Chapter 7

I don't Wanna Miss A Thing

It had been one year since Raven and Fiona hooked up. Raven was planning something special for Fiona. She didn't like the idea of not knowing what he was doing, but she played along with it. She would try and get Van to tell her what Raven was doing. Little did she know, Van had been sworn into secrecy and if he told Fiona, Raven would find out and kill him. That put enough fear into Van to keep his mouth shut.

"Everything all set?" asked Raven.

"I did a check, we have everything," said Van.

"Add one thing to your checklist, Van," said Raven pulling something out of

his pocket. He opened a little box.

"Are you serious?" asked Van.

"Yea," said Raven shutting the box. "This is how I'm gonna do it." Raven

began whispering his plan into Van's ear.

"Shit, you better hope she doesn't find out about this or the surprise will be

blown," said Van.

"You better not open your mouth, or your head will be blown clear off your

shoulders," said Raven. "I mean it, too."

"OK," said Van taking a step back. "Put it somewhere secret. Somewhere

safe."

"Come on Van," pleaded Fiona. "You have to tell me, what is he doing?"

" If I tell you," said Van, "I'll be dead. I promised not to tell, and I never

break a promise."

"But this is Raven here," said Fiona trying to use the past to her advantage.

"So?" asked Van. "I forgave him a long time ago. Hell, it isn't even like it is

the same Raven."

"Fine," said Fiona. "I'll just have to wait for the surprise."

"Yes you will," said Van.

"She suspects something," said Van.

"Of course she does," said Raven. "She isn't an idiot like you."

"I'm not an idiot," said Van. He pulled a bag out from the mini-fridge. "Here

ya go. All the stuff you asked for."

"Thanks Van," said Raven grabbing the bag. Raven walked out of the room

and then into the hotel's main restaurant.

"Thanks for lettin' me do this," said Raven to the hotel manager who was

waiting for him in the restaurant's kitchen.

"No problem," said the manager. "The restaurant's closed anyways, so why

not. It's for a good cause anyways."

"Yea," said Raven. He pulled the box out again and showed the content to

the manager. "Let's just hope she accepts."

"She will," said the manager with a smile on his face. "She will."

Raven began making his anniversary dinner. Fiona had said many times what

her favorite food was, so he thought he would make it for once. Teriyaki

Beef laid over a bed of white rice, sautéed Broccoli, and some salad on the

side. He made the beef first and cooked the rice. Perfect. The Broccoli was

next, then the salad. Lastly, he made two fortune cookies. When he put the

fortunes inside the cookies, he added what was in the box into one of them.

He placed one on one plate, and the other. Everything was going according

to plan.

Fiona had received a call from the manager to come down to the restaurant

and to get dressed up for it. She came down in a beautiful dress. When the

manager saw her at the door, he was stunned. "Lucky son of a bitch," he

muttered under his breath. The lights were off as Fiona walked through the

door into the restaurant.

"What is this all about?" she asked aloud.

Two candles were lit and she could see the figure of Raven dressed in a tux.

She walked towards him. When she reached the table, the light were turned

on.

"Oh my God," she said as she saw the set up for two. Raven pulled out her

chair for her. "Thank you kind sir," she said as she sat down.

Raven pulled the dome shaped lid off of her plate. "Did you make this?" she

asked when she saw all of the food.

"Yes," he said as he sat down. "Dig in."

They began eating the food. When they had finished, Fiona said, "I'm

stuffed."

"I hope you have room for a fortune cookie," said Raven.

"Probably," replied Fiona.

He went into the kitchen and walked out with two plates with a fortune

cookie on each.

He set them down on the table. "Don't open it until I tell you to."

He moved next to Fiona and knelt down. "Open it," he said. She did. A

diamond ring fell onto the plate along with a fortune.

She grabbed the piece of paper. "Will you marry me?" she read aloud. "Oh

my God!"

"Fiona," he said grabbing the ring off her plate and held her hand. "Will you

marry me?"

"Yes!!!" she answered back hugging him. He put the ring on her finger and

gave her a long kiss.
