Fan Fiction / Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ To Trust Again (rewritten) ❯ Decisions ( Chapter 3 )
Author’s Note: Wow…so…long time eh? Sorry about that. Kinda been busy with everything. I’m going to tell all of you now that I probably won’t be updating so much. I love it that all of you are still reading this and have been patient with me. However, I have recently applied to go to Germany for school so I honestly don’t know how much time I’ll have to write the rest of this. You can be assured that I WILL finish this…I just don’t know when.
Again, sorry for the long wait. I hope this makes up for it.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Harry Potter or Sailor Moon

De cisions
The morning sunlight filtered through the open window and onto the bed where the small blonde slept. Yawning some, Usagi slowly opened her eyes before shutting them again to block out the bright light. She smiled as she snuggled into the red and gold silken sheets and hugged her pillow closer to her.
She attempted to open her eyes again and succeeded in keeping them open this time as she sat up and stretched. Looking around she found that the fire had died down in the small fireplace but the room was warm enough without it. She reached up and ran her fingers through her hair and frowned. She definitely needed a shower.
Sighing, she got up and made her way to the bathroom on the opposite side of the room. Inside she found clothes laid out for her on the large sink and smiled. It was probably the Headmaster’s doing. She thanked him silently and shed her clothes then turned to the shower and turned on the water until it was at a decent temperature and climbed in.
The water felt good on her skin and she sighed again. Looking around she spotted a bar of soap and grabbed it and began the task of cleaning her body of all the dirt that had stuck to her from the forest. Another frown made its way onto Usagi’s face as she remembered exactly why she was here. Mamoru.
Suddenly it felt as if her whole body hurt and she looked down to see all the bruises and cuts that she hadn’t been able to heal yesterday and tears came unbidden to her eyes. She shook her head and tried to push them back. She wouldn’t cry about it. She had to be strong and not let it get to her.
She wiped at her eyes not knowing if the tears had spilled over or not and breathed a shaky sigh. She finished washing the rest of her body and then quickly washed her hair before jumping out of the shower and dressing in the clothes left for her, also slipping her broach around her neck.
Her hand went to her stomach as it growled loudly and a slight blush came to her cheeks even though no one besides her was around to hear it. With a quick glance out the window she made her way out the door. It seemed like it was going to be a nice day.
Now where had Harry said he was going to be? Well…he really hadn’t said he was going to be anywhere. He had just asked if he would see her today. Wait, Dumbledore had said that her room was right down the hall from the Gryffindor common room, whatever that was. Maybe it was where Harry was. A noise up the corridor made her head snap up. A portrait was opening and kids were coming out of it.
She stopped walking and watched as they all started down the stairs, none looking at her except a red headed girl who saw her standing there and started towards her. Usagi’s blue eyes widened slightly and she took a step back ready to run. Apparently the girl saw the distress on Usagi’s face because she stopped walking and just stared at her for a few seconds before opening her mouth to speak. “Hi, my names Ginny, Ginny Weasley. Who’re you?”
Usagi looked uncertain as she studied the small girl before her. Her hair was the reddest she’d ever seen and she had matching freckles on her cheeks and nose. She was wearing robes much like Harry had been the day before and she had on the same patch that he had too. Looking back into the girls soft blue eyes she made up her mind and straightened. “My name is Usagi. I’m looking for a boy named Harry Potter.”
Ginny’s eyes narrowed some and she looked at Usagi with slight suspicion. “Why are you looking for Harry?” she asked.
“I met him yesterday and we were supposed to meet somewhere today but we didn’t exactly plan on where.”
She could see the wheels turn in the red haired girls head before she nodded her head. “Alright, stay there and I’ll go get him.”
It only took a few seconds before she emerged from the portrait again but this time she was followed by Harry and two people she didn’t know. Judging by the hair on the one boy she figured that he was probably related to the girl she had just talked to. The other girl though didn’t seem to be related to either of them with her bushy brown hair and brown eyes.
She turned her attention away from them and focused on Harry and gave him a small smile which he returned. “Hey Harry,” she said softly.
“Hey,” he replied just as quietly. “Did you sleep well?”
“Oh, yes. It was very nice. The Headmaster even gave me some clothes to wear,” she said indicating the Hogwarts school uniform under her black robes. Harry’s eyes narrowed slightly but he didn’t remove the smile from his face. It seemed as if the Headmaster was already planning to have Usagi stay. Oh how sure of himself he is.
“That’s great Usagi. Do you want to go eat breakfast with us?” he asked. An ahem was heard from behind him and he turned to look at Hermione who was giving him a ‘who is she?’ look and he gave her a sheepish grin. He’d totally forgotten about her and Ron. “Um, sorry, these are my friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Guys, this is Usagi.”
Usagi looked at the two of them and smiled uncertainly. Well she was right. Ron and Ginny were related. “It’s nice to meet you Ron, Hermione.”
“Likewise,” spoke Hermione as she started towards her. Usagi tensed and backed up. Seeing this Harry ran in front of Hermione and smiled at her.
“Why don’t you and Ron go on down to breakfast? Me and Usagi will catch up later, ok?” he said quickly. Hermione and Ron only gave him confused looks before nodding and turning to walk down the stairs, Harry staring after them.
After a few seconds he turned back to look at Usagi and smiled. “Come on.”
She tilted her head to the side and gave him a confused look. “Where?” she asked.
“To eat of course,” he said as he started down the stairs that Hermione and Ron had disappeared down only a minute ago. Usagi sighed before taking off after him. He was being so nice to her. It was hard keeping her guard up around him all the time especially since he was the only person she knew.
She suddenly felt guilty as she saw that they were heading towards the kitchens again and that he wouldn’t be eating with his friends. “Harry, you don’t have to…”
“I want to. I didn’t feel like eating in the Great Hall anyway. Ron and Hermione are my best friends but sometimes they just ask too many questions that I don’t feel like answering,” he said. Usagi nodded her head and gave him a small smile. Even though she still felt guilty she was kind of relieved as well. She wasn’t ready to be around a lot of people yet and she was happy that Harry could see that.
Her stomach let out another rumble and she blushed a brilliant red as Harry let out a small laugh and tickled the pair. As soon as they entered, Dobby was all over them and ushering them into a little back room filled with an assortment of breakfast foods. They sat down and started eating while making some small talk. Harry told Usagi all about Hogwarts and the classes he’d taken and was taking this year and Usagi told him about her home and friends. They both left out a lot of important details like Voldemort and the Sailor Senshi.
A comfortable silence fell over them and Usagi’s thoughts traveled back to the Senshi. She had to contact them today. Haruka was probably already strangling Setsuna to get the information out of her about where she was. ‘They’ll probably be so disappointed in me,’ she thought sadly. A feeling she couldn’t quite place welled up in her chest and she had to choke back a sob.
The thought of not being able to stop Mamoru really hit hard. She was Sailor Moon. She defeated the most horrible creatures in the universe but she was hardly able to get away from Mamoru. Sure she got away with her virginity intact, but what about the mental and even some physical scars she now had?
A solitary tear ran down her cheek and she wiped it away before standing up abruptly and startling Harry. “I have to go,” she said as she quickly ran out of the kitchens. Harry only sat there for a second before his senses came back to him and he rushed out after her.
_______________
Usagi had no idea where she was going as she barreled down the hallway, passing surprised students who jumped out of her way as she got close to them. She didn’t see their wide eyes or hear Harry calling after her. The only thought crossing her mind was that she had to get away. Away from all of her problems and away from all of these people. They didn’t know her, and therefore, they didn’t know that they could be in danger. Mamoru was after all very gifted with knowing where she was at all times. He had proven that numerous times over when they had first met as Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. It felt strange now that she felt so afraid of that ability when it was something she used to count on to save her.
As she rounded the corner she saw a door open ahead of her and a boy with blonde hair walk through it. His eyes widened as he saw her running full speed at him and managed to jump out of her way just in time as she sped past him and out onto the grounds. He scowled as he turned and muttered something about stupid mudbloods before being pushed roughly to the floor. A quick, “Out of the way Malfoy,” was all he heard as Saint Harry Bloody Potter ran past him and after the blonde he had saw moments before.
______________
‘Why is she running away?’ was the only thought that was traveling through Harry’s mind at the moment. He couldn’t remember saying anything that could have upset her but then, look at all the times he had made Cho Chang cry after Cedric had died. He shook his head to clear his thoughts and called out to Usagi who has almost run over Draco Malfoy and was now running out onto the grounds. He pushed Malfoy out of his way and bolted after the retreating blonde with only an ,“Out of the way Malfoy,” as he too ran out onto the grounds.
His chest was starting to hurt from lack of air but he pushed on and ran to where he had seen Usagi disappear into the tree line of the Forbidden Forest by the lake. As soon as he was inside the trees, he stopped running and listened. He could hear sobbing from up ahead of him and started to walk in that direction.
‘At least she didn’t go too far into the woods,’ he thought has he came upon Usagi’s weeping form. She was kneeling next to the lake holding her hands to her chest with her head bent down. Judging by the marks in the dirt, she had tripped and fallen to where she now sat. ‘Probably from a tree root.’
Usagi’s voice startled him and he was suddenly met with the most sorrow filled blue eyes he had ever seen. “Please, just go away Harry. I want to be alone.” Her voice was so soft that he had to strain to hear her.
He wasn’t really sure of what to say so he started with the one question that was on his mind. “Did I say something to upset you?”
She shook her head. “No, of course not. You’ve been a really good friend to me these past two days. I just…I can’t stay here.”
She wasn’t staying? Why? Then suddenly, like a light going off in his brain, it all came together.
It wasn’t until he took a step forward that she noticed him, but when she did, her eyes filled with horror. Surprise filled him as he cautiously took a step towards her again but she only took two away from him.
Fear found its way into her eyes when she found herself backed up against a tree. Slowly so as not to startle her more, he walked towards her with his hands in front of him in a surrender-like position. Upon hearing her whimper he stopped and watched as she sank to the ground and started to cry.
Why exactly had she been crying? Why had she been afraid of him…of his friends? And why on earth had she been in the forest? “Usagi,” he said quietly, “who are you running from?”
He saw her back stiffen and knew instantly that she was hiding something, or rather, was hiding from someone. It was obvious that something had happened to her when he had first seen her yesterday, but he had just shrugged it off thinking that she would tell him in her own time. That all changed though, the minute she said she was leaving. He felt like he needed to protect her which was probably due to the ‘hero complex’ that everyone said he had.
“Harry,” she began and then paused before taking a deep breath and continuing, “I’m sorry. I wish I could tell you everything but I can’t. I’m only putting you and everyone else in danger by being here. The person who’s looking for me…he WILL find me and when he does nothing will stop him from getting to me.” He was about to say something but she cut him off. “I know you think I’m safe here, but I’m not. It really is better this way, please understand that.”
But he didn’t understand and was about to tell her so when a beeping noise and then a voice speaking in some weird language interrupted him. “Usagi? Usagi are you there? Meatball head if you don’t answer me, I’m going to shave off all of your hair when I find you!”
He watched as a small smile replaced the frown on Usagi’s face and she brought her hands away from her chest to reveal a pink locket. He listened as another voice replaced the first one and said something else he couldn’t understand.
“Honestly Rei, you shouldn’t be so violent. No wonder why Usagi won’t answer you.”
“Well if she would just answer the damn thing I wouldn’t be threatening her!”
Usagi sighed and pushed a small button on the locket before speaking to it. “Ami-chan is right Rei, you shouldn’t be so mean to me.”
“Usagi-chan!” a bunch of voices yelled.
“Where are you?” one of them asked.
“You wouldn’t believe it if I told you,” she said before turning to Harry and giving him a small smile. “I might be able to stay after all.”
Harry just gave her a confused look before sighing and sitting down next to her. It was going to be a long day.

Well…that’s it. Took me forever to write but at least it’s out now.
I’m not going to promise that the next chapter will be out any time soon because I honestly have no idea when I’ll have enough time to write. I write this chapter on and off for a long time so I guess that’s how the next chapter will be.
ALSO
I am going away in September and I will not be back until July of 2007.
All I can ask is that you keep with the story and wait for the other chapters to come out. I might write some stuff while I’m way but it’ll still take just as long to get out as if I were here.
I’m sorry for this inconvenience but it happens as you get older and don’t have as much time to do anything as you once could.
