Chapter 8. You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth
[It Must Have Been While You Were Kissing Me]
(Meatloaf)
At the persistence of the sun's morning rays streaming brightly through the window, Dee begrudgingly opened his emerald eyes and rolled over sleepily, extending his hand to reach for the clock on the bedside table in order to survey the luminescent numbers, only to find that he had placed his hand upon a warm body that was lying next to him instead. He glanced down in confusion as he pulled the covers away slightly and took in the figure of someone with honey-blond hair and a sleek but muscular frame, as evidenced by the contours of his sculpted back. "Randy!" Dee gasped softly in disbelief as he observed the unmistakable features that were so unique to Ryo. But how? Why? What was the man whom Dee had desperately longed for for so many endless nights doing lying next to him in his bed? Surely this wasn't just some cruel jest of Dee's imagination? But the unmistakable sound of Ryo's gentle breathing and the feel of his smooth flesh beneath Dee's loving touch betrayed the illusion that Dee was ensnared by the guise of an enchanting dream. With hungry eyes, Dee drank in the sight of the seraphic being lying next to him before gently placing his arms around Ryo and clutching him fervently against his chest, nuzzling his face against Ryo's neck and breathing in the other's comforting, inviting scent. It did not escape him that there was something different about Ryo, an aura of confidence that the man did not previously possess. Ryo also looked to be healthier, having filled out his gaunt figure and regained his lusty skin tone instead of the white pallor he had possessed when Dee had last seen him.
"Mmmmm…. Dee," Ryo sighed softly as he leaned back against Dee, melting into his touch. Dee blinked, startled. He hadn't expected Ryo's sleepy murmur of longing to have anything to do with him. But here he was, lying in Dee's arms. Everything that the man did was a mystery. Just who was Randy McLean to him and what was the gorgeous blond doing lying next to Dee, his ever-so carefully constructed defenses so exposed and unguarded, leaving him with a raw sense of vulnerability that was simultaneously enticing to Dee?
Ryo slowly opened his beautiful dark eyes and was suddenly aware of the warm muscular body lying next to his. Strong arms encircled him from behind in a tentative but loving embrace. Ryo smiled and rolled over to gaze deeply into emerald orbs that were opened in an expression of disbelief. As their eyes locked onto one another, each captivated by the other's close physical presence, Ryo put his arms around Dee's neck and pulled him close, their foreheads touching.
"Randy - how… why?" Dee trailed off, incredulously, his ability to speak enslaved by the blatant desire of want and need that emanated from behind Ryo's midnight depths.
"Shhh, Dee," Ryo put a finger over Dee's lips to quiet his lover. "Please let me talk. I'll explain everything." Seeing Dee's look of acquiescence, he sat up and continued softly, "Before the accident and before you lost your memories, we were in love. Oh, we were so happy together, Dee," Ryo reminisced, all traces of the fear and uncertainty that had previously lurked behind his eyes gone as he met Dee's unwavering stare with his newfound resilient determination. "I love you with all of my heart. I desperately wish that the depths of our love didn't have to be put to the test. You showed ultimate sacrifice and devotion to me at the risk of your own life, and as a result you have lost your memories permanently. Even now, when it seems that all is lost, I still can't bring myself to let you go. It took me two years to decide to be with you, but once I made that decision, I knew that I would NEVER go back on it, no matter what. It just took me awhile to sort out my feelings about the accident and to discover my inner courage to tell you how I felt about you. I found a taste of paradise wrapped within your arms and I never want to let it slip away. I am yours now and forever, Dee."
Feeling as though this heartfelt confession of love was too good to be true, Dee challenged the cards that fate had laid before him. "But what about your family? Don't you have a wife and child? And what about me? Aren't I already involved with someone?" Dee asked reluctantly, indicating the teddy bear that was lying by the chair. He knew that he didn't care for JJ like he did for Ryo. With Ryo, Dee felt an insatiable burning desire, an intense feeling of protectiveness towards him and a powerful sense of serenity emanating from him in turn. However, the more Ryo revealed to him only served to confuse the raven-haired man further. The facts just didn't make sense. His own eyes had deceived him and conjured up misconstrued illusions that had led him to draw the worst possible conclusions, although the safest ones, he reflected. If he wasn't involved with anyone he cared for, then he couldn't get hurt. No one that devoted could abandon him after finding out his current condition, even if it only portrayed a false sense of security and belonging. If he had nothing he valued, then he had nothing to lose.
Ryo's gorgeous eyes opened wide in shock. "My wife and child?" he asked, puzzled. He gasped as the realization of what Dee must have concluded about his visitors dawned on him. "No, the woman who came to get me was my Aunt Elena, and the child staying with her is my foster son, Bikky. They are my family, but you are my significant other. As far as being involved with JJ, he just preyed upon your loss of memory and led you to believe that you two were a couple. He has been following you around like a lost puppy ever since you met at the Academy and has jumped at every available opportunity to win you over, exploiting others at their expense. In a way, I almost feel sorry for him," Ryo explained.
"Why haven't you told me any of this before?" Dee asked incredulously, still letting Ryo's information sink in with a hint of disbelief. It all seemed too good to be true.
Ryo's cheeks took on a slightly pink hue as he broke eye contact with Dee and looked away shyly. "I was afraid to at first. I'm not very good at expressing my feelings well, especially in public. I get easily flustered and whenever an opportunity presents itself, I either let it pass by or get distracted, putting it off until later. I tried to tell you about us Dee, many times, but something always got in the way of my doing so. The idea of being with a man was new to me before I met you. I was still dealing with that aspect of our relationship before the accident occurred, so that added to my hesitation. But when I realized that I might lose you forever if I didn't act on my feelings, I knew that I had to overcome my fears and win you back. I just couldn't imagine my life without you in it. I love you so much, Dee, now and forever," Ryo confessed, being honest with himself and open with Dee for the first time since the accident. "I only hope that it's not too late for us to be together. Please tell me that you'll give me a second chance," Ryo pleaded desperately with a look of worry gracing his handsome features. Ryo's wavering eyes danced with tears that threatened to spill over at the slightest indication of uncertainty from Dee. Ryo had done it. He had finally poured his heart out. There was no going back now.
Dee hesitated and turned his head intently to study the pained figure of the man who had revealed the depths of his very soul to him in that heartfelt and sincere confession. He knew that it must have taken all of Ryo's inner strength and courage to render himself so defenseless in that decisive instant, but knowing that Ryo would sacrifice everything he had - everything he was - for him, touched Dee's hurting heart deeply and gave him the conviction he needed to surrender to his own fears and conquer them as well.
"Well, now that I know how you feel about me, I've got no more reservations and nothing to hold back - ever. I can finally do what I've wanted to do from the moment I first saw you," Dee said softly as he put his hand under Ryo's chin and tilted Ryo's head up to once again gaze into his dusky eyes.
"What's that?" Ryo asked, trembling slightly as Dee subtly shifted his body on top of his, forcing Ryo to lay back on the bed against the pillows as Dee inched his face closer to Ryo's expectantly. Ryo could feel Dee's soft breath against his lips.
"This," Dee breathed as he softened his features, never losing the intense fire residing behind his emerald eyes as he closed his dark lashes and leaned down to cover Ryo's sultry mouth with his own. Ryo's midnight eyes fluttered shut as Dee's lips brushed over his, pressing sweetly but insistently in an attempt to deepen the kiss. Dee extended his tongue in a tantalizing swipe across Ryo's soft lips. Ryo parted his lips as Dee slowly slipped his sizzling tongue inside and caressed Ryo's mouth from within. Dee executed the kiss with an exhilarating passion that conveyed his intense desire for Ryo. Ryo melted into the bed as Dee ravished his mouth, exploring every inch and seeming to pour the very essence of his soul into the kiss, surrendering everything that he was to Ryo in that decisive moment of passion.
Ryo sighed and responded to the loving strokes of Dee's tongue, indulging his unspoken whims and desires as his tongue moved against Dee's, creating a powerful electrifying rhythm before letting Dee dominate the kiss. Sensing Ryo's favorable acquiescence of his probing tongue, Dee began to thrust his tongue in an increasingly demanding pace, causing Ryo to gasp and moan wantonly into the kiss, bringing forth a vibration that resonated in the back of Dee's throat. Ryo twined his hands around Dee's neck, clutching at him as if to never let him go again. Dee pushed Ryo's body further into submission as his hands roved unheeded across Ryo's gloriously exposed broad shoulders and toned chest. Ryo was getting a euphoric sense of pleasure as Dee's hands roamed tantalizingly lower across his sculpted abs and he arched his back into the touch, crying out and basking in the delicious sensations that coursed throughout his body.
Suddenly a knock at the door caused Ryo to stiffen, breaking the kiss abruptly and pushing Dee away from him as Dee swore softly and reluctantly rolled off of Ryo's steamy body, sitting up and moving behind him. Dr. Black entered swiftly, clipboard in hand, as the door closed behind her. "No, stay," Dee commanded softly as Ryo tried hurriedly to get out of the bed. Dee wrapped a strong arm around Ryo and pulled Ryo so that his back was pressed against Dee's chest. Dee brought his chin down to rest on Ryo's shoulder.
Looking up, Dr. Black was surprised to see that Ryo was in the bed with Dee, obviously having spent the night from his tousled hair in a state of disarray that mirrored Dee's own disheveled tresses. She reflected how strikingly perfect they looked together, Dee's dark olive skin providing a flattering contrast to Ryo's creamy pale tone. Ryo was blushing furiously and averting his beautiful eyes, while Dee narrowed his flashing green eyes and gave her an intense stare that reflected one word - `MINE'.
"Hello, Dee. Well, Randy, it's nice to see you at the hospital under different conditions," Dr. Black said to each of them in turn, trying to break the ice.
"Y-yeah, I guess so," Ryo replied, looking up from under dark lashes and honey-blond bangs and giving her a bashful smile. He was glad that she did not say anything about having found him and Dee in a, well, compromising position.
Dee relaxed his possessive grip on Ryo but did not remove his hand. "So, doctor, what brings you here to visit me today?" Dee questioned as he ran his right hand reassuringly over Ryo's smooth back, causing Ryo's tense muscles to relax a bit.
"Well Dee, I just need you to sign these release forms so you can go home today. Your tests came back from the other day and other than not having your past memories, everything else looks good." She smiled and held out a pen to Dee. He took it in his left hand and proceeded to sign the forms, his other hand never leaving contact with Ryo's toned body.
"Thanks, Dee, I hope everything works out for you two," she said as she turned to go, but not before subtly winking at Ryo, causing his face to flush crimson again. Ryo looked so adorable when his trademark blush spread across his cheeks. Dee, however, was too engrossed in studying the bedsheets to notice the exchange.
Seeing Dee's downcast look and his slumping shoulders, Ryo hesitantly took Dee's hand in his own and squeezed it gently. "Dee, is something the matter?" he asked with concern.
"No, it's nothing," Dee said sadly. "Just something I have to deal with alone," he broke off. He didn't want to tell Ryo that he was not looking forward to going home and living by himself. He was all too familiar with the endless feeling of emptiness already. "Well, I guess I'd better start getting my stuff together," he said as he reluctantly got out of the bed and handed Ryo his shirt, pulling one of his over his head as he began to pack his things in the bag that the guys from the precinct had brought him.
"Wouldn't all of that stuff fit better in a suitcase?" Ryo asked, causing Dee to stop gathering his belongings and stare at Ryo.
"Well yeah, but I don't have one with me," Dee said bitterly. "I don't have anyone to bring one for me either." He wondered why the usually sensitive man was concerned about something so trivial, especially since Dee was thwarting every attempt for Ryo to press the matter further.
"How about this one?" Ryo asked innocently, bringing out his suitcase from where he had placed it in front of Dee's bed last night.
"What the hell? Where did you get that from?" Dee questioned, confused.
"I wasn't sure if you were going to say yes, but I thought that I'd bring it with me just in case. I knew that you were being released from the hospital today, and I was wondering if you wanted to come and stay with me - permanently. I know that in essence you've only just met me and I realize that it might seem a bit sudden, but I never want to be without you again, Dee. We can get through this and overcome whatever else life throws at us - together. Please consider it," Ryo broke off, suddenly shy, and turned to leave.
In response, Dee crossed the room in swift strides and turned Ryo around, placing his arms around Ryo's shoulders and pulling him in for a warm hug. "You don't know what this means to me to know that I belong to someone. Especially when that someone is you, Randy. I can tell that you're very special to me," Dee whispered against Ryo's ear, causing Ryo to shiver. Dee leaned down to capture Ryo's soft inviting lips with his own. Ryo smiled and kissed Dee back with everything he had, enthralled that he would finally have Dee back in his life where he belonged. Everything seemed right again.
"Hey - get your hands off of him, you pervert!" a voice shouted as the door was swung open forcefully and Bikky bounded into the room, followed by Elena. "Man, leave you two alone for one minute and look what happens…." he trailed off reprimandingly.
Dee broke the kiss and stared in disbelief into the blazing blue eyes that the platinum blonde child possessed. "I'm guessing you're Bikky," Dee said, slightly amused at the boy's audacity and the fire behind his eyes as Bikky moved protectively towards Ryo.
"Bikky, it's alright," Ryo said hurriedly. "Remember what we talked about?" he said in a warning tone.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm just keeping with tradition. You're too nice for your own good sometimes. I bet he wanted to go all the way with you," the spunky youngster muttered undeterred as he sat down on Dee's bed and looked through the bag of Dee's stuff.
"He's incorrigible sometimes," Ryo sighed with an apologetic smile towards Dee as a delightful blush stained his cheeks. Dee smiled back at Ryo and nodded in understanding. Dee felt that he was probably as brash as Bikky was when he was the boy's age.
"Well, I hate to break up this little reunion, but we'd better get Dee's things together so that we can all go home and start to get him moved in. Plus, I'm sure that Dee would like to eat something other than hospital food," Elena said, moving over to start putting Dee's things into Ryo's suitcase. At her last comment, Dee smiled guiltily. He had not had to endure eating one bad meal since he'd been in the hospital, thanks to his adoring fan club of kind-hearted nurses.
As they made their way down the corridor, Bikky chatting animatedly with Elena and walking at a swift pace while Dee and Ryo walked slowly behind, Dee reached out and held onto Ryo's hand. Seeing Ryo recoil slightly and blush at the intimate contact, Dee quickly let go. "I-I'm sorry," he said. "I forgot that you're shy about public displays of affection. It won't happen again," Dee said reluctantly as he moved slightly away from Ryo.
Seeing the hurt look in Dee's emerald eyes as he moved away, Ryo realized what he had done. It was more of a conditioned response rather than intending to brush Dee off. "No, it's okay," Ryo said reassuringly. "I guess it's a day of many firsts for all of us. If you can be brave enough to come live with me and accept me for who I am along with all of my faults, then I guess I can accept myself too. I told you that I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get you back and keep you, and I fully intend to uphold that promise," Ryo said as he walked closer to Dee and laced his fingers through Dee's, holding his head high and smiling broadly. "Besides, who wouldn't be proud to have someone as handsome as you holding their hand?" Ryo asked shyly, looking up at Dee from under honey-blond bangs.
"Randy, you are so unbelievably sexy," Dee breathed as he leaned down to kiss and suck on the delicate exposed flesh of Ryo's neck.
"Ahhh… Dee!" Ryo gasped in surprise before relaxing into Dee's touch.
Feeling Ryo's body start to sway, Dee reluctantly pulled away and lowering his voice seductively whispered into Ryo's ear, "We'll continue this later tonight, love."
Ryo could only blush and nod, leaning his head against Dee's shoulder as Dee wrapped his strong arm around Ryo and pulled him close, both men walking out to the car with blissful smiles on their faces. They gazed lovingly into each other's eyes the whole way home, both in a state of disbelief and euphoria that they had overcome so much and were together again at last.

"Wow, what a great meal! I can see where Randy learned his reputed cooking skills from," Dee said, fully satisfied as he pushed back his plate and smiled up at Elena. The four of them had just finished a home-cooked meal at Ryo's house and had spent the evening filling Dee in all about his and Ryo's - er - Randy's relationship, as well as their interests and various past memories. They were talking and laughing just like old times. Even Bikky was on his best behavior. To his delight, Dee hadn't tried to make a move on Ryo all night, other than to hold his hand and offer an unassuming smile every once in awhile. As Bikky watched Ryo talk and laugh with ease, it was like he had changed overnight. A glimmer of sunshine seemed to resonate from behind his deep dark eyes and Bikky saw a side of Ryo that only came out when he was in Dee's presence. Yep, the old Ryo was definitely back.
After the dishes had been washed and put away, Elena took Bikky's hand in hers and led him towards the door, carrying his overnight bag that she had packed earlier. "Well, I guess we'd better get going, Bikky. We want to be on time to go pick up Carol at her Aunt's house for your sleepover," she said matter-of-factly.
"Wait - you guys are going?" Ryo asked, a bit surprised at their sudden departure from the quiet evening that they had planned to spend together.
Elena hugged him goodbye and whispered into his ear, "Yes, I think you and Dee need some time alone to be with each other. Besides, it's only for one more night. I'm going to miss the kid. I won't get to see him that often after this week." She pulled away from Ryo and moved over to hug Dee. "Take good care of him," she said as she squeezed Dee's arm and gave Dee a knowing wink.
"Oh I will," Dee said suggestively, the tone of his voice and its underlying implications not lost on Ryo. Some things about Dee never changed. He was still immeasurably attracted to Ryo, and he wanted everyone to know that Ryo was his. Elena and Bikky left, promising to be back by tomorrow for supper.
Ryo took Dee's hand in his and walked over to the couch, where they sat down next to each other. Dee looked deep into Ryo's gorgeous eyes and voicing his doubts asked, "Are you sure you really want someone with no memories? Can you love someone without a past?"
"Dee, you performed the ultimate sacrifice for me. You were willing to die for me in order to save my life. Even though you can't remember anything, I know who you are and I know what you mean to me. It's my choice to love you and I fully accept the consequences of that decision with my whole heart. I have no regrets by choosing to love you. I know that you'll never get your memory back, but we must accept that and move on. Whatever comes our way, we'll face it - together. Through love all things are possible, and there's nothing that we can't triumph over. Believe in us, Dee - I do," Ryo said sincerely, looking into Dee's emerald depths.
"Oh Randy, you're more than I could ever ask for," Dee confessed. "I wonder what I did to deserve someone like you. I'll never let you go," he vowed determinedly, pulling Ryo close to him and feeling Ryo's heart beat against his chest as he held him tightly. Gazing deep inside Ryo's eyes, Dee saw his destiny. He was not afraid to face it anymore now that he knew Ryo would remain beside him, now and forever. They would be with each other every step of the way, no matter what the future held.
Ryo looked deep into Dee's striking green eyes that glowed with a loving warmth and an undying passion for him. He brought his hand up to tangle in Dee's silky raven tresses and brought his soft lips up, tenderly brushing them against Dee's and enticing the raven-haired man with his tempting offering. Every time they kissed Ryo felt Dee breathe his love so deep inside of him and devour him with a consuming passion, forever consummating him as a part of himself. This time was no exception as Dee opened his mouth to twine his slick tongue with Ryo's in a heartfelt expression of love combined with an agonizing desire for the man next to him. The kiss deepened as their bodies' carnal needs began to awaken with a vengeance. When they finally broke the kiss for air, both men were panting.
"Dee, I want more," Ryo breathed in a voice husky with need.
"You have my love. You'll always have that," Dee replied, hoping against hope that he wasn't misreading the subtle undertones imminent in Ryo's words. "What else do I have to offer you, Randy?" he asked plaintively.
"I want YOU," Ryo pleaded with a passionate burning intensity as his midnight eyes locked steadfastly onto Dee's emerald depths. "Dee, I want you to make love to me."
