shadee just crawled to one of the sofa's and laid down on it. the Dahaka stood up and this time he was clad in an armour suit like alphonse elric from the anime "fullmetal alchemist" it stood up and said in an english-hinted accent "excellent, i now have a proper metaphysical form" as he checked out his armour body. "everyone, you have now been given a second chance. the three of you can stay with us if you choose to, right belldandy?" belldandy, who just walked into the room said "yes, you're all welcome to stay" Asaan and the Dahaka accepted, while shadee refused and said "sorry, but i want to travel the world, see what it has to offer in this time" "alright, good luck then" they said as she walked out the front temple doorway. lightning flashed and a stumbling figure approached the front, clutching their stomach. as they came into the light, everyone gasped as they realised who it was........
"Mara??" everyone cried in suprise. Mara was limping to the front step when she collapsed onto the ground. everyone ran out to her and Urd tried to wake her but to no avail, so belldandy decided that they should get her inside. Josh and keiichi and Urd hesitated but they gave up and carried her in. Josh mindthought to her "try anything and i will kill you, you got that?" "yeah" she replied through the link. they carried her to a spare futon and belldandy said "you guys can go if you want, i will stay here and watch over Mara" "alright, let's go you guys" Josh said as he put his arm around Urd, leading her and the others outside. as they went out to the backyard, Josh turned to the others and asked "so what or who do you think it was that sent us back into your time?" Asaan, keiichi and Urd shook their heads, but the Dahaka said "i have heard stories, legends told of these machines who were called steel angels. apparently they were so powerful, heaven and what you would call hell lay in ruins at the end of the war. there was panic and kaos, but only one person had the power to stand against them, your predecessors" he said, facing Josh who just looked at him gravely. the Dahaka continued "one man had the powers of both heaven, hell and something else. six of them died, one from each generation, until the seventh, a man by the name of eli willas. he just barely managed to seal the steel angel away, at the cost of his own life. but if it is the steel angel, who legend has it, goes by the name of Mikhail, then unless you are powerful enough, you will die and the world will fall" "alright, i need to speak to Hild and kami-sama" "i can arrange that" said someone, drawing the attention of everyone. they turned to see Mara standing at the doorway "what do you mean?" "i will return to Niflheim and tell Hild that you want to see her" she said before another voice spoke up, saying "no need, i'm here anyway" they all turned to the courtyard to see Hild appear, she was dressed in fatigues and a tank top, showing off her cleavage. "let me guess, Mikhail kicked you out of niflheim?" "yeah, that bitch came and took my throne, she was way too powerful" "right, that leaves one more. belldandy, i need to get to heaven, and i'm taking Hild with me" "alright, but you're sure about this?" she asked him, he shook his head and said comically "nope, but it's the only thing i can do at the moment" he went over to Hild and held her to him, saying softly "trust me" before they disappeared into a shadow portal.
when someone sees heaven or something along those lines, they usually say something profound, not Josh. "holy fuck this place is massive!!!" were the first words out of his mouth as they stepped out onto a street. he looked around and saw various gods and goddesses going 'bout their daily buisness. Josh put his hands behind his back and walked through the crowds with an aura of pomposity surrounding him. as they passed through the crowds, they were hardly noticed until he dropped to the ground, clutching his chest in pain "Josh, what is it?" "i don't know" he said before he collapsed. Hild decided to pick him up and hide him, because at this moment a group of heavily armed gods and goddesses, the valkyries, were approaching. she grabbed him and ran down into an alleyway, hiding in the darkness. she heard footsteps approaching, then she saw someone "good, you're both here, lets go" she looked and saw that it was Peorth, she was waiving to them. so Hild flew over to her and Peorth said "what happened to him?" "i don't know, we were just walking down the street and he just collapsed" "let's get out of here first, then we'll figure out what happened" "where will we go?" "to my place, they wouldn't check there" "alright, help me carry him, he's a bit heavy" they went to him but an energy field made it hard to get to him, but that's before the field turned solid, turning into a Cocoon, like the facehugger eggs in the Alien movies. when the two women went to pick it up, it was lighter than before, which made it easier to carry. they took it from alleyway to alleyway, until they reached a lovely little cottage house with various coloured roses out in the front garden. Peorth opened the door cautiously and nodded to Hild, who now looked like a young goddess. they brought it in and left it in the middle of her den. "so what do we do? we can't go and see him with Josh like that" "i'm going to have a look inside and see what's going on" said Peorth as she went over to it. she opened a warp gateway and entered into a massive field, complete with about ten trees, she felt different, so she looked at herself and saw that she appeared to be her younger self. she looked up saw a young boy sitting under one of them. she went closer and saw that he was sleeping, so she decided to have a look around the area when she heard a soft young voice say "who're you lady? you're not supposed to be here?" she turned to see the boy, he was standing up and brushing himself off "who are you?" "my names Peorth, what's yours?" he stood back and said "uhh.... my names Josh, Joshua payne" "what's going on?" asked a new voice. they turned to see Urd, she was also in her younger form. she saw Peorth as well, so she walked over to Peorth and asked "do you know why i'm here?" "i don't actually, i just came in here to find out why Josh turned into a cocoon" "what do you mean?" "your mother said that as they were walking down one of the streets, he just collapsed, and when i got there, he made a cocoon around himself" "oh, i've heard of that. apparentley at certain point, people like him make a cocoon around themselves in which to completely awaken their powers" "that's right" an older looking Josh said, completely interrupting them "Urd is correct. i have two hours left. but if anyone interferes with it, i will die" both women had a shocked expression on their faces "i will be fine, i love the two of you, so go, GO!!" he said as a sharp wind blew the two women out of the box. "whoah, what is that?" Hild and Peorth both turned to see that Urd was now with them "that, believe it or not is Josh" "so how long did he say?" "it would now be ninety minutes left" they heard a bang and went to the window, to see the valkyries busting down the front doors of other houses "looks like they're looking for us" said Hild before Peorth turned to her and said "go to the basement, hopefully we can buy you some time. try and see if you can speed up his awakening" "alright" said Hild as she reverted back to her proper form. she went over to him and Peorth said "hurry, they're coming!!" Hild carried him over to the door and just barely made it in as the valkyries broke down the door and filed into Peorth's house, brandeshing high tech versions of the hoeckler and koch G-36 semi-automatic assault rifle, with grenade launcher undercarridge and laser sights.
down in the basement, Hild was silent as she was desperately trying to speed up his awakening, when she heard a voice from the other side of the door saying "let's check the basement, they might be down there" said a female voice "yeah" added another. "no, it's not time" Hild whispered to herself before the door burst open and the valkyries burst in, just as Hild barely managed to dssapear into darkness. she saw that rind was amongst the valkyries, she saw rind lower her weapon and said "what the niflheim is that soldier?" "i don't know mam, it looks like some kind of cocoon" "let's open it and find out what's inside" "you sure, rind? i mean, it could be anything" "let's find out then" rind said, taking a combat knife out from her sheath. Hild ran out from the shadows and said "no, don't do it, you'll kill him" "restrain her" said rind as she took the combat knife and stabbed it into the top half of the cocoon and dragged it down, spilling some amber green fluid. in her mind, Hild could hear Joshua's screams of agony and pain "help me" he said weakly. as she finished, a body fell out and landed onto the ground "what the hell is that?" asked rind as they scrambled back one foot. "now look what you've done rind, you've killed him" Hild said as tears began to form at the corners of her eyes. she went over to him and put his hands on his chest, crossing them over each other, when she noticed some kind of goo on her hands. she looked and saw that it was skin, his skin. she stifled a scream and they watched on as the skin melted away, revealing someone else underneath, they looked an awful lot like keanu reeves when he played john constantine. as the skin finished melting away and had left the body, the man that was left sat up and said "hello, and who might you people be?" "i'm Hild, a friend. are you Josh?" he looked to her and thought for a second "yes, i possibly could be. i don't remember anything, except for the fact that my name is Josh and that's all i can remember at this present time" was the reply as he tried to stand "what happened to you Josh?" Hild asked as she went over to help him up "change it seems, and not a moment to soon, i'm afraid" he said with an arm draped over her shoulder.....
