The Great Super Saiyan 5: Here's a disclaimer, whether I like it or not...

Disclaimer: If I owned DBZ, DBGT, and/or Xenosaga I'd be rich. I'm almost broke. Take a guess about what I DON'T own.

Everyone else: *is too busy scratching itches to comment*

TGSS5: They'll be scratching for days unless I decide to cure them. I even got some in their clothes. I'm immune to the itching powder I made, of course. It's my story, I can do what I want. I AM ALMIGHTY! *bursts into insane laughter* Ahem... sorry 'bout that.

Kaerlos: *still scratching* YOU BASTARD!

KOS-MOS: *watching others scratch holes in their skin* That powder must have had some significance...

Goku: *scratching* Even I can tell that this stuff's itching powder! She doesn't seem too bright!

Kaerlos: *scratching on auto* Hey! That's my girlfriend you're talking about!

Vegeta: *also scratching* Finally, the "great" Kakarot admits his idiocy.

Goku: *continues scratching* I'd nail ya for that comment, but I'm too itchy.

TGSS5: Okay, let's start the chapter. I'll try not to let all the scratching distract me.

Last chapter ended with:
Indeed, Bardock had come out of it. "During a hyperspace jump, we'll be pulled out midway by an army of Gnosis. We'll then be absorbed into the largest one. That's all I saw, though," he stated.

"I've got the feeling that it's gonna be soon. Better get ready," Kaerlos said.

"I don't really believe him, but I'll be ready anyway," Shion said skeptically.

Chapter 7
The Prophecy

Four days after the pit stop at the space dock...

I walked into my father's throne room. It had been 13 years since we conquered the planet that was now called Vegeta. I was now 15. I had been told all my life that my name meant "best of the best." If so, I lived up to it. There was nothing anyone else could do that I couldn't do better after a little practice. I specialized in fighting, of course, but it was obvious I had many other skills. I had just returned from ten years of learning new skills and mastering old ones. The "old ones" were all fighting skills I had created, though I never tried them on actual targets before I left. The new skills included several that my father, mother, and subjects never thought a Saiyan could learn. Oh, enough reminiscing, I was at the base of Father's throne. Time to kneel. Only lip service, though, just like Frieza. Neither could possibly do anything to hurt me.

"So... you have returned, Kaerlos," my father, King Vegeta, greeted me.

"I have," I replied, only following protocol since it was obvious I was there. Inside, I smirked. I had reached and surpassed a state most Saiyans only dreamed of in the first five years of my life, and I only went uphill from there. Start at the top? Only the top of the social ladder. There is no true top for the thing Saiyans value most: strength.

"So what have you learned about yourself, my son?" Father asked.

Now I truly smirked as I looked up at him. "I am the one. I have exceeded Frieza... regardless of his true strength."

Father looked interested at that announcement. "Really... Can you show me what enables you to do that?"

My smirk grew, my eyes closed, and I started to laugh softly. Then I made a show of going Super Saiyan. Everyone gasped as they saw my hair stand up, then stared as it and my tail glowed blue before the glow died, leaving the blue. I ignited my aura to show that it had turned gold instead of its usual red. Then I opened my eyes to show they had turned turquoise instead of red. The few other ki-sensitives in the room stared in horror due to my power. I decided to announce what I had done for those who didn't know. "I am a Super Saiyan."

Pandemonium broke out in the throne room at that announcement. I decided to scare the sensitives even more so I went Super Saiyan 2. "He got even stronger?!" one cried in shock mixed with mortal terror.

"Not only that," I continued as if he had never spoken, "I have exceeded Super Saiyan." The chaos that broke out from that announcement made the reaction to me being a Super Saiyan seem calm.

Kaerlos woke up, surprised he had actually had a good dream. He attributed it to the fact that he had a girlfriend now. He looked over at said girlfriend and smiled when she smiled at him. "Enjoy your dream?" she asked.

Kaerlos nodded vigorously, saying, "Yes, I did. Especially since it's not that nightmare anymore." KOS-MOS gave him a small kiss on the lips before standing up. He stood with her and took her hand, and the two headed off for breakfast.

By now the others on the ship had gotten used to Kaerlos and KOS-MOS arriving together at breakfast, so they hardly looked twice before going back to eating. Shion brought in half a dozen roasts for him, cooked by Vegeta, who was a surprisingly good cook. When he was done with those he stood up and left, followed by KOS-MOS, eliciting strange glances and small whispers among the others. This was odd; he usually stayed around until the others started leaving before even standing up.

*~~~~~~~~~~~~*

When Kaerlos stopped, KOS-MOS asked, "What's wrong? You haven't been acting like yourself ever since you found out we're gate jumping later today."

Kaerlos sighed and looked at the ceiling. "I've got a bad feeling about this next gate jump." He looked at the floor and shook his head. "I can't shake the feeling that Bardock's prophecy was referring to it." He then turned to KOS-MOS. "Get ready- we may need that Hilbert generator of yours before long. I doubt they'll leave us much chance to prepare."

KOS-MOS tilted her head. "I'm always ready for anything within my system parameters. I think you're being paranoid, though."

Kaerlos blinked. "And I thought you knew Gnosis and fighting fairly well. The best way to get an advantage in battle is to surprise your opponent. I think that's what the Gnosis are trying to do, if they're sentient. Remember, always expect anything from an opponent when you aren't sure of its sentience." He turned back to face the front of the ship. "I'm going to the bridge to keep watch. I don't want to get ambushed."

As Kaerlos walked toward the bridge, KOS-MOS thought, *How can you be sure Bardock's prediction was accurate? The chances of that prophecy actually happening are almost zero! So he may have been right several times in the past. That doesn't mean he has a perfect accuracy.*

Later, in hyperspace...

"Captain, something's wrong!" Hammer shouted, panicked.

"What is it?" Matthews asked, rather more calmly since he always ignored him.

"Something's pulling us out of hyperspace!" Hammer exclaimed.

"Gnosis..." Kaerlos murmured before turning to KOS-MOS. "Get ready," he said in a louder voice.

"It's Gnosis!" Hammer yelled desperately.

KOS-MOS gasped slightly despite not needing to breathe. So far, Bardock was right. No wonder the other Saiyans trusted his predictions so much. Then her eyes narrowed. If that was true, the absorption could happen too. She prepared to use a Hilbert wave on a moment's notice.

Then the walls of the warp tunnel collapsed, leaving them in a veritable sea of Gnosis. Kaerlos blinked. "I wasn't expecting this many," he commented.

"KOS-MOS! Ultra-wide range..." Shion started, but trailed off since KOS-MOS was already using the Hilbert effect.

An electric-looking sphere spread out from KOS-MOS for several million miles, striking all the Gnosis and solidifying them almost instantly, incidentally making them lose their translucence and the shimmer in their area. "Wow," MOMO said in awe, "even an amplified Hilbert wave only goes a few miles."

Unexpectedly for most, the ship started moving toward the largest of the whale-like Gnosis. "It's pulling us in!" Hammer called out, though his shout was redundant. When the ship reached the Gnosis, there was a bright flash of light, and all of the humans present, in addition to MOMO and Ziggy, fell unconscious.

*~~~~~~All fighters~~~~~~*

Shion slowly returned to consciousness about half an hour after the light had swallowed them. Her eyes opened after several false starts to find that she was in a "room" that looked like it came straight out of something's body. "Where am I...?" she asked, not realizing she said it aloud.

"Inside a Gnosis," Bardock answered, surprising Shion- she hadn't been expecting an answer, especially since she didn't mean to say it. He was fairly nervous around her nowadays, and had diagnosed his condition as a mild case of love.

"Yeah, yeah, let's go," Kaerlos said. He had chatted with the other Saiyans, KOS-MOS, and Virgil while waiting for the others to wake up, and had gotten very impatient.

"Where's the ship, anyway?" Virgil demanded.

"It's about ten miles from us right now," KOS-MOS answered.

"You shoulda known that, numbskull," Kaerlos said, not subtly at all, both in the statement and in his feelings toward Virgil.

"Hey! I resent that!" Virgil complained.

"That was the idea, moron," Kaerlos replied.

"This is no time to be fighting each other! We have to find our ship!" Goku pointed out.

Kaerlos and Virgil both snorted and glared at Goku. "We know that!" they shouted simultaneously.

Kaerlos looked at the still-unconscious MOMO, Ziggy, and chaos. "I can't wait anymore. We'll just have to carry them." He picked MOMO and Ziggy up, tossed them to Goku, and lifted chaos onto his shoulder. "It's time to go now."

Everyone nodded, and they set out on the only way out of their current location, with Vegeta, KOS-MOS, Bardock, Virgil, and, occasionally, Shion slaughtering the Gnosis inside the giant space whale. After a short time they came to a sign. "Doesn't it look like that sign's a part of the wall?" Shion asked.

"Who cares?" Kaerlos, Bardock, Vegeta, and Virgil said nearly at the same time.

"Yes, it does, doesn't it?" KOS-MOS mused.

"Huh? What si- oh. Yeah, kinda," Goku said. He would scratch his head, but he'd have to put someone down first and he didn't want to risk that. He settled for tilting his head and shrugging. "Almost as though this thing absorbed a whole city..."

Shion and KOS-MOS looked at him strangely when he said that. Then they looked at each other. "I never thought of that possibility," Shion commented.

"Makes sense, though," KOS-MOS said. "If it does make everything it absorbs into more of itself, then we have to get out of here NOW. As it is, we have to get out soon. You, chaos, and Virgil aren't capable of surviving in space."

"Actually," Kaerlos said, "Virgil has a personal life support system, including heaters."

For once, Virgil said something sensible: "Can we walk as we talk? We don't want to be in here when the Hilbert effect wears off."

Everyone looked at him in surprise. Then Kaerlos shrugged and grudgingly said, "Thanks for getting our minds back to the situation at hand. Besides, from what I've heard we'll be able to come back in a simulation or something, so we can think on this harder at a later date." Then he made a follow-me gesture towards the others and continued down the path they had been walking on. They hesitated before following.

A while later, after passing an elevator they used as a bridge, they found themselves below a bridge. Goku and Kaerlos were about to walk past some stairs when their burdens started stirring. Their unanimous first question was, "Where am I?"

When all three were squirming in their carriers' arms, Goku and Kaerlos put them down, though Kaerlos simply dropped chaos. He turned and glared at Kaerlos for that. Then, when chaos had stopped glaring and all three until-recently unconscious people were looking around, Goku said, "We're inside a Gnosis. We'll have to get out soon, so explanations are gonna have to be on the run. C'mon."

At that everyone started walking down the path Kaerlos and Goku had chosen earlier. After some time had passed, they reached the front of a building. Everyone except KOS-MOS, Virgil, and Kaerlos looked around to see where the ship was.

"The ship's about 75 feet below us," Virgil announced.

Kaerlos nodded. "Too close to blast a way there, then. We'll just have to find another way," he said. Then he looked at the building they were standing in front of. "Maybe through there..." he finished quietly.

After entering, they found a large number of boxes which were shortly demolished, along with some Gnosis that were hiding in them. Goku, in particular, seemed to enjoy applying excessive force to destroy them, despite his long-standing refusal to kill opponents unless absolutely necessary.

Kaerlos held Vegeta and Bardock back until the others had gone upstairs. When they were out of earshot he asked, "Is it me, or is Kakarot getting a little kill-crazy lately?"

Vegeta and Bardock looked at each other in surprise. Vegeta answered for them: "We never really noticed, but now that I think of it, he's started acting more like a true Saiyan."

Bardock added his opinion: "At this rate he'll probably be asking to be called Kakarot. Anyway, we'd better go catch up with the g- er, others." The others present nodded, though Kaerlos started eying him strangely due to the near-slip, and the trio ran up the stairs to find that the others had already cleared the room and were about to leave.

"We miss somethin'?" Kaerlos asked by way of greeting. The others glared at them except Goku, who just looked amused, though whether it was from the fight he just had or from the other fighters' reaction was impossible to tell.

"What took you?" Virgil demanded. "We cleared the room without your help, but if you came along it woulda gone faster!"

Kaerlos glared, though not at anyone in particular. "That's none of your business! Anyway, we'd better move on before the Hilbert effect expires." The group continued on, still glaring at Kaerlos, who was glaring at anything in range. Eventually, after exiting the building and passing through a former shopping mall, they came to a giant yellow object. It had two projections from the sides near the top, and it had some kind of symbol on it. "Wazzat?" Kaerlos demanded.

"It's a Zohar Emulator," KOS-MOS said. "More specifically, it's the one that was carried on the Woglinde."

"What...? Emulator...?" Shion asked weakly.

Kaerlos nodded. "So this thing's a replica- a copy of something called a Zohar. What's that one called, an Original or something?"

"Yes, it is," KOS-MOS confirmed.

Suddenly, everyone's attention was drawn by dragging footsteps from a different direction from where they just entered. A short time later, Cherenkov dragged himself around the corner. "Commander!" Shion and Virgil exclaimed in surprise. Had he injured himself? They soon found out his part in things.

In the ensuing conversation, Kaerlos paid no attention until he heard that Cherenkov had arranged to have a planet destroyed. At this point he intervened in the conversation. "Arranging a single planet's destruction is nothing. I've met several people who destroyed enough planets personally to fill an entire galaxy. I'll admit that I destroyed a planet or two myself." The looks he got from that announcement were priceless, though he was surprised but pleased when KOS-MOS didn't seem to mind.

After his announcement, Kaerlos went back to ignoring the conversation. Eventually, though, he saw Cherenkov start swatting at the air as though something was attacking him. He started half-listening to his rant, but the only line that he really understood was "You rejected me!" He wondered what the rant was about until he guessed that he was having a hallucination involving the people of the destroyed planet. Then Cherenkov started turning translucent.

*Either he's phasing, or he's turning into a Gnosis...* Kaerlos thought. Shortly, his guess was confirmed as Cherenkov rose into the air as if something was holding him by the elbows. After a blinding flash, a giant Gnosis stood just below where Cherenkov had been. "Hey guys, let's make this quick. Attack from its right!"

After everyone got on its right side, Kaerlos pressed the palm of his right hand to the back of his left while holding both to one side. Vegeta mirrored his movements with opposite hands. "Gallick Gun..."

Goku, Bardock, and Shion, meanwhile, had crossed their hands over their heads. "Masenko..."

KOS-MOS and Virgil just held their hands out and gathered their energy in them.

"FIRE!!!" Kaerlos and Vegeta shouted as each held both his hands between himself and the Gnosis and firing a large beam of ki from between them.

"HAAAAAAA!!!" Goku, Bardock, and Shion yelled as they moved their still-crossed hands forward and fired more ki beams from their front palms.

KOS-MOS and Virgil fired the energy they had collected at the same time the others fired their attacks.

The Gnosis was turning when the attacks hit it. It never stood a chance. As soon as the attacks hit it vaporized. The combined beam continued on for several miles before dissipating. Then the "room" started turning translucent and the occupants started floating.

"Oh, great. The Hilbert effect's fading!" Kaerlos said. Suddenly, he sensed someone moving. Several someones, to be more accurate. He ignored everyone else's conversation as he turned to stare off behind him. "Someone's coming..." he whispered.

Shortly, his prediction proved to be true as the Elsa flew through the wall and opened its catapult door.

Shortly after everyone had entered and the Elsa had exited the Gnosis, they found themselves chased by almost all the Gnosis in the area. Then, a large red battlecruiser started firing at the Gnosis, apparently trying to clear them out. It were succeeding, too, except for a group of a few hundred following the Elsa. "Excuse me, I gotta clear out the ones following us," Kaerlos said before phasing out of the ship. He flew back and landed on its tail, then held his arms straight out to his sides before bringing the wrists together. Electricity crackled silently around him, centered in his cupped hands. Eventually, when he thought he had enough ki gathered, he shouted out, loudly enough to be heard as a whisper even from space, "Here we go! Final Flash!" An enormous beam of ki shot out from his hands and consumed all the Gnosis chasing the ship.

*~~~~~~~~~~~~*

A boy called Jr. was commanding the Durandal, which was looking for the Elsa, when he found it in the middle of a Gnosis swarm. "All right, let's help them out!" he called to his crew, mostly Realians. They then started firing on the Gnosis using all their weapons.

"Look, Little Master," Shelley called out, "the Elsa's being chased right now!"

"There are too many for us to destroy before they catch it," Mary stated in her usual stoic manner.

"Too bad... Wait a minute, what the...?!" Jr. said as he saw a man standing on the tail of the Elsa with his hands cupped in front of him. "Is he an android, a cyborg, or a Realian?"

"Listen, he's saying something! Imagine the volume you'd need to be heard in space..." one of the Realians called out. "Increasing volume to audible levels."

"Final Flash..." was what the crew heard after the volume was increased. Suddenly an immense beam of light shot out and disintegrated all the Gnosis following the Elsa, incidentally making the ship move faster.

"Wow, no kidding Final Flash! That much power would be pretty much impossible to survive a direct hit from," Jr. exclaimed in awe. Then he thought of something. "But how did he survive the backlash...?"

"Apparently, he's built a lot tougher than he looks, which is saying a lot considering how tough he looks," a Realian commented.

*~~~~~~~~~~~~*

After the Elsa had docked with the larger ship, Kaerlos jumped off its tail onto the dock's edge. He glared at everyone who looked at him strangely, in other words everyone, and waited until the others had come out before going anywhere. As they walked, Kaerlos told Goku, "I think you should train MOMO, Ziggy, and chaos, Kakarot. The way it is, they'll just be a burden."

"Yeah, I think you're right, Kaerlos," Goku replied. "I'll ask them to let me train them as soon as we meet the commander of the ship."

"Good." A short time later they were in the bridge, and a boy greeted them. Kaerlos blinked. "Hey, kid, how old are you? There's something off in your ki."

"All I'm telling is that I'm a lot older than I look. How old are YOU?" the boy retorted.

Kaerlos answered more agreeably. "I'm about 96. And in case you're wondering because of my display out there, I'm 100% natural. No additives or artificial creation. Also, four of the others are basically the same, though one can't live in space."

Goku, meanwhile, was asking MOMO, Ziggy, and chaos if they wanted to be trained. After some initial misgivings, they all agreed. Goku then turned to the boy. "What about you? Care for some strength, speed, and stamina training?"

The boy considered for a second before nodding. "Sure, why not?"

Kaerlos then caught his attention by asking, "Can't have a student without knowing his name. So what's your name?"

The boy nodded. "You're right. My name is Gaignun Kukai, Jr. How about you guys? And I already know chaos, by the way."

Kaerlos pointed each person out as he introduced him. "She's KOS-MOS, the walking attitude is Vegeta, Bardock's over there, the woman who seems to NOT REALIZE SHE'S HANGING ON BARDOCK is Shion..." at this point Shion blinked, looked at Bardock, found she was indeed latched onto him, blushed, and let go; Bardock had already noticed and was already blushing. "...that asshole's Virgil..."

"Hey!" Virgil complained.

Kaerlos continued, ignoring Virgil's protest. "...that's some cyborg who calls himself Ziggy- ewww, bad name- the little girl's MOMO, your teacher's name is Kakarot, though as far as I know he prefers Goku, and I'm Kaerlos."

After that, they chatted on miscellaneous subjects. Eventually, they were shown to the residential area with a promise from Goku and his students to show up in the hangar for training.

-----------------------------------------------

TGSS5: Okay, all this scratching is driving me crazy, but I don't want to waste it, so... *snaps fingers and all the others stop scratching*

Kaerlos: All right, what did you do with it?

TGSS5: Let's just say I gave Frieza, Cell, Dr. Gero, and the Ginyu Force a nasty present. *smirks*

Kaerlos: All right... Hey Bardock, it looks like you taught Shion your attack, too.

Goku: I never knew I knew that attack.

Bardock: Shion's the best student I've ever had.

TGSS5: Where were you at the beginning of last chapter, anyway?

Bardock: Adult-type stuff. *blushes*

TGSS5: Oh. THAT.

Shion: *has an overly pleased look on her face as she drags Bardock out of the room, skidding all the way*

Bardock: AGAIN? Can't you ever... *is now out of earshot*

TGSS5: Well, it seems they want privacy... Let's peek in on Cell and his buddies and prank 'em some more! My "package" should be arriving now...

In Hell...

Cell: I'm bored... I wish something would happen. *cloud of itching powder suddenly appears in the prison cave* AAAH! That's not what I had in mind!

Frieza: *scratching itches on his tail* You and your big mouth... *suddenly has a look of disgust on his face*

Recoome: What's wrong, Master Frieza?

Frieza: *starts spitting soap bubbles everywhere*

Burter: !skcus sihT

Guldo: Help! I'm cross-eyed with all my eyes!

Jeice: And now for the evening news...

Recoome: *suddenly sounding intelligent* Hmm... If I had just done this during the fight against that Saiyan, I would've won.

Cell: What next... WHOA! *falls onto the ceiling* Okay, who reversed gravity?

Gero: *slips on some soap bubbles and starts bouncing randomly around the room, getting faster and faster* WHOOOOOAAAAA!

Back to the editor's box...

Everyone: *is watching Frieza and company's cell in Hell on a TV that mysteriously appeared*

Goku: Liquid soap in Frieza's mouth? HAHAHAHAHAHA! *falls over laughing*

Kaerlos: Dr. Gero... the human ping pong ball. Sorta. Interesting idea.

Vegeta: *laughing* I hate news unless it's like this- then it's HILARIOUS! Nice idea, linking Jeice's mind to a news channel!

Bardock: Let's see how well four-eyes sees when he's cross-eyed.

TGSS5: Anyway, see ya next chapter! I dunno what it'll be called yet, but SO WHAT?! See ya then! Review please!
