he was lying on the couch, watching the movie "blade trinity" around 10:30pm when he felt an arm on his shoulder. he grabbed it, flipped the person over him and sat on them with a knife drawn accross their throat when he realised who it was "hild? what the hell're you doing here. jesus, i could've killed you or had a heart attack" "it was fun though" she said as she got to her feet and sat down on the couch as he did "so what're you doing here?" "my little urd-chan thought that you might need some company while she goes to see her step-mother. i'm kind of pissed though that she didn't invite you. i thought that she would've, seeing as you're now her step-daughter's husband" "i've been pondering that fact as well hild, the only answer i can think of is that she despises what i've become" "you might be right. so what're you watching?" "i've almost finished watching blade trinity. i was thinking of going to get a movie and a pizza for dinner" "i'll come too if you want?" "sure, up to you" he said as he stood, putting his jacket on. he grabbed his wallet and stepped outside "banpei, no unauthorised access unless directed by me or the others" a whistle sound mean that he recieved the order. he turned and saw hild as she exited. she put her shoes on and walked behind him as they walked down the road. while she was following, she thought "urd-chan didn't call me, i was watching and figured you'd need some company. you've been alone for long enough. tommorow i'm going there and tell that woman to back off and give you a go" he noticed out the croner of his eye that hild was looking at him, so he stopped and said "what is it hild?" "oh, nothing. i'm just thinking" "oh, fair enough" he said as they walked the night streets of the city until they came to the blockbuster video shop they entered and he said "if you want to hild, go and get one, my treat" "i know i don't say this often, but thank you josh" "you're very welcome hild, now have a look and see what you want while i do so" he said as he went off in another direction

he returned to the counter and she asked "so what'd you get?, i got house of 1000 corpses" "i got serenity, it's supposed to be really good" "we'll see" she said as she handed him the DVD. after they left, they stopped by a pizza shop and bought a large hawaiian and carried it back. "banpei, patrol mode" called josh as they approached the temple. they entered the den and sat the bag on the couch as they did as well "so which do you want to watch first?" "serenity" "alright" said hild as josh stood up and headed to the coffe table as a dvd player appeared on it and stuck in serenity.

they were three-quarters of the way through serenity when the phone rang. josh sat up and grabbed it lazily

Josh: "hello?"

Voice: "is this joshua payne?"

Josh: "speaking"

Voice: "it's rind"

Josh: "oh rind, how've you been since we last met?"

Rind: "fine, i'm alright. we've got a problem"

Josh: "what is it?"

Rind: "their mother has arranged a marridge"

josh: "so? what's this got to do with me?"

rind: "it's urd she's forcing to marry"

josh: "that bitch!, who's there with you?"

Rind: "skuld's here, shes the one who told me"

Josh: "alright. rind, i'm on my way"

Rind: "alright josh, i will hear from you soon" (hangs up phone)

Part eight

josh put the reciever down and Hild saw what looked to be rage building inside josh "hey josh, are you alright?" "that vindictive little bitch. she wants to marry off urd to some tosser god because she hates me and what i've become" he stood and a massive black trenchcoat appeared on him. he grabbed a neatly hidden packet of cigarettes from a pocket and lit one, placing it to his lips. he took a puff, grabbed two western-style revolvers and spun them on his fingers, before he said "oh yeah, time to go to work boys" he stepped outside and hild put a hand on his shoulder, saying "i'm coming too" "no" he said coldly "this is something i need to do for myself" "alright, just be careful" "i will" he said, nodding as a line appeared in the air, opening to reveal a shadow portal in which he stepped through, into a garden. he looked up and saw a massive cathedral "well, i guess that's it" he said as he re-adjusted his jacket. he reached the steps and began walking up them before he was stopped by two guard gods "who're you, you're not allowed in" "yeah, so piss off pal, you're not invited" said the second. josh just turned his head and smiled

inside the church, the priest was saying "now if anyone has anything to say to object, speak now or forever hold your piece" it was then that the cathedral doors opened and a voice shouted "URD!!!!!" she turned and saw josh, he was wide-eyed and furious "JOSH" she called back, before she started running away from the altar towards josh "stop them. he'll ruin everything" said a woman, presumably their mother. five gods surrounded josh and another two grabbed urd "NOO" he shouted "LET HER GO!!!" "no" she said as the feeling of dread and helplessness overcame him, before he felt the rise of that old familiar feeling, the feeling he both loathed and loved; of rage and anger. two knives suddenly appeared in his hands "c'mon you assholes, i'll take all you bitches on"

GO!!

it was then that all five leapt on him at once and smothered him in a pile

under the pile, josh was starting to have memories flash in his mind. the time she kissed him, when he saw her as they made love "i love you joshua, and nothing can change that" her voice whispered in his head "i need you as much as you need me" she had said also. he remembered her beauty, her smile, her way she walked, and how she cried that night at the look out "i must save urd, she's all that matters to me. without her, i've got nothing left to live for" he said as a tear began to fall from his eye.

all of a sudden, the pile got lighter and he felt a hand on his shoulder lift him up

he looked up and saw rind "what the hell is going on rind?" she lifted him to his feet and he saw hild as well "what the hell're you two doing here?"

"you've done more for us and sacrificed more than any one of us, so we're here to return the favour" said hild as she brought out a broadsword and threw it to josh. he caught it, looked at it and the runes inscribed on the blade which glowed a dull green before he smiled, wiping a tear from his eye

"thank you guys" he said before he turned and said "NOW, let her go or you're going to tase my blade, every single one of you pussies" lightning crackled around the church, making the other gods and goddesses start running out of the church, until it was just josh, hild, urd, rind, belldandy, skuld, keiichi, sakura, malcolm, peorth, the guy she was supposed to be marrying, the two guys holding urd and the seven now surrounding hild, josh and rind

Suddenly youre shot irreparably

"alright hild, i'd say they're not gonna hand her over without a fight, you two ready?" hild nodded, holding two katanas while rind drew her battle axes. "LETS GO!!!" he shouted as they attacked.

three flew up into the rafters after josh, swinging their swords while josh dodged and blocked, taunting "jeez, who taught you to fight, you suck" he landed on the ground and backflipped, just barely avoiding being spit in two by a massive ax. a second sword appeared in his other hand "that's more like it. don't think i won't hesitate to kill gods, because i will kill if i need to" he said before the three charged at him again

he spun and let fly with the swords. the two gods weilding samurai swords dropped onto the floor dead as they spilt their blood onto josh, who just stood there, his face partially crimson coloured like his clothes because of the blood. "lady, i won't back down, so dont think i will" he said boldly as his grip tightened on the blades "i've come here for urd and our children. i will leave with them one way or another" he said as he began walking towards the goddess who now backed away in fear as hild and rind dispatched the other two.

all of a sudden, josh was tackled by the man standing at the altar. they landed on the ground with their hands around each other's knecks. they rolled over so josh was on top of the man; he let go of the man and began punching him in the face until they let go. he stood and stepped back as he noticed they rose to their feet "jesus, why can't you just die mutherfucker!!" they flew at him. josh had a second to move, so he did and leapt over him. they landed and urd said "josh, you can't beat him easily because he's Tyr, the god of war" "fucking hell" he cried "now she tells me" he turned and a smiled formed on his lips "ah hell, whatever happens, happens". he looked up and saw them running up at him with a fist ready to fly, so josh did the same. when he got to him, josh just ducked, suprising Tyr and punched him in the gut, making him stagger back "that's hood justice bitch. respect this nigga and don't you ever go and forget it or next time i'll fuck you up, you little bitch!" he said as he turned and limped over to the two gods who had held Urd. they trembled and began backing away, releasing urd as they did "hey you" he said softly "hey you" she replied as she kissed him "belldandy, could you guys grab them, i've got my hands full with him" she said as he groaned "oh man am i gonna be sore tomorrow" "go on then, take the whore, like i wanted that half-breed slut anyway" said a voice which made them turn around and see tyr as he stood to his feet "shit, this asshole doesn't learn" "i know" she said before she turned and said "tyr, if you ever come near anyone of us, i'll kill you myself" everyone's eyes went wide at this, except josh, who just looked up and smiled, saying "that's my girl" they began walking out of the church again, followed by the others.

josh was suprised when he saw a massive bug looking ship parked on the road in front of the church "serenity? you guys flew serenity here?" "yeah, it kept us hidden off heavens radar. lets get the hell out of here" said hild as she opened the the cargo bay doors. they clambered in and hild closed the doors, saying "alright kami, we're in" "ALRIGHT, WE'RE OUT OF HERE" "kami-sama?" "he was the one who helped us to avoid detection" "i see" he said before he passed out "oh well, he's asleep. let's get him into the medical bay" said urd as she carried him through a door and down some steps, as they reached what appeared to be the medical quarters. Urd laid him on the seat as skuld came up to the doorway "urd, is he going to be alright?" "we'll see" she said as she removed his jacket and shirt, exposing his chest. she grimaced as she saw what appeared to be two gashes from the swords. she was suprised to see the wounds close, the blood dry and dissolve into dust "that's one hell of a trick" she said as she grabbed a blanket "skuld, do you mind?" she blushed and said "oh, i'm sorry" she said as she ran off "well josh, it seems you've had quite an effect on us. it's because of you that we're getting along again" she thought as she covered him with the blanket. she grabbed a chair and sat down next to him, holding his hand.

"alright everyone, we're about to land back at the temple, everybody off" said hild as a slight shaking motion alearted everyone. urd opened her eyes and saw that she was lying on the seat, covered by the blanket. "josh?" she sat up and saw josh leaning against the window of the room, he sat there shirtless and had a cigarette in his mouth. he noticed her looking at him, so he turned and asked "what?" "nothing, i didn't know you smoked" "i didn't, i only started when i was reborn in joawil's body. he told me that i can smoke or whatever and it won't do any damage to it, so i'm safe from lung cancer though i can still get sick from other things" "oh alright. you want to put a shirt on?" "yeah, i should really, shouldn't i?" he stood and a black shirt appeared on his torso.

the ship shook as it landed, deploying it's "feet" josh got to jos feet, helping up urd before he went to the radio and said "jeez, you mind landing a bit smoother next time?" "sorry" came the reply, so he turned and said "alright, lets go" he said as they exited the bay and entered the main cargo bay "hey guys, how are you josh?" asked rind as she walked down the steps towards them "fine, and how're we feeling today rind?" "good, especially now that's over" "yeah, he said as skuld, belldandy and keiichi re-joined them, handing over the two baskets containing Malcolm and Peorth "good, these two are safe, how've they been?" "the picture of perfection, like their parents. when you were fighting Tyr, they were really upset and i could've sworn i felt something" "i see".
