Part Seven

Kagetsuya couldn't sleep at all. He held onto the small angel the rest of the evening, listening to his even breathing. Occasionally, when Chihaya would mutter in his sleep, Kagetsuya just pulled him closer, smoothing the black hair away from the cherub face, whispering comfort in his ear.

During the night, Chihaya had turned over, draping his arm and leg over Kagetsuya possessively, snuggling closer, his head resting on the blonde's chest. As the first rays of sunrise spilled into the room, Kagetsuya felt Chihaya stirring awake. Looking down into the sleepy violet eyes, "Good morning sleepyhead."

Chihaya's body tensed. //He was here all night.// Realizing that he had draped himself comfortably over Kagetsuya, "I'm sorry," he murmured as he struggled to unwrap himself. But the strong arms wouldn't give. He closed his eyes, afraid to look at the tall man, lying still.

"Sorry for what?" Sensing the small angel's reticence, "Chihaya. Open your eyes," Kagetsuya whispered softly. Fingertips under the brunette's chin forced him to look up. "I said, `Good Morning.'" gently pressing a kiss to the trembling lips.

Large tears leaked from his violet eyes. Kagetsuya smiled lovingly, kissing the tears as they rolled down flushed cheeks. "Why are you crying, little one?"

"I-…I don't know." He hiccupped. Chihaya's whole body began to jerk with sobs as the emotional floodgates sprang open, washing over him in a tidal wave of unresolved feelings. Fear, longing, denial, desire, rejection, love, acceptance, all broke the surface at once, crashing down on the fragile psyche.

Kagetsuya pulled him closer, until Chihaya's body lay half on him, half on the bed, holding him tightly. Resting his cheek on the top of the dark head, he simply lay there, soothing the crying form gently.

Soon, the sobbing slowed and Chihaya gained control of his breathing. " `m sorry, Kagetsuya." He sniffled, his voice muffled against Kagetsuya's shoulder.

Placing a tender kiss on top of his head, Kagetsuya squeezed him tightly from a moment, then, relaxed. "It's okay, Chihaya. It's been a difficult time for us."

Scooting up on the bed, Chihaya propped himself up on one elbow to look down at Kagetsuya's face. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to be difficult."

Kagetsuya pressed his finger against his lips. "Stop that, Chihaya. That's not what I said and it isn't what I meant either." He sighed. "If you ever find yourself angry or hurt by something I've said or done, instead of assuming the worst, just ask if that was what I meant." Kagetsuya fingered the silky black tangle of hair. "You will find it isn't what you thought." Lifting one eyebrow in emphasis, he lightly tapped the end of Chihaya's button nose with his finger.

Chihaya snuggled back down, wiggling to get as close to the blonde angel as possible. "I love you," he sighed. Realization hit him instantly. Unsure of how Kagetsuya would react to such a declaration this early caused Chihaya's body to freeze. //Oh no!// he groaned. He squeezed his eyes shut, waiting for Kagetsuya to pull away emotionally and physically. "I'm sorry, Kagetsuya…I didn't mean it. I…I…mean, I *mean* it, but I didn't mean to say it, out loud. To push you…You don't have to say it…Oh, I'm not saying this right…" He clung to the blonde, like a drowning man to a life raft.

Kagetsuya felt the lithe body in his arms tighten after the admission. As Chihaya tried to cover his words, he smiled inwardly. //He loves me.// "Chihaya, hush," he chided quietly. Rolling Chihaya onto his back, Kagetsuya supported himself on one arm as he leaned over the sputtering angel. "You are so beautiful. Did you know that?" He pushed black bangs away from the pale forehead. "So beautiful…"

Chihaya shook his head, his eyes wide. He felt the weight of passion in Kagetsuya's voice. It washed over him, fanning the flames of his own desire. The feeling was heady, threatening to consume him.

"May I kiss you again, Chihaya?" he whispered, stroking a smooth cheek.

Croaking noises came from Chihaya's throat. Licking his lips, he nodded slowly.

Pressing his mouth gently to Chihaya's, it started innocently, lips to lips. Kagetsuya felt his body responding immediately. The kiss became more insistent as Kagetsuya slid his tongue along Chihaya's bottom lip, entreating for entrance.

Lying on his back, Kagetsuya wrapped his arms around his dark-haired lover, gathering the boneless body close. "I love you," Chihaya slurred. Before long, the small angel was breathing deeply in sleep.

Kagetsuya closed his eyes, praying that he made the right choice. And soon followed Chihaya into slumber.
