CHAPTER 6

She pulled a hand through her long silky honey blonde hair and gazed at the worried sky blue eyes that stared at her from a mirror. She knew something was terribly wrong, she could feel it, something was coming, something evil.

She sighed and wondered when she was supposed to meet her betrothed again. They where supposed to be married in 6 months and she hadn't heard from him or his father, what was going on? She didn't really want to marry him, but she had to do what was expected of her. She had to marry him to unite two of the tribes. She sighed again, someone knocked on her door and walked in, It was her brother.

"sister, father wants to see you!"

"ok I'm on my way, did he say what it was about?"

"I think it's about your husband- to -be"

I fell asleep almost immediately, it has always been easy for me to do that. I always sleep on the side too, I don't understand how people can think that laying on the back is comfortable. I'm a light sleeper too, my brother used to compare me to his cat. I didn't think I would but I really miss my family. I guess light sleep is a quality for guards too.

I awoke out of my dreamless sleep, cause the back of my head had started to get warm. Was I going insane or was Raven laying next to me with his arm over me and his face in my hair. Well it certainly felt like it, I moved a bit and he snuggled closer. The soft light of the fire had disappeared, that wasn't strange cause we had both been sleeping so it had died of hunger. Of course that's why he was lying this close to me, for the warmth. When I decided on that my eyelid started to feel heavy and I dozed of again.

When I awoke again a couple of hours later, I felt the warm light of a fire. He was missing, I sat up and looked around. I saw the horse nibbling at some grass, the rising sun was casting shadows in our little glade, but Raven was nowhere in sight. He wouldn't leave me here, right? I got up and noticed some fruits on one of the logs and I was about to pick up an apple when someone put a hand on my shoulder. Had they found us? I turned around and gazed into one bright green eye. He smiled at me and held up a rabbit.

"Breakfast" he said and walked over to the saddle bags to get a knife.

"ok I want to take a look at your gash later..." I tried to calm down my stomach, he really scared me.

He looked more alive now. Maybe because I was watching him in the sun now, not a dark cell. His wound was healing quick too, but that didn't surprise me, he his a forest creature and they are known for their healing capability.

We erased all traces of our stay in the little glade, well almost all we left the saddle in the top of a tree. We couldn't take it with us. We are two it's not easy sitting two in one saddle. It worked when we were in a hurry but it's not very comfortable.

The only question Raven answered about his country was that it would take about 10 days to get there. He is quiet, my friend. But I don't mind it, I'm use to silence. We continued riding without stopping until the sun started to disappear over the horizon. And my stomach wasn't so pleased about that. But when I had asked why we couldn't stop for a little break earlier he wouldn't tell me.

We prepared a little camp then repeated the things we did last night. I went to get some fruits and he went out hunting. I don't know why but I didn't like the part of the forest I had winded up in after walking for a bit. Why I don't know it was just a feeling.

I hadn't found a single fruit or berries until I practically ran into a huge tree with yellow apples? I didn't know they could be that color. But then again I had lived half my life in the castle and all I knew about fruits is that they are eatable.

I climbed the tree and picked down a couple of apples and then jumped down again. They smelled an looked nice. Why not take a bit a little voice I didn't recognize said in the back of my mind. 'Yeah why not' I thought and took a bite. It was delicious.

So why not take another bite the voice said again. I did and before I know it I had eaten up the whole apple. Was it getting warmer or was it just me I thought as I stood up to go back to camp. As I walked I felt a little strange and dizzy.

After a little walk I had to sit down and then I heard the voice again. Telling me that I probably felt dizzy cause I was hungry. I took a couple of bites again and stood up to walk over to camp but my body just fell down to the ground again.

There I was on the ground and couldn't move. It was getting really dark fast and I was starting to get a bit cold. I don't know how long I had been there until I heard a gasp and felt someone shake my shoulders.

"DAIJ! What's happened?........oh no n~oo....you didn't eat any of these, tell me you didn't......" Raven, he had probably found the half eaten apples my fog clouded mind told me. It was hard to be sure, I felt so disconnected. It was not a god Idea to eat the apples I told myself. I tried to nod or say something but my body didn't obey me.

the next thing I new knew I woke up on a different spot, I didn't remember falling asleep. I was by a fire in our little camp with a pounding headache and no, I still couldn't move. I felt a cold hand on my forehead and stared up into two deep orbs of green. He had taken off his bandage.

"I'm surprised you didn't die..." I heard him say. But I guess I didn't register what he said for a while.

"oh?" I managed to whimper out.

"when humans eat from that fruit they die" his hand disappeared from my forehead and something cold was pressed against my mouth.

"open up and swallow." I did as he said and swallowed something round and cold. The dizziness disappeared but everything got dark. But before I drifted away I swear I could hear Raven whisper something.

Kimo: wha????....oh that little bit in the beginning....I didn't even notice it....

LiCat: what did you expect....would you jump someone you only meet just a few weeks ago???

Kimo: Li-Chan...don't you believe in love at first sight???

LiCat: no...eah...maybe...............
