[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
The Great Super Saiyan 5: Okay, here's another disclaimer for all you sue-happy freaks- and you know who you are!

Disclaimer: Don't own the subject matter, won't try to buy it either. Too expensive!

Kaerlos: The most the author has ever had at one time was about $250-300. No suing, no rights-buying.

TGSS5: Gonna have an interesting prank in this story, and what makes it more interesting is who the pranked person is and who he's with. What makes it downright strange is who comes up with the idea. Read and find out! By the way, where're Bardock and Shion...? Ah, nevermind.

Kaerlos: START THE DAMN CHAPTER ALREADY!

KOS-MOS: Calm down, Kaerlos.

Everyone else: *is still distracted from after last chapter, all in various ways*

TGSS5: By the way, at this part I never saw KOS-MOS so I'm making up what she does freehand.

Last chapter ended with:
Neither could quite work up the courage to tell the other of their growing feelings for each other. Their training session continued for an hour before Bardock called for a break. Shion gratefully sank down onto her knees, panting and sweating. After the attack she had given up on her decorative glasses, so she didn't have to worry about them falling off.

Chapter 6
The Prank Card

One week, three days after the hyperspace battle...

The Elsa had just docked at a space dock known for hating the military. Kaerlos and KOS-MOS were sitting in the rec room talking to Shion as she played a strange card game called Xeno Card on a computer. Lately she'd been spending all her money on buying card packs trying to find new cards to add to her deck. She hadn't played in the tournaments yet, though, despite gathering quite a collection of cards.

"I'd like to find out what you see in that game," Kaerlos commented, hiding a request in his comment.

"That'd be nice," KOS-MOS agreed semi-absently. She had just started using contractions the day before, and was still adjusting. Also, she was leaning on Kaerlos and finding that rather distracting.

"Want me to lend you my passport sometime?" Shion offered. After all, as head of the Vector 1st R&D division, she sure as hell wasn't stupid! Fairly naive, maybe, but not stupid. At least she wasn't as naive as Goku had proven to be.

"Sure, why not," Kaerlos said, trying to sound offhanded and failing pretty badly.

Just then Bardock entered the room. "Hey guys, Cherenkov's disappeared. Ziggy, chaos, and I have already volunteered to look for him. Does anyone want to help?"

Shion nodded. "Alright, I'll go. Wait a sec, though, okay?" She then turned and held out a 3"x2" card labeled 'Xeno Card' to Kaerlos. "Here's my passport. Try it while I'm helping them look for the Commander- you wanted to, after all." She waited until he took the passport- snatched might be more accurate, though- before standing to leave with Bardock.

As soon as she left, Kaerlos sat in the chair she had just vacated and slid the passport through a slot that seemed to be made for that purpose. Immediately a screen popped up showing a menu. Since he didn't know how to play, he read some of the entries under the Help option until he was sure he had a fairly good idea of the rules. After that, he started looking through (and modifying, to suit his style, though the original wasn't too far off) Shion's deck, saving his version under another of the five entries possible for decks.

For a trial, he played an exhibition match and won easily, incidentally getting a pack of cards. After he had assured himself that his deck did, indeed, work, he decided to try a tournament. He won that, too, though the deck that was obviously designed to draw its opponents to death gave him a hard time, and for a prize he got five more card packs plus a promotional card. He opened the packs of virtual cards, finding little that was kept, and went to the View Cards option to see what the promo card he had gotten was. When he saw what it was, he whistled. "Shion looks good in a swimsuit," he commented.

KOS-MOS, peering over his shoulder, agreed. "Yeah, she does. Hmmm..." Her face took on a thoughtful look, which quickly turned mischievous. "Did you notice that Bardock seems to like Shion?"

Kaerlos nodded warily in spite of himself. "Yeah... so?"

KOS-MOS smiled. "Have you ever tried picture projection? I was just thinking maybe you could send this to him as a prank."

At first Kaerlos's eyes widened at the thought. Then, he smiled in his typical I'm-going-to-prank-someone fashion as he said, "Good idea, KOS-MOS! It just might help him get his priorities straight, too. I've done image projection before. I think I'll let him know the source, too. Here goes!"

*~~~~~~~~~~~~*

The search party had just found out that Cherenkov was headed for the docks when Bardock stopped walking suddenly, wide eyed. When everyone looked at him, puzzled, he said, "Hey, Shion, did you know that card game you've been fascinated with has you in a swimsuit in it?"

"WHAT?!" Shion shouted, predictably.

*~~~~~~~~~~~~*

"Message delivered!" Kaerlos said triumphantly, smirking his 'gotcha!' smirk. KOS-MOS sat silently beside him, mirroring his smirk surprisingly well. He exited View Card mode and trounced another tournament, again getting five card packs and a promo card. He opened the packs, found no keepers, and looked under the deck builder to find that the promo card was a duplicate of the swimsuit Shion card.

Shion entered as he was on the last match of a third tournament. "Why did you tell Bardock that lie about that card of me in a swimsuit?" she demanded immediately. She saw but did not comment on KOS-MOS' still-present smirk.

"For one thing, it wasn't my idea. For another, it wasn't a lie. I'll show you after I finish this tournament," Kaerlos said. "Let's see, put this here, put that there... play that as a backup... There! I win! Again." After he got his usual prize of card packs and a promo card, he opened the packs, found nothing of interest, and entered the Deck Builder mode, where he found that the prize included a third copy of the card Shion had been promised a view of.

When she saw his claims were true, Shion blinked before shouting, "Where'd they get that picture?"

Bardock heard that as he walked in. "I don't know, but at least you... look good in it..." he said hesitantly.

Shion didn't know whether to thank him for the compliment or yell at him for even saying anything positive about the situation, so she settled for glaring. Bardock looked slightly nervous despite being far stronger than her and being aware of it. Then he froze, staring into space. Shion, surprised and scared, turned to Kaerlos and asked, "What's wrong with him?"

Kaerlos attempted a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, this happens fairly regularly. Ever since a certain incident, he's had periods where he sees glimpses into the future," he explained. "He predicted the destruction of Planet Vegeta before it happened, and even the being who did it. He also saw glimpses of who would beat that being. Be nice if I got to have a crack at him, though. Ah, he's coming out of it. What was your vision of this time?"

Indeed, Bardock had come out of it. "During a hyperspace jump, we'll be pulled out midway by an army of Gnosis. We'll then be absorbed into the largest one. That's all I saw, though," he stated.

"I've got the feeling that it's gonna be soon. Better get ready," Kaerlos said.

"I don't really believe him, but I'll be ready anyway," Shion said skeptically.

< br> Trunks: Is it me or are the chapters getting shorter?

TGSS5: Three guesses what happens next chapter.

Bardock: Someone on the ship will die in the event I just described. Who? Read and find out if you don't already know.

Kaerlos: Yeah, what he said.

Goku: I wanna talk, too!

Vegeta: Shut up, you idiot.

TGSS5: *fills the room with Super Saiyan 4 strength itching powder by snapping his fingers* Don't get de-distracted or I'll make a new distraction.

Everyone else: *is scratching itches furiously*

TGSS5: Anyway, stay tuned for the next chapter, The Prophecy! Also, I STILL haven't gotten any reviews! It'd be nice if I got one, even if it's to say "Good job, keep it up". I'd prefer constructive criticism, though. Remember, I take silence as a go-ahead to keep going in the same way.
