Tale of the Animal Spirits

`Chapter Six - Reunion`

The unknown creature seemed to have the upper hand. Small ivory fangs dug into her right shoulder as the being pinned her down. She growled trying to retaliate the bite, but not being able to get up far enough. "S-Stupid Wolf, give me your gem, you go free." The creature hissed between her fangs.

She snarled back, trying to make a grab for her dagger. "Never." And struck her hard in the side.

Shrieking she rolled off her opponent. "So be it." She spat, charging once more, but now that she was off of her, she wouldn't be surprised again. A hefty kick was her reward and sent her flying back again. 'Close range won't work now.' She thought angrily. Deep colored eyes scanning the area. Spotting a rock, she made a jump for it, but such did not go unnoticed to the wolven's eyes. Before she reached the shimmering stone she was tackled. A foot away from her target, she growled deeply setting back her once pointed auds.

"So close, yet so far." She mumbled, digging her own claws in the raccoon child's back. She whimpered underneath her now, "…You're giving up just because you have one real blow you cant counter? …You're a pathetic Spirit holder."

"…Your friends are coming, no matter in couldn't take on everyone. Especially from two sides." The girl admitted, glancing nervously from left to right.

WindWolf looked from side to side as well. Setting her nose in the air as she sniffed for any scents. Sifting out the smells of blood and fear the girl below her was indeed right, others were coming. But now, she smelled two she didn't quite recognize. "So, they are…" A faint trace of a smile creeped upon her blood stained lips.

The small kitten-child came now from the bushes. Looking over cautiously and setting next to the two. "…Windy…?" She said tentatively, ears flickering for any angered sounds.

She glanced over briefly; still keeping the other pinned, "Yes?" Flicking an ear to listen to her.

"…Let lady go, she learned lesson now." She said softly, looking down to her stuffed toy.

"…Alright." She grumbled, not liking the idea but she didn't want to upset the child any longer. "If you try anything at all, you will not live." She said and menacingly as she could muster.

She nodded agreement, ripping the dagger rudely from her own flesh, handing it as peace to the wolven. "I-I promise." Saying softly as she looked to her own wounds.

"Good." She said crossly, taking the dagger and now setting off the girl. She shook her head a few times to rid herself of blood. Her eyes coming back to normal as well. The adrenaline from the fight gone, the pain they dealt coming back to her form. She squeaked slightly, wincing as everything came back.

The other seemed un-harmed however. Of course you could see her wounds, but she didn't seem to mind them at all. Just sitting there as blood pooled from her side and back wounds. MistKitten set her gaze to the raccoon-child. "…Why did you go to Windy's bag?"

"…Foraging, instinct for my breed. I apologize." She nodded her head, eyes coming to focus now.

"WindWolf!" The faint calls were heard through out the forest now.

She perked her ears, and as she looked around, she finally saw where she was in a new light. The whole area was just a large circle. The tree limbs, and bushes were intertwined to make one large… Arena. It was a trap and the girl she was fighting was a fighter from the other side. It had to be, but before she could open her mouth to speak claws and weapons were slashing at the outer walls on either side. She dismissed the thought and ran best she could to the left side, "LoneHowl!"

The small cat-girl also perked up, running to the right, "Kitty!"

And so both barriers were broken, "WindWolf, what happened?" Was a frantic question of the wolf-child.

"…A fight, there was a Raccoon girl. She was going through my pack and then she started to attack she's…" She blinked slightly, about to point her own but no one was there. "…What?"

The small group came together now. The fox running over to WindWolf as well. "You should get your wounds treated." He pointed out; "…Perhaps we should stop at the cave and then had out."

"But that would put us behind schedule of what you said, right Sleek?" The dark feline said, crossing her arms.

"Kitty!" MistKitten said happily clinging to her sister's legs. But, as she looked up she wasn't even paying attention to her. She sighed softly, nuzzling her legs longingly. "…Kitty…"

"Some things just come up." He said back to her. Turning once more to examine the wolven's wounds.

"Let's go back then, then we'll be able to go out. If one in the party is wound their scent will drag and attract real animals to us." The hawk-child said softly.

"…That is true, so let us go." The redhead said finally.

LoneHowl nodded, lifting up the wolven, "I can walk, Howl." She mumbled slightly, holding onto him.

"Yes, but the more you move around the more blood you'll spill. This was you wont lose anymore." He mumbled to her, "You'll be fine soon enough now."

"Thank you." She said softly, the two of them taking lead as they headed out of the forest and back to the den. The fox and hawk came next in the line.

Both felines were behind, "…Come on, Kat. Misty." He said to them, but it seemed they weren't coming.

Well, the kitten-child tried moving ahead, a paw coming to garb her shoulder and bring her back. "I will go alone with her then." She said coldly, glaring to them.

"…What?" FlameHawk said in disbelief.

"…You think the detour to save a friend in pointless…? And then you'll go alone, a group of two? What if you're attacked, both of you will be harmed and I doubt Misty will survive it. Stop being so selfish!" He growled. He glanced behind to the hawk-child, "Go ahead, I'll catch up then."

"If you want." He said gently, and followed his instructions. Glancing only once behind before he ran ahead to catch up with LoneHowl and WindWolf.

"You have no say in what I do. Or in what MistKitten does." She glared to him. MistKitten looked over to the fox-child, then back to her sister whom still had a grasp on her shoulder dress strap.

"I just don't want to see anyone else die. Especially so young…You need to be safe, in a group is best. You saw what happened to WindWolf, and if she were gone Misty wouldn't have been gone too. Traveling in pairs isn't the best idea…" He explained, looking to the moon splashed ground.

"I can protect my sister on my own, Sleek. Stand down." She growled to him, kneeling by her sister.

"It's not a matter of protecting! No matter how well you think you can…Things come up, I don't expect you to understand, or you to care… But, just stay with us, please?" He said softly to her.

She flicked her ears, "…Humph, I do as I please."

"It's best for the child." He grumbled.

"Stop thinking you know what's best for her! She is my sister, not yours! I can't help it you lost your sister because you couldn't save her." She blinked to her own words, a real emotion actually coming to her face: guilt. "Sleek…I…"

"Your right." He smiled sadly; looking up with tear glazed eyes. "I couldn't save my own sister, I'm an orphan and my 'family' is falling apart before me. Go on, ShadowKat, maybe I don't know what's best for her… Who knows, maybe I would be the one that would end up killing her. Reliving my past…"

MistKitten looked to the fox-child once again, a hand reaching out to him. "…Sleek?"

He was looking down blankly again, ears not even twitching to her voice. "Sleek I didn't mean…" She started but was cut off.

"Go ShadowKat, I don't know what's best anymore. Take good care of her though." He said softly, vanishing from sight.

"Sleek!" MistKitten yelled to nothing. She blinked slightly as her sister stood up. "Sissy?"

"Come on, Mist." She said gently, pulling her up and walking to where the group before had left.

"Back to the cave?" She asked and she nodded. Smiling MistKitten looked through the darkness for any signs of friends now.
