Fan Fiction / Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Wands and Demons Don't Mix ❯ It Begins ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
It was a slightly cold night, but the stars were out. Cold enough to have a few cool breezes, just enough tom make the red-haired boy sitting at his desk shiver slightly. It had gotten pretty hot in his room. "I didn't leave that window open," He murmured, smiling slightly. It must be Hiei. But it wasn't raining, so why was he here? Could they have a new case...?
Judgeing from Hiei's angry expression, Kurama noted, it appeared so. He chuckled a bit, and waited for the little fire apparition to tell him the new case, malachite eyes sparkleing with some amusement.
Hiei glared down at the red haired fox, seetheing. He was even more irked, as he heard the kitsune chuckeling.
"What," Hiei thrusted a strange letter into the surprised, but amused, kitsune's* hands. "Is this about?"
Kurama looked down at the letter, with bright emerald green ink, that could rival his malachite eyes, and blinked. "Sou ka*.. " he murmured, reading it. It was written in rather messy kanji, and as Kurama looked closer at the name of the person who sent it, he realized that it was an American name.
HOGWARTS SCHOOL

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore

Dear Mr. Jaganshi,

Minerva McGonagall,
Deputy Headmistress
Kurama raised an eyebrow at the letter, then looked back at the infuriated Hiei, and smiled lightly. "It appears we are accepted into a magic school," he said calmly, restraining a few chuckles. He was very curious about this place, and was already waiting for Botan to come in randomly and announce their new mission. How did he know she would? Because, she always did.
Hiei growled--He knew the fox was deliberately trying to anger him, but he could not help but feel annoyed. 'A fox, takes nothing seriously,'' he thought, scowling. "Tell me what is going on, fox. Before I lose my patience," he threatened.
Kurama smiled softly, in his normal manner. "For that, we need to wait for---," he stopped, looking towards the window.
"Kurama-kun* ! Hiei-kun !" An annoyingly cheerful voice rung out. It was Botan! She smiled cheerfully, her familiar pink kimono and bright blue hair blowing in the light breeze.
Hiei narrowed his eyes, crossed his arms, and mumbled a light, 'hn' under his breathe. The ferrygirl had always annoyed him with her cheerful manner.
Kurama chuckled, and opened the window, greeting Botan with that soft smile that made most women swoon, or even faint. "Hello, Botan-chan*," he greeted.
"Hello Kurama-kun!" She chirped. "Koenma has a new mission! I need to go get Yusuke, so can you two get to Spirit world on your own?" inquired Botan.
Kurama nodded. "That sounds great,"
"Bye, Kurama-kun! Bye, Hiei-kun!" Botan gave a little wave, then flew off into the darkness, no doubt to wake up Yusuke. If she could, that is.
"Hn, baka* ferry onna*," Hiei mumbled, obviously in a bad mood. All of his senses were practically screaming: 'This mission will be a waste of time!'
And so, the amused fox, and the angry fire demon, walked off into the darkness.

"STAMP! STAMP!" Were the only sounds in Koenma's office. Yusuke-tachi* were not there as of yet, so all remained peaceful.
"STAMP!" Koenma's stamp slammed against another form, accepting a human's request to be brought back to life. "More and more forms!" Koenma mumbled, with a frustrated look at the last ten or so forms he had to stamp. It was a boring, and tiring job, being Prince of the Underworld.
Especially if your father was on vacation. . .
A few minutes later, Koenma finished his last form, and smiled. "Finished," He said, putting down his stamp. But then, the peace of the office was broken.
"KOENMA!" Yusuke yelled, kicking open the door, and making his prescence known. He walked into the office, holding the very same Hogwarts letter that Kurama and Hiei had also gotten.
Kurama and Hiei trailed after him; Hiei scowling, and Kurama looking like he wanted to chuckle, but did not want more probation. Or to be killed by Hiei. Or both.
Yusuke slammed his hand, holding the letter, against Koenma's desk, almost knocking over all of his finished paperwork. "What the hell is this!? Magic school!? I ALREADY GOT ENOUGH SCHOOL!"
"Yusuke!" Koenma exclaimed, steadying the piles of paperwork that almost reached the ceiling. "I just got all of these done!"
Yusuke scowled, almost rivaling Hiei's. "Just tell us what is going on," he said, sounding exasperated.
"Yes, I am also quite curious as to what is going on here. . . Is this a new case?" Kurama inquired.
"Hn..." Hiei mumbled, leaning against the wall, in the shadows, uncaring.
"This is about," Koenma glanced at the little letter, "Hogwarts, and a boy named Harry Potter. He is your new case." He explained.
"Who cares about the kid," Yusuke began, cracking his knuckles with the next statement. "Just tell me whos ass I gotta kick,"
Koenma and Kurama sweatdropped, and Hiei smirked. "The detective is right. I do not care about some..'magic' school,"
Koenma looked annoyed, but he only managed to look like a toddler who didn't get his way about something. In otherwords, he seemed to be pouting. "Thats not the attitude to have about it!" he exclaimed. "This case is vital!"
"Vital my ass!" Yusuke said, cracking his knuckles. "I have enough school here! I don't want to go to a magic school! Besides, Keiko would kill me if I missed more school!" Yusuke complained, already imagining what Keiko would do to him. . .
-Yusuke's Thoughts-
Yusuke: Keiko, I'm on another case...Its a magic school!
Keiko: O_O WHAT!? YUSUKE YOU CAN'T MISS MORE SCHOOL! *rants on and on*
Yusuke: -.-;
Keiko: YUSUKE, ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?!
Yusuke: Yeah, yeah. *lights up a cig*
Keiko: YUSUKE! YOU TOLD ME YOU QUIT SMOKING! *beats Yusuke up*
Yusuke: @_@ itai*...
-End Yusuke's thoughts-
"I'm sure we can talk to her about it, Yusuke," Kurama said gently.
"Thats not the problem! Voldemort is our problem right now!!" Koenma exclaimed, sounding exasperated. His childish features almost wore a scowl. The Tentai wondered how he could scowl with that obstruction of a binkie in the way.
"Voldemort?" Hiei surprisingly questioned. Where had he heard that from?
"Yes, Voldemort!"
"Is that not the dark wizard that escaped 14 years ago?" Kurama inquired.
"Voldemort, Swmaldamort," Yusuke muttered, unconcerned. It never was like him to be interested in who he was fighting; he was just was in it to kick their ass and be done with it.
"Yes, Kurama, that is correct," Koenma said. "Voldemort is the Dark Lord who is after the Boy Who Lived, Harry Potter. Voldemort heard of a prophecy, about someone who would destroy him, apparently. He thought the boy was Harry Potter, so one night he set out to kill him. He killed Harry's parents, then turned his wand," Koenma stopped, seeing Yusuke's strange look at the word 'wand.'
"Wands are the magic sticks that wizards use to cast spells and such," He clarified.
Kurama and Hiei sweatdropped.
"Anyway," Koenma continued. "He performed a killing curse, The Avada Kadavra, which was supposed to always work. But Harry Potter survived, but the curse left a lightning shaped scar on his forehead. He became famous, and the curse rebounded on Voldemort, leaving him at an even weaker state then the meanest ghost," Koenma finished. He took out his remote, and his TV screen moved closer to the Tantei.
The screen turned on, and it showed the face of a young boy, around 14, with bright green eyes, and messy black hair.
"Ch, looks too scrawny to take on a Dark Wizard, no wonder he needs us around," Yusuke said cockily.
Hiei snorted from the corner he was in, and sunk deeper into the shadows, the only thing shown was his glowing crimson eyes.
This motion caused Koenma to sqeak.
"Is there anything else we need to know?" inquired the fox.
"Yes! And this is the most important thing of al!" Koenma glared at Yusuke, who had a finger in his ear, looking unconcerned about the whole case in general.
"Do not," He put extra emphasis on the word, 'not,' "Blow your cover!" With this, his scowl became more pronounced, and from stress, he sucked on his pacifier extra hard.
"Understood, Koenma-san,"
"Yeah, whatever,"
"Hn,"
"Good."
The toddler was about to continue, when Yusuke interrupted.
"Why isn't Kuwabara coming? I'll get bored, not having that idiot to smack around while I'm there,"
"Hn, its better that he does not come." Hiei interjected, his quiet, but deep voice blocking out Koenma's voice completly. "He would blow our cover, doing something idiotic." He scowled.
"WOULD YOU STOP INTERRUPTING ME!?" Koenma exclaimed, glareing slightly at the three. "But, yes, Hiei is right- - Kuwabara would most likely blow your cover. And I did not sense any magic in him...He is good with his E.S.P, but lacks in the ability to channel his spirit eneargy into a wand," explained Koenma.
Yusuke sniggered, "I'm not going to let him live this down for a while!"
"Yusuke, it might be a little bit better if you don't tell him at all..." Koenma said, sweatdropping at the teen's antics.
"Hn..Where are we supposed to go?" Hiei spoke up, from the shadows of his little corner.
"Diagon Alley!" Koenma exclaimed. "I will open a portal to transport you all to England, right outside the Leaky Cauldron- -,"
He was interrupted by Yusuke, Kurama, and Hiei's snorts at the name.
Koenma sent them a glare, then continued. "Ask for Tom. Get some rooms. Hagrid should be able to help you out. GOOD LUCK ON THE MISSION!"
And with that, Koenma opened a portal, and they were all sucked into it.
"DAMN YOU, TODDLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!"
