Fan Fiction / Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ To Trust Again (rewritten) ❯ Choices ( Chapter 2 )
Author’s Note: Ok, well I read over the last chapter and realized that my writing skills have went down considerably (in my opinion anyway). I didn’t even know I was capable of writing well before but I guess I was. I also found that I quite like this story and really want to continue writing it.
I want to apologize for now getting any chapters out quicker than this. School has been a major pain in my butt as of late not to mention band is affecting everything I do.
And if anyone was reading New Hope and a New Future, I put a new chapter up for that yesterday.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Harry Potter or Sailor Moon

Usagi’s eyes widened considerably as she took in the spacious room before her. Bookshelves lined most of the walls and some even reached the ceiling. Spaces not taken up by the large oak structures held portraits with people that were staring at her curiously and talking to each other in hushed voices.
Talking portraits…who’d of thought? Usagi shook her head and continued her assessment of the room. A large desk sat a few feet away from her with small little gadgets littering its surface along with papers, quills and ink jars. A fire was lit in the small fireplace off to the left with a few chairs set in front of it along with a small table also made of oak. To her right sat a small stair case that led up to more bookshelves and another door.
Her gaze moved to Harry as he walked over to a bird that was perched next to the stair case. Its feathers were a bright red that also held some orange and yellow and it made light cooing noises as Harry stroked it. “Hey Fawkes,” he said quietly to the large animal.
A small smile touched her lips as she watched the scene in front of her. It kind of reminded her of Rei and her pet crows, Phobos and Deimos. A movement from the top of the stairs made her gasp and take a few steps backwards.
When she looked up her eyes met with a blue that rivaled her own though these were behind half moon spectacles. Harry also looked up and a frown set on his face as he came to stand in front of Usagi. “Headmaster,” he said as he nodded at the old man quietly moving down the stairs and then moving to stand behind his desk.
“Harry,” he replied with a small smile. Usagi looked from one to the other with a confused expression on her pale face. It didn’t look like these two got along very well but she couldn’t understand why. This Headmaster guy looked nice enough. ‘Well look where that got you last time Usagi,’ she berated herself. She shook the thoughts away and sighed making Harry and the Headmaster look her way. Uncomfortable with them staring at her she took a step back again. Seeing her start to panic Harry slowly turned back to the old man behind the desk and started to speak. “This is Usagi Professor Dumbledore. I was outside when she came out of the Forbidden Forest by the lake and saw me. She doesn’t know how she got here but she does know where she came from.”
Dumbledore didn’t say anything as he studied the young blonde standing behind Harry. She was beginning to become uncomfortable again when he finally turned his attention away from her and back to Harry. “You missed the feast?” he asked suddenly.
Harry’s face took on a look of confusion much similar to Usagi’s at the unexpected question and he only nodded. What did him not going to the feast have anything to do with Usagi coming to Hogwarts out of no where?
Dumbledore must have realized their confusion and moved around his desk and towards the fire place. His sudden movement startled Usagi and she backed up against the door and put her hand on the handle. The Headmaster didn’t notice this though as he kept walking towards the fire place. Harry gave his back a hard glare as he slowly walked to where Usagi was. “It alright Usagi,” he said quietly with his hands up in the air, “no one is going to hurt you.”
She seemed to relax some but didn’t remove her hand from the door handle. Satisfied that she was at least calmed down Harry turned around to see what the Headmaster was doing. Just as he was about to ask Dumbledore turned to them and smiled warmly at them. “I’ve called the kitchens to prepare some food for you both. Harry, you know the way so why don’t you and Miss Usagi go down and grab a bite to eat.”
Harry nodded. He didn’t want to be in this office any longer than he had to be and was about to turn when he thought of something. “Where is she to go when we’re done?” he asked.
“You can both come back here when you’re finished and we will take it from there.”
Harry nodded again and turned to Usagi. “Come on, let’s go get something to eat,” he said and she nodded before turning and opening the door.
It wasn’t that long of a walk to the kitchens but Usagi found that most of the walls along the way were covered in in the portraits of the moving people. Granted they all weren’t the same but they did proved great fascination for her. Harry smiled at her awed face as she looked at each one.
They rounded a corner and he had to put out his arm so that Usagi wouldn’t run into him. She let out a surprised ‘eep’ before taking a few steps away from him. She was still jumpy around these people. ‘And rightfully so,’ she thought. She didn’t know these people and she wasn’t going to let herself get hurt again by trusting them too quickly. They’d have to earn it.
Her thoughts turned to Setsuna and she frowned. She was glad that the other girl had saved her. She would have thrown away so much had she just ended her life. What had she been thinking? She had been selfish, that’s what. She hadn’t really thought of the consequences of her actions. She hadn’t thought of anyone but herself.
What would her friends and family have done if Setsuna hadn’t saved her? Shingo’s face came to her mind and her eyes watered some but she held back her tears. She already missed him…them, all of them. ‘Well not all of them,’ she thought angrily as Mamorou passed through her mind. She sighed, ‘I can’t change the past but maybe I can make a new future.’
And that’s what she would do. She would make a new life for herself whether it be here or somewhere else. As long as she was happy. She turned her attention back to Harry and watched as he walked over to a portrait with a pair on it. Stepping closer she watched as he brought his hand up to the painting and tickled the green fruit and gasped as it swung open to reveal a doorway.
“Come on,” he said with a small smile which she returned and walked in after him. The room was quite large and held many tables and ovens. She was surprised to see small creatures running around with different things in their hands. Some were carrying spices while others were carrying dirty dishes to the sinks in the far corner.
She stepped back as one of them towards her and Harry and gave a small bow. “How good it is to see Harry Potter! Dobby is so happy!” the little creature cried out merrily. Harry smiled down at the little imp and then gestured to Usagi.
“This is Usagi Dobby. She’s a…guest here at Hogwarts for the time being,” he said. The little imp turned its big brown eyes toward her and let out a happy squeak.
“It’s so nice to meet Miss Usagi and have her here! Please, come come! We have made a great dinner for Mr. Harry Potter and his young friend.”
After they were sitting and the small creature had run off to do whatever it was he did, Usagi looked at Harry with a questioning stare at which he laughed. “He’s a house elf. They work here in the castle by preparing meals for the students and faculty and keeping the rooms and halls clean.”
Usagi frowned at this and spoke. “They work here? Are they slaves or something?” she asked.
“Oh no, they actually like to work. None of them want to be free because…well I don’t really know why. Dobby is the only one that is but he chose to stay here and work for the Headmaster…” His words trailed off as the Headmaster came into the conversation and she wondered what it was that they had against each other. Or rather, what Harry had against him.
She left it sit though and went about eating her food, Harry doing the same and silently thanking her for not pressing the matter.

It was about an hour later when they both made it back to the Headmaster’s office and waited for him to appear. Instead of standing in the door this time though, they both went and sat down in the chairs placed in front of the large oak desk. It only took a few moments for Dumbledore to come out from what Usagi presumed were his chambers and take a seat in his chair.
“So, Miss Usagi, how did you like the food?” he asked and her brows knitted in uncertainty. Why was he being so…nice and calm? And why wasn’t he asking her the questions she knew he wanted to.
“It was good,” she replied though still on her guard.
“Good, good.” He stared at her for a moment before looking at Harry and then back to her. “Well it seems like we have quite a predicament here,” he finally stated.
Usagi’s eyes narrowed even more as she spoke to him, “And what would that be sir?”
Dumbledore steeped his fingers together and smiled. “Well my dear, you obviously have some magic in you or you would not be here right now. It is up to you however if you want to stay or not. This is school for witches and wizards and you can either stay and attend or we can get someone to take you home.”
Forgetting about staying on her guard, Usagi let her eyes drift to the floor. What did she want? She did want to go home but she didn’t think she could face anyone right now, especially not Mamorou. And what would her family and friends say? She could just tell her mom and dad that she was safe and would be attending a boarding school in England but she would also have to tell them how she got there and that wouldn’t work.
She doubted they would be too keen on letting her stay here without them. They didn’t like her being anywhere they weren’t because they couldn’t keep an eye on her. She sighed and rubbed her temples. This was hard.
“Are you alright?” Harry’s voice made her look over at him and she gave a small smile and nodded that she was.
God why did Setsuna send her here? Wait, Setsuna! She always had a reason for her actions and that’s exactly where she was going to get her answers from. “Headmaster, may I have a day to make up my mind? By this time tomorrow I will definitely have an answer for you, I promise.”
He smiled and gave a small nod before standing up. It startled her a bit but she didn’t move, just kept her eyes on him. “That is fine. Until then, I’ll have Harry show you to your room,” he said turning to the dark haired boy. “It is the down the hall from the Gryffindor common room. The portrait of Godric Gryffindor.”
***
The room was quite large and held many things. A bed was off to the right by the window and was covered in red and gold silk sheets with red bed hangings. A dresser with a mirror attached to it was on the other side of the room as well as a closet. ‘Not like I’ll be needing it,’ she thought as she looked down at herself. She was still wearing the sweat pants and shirt that Motoki had dressed her in and sighed.
There was another door on the opposite wall from where she was standing that probably led to a bathroom and she smiled. At least she could clean herself up a bit. Harry turned to her and gave a small smile. “I hope you like your stay here, for however long it will be.”
She smiled back at him and nodded, “I’m sure I will. I want to thank you for being so nice to me Harry. You don’t find many people like that these days.”
His eyebrows knit together but he only nodded. He didn’t want to pry into her life and he wouldn’t. She had been nice enough to not pressure him earlier and he was going to do the same. If she really wanted to tell him anything, she would but he doubted she would any time soon. They didn’t really know each other yet but a part of him hoped that she accepted Dumbledore’s offer of staying.
Her naivety made him want to know more about her and how she came to be at Hogwarts. It seemed as if she didn’t know about the magical community but wasn’t surprised either. She also hadn’t been excepted into the school and he wondered why. There were so many questions about her that he wished he could answer but he didn’t want to push her. Hopefully she would agree to stay and he would get to know her and get her to trust him.
That was another thing that bothered him. He understood that she was wary around him and the Headmaster because she didn’t know them, but she was too jumpy and she startled too easily for it to just be because they were strangers to her. But this was another thing that would not be answered for a while.
Shaking his head and pushing the thoughts into the back of his mind, he gave her another smile and nodded. “It’s really no problem. But I have to disagree with there not being many nice people. Sure there are a lot of prats out there but a lot of the people here are great and I hope you’ll get to meet some of them.”
“I hope so too,” she said quietly and then looked away. His green eyes were extraordinary and she could almost lose herself in them…but she didn’t want to. She never wanted to get lost in anyone’s eyes anymore. At least not for a very long while. She sighed and looked towards the window. She would have to call the girls somehow tomorrow and tell them where she was. No doubt they were going to become worried when they wouldn’t be able to find her.
“Well, night then Usagi. I’ll see you tomorrow?” he asked and she nodded. He smiled as he turned and walked out of the room and down the hall to the Gryffindor common room. He seemed to be doing that a lot lately…smiling. He was glad, it felt good.

W ell, that’s all I have for you for now. I didn’t actually want to stop there because I’m in such a good writing mood but I thought it would be an appropriate spot to stop.
Next time Usagi is going to talk to Setsuna and the other girls and make her decision. As most of you can already tell, Usagi and Harry are going to be paired off but it’s going to take awhile for the lemon to actually come out.
Ron and Hermione will also be appearing in the next chapter and they’re also probably going to become a couple in later chapters.
That’s about all I have to say except please,
R & R!
Your feedback will encourage me to write more faster and I will considering I like this fic so much.
