the time rotor stopped, so the doctor turned and said sombrely "we've materialised at the temple. joshua, i'm sorry this had to happen the way it did" josh turned and said "it's alright doc, it wasn't you that killed her anyway, it was that son of a bitch" "joshua, if you want to, i shall help you with the funeral, alright?" josh nodded and said "alright" he knelt down and picked up Peorth's corpse, letting her hair fall as he carried her through the doors of the Tardis and into the temple.

as he entered the temple, he heard a voice say "joshua, what happened? oh no, what happened to peorth?" he turned and saw belldandy, she stood in the kitchen doorway with a horrified look on her face, so she dropped to the floor and began crying. at the sound of this, the back porch door opened as Keiichi and Skuld came into the room. keiichi went over to belldandy and said "what's wrong bell-chan?" she pointed to josh, who turned and showed them Peorths corpse. skuld began to cry as she saw her, while keiichi held belldandy close.

two weeks later at the yggdrasilian cemetary, the horse-drawn hearse carrying peorth's coffin was given an yggdrasilian royal guard of honour as it made it's way to the cemetary. when it was loaded and the ceremony began, josh had his arm around urd, holding her close. even hild was present, she'd been given special access to yggdrasil for the funeral. josh looked over and saw peorth's mother as she was crying and being consoled by her husband. the valkyries gave a twenty-one rifle salute as kami-sama spoke. after the ceremony, josh walked over to inara (peorth's mother, not firefly inara) and said "i'm so sorry" as he held her hand "if there's anything you need me to do for you, anything at all, don't hesitate to ask" she looked up to him and said "it's alright joshua. peorth forgave you, so i will as well" as she kissed him on the cheek "take care of that other wife of yours, urd" he nodded and said "i will" as he kissed her on her cheek and let go of her hand, heading back to Urd, who was being consoled by her mother "Hild, what an unexpected suprise to see you in heaven" she turned and said "my ex husband gave me special permission on account of that he would be wanting us both there to comfort the two of you" "thank you hild" he said, shaking her hand and kissing her on the cheek as well. it was then that they heard urd groan and say "mom, josh, i think my waters just broke" josh's jaw dropped before he yelled out "someone get an ambulance, my wife's having a baby"

Part Seven..

later at the hospital, the emergency doors swung open and in came two paramedic gods carrying urd on a stretcher as she moaned in pain. josh followed behind but not before a nurse goddess stopped him, saying "you canot go in there, you must wait until the doctors are finished" josh nodded and sat down on one of the chairs in the emergency room, just before the doors opened as Hild, the doctor, belldandy, sakura, keiichi, kami-sama, skuld and rind entered. "how're you feeling champ, now that you've got a baby on the way?" asked the doctor as he sat down next to him "it's the best peice of news i've gotten in a while" "oh, i can't believe i'm going to be a grandmother. i'm so excited" said hild, who was bouncing on the seat like a child. they looked at her and josh looked to the doctor and joked "i think someone needs a nap" the doctor smiled and let out a laugh as the others did as well. Hild stopped bouncing and glared at them, making them stop laughing. an hour later, as josh was getting something to eat and was just about to sit down, the emergency doors swung open. everyone turned to see the surgeon approach the group "Joshua Payne?" josh nodded and they said "congratulations, you're now the blessed father of a beautiful set of twins, one girl and one boy" josh's jaw dropped at the news of this, before he turned and suprised the doctor by hugging him "good on you joshua. you go on ahead, we'll stay here until they say we can come to her room" josh nodded and turned to the surgeon, who said "follow me" as he walked down the corridor with josh next to him

".... the surgery was a complete success, but she's a little woozy from the drugs we had to give her, so she may not be able to make any sense, but she'll be alright. if you need anything?" josh put his hand up and said "nope, i think we'll be alright for now" the doctor walked away as josh turned and pushed open the door to see his wife, she was lying in bed with a serene look on her face as she slept. josh couldn't help it, so he smiled at her, even though she didn't know it. he grabbed a chair and sat down next to her. he looked up to her sleping form, noting how content and peaceful she looked, even though she went through the whole child-birth ordeal as he softly held her hand. she opened her eyes slowly at first, until she was wide awake. she turned slightly and saw josh, he was smiling at her "hey you" she said weakly, obviously still groggy with the effects of the drugs "hey you, just take it easy urd-chan" she smiled at first and then she started giggling "what?, what's so funny?" she stopped laughing and looked to him, before she said "it's just that this is the first time that you've called me 'urd-chan'" josh stood up, kissed her on the head and said "that's because i love you, urd-chan" "so i guess you've heard?" "yep, i'm over the bloody moon luv. here i am, married to a beautiful goddess and i am the father of twins. a little under a year ago, i would've thought this strange if someone told me that i was to live this life" josh said, smiling as he sat down. the door opened and in came hild, kami-sama, belldandy, skuld and the doctor "hey, where's keiichi?" "oh, i had to return him to the temple, the poor fellow mentioned something about an exam that he had to take" "i see" "how're you feeling nee-san?" asked belldandy as she sat down, her beautiful young daughter looking around the room as she sat in her mothers lap "i'm fine, just a little woozy is all. it's nothing to worry about bell" she said as she looked over to josh, looking into his eyes "Josh, i need to apologise for what i did last week. i hope you can forgive me?" Josh nodded and said "yeah, it wasn't like i wasn't used to it anyways. so urd-chan (she giggled at this again) what do you think our children are going to be like? do you reckon they will be one third god and goddess, one third demon and demoness and one third shadows?" "we'll just have to wait and see, won't we Josh-san?" he stood up, leant over and kissed her on her lips. they let go and he stroked her silver hair, saying "get some rest Urd-chan, we'll see you tomorrow, alright?" she nodded , so he turned to the others and said "alright, come on then, let's go" they all filed out of the room, until josh was standing in the doorway. he turned and said "i love you urd-chan. just thoughtcast me if you need anything, alright?" she nodded as he walked out into the hallway "so what're you going to do now josh, do you want to come home with us or stay here?" "i might just grab something to eat and get cleaned up first, so i'll come back and then i'll decide on what to do next, alright?" Belldandy nodded and said "alright, i think it's about time we went home after all of the excitement of today, agreed?" they all nodded and belldandy disappeared through a mirror carrying her daughter in her arms while skuld left through a glass of hot tea. Josh put his hands in his pockets and was about to leave when the doctor said "hey josh, i'll give you a lift home, alright? just let me know if you want to return" he nodded and said "alright, i think i've exhausted myself enough for today. lets go doc" he and the doctor left, heading down the corridors until they exited the waiting room and found The Doctor's tardis parked underneath the shade of an evergreen tree "alright, lets go" he said as he unlocked his time and spacial travelling machine, before he and josh stepped inside. a minute later, a loud wheezing sound could be heard as the Tardis faded away from where it'd been standing five seconds ago.

it faded into the back yard of the temple, before the door opened as josh stepped out and then the doctor. josh turned and the doctor said "here is where we must part" "oh really? so soon?" "yes, i wish to travel a little longer. farewell josh, i will meet you again someday, mabye in this form, maybe in the next. we'll see how it goes" josh nodded and said "alright, goodbye doctor" as he stretched out his hand. the doctor looked at him and then looked down to his hand before he took it, shaking his hand and saying "take care of urd, alright?" "i will" "goodbye joshua payne. may we meet again some place, somewhere" he said as he entered back into the tardis. a minute later, the tardis faded away from reality, leaving josh to stand alone in the back yard of the temple. "oh well, it was fun" he muttered, before he turned and headed into the temple of which he was almost beginning to call home. he entered through the porch and said "you there belldandy?" "yes joshua, what is it?" "nothing, i was just checking to see if anyone was here. if anyone needs me, i'll be in the bath" "alright, dinner will be served shortly joshua" "alright belldandy" josh said as he removed his jacket, slinging it over his shoulder as he headed out of the den.

as he sat in the warm bath, he looked up at the ceiling, taking in the situation, but not before an image flashed in his mind, making him grab his forehead in pain. a man, no a young boy. an arm of metal, and a leg of metal. standing beside a suit of armour battling a woman, no a man. they had a hairstyle which reminded him of sideshow bob from the simpsons. josh gasped as the images faded away, before he noticed he was back in the bathroom. he got up and tried to climb out of the bath but slipped and smacked his head against the sink. he fell to the floor, the door opened and in came belldandy, keiichi and skuld "josh, are you alright?" he rolled over slightly and they saw a massive gash along his forehead, before it began sealing up and the blood drying before it turned into dust and blew away with the breeze.

josh was sitting at the kitchen table dressed in a pair of khaki pants and a black singlet and was clutching a cup of tea with both hands, looking to the others as they entered the room "so, i guess you three'll be wanting an explanation huh?" they nodded, so he took in a deep breath and said "well, when i was in the bath, i got a vision" keiichi looked at him weirdly while the two norns just stared at him with their eyes wide in suprise "hey, what's with you two?" "josh, no-one either demonic or heavenly has ever had the gift of foresight. you're the first recorded soul who has the true ability" "so that's what it is, a bloody pain in the arse" he said, taking a sip of his drink. "alright, i guess i'll be getting back to urd. see you guys" he said as he floated up to a shadow portal which opened up in the ceiling"

back at the hospital room in Yggdrasil, urd was lying propped up in bed, watching the television when she heard an almighty bang, then a thud!! followed by a "bloody hell, i've got to remember there's a friggin wall there" before josh stumbled out, clutching his head, moaning slightly before he said softly "ow" she shook her head slightly and said "josh, what am i going to do with you?" "whatever you want urd-chan, whatever you want" he said as he sat down on the bed before she leant over and kissed him. "urd, i need to tell you something" "what is it?" "when i was sitting in the bath, taking it all in,i had a vision. in it, i saw a young man with an arm and a leg made of metal, like mine. he was standing next to a suit of armour and they happened to be fighting a man who had a kind of pineapple hairdo. they also seemed to be fighting in a cathedral of some sort" "i see" she said, getting over the shock of josh's revelation "well, when i get out of here, we'll go and see father about it, alright?" he nodded and said "thank you urd-chan" she kissed him on the head and he was out like a light, thanks to a sleep spell urd had cast as she kissed him, so he laid there in her arms asleep as she stroked his brown hair, "rest josh, you need it" she said before before she fell asleep as well.

for once, josh had a peaceful nights sleep. he didn't dream of death or other horrors. he opened his eyes slowly to stare up into urd's face "hey you" she said, kissing him tenderly on his head "i love you Urd, you complete me. i feel whole when we're together.

"nothing" he sat up slowly and said "we should really think up names for our children" she gasped and said "you're right, we never got around to it, so what do we call them?" "well, how about we call our daughter peorth?" they fell silent for a minute in remeberance before urd put her arms around his waist softly, saying "sure, we owe it to her. so now for the boy, what do we call him?" "how about malcolm?" he suggested "well, i guess. i mean, it's a good strong name" "plus we can call him "mal" if we want to" "yeah, there is that. alright, malcom it is" she said as she kissed him on the lips "we should really go and see our children" "yeah, guess we oughta" he said as he stood off the bed. he held his arm out to help her off the bed before they left the room and headed down a corridor, and then another, until they came to a glass window which let people see into the nursery. josh tapped on the glass and a goddess approached the glass "payne, the payne babies" he said. the goddess nodded and went to fetch two bundles. she returned with two babies in her arms, the girl had lightly tanned skin like her mother and hints of soft brown hair, she was so beautiful. the boy had light skin, like his father and hints of platinum hair like his mother, he was beautiful as well.josh held urd close to his chest as she said "they're beautiful aren't they?" he nodded and said "you bet. you can go now" so the nurse floated over to the baskets, putting the children gently back inside.

as they returned to the room and sat down, the door opened and in came belldandy, skuld and rind "i've managed to speak with the doctor, he said that the two of you can leave as soon as you sign the papers today" said rind as they all sat down "so how do you feel nee-san?" asked belldandy as sakura giggled happily on her mothers lap "really good because we went to see our children before and they are beautiful, as beautiful as when i saw you on the day you were born belldandy" "that's alright, so how do you feel josh-san?" "fine, could be better but fine none the less" he said as he kissed urd "well, we might as well go then" "yeah, i guess you're right. let's go everyone" she said as she magically changed back into her basic clothes "oh nee-san, i almost forgot, mother wants to see you and the children. she didn't mention that she wanted to see josh-san though" "figures, she's pissed at me for marrying her step-daughter. ah well, i guess it can't hurt for you to go and see your step mother, just promise me you'll stay out of trouble and be back soon, alright?" she nodded and said "sure, i'll go after we've settled back at home. i guess you might be right, she probably hates the idea of me marrying a shadow man, oh well" she climbed off the bed and headed to the door, accompanied by the group.

keiichi sat in the den, reading a magazine as he noticed a ring begin to appear in the center of the room "they're back" he muttered as urd floated up first, carrying two bundles in her arms followed by josh who came flying out, smacking into the roof first, then the floor. he stood up, dusted himself off and said "ow" he saw keiichi, so he turned and said "hey keiichi, did the others show up yet?" "yeah, skuld's in her room and belldandy's just gone shopping, she told me to wait for you two and make sure you two got back alright. oh and josh, how about you move in now instead of living at the dorm? besides, tamiya and ootaki sure as heck wouldn't allow urd to stay with you" josh nodded and then shuddered thinking "damn, he's right. those two will keelhaul me for it" he smiled and then said aloud "yeah, why not, these kids need their parents, both of us so i'll move into urd's room. let's go my dear" he said as they walked out of the den and through the corridor, each holding a child as they approached her room. she opened it with one hand as she passed into her room, josh followed in after her. in the room sat two new cots in which they laid their children in before they laid on the bed, josh holding urd close. they laid there in silence for five minutes before belldandy knocked on the door "nee-san, is it alright to come in?" "sure belldandy" she said as they sat up. she opened the door and said "so these are your children, what're their names?" "malcolm for the boy and Peorth for the girl" "how come you named your daughter peorth? is it because..." her voice trailed off as they looked away "i'm sorry nee-san, josh-san, i didn't mean to bring it up" "'salright belldandy. come and have a look at them if you want" "alright" she said as she went over and looked at the children, smiling as they gooed and gahhed as well "they're beautiful, just beautiful. i reckon that she would've loved to have seen them. i'll call mother and tell her that you're on your way?" "yeah" she turned to josh and said "i'm sorry josh, sorry that you have to stay here by yourself" "what do you mean?" "belldandy and skuld's mother also wants to see keiichi as well. i'm sorry, i'll try to come back as soon as i can, alright" he nodded and said "sure. i love you urd and i trust you" before he kissed her "so what is your mother supposed to be exactly?" belldandy sighed and said "she is the goddess of marriges and such" he rolled his eyes and said "just great, now i really don't trust her, but i have faith that urd will be alright" "thank you josh" said urd as she stood before him, holding Malcolm's cradle in one hand and Peorth's in the other. she kissed him on the cheek and said "i'll be back soon, alright josh?" he nodded and said "be careful urd-chan" she nodded and said "alright" as she dissapeared into the television set, belldandy dissapearing through the mirror in urd's room. he sighed and went into the lounge room, where he noticed that it was empty as well, so he sighed again and sat down, turning the television on as well.
