The Blood Rush:

"Van, were loosing heavy amounts of zoids and troops." "We've just gotta pull back to base!" Thomas yelled as he watched a shell ram into another friendly zoids cockpit and a pull of blood flying out from the exploded cockpit. Van then yelled back to try and beat the loud sound of explosions and gunfire, "I know, I know, I'll radio back to base and ask them for reinforcements!" Thomas shouted back, "Good, while you do that I'll lead try and encourage my men." Van meanwhile in his cockpit radioed his base and a picture of Karl Schubalts came up. He said to Van, "Ah Van, how's the battle going." Van then shouted back, "It's not a picnic sir, we need thousands of reinforcements to destroy these rebels." "We were wrong in our estimate of their numbers, they've got at least 39,000 to 40,000 zoids out here and they're strong as hell!" Karl then said, "I'll personally lead about 30,000 pilots to you and help you out. Is that good?" "Yeah that's good." Van said in reply. Van then looked to his right and saw two cannon shells hit hard a pilot's cockpit and blood of the pilot then covered the pilot's zoid and sprayed a little blood on Van's zoid. He heard over the com-link from a friendly soldier scream in terror, "Ah, their everywhere, were all gonna die, God forgive me for my sins, have mercy on me!"

Van was horrified by what he saw at least 100 Guardian Force soldiers lay wasted on the battlefield. Their zoids remains were all over the battlefield. Or just half's of zoids were on the battlefield with their pilot's blood on the zoids. It was a horrible sight. Van then shouted out to Irvine, "Irvine, get your men out of this battle field, NOW!" Irvine's screen came up and he said, "What, your kidding me, retreat, why, my company is getting lots of points in." Van then shouted back, "Damn it Irvine, do what I say, were loosing this battle, Karl's men are coming, but they will get here in a day, by then we will all be exterminated." Irvine then said, "Ah, ok MEN pull back in full retreat!" Van then opened up the com-link with Thomas, "Thomas, get your men back to base immediately, I'll try and hold them off." "What, I'm not leaving you, besides I would never here the end of it from Fiona." Van then said, "I'm asking you as a friend, and almost as a brother, please go now before it's to late." Thomas then said, "But, what about Fiona, you just can't leave her standing and moping over your grave or crying because you're never coming back." Unbeknownst to Van or Thomas the com-link to the base was on and Fiona, Doctor D., Moonbay, and Karl were listening in on this conversation. Fiona started to cry a little, and Van heard her sobs, and said, "You were listening?" Fiona then said, "Yes, but why must you always be the savior, why can't someone else simply be the hero for once." Van replied with tears, "I save the world for you, because I…" Just then the com-link went black and filled with gray static. Thomas then shouted out, "Soldiers, full retreat, all fall back to the base!" With that said 19,000 troops of the Guardian Force retreated like a bat out of hell. At 4:00 A.M. the defeated soldiers met up with Karl and his men. Karl said, "Thomas, what happened?" Thomas responded with shock, "It was horrible, the rebels, they were only in numbers to 19,000 while we were 40,000, they eradicated most of our men, they had super weapons, Raven, was their leader with his particle charged beam cannon, it…it decimated everyone." "Most likely they will get more rebels to join their idiotic insane cause." Karl then said, "Where is Van, Van Flyheight?" Thomas replied, "He stood behind, with a few men and tried to give us some time to runaway. I don't know what happened to him." Karl simply said, "Damn!" "Well, you did your duty, you all did your duty for the Empire, as did he and his men that stood with him to the end." "We shall head back to base and inform his majesty of our loss against these rebels." Meanwhile back at the battle site, Raven said over his com-link, "Congratulations, comrades, friends, fellow rebels, in our great victory against the Guardian Force." "I must now depart for our recruiter, I shall be back in 3 days. Meanwhile I wish for you 3 of you to go around separately and recruit more members."
