taking five or six at a time and jumping over the railings once she was close enough to the ground. Within moments she reached the bottom floor, just a single floor above the basement while three floors beneath the surface. "Bura!" she screamed as she darted down the maze of corridors, searching desperately. Knowing the demi-Saiyajin may very well be unconscious, pending they hadn't killed her, Videl darted towards each room, throwing each one open and scanning across it before moving to the next.

On the verge of panic, Videl somehow expected the room to be empty when she reached the final chamber - and it was. She fell against the frame of the final door, nearly sobbing. Bura was dead… it was all her fault. She should have trained the demi-Saiyajin, prepared her for what awaited. She was a Saiyajin… she could have fought… survived…

"Didn't find what you were looking for?" came a question from behind her. Videl jerked out into the center of the hall, hands curling into fists. Gohan stood at the head of the hall, slowly approaching with something small in his hands… a teddy bear… and one that was familiar to Videl.

"Is that…"

"Kawaii thing, isn't it?" Gohan muttered absently, curling his finger around the bear's long fur. Videl rose to her full height, large blue eyes watching it eagerly. She'd lost that bear when she was just barely seven years of age, and she couldn't even remember what its name had been, but she had loved it dearly. Videl wrapped her arms around her chest, feeling the tears threatening to unleash. "Gohan… is Bura…"

"She's fine," Gohan muttered, tossing the bear over his shoulder. Videl cried out, moving forward. The bear fell to the ground, unharmed, but dirty. Gohan smirked, falling against the wall to his left as he watched her curiously. "What is it? You want that stupid little thing? Think it'll protect you from me?"

Goten and Trunks appeared suddenly at the head of that long hallway, and just as quickly they vanished. Videl cried out and tried to move through the back-hallways, but found herself thrown inside one of the training rooms. She struck the cold cement floors violently, feeling the bones inside her skin threatening to snap. With practiced skill she spun onto her hands and knees and darted forward, but quickly realized that she was trapped. There was only exit, and that was the same one that had been used as an entrance. Across the room her reflection mocked her, the wall being made of reflective glass. They were no windows; the training rooms were beneath the ground. She turned, backing towards the hard walls. Gohan stepped through the doorway, with Goten on his left and Trunks on his right. All three sets of eyes were focused on her, narrowed in their own sadistic amusement. Gohan waved a hand towards her, and the boys each rushed forward and grabbed her arms, hauling her against the wall.

Videl roared out, tugging her arms away as her head was thrown back and forth. One hand, from which boy she didn't know, grabbed her head and slammed it against the wall. Videl slid to the ground, but had suffered much worse brutality from Gohan during their battles. She used the floor to brace her back as she swung her arms around, slamming the two teenagers against each other. Again, their grip loosened just enough for her to get free. She rushed across the training area, jumping up and grabbing the chain that held a punching bag in the center of the room. She swung around it, feet lashing out. Her boots struck both teenagers in the face, sending them backwards to the floor. Videl jumped downwards and swung her fist into Trunks' face, using the momentum to spin with the blow and send her elbow into Goten's abdomen.

Had Goten and Trunks been human, they would have been clutching their wounds, unable to fight with their senses. Of course, they weren't. Her blows had little to no effect on either of them. Trunks lashed out, grabbing the back of her throat and shoving her into the bag. She struck the cushioned bag violently, causing the chain to disconnect with the ceiling and strike the opposite wall. An explosion of sand and smoke erupted; plastic fell to the floor with a thud. In the same moment Videl found herself jerked backwards, spine bending in a very painful manner, just to have a knee shoved in the center. She cried out as pain overwhelmed all of her senses. Somewhere in the back of her mind she heard a voice. Videl was sent flying across the room, skidding along the hard floor. She struck the far wall, legs curling against her chest as she tried not to sob. It had all fallen apart. This was the beginning of the painful end. Silently, she apologized to Chikyuu, and all the people that still remained. She would see them all in hell very soon…

"Get up. You can take more than that."

Videl's eyes slowly opened, blood trickling down the side of her face. Gohan was standing above her. Across the room the door closed with a small click. She was alone… with Gohan. Panic seized her. Her eyes darted around the room frantically, as if she expected a new exit to make itself known to her now that she was definitely trapped.

"She still doesn't believe me," Gohan muttered absently, looking away, as if to another person. Videl slowly staggered to her feet, clutching her stiff arm. My some miracle, nothing was broken inside of her that she could tell at the current moment. Slowly she inched to the door as Gohan stared into the dark room. The lights above were on, but one of them had shorted out and was steadily fading. If she could get to the door, she could make a run for the stairs, and then have many exits available. She could probably get by Trunks and Goten, with some luck…

The demi-Saiyajin was standing in front of the door, leaning against it, his ankles crossed beneath him. Videl swallowed as she stumbled backwards, fists gripping air at her sides. "Will you tell me?" he demanded with a faint growl. Saiyajin were just like feral feline demons, always angry, hissing, growling…

"What are you talking about?" she exclaimed as she stumbled back, eyes searching for anything and everything. The chain from the fallen bag could be used as a weapon. There were staffs in the small closet, along with other things probably, that she could use… if she could get to the closet, and if it wasn't locked. A lot of her thoughts were playing on ifs, and she didn't like that. Ifs didn't ensure victory. What could ensure victory against a psychotic killer?

Gohan, however, smiled softly and stepped forward, hand reaching out to gently brush against her cheek. Videl swallowed stiffly, staring at him with skepticism. He offered a faint chuckle and leaned down, pressing his lips against the tip of her nose. With that small motion, everything of the past ten years seemed to fly out of a window. She didn't see the brutal killer that had slain her father. She saw the cute black haired boy who had embarrassed Sharpner in the cafeteria so long ago, the boy who had caused her to shiver and smile at the same time, the boy she had, briefly, thought of introducing to her father as a strong senshi who could protect her and make her happy. Videl felt a faint blush burning in her cheeks. The thoughts only lasted for a short moment, and vanished when Gohan spoke again. "Did you know? He doesn't think you knew, but I think you did."

"He? Knew what?" Videl pleaded, forcing herself to back away. She couldn't afford to be misguided by her emotions, not now. Gohan could easily be lying. Bura could be dead, dying, or might be suffering unimaginable torture as she sat here, daydreaming about things that were never meant to be.

"She never knew, Gohan! Stop playing these games!" came the annoyed voice of Gohan's most favorite tormenter. Raditzu paced loudly across the room, moving around the large blue pads that randomly coated the cold floors. His tail thrashed out with each step. Gohan frowned suddenly, his eyes narrowing with anger. Videl stumbled back with fear, eyes for the third time searching for something… anything… that would help her. "You're right," Gohan muttered absently to Raditzu, spinning towards the door. His fist slammed softly against it, not hard enough to create a hole, but enough to dent the metal. He heard Videl cry out with the loud thud, and the fact that she didn't know that he had once liked her caused rage to build inside of him. Canines protruding from beneath his top lip, Gohan swung out at her. Videl wasn't able to dodge, and was sent flying backwards against the wall with a violent thud, causing her body image to be imprinted in the metal.

Gohan moved towards her, grabbing the chain from the fallen punching bag as he passed by. He gripped the two ends together and twisted it in his hands before letting the middle to fall to the ground and twirling it, causing the silver links to resemble that of spinning helicopter blades. Videl's blue eyes widened as she cried out in protest, but despite her pleading Gohan retracted the spinning links and swung it, striking her.

Behind him, Raditzu chuckled.
