Background: In the land of the Sckai, a plague hit the land that affected all the people that lived there. Two different clans constantly fought against each other for dominance of each others land. The Fujin clan was the foundation of the Sckai world and once the peace became normal, riots began within the land. A man named Ichari Guanin gathered some followers to rebel against the 12 Sckai sages that passed on many centuries ago. The gods grew angry at their lost sages of stones and separated the groups into the Guanin clan and the Fujin clan. Because they continued to fight the Gods gave a curse to the clans.

The Plague of no cries. The last child born eighteen years ago. Though the Fujin and Guanin leaders do not know that they are unfertile, no single couple can reproduce in a single clan. The Fujins' and Guanins' still fight each other for dominance. Night…will bring light to Sckai, the new Sckai sage.

 

Deep within the Padsong Fortress, the wind blows hard and snow falls softly upon many faces. Whispering and the soft clashes of blades are heard across the land. A young man of 25 years, Azure Hatake, slowly walks up a long fleet of stairs heading up to the Fujin elder Hamok.

“Elder, I have received word at you call.” Azure looks up into the small fortress and stares at a figure in an empty space awaiting something.

He lifts his hand and inserts a small twig in his mouth and begins chewing. “Azure, you are close to our Night right.”

Azure looks down and frowns. “Yes, as you know, we grew up together. As you are to her, you were like a father to me.” Azure stands up and walks towards the elder and sits across him with a tea table separating them.

“It is nice to know that Azure. I have a proposition for you.”

Azure looks up at the elder questionably. “I will do whatever you ask of me Elder.”

The elder looks down at Azure and pulls out a pipe. He gently puts it at the brim of his mouth. “I want you to take my daughter.”

Azure stiffens and stares at the table in between them. “But sir…”

“I will not be refused. You should be proud. I have noticed how close you are to her, and how fond you are of her. She is the only one that is left whole. Since she was the last born perhaps she carries that gift that the women of our village no longer has. She is ripe of age. And I offer her to you. Will you accept, or shall I find another to fill your place.” The Elder looks down at Azure as he bites down on his pipe.

“Sire, I don't know if I can. Night would be frightened. You of all people should know how pure she is. I don't want to hurt her.” Azure prepares to stand but is interrupted by guards at the back door. He slowly sits back down.

“I am aware of my own daughter's feelings. That is why I prepared this.” Hamok hands Azure and white slip. “This will help you. It was a once toxic poison that I have trifled with and tried. It will last for about five hours and she will go into a deep sleep afterwards. She won't remember anything.”

Azure looks to the side slowly reaching his hand out to grab the white slip. He takes a deep breath and walks away hiding the slip in his cloth.

“Damn it.”

 

“Hya, ha ha ha!” Night, taking her final blow on a nearby enemy poses and laughs with triumph. “I'm getting so much better! He he he he” She makes a wide grin and goes on to another nearby monster.

“Yeah you're doing great but, you're not quite as strong as me yet ha ha ha.” The girl looks back at Night with a half smile.

“I'll get there if you stop training Kayne.” Night runs over to another spawning monster. She buffs herself for the upcoming fight and attacks, ending the fight in one combo hit. “Ha cha!”

“Oh, guess whose coming?” Kayne edges close to Night and elbows her in the side with a slight giggle. “It's A..zuu..ree. He he he.” She walks behind night and one hits a monster that spawned behind Night.

Azure walks over with a solemn look on his face. “Hey Night, how are you.”

Night looks at Azure with a confused look. She sets her katana away and crosses her arms. “I'm fine Az, but, I wonder about you. What's wrong?”

“Ok, I'm going to go help my friends with Wargo. Can't let those Guans beat us again huh? See you later Night.”

“Ok, bye Kayne.” Night waves her friend goodbye and looks back at Azure with a serious look. “Azure, what is wrong? Why are hiding something from me?” She walks over to Azure standing directly in front of him. She stares into his face then looks down at the floor and breaths steadily remaining calm.

“Night…”Azure walks closer to Night, grabbing her hands with his. “Would you come with me? There is something I need to talk to you about.”

Night looks up at Azure and changes her face. She walks forward enthusiastically. “Well let's go. Perhaps we will talk over tea? My treat?” Night looks up at Azure with a slight grin.

Azure looks at Night with a pain stained face. “Ok night. But I'll pay, ok?”

Night looks back at Azure questionably. “Ok, but the herb master raised his price so, the tea house may be more expensive.” She continues forward to the Padsong gate. “Hurry up Azure, you're so melancholy today.”

Night and Azure go though the Padsong portal.

 

Inside the tea house many people are talking, sharing battle scenes, looking at each other being flirtatious. Night and Azure are sitting in the back corner secluded by a screen. Azure looks at Night as she patiently awaits her tea.

“There are a lot of people here. I didn't think it would be such a busy day for such high prices.” Night places her head on her hands and sighs. Azure looks at Night with a sympathetic look. He pouts slightly and Night notices it though the corner of her eye. She side glances at him. “Azure, mind telling me what is troubling you? What did you want to talk to me about?”

Azure looks at Night and then back at the table. “Night, you know, I…” he clears his throat. “You, know I love you.” He looks back up at Night.

Night looks at him puzzled. “I don't understand.”

Azure gets a sudden heat in his cheats and looks back at Night. “What do you mean you don't understand? You don't understand that I love you?” He sets his head down on the table.

Night laughs slightly. “No that's not is, I'm sorry. I should have chosen my words more carefully. What I meant is, you wanted to talk to me about something, and I thought it was something bad like, I don't know, you're being taken away or you're about to die. I just got the wrong impression. That's all. But, I didn't know that, well, that is how you feel. I always thought we were good friends.”

Azure looks down with a disappointed look on his face. “Oh, I understand.”

Night, “Wait, no that's not what I mean. I do love you. We have been best friends for a long time. I just didn't expect that. It was surprising.” She puts her head down facing the wall.

Azure looks up and rests his head on his fist staring at Night.

“Your tea?”

“Thank you.” Azure grabs the tea from her hands and places it in the middle of the table. She reluctantly pulls the white slip of poison out of his sleeve and pours into her tea. “Night….get up. Don't look so sad.”

Night lifts her head slowly and looks back at Azure. She grabs her cup and stares at the liquid. “Azure, I'm sorry. I'm being weird.” She slowly sips her tea.

Azure looks at night as she slowly drinks the toxic fluid, resisting the urge to pull the tea away from her. “Don't say that. Your not weird, you are just yourself. And that what I love so much about you.”

Night looks at Azure with a slightly red face. “I love you Azure. I'm so glad I could get that off my chest. Wanna know something weird. Every time I look at you or hear your voice, I get these hot flashes down my spine. It's so weird right?”

Azure looks back at night with a confused look. “Night, are you hyper again??”

Night smiles at Azure deeply. “Only a little bit. Haha. Come on, let's go. I'm soooo sleepy from all that training I have done. You wanna come Az?”

“Sure I'll go, if it is what you want.” He grabs Nights arm and night rests a hand on his.

“Thank you Azure, for always being there for me.” She rests her head on his arm and they both walk outside, on their way to Nights little house her father build for her. Night tumbles and leans on Azure. Azure holds Night around her shoulders and stands her in front of him. She inches close to Azure. “Azure, this is weird. Why am I feeling this? You are my brother. Why, I don't understand?” Azure pulls her into a passionate kiss.

“Because, it is in us that our clan may live on. To be the first parents in 21 years. Night, remember this night, or try to, I love you.”
