Fan Fiction / Zoids Fan Fiction ❯ Anizoid interactive ❯ Zot ( Chapter 2 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

********************

Disclaimer: I don't own Zoids. I own a room full of cops and their chief, Benji, Beath, some 30-year-old dude, and that's it. Any other characters here belong to someone else.

*Slaps head* I forgot to mention my beta reader last chapter. Mookie. Thank Mookie for making this readable, people!

Author's Notes:

Please e-mail your characters! Your characters will show up as the story calls for them. Should be soon, too!

Jamie, Leon, and the Tasker sisters are no longer available for pairings. Two people want Brad+Naomi and so far none oppose. The only other couple people mentioned was Bit and Leena and they were against it ~_^ I'll give this all more thought. I don't suppose you all want Harry+Leena? Send me(wolfkicing@yahoo.com) your votes and your opinions. But try to use the REVIEW thing for exactly that. REVIEWS!

For those of you that don't care for the pairing stuff, don't worry. I won't drown the story in it.

We'll learn more of what anizoids are in this chapter. And if I didn't put you to sleep with all those notes...the story starts now!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I can't believe you did it again, Benji," came the passive voice of a young man decked out in blue jeans and a red shirt as well as a brown vest and boots. The two were heading towards the exit of the Leo City police station.
"Don't worry about it, Jason," Benji paused to wave at a few officers, "I do this all the time."
Jason didn't look too convinced. In fact, his brown eyes usually looked a little distant. "'All the time,'" he repeated Benji's words skeptically. "That chief guy looked like he was gonna have your head for dinner."
"Nah, that's just the way he shows affection. Everyone else in here likes me, and he likes the money." Benji concluded, nodding to more policemen and women.
"So that's how you wanna justify getting arrested for attacking those poachers with Carla? Not to mention wasting your prize money bailing yourself out?" Jason asked with only mild curiosity.
"Yeap," Benji stated. He stopped and watched an officer he didn't recognize cross his and Jason's path and enter a room. Her pale skin color gave him a chill.
"Don't know her?" Jason asked.
"Nope," again, Benji with a simple and unconcerned answer.
"Amazing." Jason said a bit more to himself than anyone.
Benji turned to him, amusement spreading through him like a virus. "Was that a joke?" he asked throwing an arm around Jason's shoulder. "There may be hope for this one yet."
In the room the girl entered, many officers stood chatting amongst themselves. She stood closest to the door. There was a small stage lifting only three feet off the ground. On it stood two young officers and one elderly black man. The man on the left held a wooden box. The elder was talking into a simple mike. Behind them was a relatively large screen.
"...And for more information on this," he paused and beckoned to the officer on his right. The young man took the others place in front of the mike. "If you'll all direct your attention to the screen," he said, forcing his words out with no small amount of nervousness.
They all moved away from the screen as the lights dimmed. On it the image of a green powder on paper appeared.
"As you all know, the drug Zot was able to increase thought speed and reaction time of a user. Used mainly by Zoid pilots, the drug was banned after a year on the market due to multiple reports of severe side affects. These side affects include addiction, stroke, brain nerve and muscle cell deterioration." The young man pointed a small remote at the screen and it changed to a picture of two Di-bison and one yellow Zaber Fang.
"As Chief Ellenor mentioned, one of the men apprehended last night displayed skills equal to that of an S-class Zoid warrior. His records show that his Zoid team was only in class D." He pressed a button for a soundless click.
The still image came to life. First a group Gordos played war with the Di-bisons. The whole time the Zaber Fang stood stock-still. There were many shouts of confusion coming from the Di-bisons when they began to lose. When the Di-bisons fell, the Fang sprung to life.
Its movements were so precise, it gave the room full of cops, with the exception of a white haired girl, goose bumps. The Fang had taken out seven Gordos, and was at
the moment 'chewing' on one of the downed stegosaur Zoids.
"Hey, what's going on in here?" Benji asked the entire room while opening the door as wide as he could. The sudden amount of new light affected the eyes of officers nearest the door, but not the one with floor length white hair. She stared blankly at the screen.
"Benji! Damn it! Will you get out of here!" Chief Ellenor yelled in his gruff voice.
"I just wanted to say bye to some friends. Let's see, Sherry, Leroy, Ronny..." Benji said, scanning the crowd who were giving him their full attention now. All but the white-haired girl.
"Goddammit, Benji, I'm one minute away from sticking you back in a cell! Now beat it!" the chief ordered again.
"Alright, alright. I love you, too," Benji said, shutting the door.
"He leaves town today, right?" the chief asked the man behind him without turning around. He was still trying to summon his patience.
"Y-yes sir. I believe so."
"Continue briefing," Ellenor stated hollowly.
"Yes, sir," he obeyed, and turned his attention back to the room.
"When we finally managed to apprehend the culprit, these were recovered from his Zoid's
cockpit." he continued, using his hand to guide their vision towards the other man on stage with the box.
The man opened it and revealed to them a handful of small metallic devices.
"We have dubbed this group of items, 'Zot gear,'" the man near the mike stated.
The other man held up a device that looked like a modified Zoid gear. After everyone got a good look at it, he placed it in the box and held up a small triangle with pins on the face of it at each point. He turned around and held it to the lower back of his head.
"We have dubbed this the skull cap."
The other man replaced the item in his hand with a larger one. He held this to his arm above his left elbow for a moment. He then turned the face of towards the small crowd showing them that again, three small pins were located on the device.
"And this the 'reflex cerbo.' We believe the three work together, somehow, sending messages from the brain to the rest of the body inhumanly fast. Much faster and more
advanced than Zot alone. We also believe Anizoid technology is integrated into the devices."
"In what way?" someone asked.
"Based on X-rays, we have reason to believe that small amounts of living tissue may be in the devices."
A bit of a commotion started up in the room. Small amounts of anger, confusion, and just plain curiosity caused many officers to get to their feet.
"Hey! Hey! We'll know more when the lab guys are done with it." The once nervous officer shouted over the crowd.
Benji and Jason made their way towards their Zoids that were across the street from the police station. The Trihorn Zoid, a Darkhorn with the head of a triceratops, was chewing on the sidewalk. Next to it stood Jason's red Zaber Fang. Nothing on its face changed, but the metallic creature seemed to lighten upon the approach of its master.
Jason stroked the metal nose of the Zoid before getting in. Benji approached his own Zoid, who hadn't seemingly hadn't noticed his arrival.
"Carla," Benji tried. Getting no response, he tried again. "Carla." The Zoid continued to chew the sidewalk. "CARLA!" Benji yelled pleadingly.
The Zoid looked up at him, giving off a warm-greeting aura that only an anizoid owner would feel. Benji climbed in after tossing a five-dollar bill on the concrete.
The cockpit was like that of any other Zoid but with one difference - a big, black, metal box between the controls. The green wire frame image of a golden retriever sprung from the box, with only the body from the torso on up exposed. Benji stroked the digital creature. The multiple lights gave off a resistance to most physical things, tricking Benji's hand into feeling something that was only there in spirit.
"Your ears are getting old," he said while rubbing his head against the light show representation of a good friend. Sometimes he wondered if it was such a good idea to have her confined to this form of existence, but as usual, he settled on the 'any existence is better than none' rationale.
Jason received a similar greeting from his anizoid, a husky named Fang. After the greetings, they were off to the Venom Team's base, which was fine with Jason. He had been to many places on Zi, and while Leo City wasn't one of the worst places he had ever been in, it wasn't the nicest, either.
Blitz Team's base
"So, did you find one, Jamie?" Leena asked as she headed to the command room.
"Yeah but..." he trailed off.
"But what?" They both stopped.
"I don't know about this guy. He is kinda...weird."
"Oh yeah? Let me a have a look at him." Leena said.
"You can't. Your dad is talking to Dr. Laon again." Jamie warned.
"Not again!" she said then stormed into the room where her father was talking to a huge vid screen. Jamie stayed near the doorway to watch the chaos unfold.
"DAD! We need to use the vid phone!" She screamed at him.
"In a moment dear," he said shooing her off, "Now where was I...Oh, yeah, six boosters!"
"Your crazy Toros! Ya hear me? Crazy!" the man on the vid screen shouted. He had a piece of paper, pen, and a cup of noodles on the desk he was sitting at.
"I'm telling you, Laon, it will work," the Doc stated calmly.
"Dad, Jamie, says the possible new member has a Zoid you've never seen before." Leena cut in.
Doc turned to her. "That's impossible. I've seen every Zoid there is."
"Bet you five bucks you haven't seen this one." Leena said smiling.
"You're on! See you later Laon." Doc said closing the line.
"No! Wait! What about my recipe!" Laon was saying as the screen went blank.
"All yours," Doc said, stepping aside. Jamie approached the keyboard, and in seconds a boy Leena's age was on the screen. He had unruly black hair and red emotionless eyes. The group was shocked at the sight of them.
"Have I been accepted?" he asked cold and calmly.
"We're still deciding," Leena, the first to recover, responded.
"What's your name son?" Doc asked.
He stared at the doc for one long second before answering. "Goji Kaiju," he said blankly.
"And what Zoid do you pilot?" Leena asked smugly.
The image of a humanoid Zoid appeared on screen.
"Wha..?" the Doc stammered. "Did you make that yourself?"
"Yes." was his simple and quick reply.
"That doesn't count, Leena! You can't expect me to know what someone is making in their garage miles away." Doc protested.
"Hey, you're the one that said 'That's impossible. I've seen every Zoid there is.' Now pay up!"
"Uhh guys..." Jamie said, trying to regain some of the team's dignity.
~~~

"We have a Zoid battle tomorrow." Jason said to Benji over the vid screen.

"Oh yeah," Benji said with counterfeit curiosity. "Against who?"

"The Zero X team."

"Hmmm..." Benji's reply still seemed uninterested.

"Oh, and there is something else..."

The base of the Venom Team was nothing fancy on the outside, nothing fancy on the inside. Just a one-story building with a large garage, surrounded by desert, with the exception of a solitary tree on the left side of building.

Entering the living quarters, Jason and Benji's eyes were greeted with the sight of two men and one young woman. The man near the counter of a small doorless kitchen was lean with midnight black hair worn down with a few spikes up. He was a year younger than Jason.

The other man, who was standing next to a small round table outside the kitchen, also had black hair, but his was slicked back and twisted into a thick rope that cascaded down his back. His skin was dark, as if he spent long hours working under the sun. He was a complete contrast to the girl standing next to him. A mere 5'2", her skin was pale and her hair white-blonde. The only similarity to her companion was that her soft hair also formed a long tail down her back.

"Hey, Don," Benji said, nodding to the man by the counter. He waited for the explanation that Jason had already given him and then the introductions.

"Benji, this is Finn Gest. He's a mercenary we've hired - "

"I know, to make up for me slacking off," Benji said, sounding a little displeased, although he didn't actually feel that way.

"And this is his sister Juliet, who will be staying with us as long as he's employed by us."

"Hi!" she said with a warm smile. Her voice and demeanor were again a contrast to her brother, who had yet to say anything. He just watched the predictable actions of the introductions play out.

"Hey," Benji replied. He looked to her brother and said to them, "I'm Benji Parks." Finn only nodded. This he already knew. In fact, he already knew a lot more than they thought he did.

"Well, I guess Jason can give you a tour. I'm going to bed. Night, people," Benji said, heading toward a room to the left of where everyone was standing.

"Is he upset?" Jason asked. Juliet frowned at the thought.

"Nope," Don said, fishing out something to drink. "He just thinks he should be, but since he's Benji, he's a little confused."

Finn looked at Don for just a second, then waited for the tour he didn't need. He already knew where everything was.

Jason wasn't quite sure what Don meant, but he took that as a 'no.'

Location unknown

In a gothic, medieval-like room, two men stood staring at burning logs in the fireplace. The room had red carpeting and furniture that looked like it had been imported from another time.

"What took you so long?" asked the blonde in the long brown coat, stopping almost at his heels. He was good-looking, with a sharply trimmed goatee.

The other man was older, in his early 30's, and looked irritated about something.

"The damn T.A.G.," he said bitterly "That damn crazy B!$# leader of theirs. I had to sit through an hour of complaints about them from your lower members."

"Hmm...well, maybe that will teach them to stop acting independently." he said, not taking his eyes off the fire.

"I can't believe your saying the T.A.G. was useful for something, Master Beath," he stated, half-amused.

Beath tilted his head slightly, raising his brows slightly for a second upon hearing the other man's words. "So tell me, how'd our spy do?"

"Excellent. As always, excellent."

As if on cue, the doors opened, and in walked a young woman with floor length, lavender-white hair, with bangs asymmetrically parted and falling to her chest. She walked up to Beath and handed him a folder full of papers. He nodded, and she left as soundlessly as she had arrived.

"Delicate little thing. Where did you get her?" Beath asked, flipping through some pages.

"Her father sold her to some higher ups, before your arrival, when she was three. She was returned to her mother recently on the condition that she would remain a spy if I'm not mistaken," the older man said combing through his memory.

Beath paused in his page flipping.

"Zot gear?" His tone wasn't really questioning.

Like my mom always says, "the first episodes are always slow."

Then I'd usually note that most first episodes are an hour long special. Probably to balance this fact.

Six characters were introduced, the team of two of them mentioned, and one character was directly mentioned. There are currently 14 people submitting characters, in case you guys were wondering.

Well I'm writing the next chapter...Now! I literally have nothing else to do.
