Beginning of Part 2

"Belldandy?" she nodded and said "yes, i am Belldandy of Yggdrasil" "yggdrasil?" she nodded again and said "yes, Yggdrasil, it's a town about five miles west of here, would you like to ride along with me?" he nodded and said "alright" she turned back to the horses and they rode along for a while, until they rode slowly down a hill. josh saw the town, it was decent size, it had a windmill and various humble squallers, fit for the various people who live there. they slowed down to a stop as they approached the town gate. they saw a young man approach, who was dressed in the same style clothing as Belldandy, only he wasn't wearing a hood, so josh got to see who it was "Celestin?" the man puffed out his chest and said "that's my name. alright Belldandy, go on through" she nodded and they passed on through. she turned to him and said "you must meet my husband, joshua, because he might be able to help you" he nodded and said "alright, thank you Belldandy" as they stopped, josh jumped off first and went over to her side, saying "here, let me help you" she smiled and said "thank you" as he helped her down from the carriage. their home's door opened and josh turned to see a young man with scruffy black hair and an even scruffier black beard "Keiichi?" he looked at him and said "yeah, that's my name. how do you know it?" josh hesitated and said nervously "uh-uh, guessed it?" Keiichi looked at him strangely, before he turned to Belldandy and asked "who is this man?" Belldandy looked to josh, who was lying against the wall of the carriage, trying to avoid eye contact, so she turned back and said "his name is Joshua Payne, he appeared in the south Elysian fields on my way back from my visit with sister Skuld in Varatos. he said that he was from some place called Australia and that he was brought here by some magic. i suggested that he talk with you about it" Keiichi nodded and said "alright, josh, come with me. Belldandy, you'll be alright on your own, won't you?" she nodded and said "yes dear" josh walked along with him as they entered the house. Keiichi opened the door and said "welcome to my home, please, take a seat" they sat down in front of the fireplace as Belldandy entered the house. as he sat down he said "this is a nice house. tell me, do either of you know of an Urd or a Peorth?" Belldandy nodded and said "yes, i do. Urd is my sister and Peorth is a very dear friend of ours" he breathed a sigh of relief as he said "that's good to know. anyways, you're wondering why i'm here right, why i suddenly appeared?" they both nodded and he said "well, the story begins just under three years ago...."

Back at the apartments, Urd was sitting next to him, holding his hand as she watched him, while she was reciting a prayer. the residents would come by every now and then, and she would often recieve check-up calls from Peorth. about 10:30pm, there was a knock on the door "who is it?" "it's me" the door opened to reveal Peorth standing on the other side. Urd turned and said "he's not back yet" Peorth walked over and sat down on the other side of josh and held his hand as well, as she said "let's hope that he can make it through this trial" Urd nodded and they both turned back to Josh, who was deep into his sleep....

"..... so that's what happened leading up to now" he finished. he looked up from the fire and saw that Belldandy was shocked and Keiichi was thinking. Keiichi spoke first saying "i see, that darkness you were talking about could be referring to Mara, she's the town's bully. she and her gang terrorise the town from time to time" josh nodded and said "sounds like the Mara i know, as per usual" Belldandy went to the kettle, which was boiling madly. as she picked it up, she had to drop it as she yelped in pain. the guys stood up and Keiichi said "are you okay, my love?" Belldandy said softly "my hand, i scalded it, i'm sorry" josh approached her and said "let me have a look at your hand" he took her hand and put his on top. a light emanated briefly from his hand before he let go and said "there you go" she took her hand and put it up to her face, where she said "oh my, thank you josh" she turned to Keiichi and said "Keiichi dear, he healed me" josh turned to him and asked "where is your hospital, where do you keep your sick and wounded?" Keiichi rubbed his scruffy beard and said "alright, i know. follow me" he sat up and got out of the seat, before both men left the house and walked along a dirt road, until they stopped in front of a hospital. "here it is. you might be able to recognise who runs it" josh nodded and said "alright. thanks Keiichi" he turned and headed to the door, opening it and entering the hospital. but not before he spied someone out of the corner of his eye, so he turned and saw a young man turn to see him. as they started running towards him. he gasped as he realised who it was, it was his first form, his orginal self, the william hartnell doctor if you will.

they approached him and eyes him cautiously "okay, why am i looking at me like that?" the 1st stopped looking at him and stood, but not before he said "so you must be my replacement, hmmm? not much of an improvement" josh looked at him weird and asked "so what're you doing here? i thought that with my regenerations, you'd be off somewhere in your own peice of space, not stuck in my own head" "well, it seems that i was brought here for some reason. what that reason is, i don't know. i think the second us is here as well, i haven't seen him yet" "i see" said josh as he stroked his chin "well, it's nice to know you two are still around. both of you need not worry, i and our future regenerations will protect them as best we can" the first put his hand out and said "that's good to know. take care" "you too" josh replied, shaking his hand, before he walked away. josh turned and mused to himself "now i know that talking to yourself is the first sign of madness. i can't believe i was like that. well, to the hospital then" he headed to the hospital now with a bit of pep in his step.

"hello?" he walked through, passing the various beds, until he saw out of the corner of his eye, someone was tending to the sick. he turned and said "excuse me, can i speak to you?" the nurse stood and turned to face him. as they did, his eyes widened in horror and he said "HILD?" she smiled and said "hi josh, guess you weren't expecting me, huh?" he stood back and said "no, not really. what the hell are you doing in my head?" she smiled and as she checked on a patient, said "i recieved word from my daughter, who said you were at the hinata apartments and that you're attempting to erase the darkness within" she stood and said with a grim face "listen josh, to truly erase the darkness and the demons of one's past, they must face their past" josh nodded and said "i know, i will deal with them after i'm done here. by the way, this is a lovely village, isn't it" hild nodded and he said "so, what're you doing in this hospital?" "i've been waiting for you. i figured that you'll need my help for what's ahead, so let's do this" they put their hands together and a magic energy was building between the two, before they stuck their hands out and the energy shot out, covering every patient with the energy. josh leant against the wall and let out a deep breath, saying "man, i've gotta stop doing that" hild walked over to him and helped him outside, onto the bench. they sat back on the seat and josh looked up to the sky, before he said "hild, i need help. will you be there when i fight this darkness?" she nodded and said "you helped return me to power in niflheim, so i'm gonna return the favour" josh nodded and was about to say something, when he heard the door open, so he turned and saw one of the patients, they looked dazed. they turned and they asked "sir, are you the one that healed me?" josh nodded and said "yeah, i guess i am" they smiled and said "it's a miracle, IT'S A MIRACLE!!"

they ran out onto the street and said "it's a miracle, he healed me, it's a miracle" a man grabbed hold of her and said "miss, what're you talking about?" she turned and pointed towards josh, saying "it's a miracle sir, you see that man sitting with the nurse, he healed my sickness and everyone else's" the man's eyes widened as he said "really, you sure?" she nodded and said "yep, you bet"

back at the hospital, ten minute's later, josh lowered his head to see that he was surrounded by a group of twenty people "can i help any of you?" a young girl came up to him and asked "mister, can you cure my cold?" he smiled, put his hand on top of hers and a light appeared. as it disappeared, he took his hand off her head and said "there you go. what else?". for the next hour, he healed every ailment that the villagers had, from skinned knees to very severe injuries. the crowd dispersed, leaving Josh to sit on the bench with Hild, who stood up and said "c'mon, i'll take you back to my place" he nodded and they walked past the various houses lit by the street lights, until hild stopped and approached the mailbox. she opened it and checked, before she closed it and led him inside. the inside of the house was exactly like any modern would be.

she walked over to the bed and laid down in it, before she lifted a part of it and said "c'mon then". josh said "ahh, no. i'll just sleep on the couch" she looked at him sadly and said "oh, alright" he went out to the loungeroom and grabbed a blanket. he laid out onto the couch and pulled the cover over him, but a couple of minutes later, he took it off and went back into hild's room and saw that she was leaning against the bed, crying, so he went over to her and asked "hey, hild, what's wrong" she looked up to him with red, puffy eyes and said "it's just that... Josh, i love you" he fell back on his arse and said "what?, since when?" "AHAHAHAHA, LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!!" she yelled, which made josh's blood run cold, so he pointed the shotgun towards the gate and thought "c'mon, just a little closer!!!!" as they approached the gate, the guards began opening fire. they scattered and grabbed their own guns and fired back, killing the guards. when the last guard was killed, they swarmed on the gate, destroying it and riding on through to the town, into the barrels of josh's shotgun. he fired and managed to kill two, before he dropped the shotgun and pulled out another mac-10 and began firing on the biker gang. he managed to kill five of them, leaving just Mara and two others. he dropped the empty sub-machine guns, ran over to a bike that was on the ground, started it and roared away after them. two were approaching on either side of him, so he backflipped, just as they opened fire. the bike exploded, sending them flying off their bikes, one fell into a water catchment and the other flew through the bar window. josh stood up, turned and saw Mara, she was at one end of the main street of the village and josh was standing at the other end. he turned and as he did, a Hoeckler and Koch G-36 assault rifle appeared in his hand. his eyes furrowed into slits as he mouthed "your move" she grabbed a shotgun out of the holster on the side of her bike before she roared the bike towards him. he pointed the rifle towards her and pulled the trigger, making the rifle burst to life, spewing hot lead at Mara who had yet to fire a shot when one struck the front tire, making the bike flip, sending Mara falling to the ground. he dropped the empty gun to the ground and began walking towards Mara, who had a broken leg and was trying to crawl away towards a pistol. she almost had her hand on it, but Josh put his foot down on it, he kicked it away and Mara looked up to see the empty abyss of two cold hard steel barrels of his shotgun. he pulled the hammer back and said "Mara, i'm giving you this one chance to leave and never terrorise this town or any of the inhabitants again. if you don't, i swear by every villager present, i will end you. if you think i'm joking, just try me" she flinched and said "alright" he helped her up and said "go, get out of here" she started to walk away, when she turned and said "oh you'll get yours, our dark lord Tamiya will see to that" he turned and emptied both barrels into Mara, killing her instantly. she dropped to the ground and he turned, walking away until he sat down on a town bench. people started to slowly come out of their houses saying stuff like "is it safe, is she really gone?" he nodded and looked up to the sky again. the people started filing out of their houses, saying "yay, Mara's gone, now we're free" josh shook his head and said "no, i'm afraid you're not, not until that Tamiya guy is taken out. does anyone know where i can find this tamiya guy?" the villagers shook their heads, but a voice said "yes, i do. i've been there giving him gifts to stop him attacking this village" he turned and saw "Peorth?, now all i need is Urd and the gang's all here" he whispered to himself, before he said "alright, this is what's happening; you will lead me to his place where i will fight him. if i manage to win, i will return and you will be free, free to live your lives"

The sun rose into the sky, bathing the village in a light blue hue. josh was awake early, at that moment he was putting various items into the bags of the motorbike. he turned and saw Peorth approach him, she was dressed in light brown robes, with a head scarf covering her head "alright, i am ready" he nodded and walked up to the bike, swinging one leg over and sitting on it. she did the same and he kicked the kickstand up, before he started the bike and roared out away from the town. an hour later, they just exited the Elysian fields and had stopped the bike, so josh said "so, where to" Peorth replied "it's a day to the palace, you have to pass through the harbour city of Persephone" he nodded and started up the bike again, roaring down the road. a couple of hours later, they arrived at Persephone.

the city was bustling as various people went about their daily business. josh drove the bike up to the gate, and was stopped by the guard. they walked up and asked "so what's your business in our town, strangers?" josh removed his helmet and said "we just need a place to stay and rest the night, then we will be on our way" the guard nodded and said "alright, continue on. by the way, the best inn is the dancing dolphin, it has the best of everything, and it's cheap too" josh nodded and said "thanks" before he started the bike and drove into the town. as he did, they saw people ride by on horses and various vehicles and shops selling all different kinds of things, until they approached the inn. josh stopped the bike and got off, removing his helmet as Peorth did the same. he sat the helmet on the bike, turned to Peorth and said "listen, when we get to the palace, i want you to take the bike and leave, just get the hell out of dodge. i don't care where you go, just get as far away as you can" she nodded and said "alright, you have your reasons" he put his hand out in front of him and some coins appeared in it. he closed his hand and said "let's go my dear, we need some rest" josh went over to the door and held it open, saying "after you" she nodded and entered first, then josh, closing the door behind him. they approached the counter and sat down, as the bartender came over to them, saying "alright you two, what'll it be?" josh smiled and said "two of your finest and a room for the night" the bartender nodded and said "alright, that will be 20 gold eucha's" josh smiled and handed over the coins as the bartender sat the two mugs of beer onto the counter he drank his drink and said to the bartender "it's a real lively place, innit?" as they wiped an empty glass clean, they said "yeah, the music act is really good tonight, she comes all the way from a little town by the name of Yggdrasil, her name's Lind, she's really good. you should stay down here, she's really something" josh just thought for a second and said "i might, maybe later" he went up to his room and laid down onto the bed and rolled over. he heard the door open about ten minutes later, he rolled over to see Peorth, she had entered the room and was looking at him, asking "what's wrong?" he rolled back over and said softly "i did something wrong and it's eating me up inside" "what did you do that was so bad?" "back in my world, i'm currently married to two goddesses that i love like mad, but i did something wrong; i cheated on them" he may not have seen it, but Peorth's left eye twitched, before she asked "really, who with?" tears began falling from his cheek as he said "Hild. she was really depressed because she was lonely, so she asked me to make love to her. so i did, and now i feel like shit for i feel that i have betrayed my marriage vows" "no, you haven't" he rolled over and saw that Peorth was glowing. his eyes widened in suprise as the robes dissapeared to reveal that she was dressed in her Yggdrasilian formal clothes "Peorth? is it really you?" she nodded and said "yes josh, it's me. Urd suggested that one of us go in and help you in any way that you can, just so that at least, you know that you're not alone anymore" josh sat up and said "thank you Peorth, i love you both now more than ever" he got up off the bed and walked slowly over to her with tear-filled eyes as she opened her arms. he collapsed into her arms and sobbed softly "Peorth, please forgive me" she nodded and brushed his hair back, saying softly "it's alright josh, besides you always try to mean well in most you do, just it backfires" she put a finger under his chin and lifted him up until they were face to face, staring into each others eyes. she looked into his eyes and saw nothing but pain, sadness, so she kissed him on the lips. they released and he said "Peorth, i'm scared" her eyes widened in suprise, before he continued "i'm afraid that the darkness will win and i will cease to be who i am now. please Peorth, promise me" "what?" "promise me that if the darkness takes hold of me, that you will kill me" her eyes widened in horror before she said "josh, don't you talk like that, don't you dare. you are coming back to us, we won't lose you to the darkness, because we love you" he nodded and said "thank you Peo, that's all i ask, just for someone to tell me that i'll be alright" she nodded and said "yes. now let's get some rest, we've got a big day tommorrow, the quicker you get there and defeat it, the quicker that we can be together again" he nodded and they seperated as they stood up, before they moved over to the bed and laid on it, before they fell asleep in each others arms.

Josh awoke, opening his eyes, to look straight into Peorth's hazel coloured eyes and said softly "hey" she smiled and brushed a strand of hair aside and said "hey. guess it's time to go?" he brushed her cheek, kissed her on the head and said "if you tell me how to get to the guys palace, then you won't have to come" she shook her head and said "no. if can help in any way, i will" he smiled and said "alright, but the first sign of trouble, you get the hell away from there, alright?" she nodded as they sat up and climbed out of bed. ten minutes later, they exited the inn. josh sat down astride the bike and put his helmet on as Peorth did the same. he wheeled the motorcycle back and started it, making it roar to life as they drove towards the gate. they stopped at the gate and nodded towards the guard, who waived and said "alright, see ya" as they pressed a button on the wall, making the gate open. josh started the bike and they drove away, leaving the city and heading towards the unknown.

five hours later, josh stopped outside a massive castle. he removed his helmet and said "that it?" Peorth nodded and said "yep, that's it" he stood up from the bike and as he did, he reached behind his back and pulled out a massive RPG, aimed it and fired, blowing a massive hole in the side. he turned and said "alright Peorth, now this is your last chance, if you chose to come along, there is no turning back" she nodded and said "i, like Urd, will be with you until our bodies are destroyed" he smiled and said "alright, good to know" as he revved the motorbike and performed a burnout, making the tires squeal as he let go of the brakes and accelerated the motorbike, until they flew through the hole. the bike skidded to a stop, throwing both passengers off as it came to a rest against the wall, exploding on contact. josh got to his feet first, shaking his head before he ran over to Peorth and said "hey, wake up, HEY!!" as he tried to rouse her. she opened her eyes and said "hey. i can't go along with you right now, but just remember this, when the darkness threatens to take hold of you, we will always be there with you, in some cases, maybe not physically, but definitely in spirit, because we love you" he smiled and said "sure, just don't die on me" she nodded and said "hide me, i can heal myself, but it's gonna take some time" he scooped her into his arms and hid her in a side room. he locked the door and whispered "be safe Peorth, i will return for you" as he headed towards the exit door. he opened it and casually walked out into the main room with his hands in his pockets. he walked up the main path until he was stopped by two armoured guards, so he turned and said casually "oh hello, my name's joshua payne, i was wondering if i could see your boss. there's something i need to talk with him about" "sorry, ain't nobody getting through without permission" he furrowed his brow and put on his best pissed act and said "EXCUSE ME?, I AM HERE TO SEE YOUR BOSS AND IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO MOVE YOU LITTLE PEON, YOU UGLY LITTLE QUIM, THEN I WILL HAVE FUN DISMEMBERING YOU PEICE BY PEICE, NOW LET ME IN" the guard shivered nervously and said "Sorry sir, forgive my manners, it's just that i've been assigned to this post for two days straight" his expression changed to curiosity as he said "really? why?" "'scause i over slept one day, now Mr Tamiya has me workin this position for this long" josh stroked his chin and said "oh, i see. now, if you can let me in to see your boss, i will do something about getting you a better spot, alright?" the guard nodded and said "arright, but be careful, he can be a bit touchy" josh smiled and said "i see, thank you" the guard stepped out of the way and pressed a button on the wall, opening the door. josh smiled and strolled through the doorway and down a pathway, saying "hello? Mister Tamiya, or to give you your true name, Dark" as he exited the pathway and entered a massive courtyard, complete with burnt trees and a lone figure with one foot on the ledge, watching the river of plasma flow by. josh began to approach the person but stopped as the person stood and said "hello Joshua, i've been expecting you for a while now" josh folded his arms and said "great, now get the hell out of my head" they turned around and said "no. i created this situation, so that you would have to come to me. i wanted you to come to me so that i could warn you" josh released his arms and said "warn me? warn me about what?" they walked up closer and stopped, saying "someone you know is plotting to destroy you" they started walking back, until they reached the ledge. josh started to jog up to them saying "how can i believe you?" they smiled and said "well, you're going to have to make up your own damn mind" before they fell back into the plasma sea. josh ran up and looked out to the sea, saying "wait, who is it? who do i have to look out for?" a mysterious voice whispered "love is the key" he stood up, turned and began walking back down the pathway, until he approached the gateway. he said nothing as he walked past the guard and walked down the steps as Peorth approached him, saying "josh, are you okay?" he nodded and said softly "yeah, now let's get out of here" they held onto each other as the world faded away into blackness....

Josh opened his eyes and said softly "hey you", making Urd turn and say "hey, so how'd you go?". he sat up and said "well, i found out something interesting. apparently, someone is plotting to kill me" her eyes widened in horror as she said "what?? really?, who is it?" josh shook his head and said sadly "i really don't know" urd just shrugged her shoulders and said "ah well, you're here now, so that's all that matters" he smiled and said "yeah, guess you're right, where's Peorth" Urd kissed him on the head and said "she went to Yggdrasil again, she said there was something she needed to do" he nodded and said "alright, as long as she's safe" Urd nodded and said "alright pal, you're taking us all to dinner" he feigned suprise and said "who, me? i don't remember promising anything" she smiled and wrestled him to the ground. they both giggled as they rolled all over the floor, until they stopped with her pinning him to the floor. they sat there for a few minutes, just looking into each others eyes, before they kissed each other. "i love you Urd" he said as he kissed her "i know, i love you too". she rolled off him and said "go on, out you go. go and have a bath" he smiled, kissed her on the head and said "alright, i'll be back shortly" as he stood up and walked out of the room, down the corridor and down another hallway, towards the springs...
