It's All In Your Mind

 

The next thing BB knows Artirion is shaking him by the shoulder and trying to wake him.

 

BB: Dude, where are we?

 

Artirion: We are inside my mind.

 

BB takes a second to look over his surroundings. They were bleak, that was the first thing he noticed. There were many sharp rocks jutting up all around the landscape and pits of fire that sprang up on occasion these were interspersed all throughout the landscape. Then there were also large planes of naught but dirt. There were no plants, no water, no sky, and no sun. There was just this painful looking area that had no appeal. To BB it looked like hell.

 

Artirion: Alright we need to go and try to track down the demon, and then we need to subdue it. *Pointing off toward a very unhappy looking place*

 

BB: Does this demon have a home?

 

Artirion: No, it just wanders.

 

BB: Then how do we find it?

 

Artirion: The old fashioned way, we look.

 

BB and Artirion start to rove the landscape trying to find any trace that the demon passes this way. They walk on and on, not eating and not drinking in the scorching heat of the sunless desert, finally BB breaks the silence.

 

BB: Hey Artirion, I just though of something. Does it have friends?

 

Artirion: No, it doesn't. There are no friends here.

 

BB: Except us.*He smiled at Artirion's back*

 

Artirion stops in mid-stride.

 

Artirion: Friends? You and I? How can you say that? What have you ever done to earn my friendship?

 

BB: But you brought me here, so I thought……

 

Artirion: There is a distinct difference in being friends and being the best man for the job, so get this through your thick, green skull. I don't like you, borderline loathing you, we aren't friends and if you were under my command in the legion your head would be stuck on a pike by now. *Artirion was struggling to keep himself from yelling.*

 

BB was shocked by his words but his own anger soon welled.

 

BB: *BB's Head swells and it is bigger than Artirion and his arms were waving (Anime style)* Yeah? Well, maybe I should leave right now, let you get kicked off the Titans, and lose your precious Raven. You need me, and don't you ever forget it! I came along to show you I was sorry, but I am thinking on not holding onto that notion.

 

Both Artirion and BB grab the other's collar and raise their fists when a grumble nearby distracts them.

 

BB: What was that?

 

Artirion: It's here.

 

BB: What do we do?

 

Artirion: Run.

 

Both BB and Artirion bolt off in the opposite direction of the one they thought the noise came from; unfortunately the place they were standing in was a giant resonating chamber. This made it very difficult to pin the direction of sounds, subsequently then ran right into the demon.

 

Artirion: Okay BB, you ready to fight?

 

BB: Fight that thing?

 

Artirion: That's why were here.

 

The demon wasted no more time; it rushes toward them using a combination attack of raw muscle and spikes on its arms. It swings its arm spike, Artirion blocks, it swings its long fingernails and BB (as a gorilla) grabs its hand. The battle rages and it is clear that BB and Artirion are outclassed. Artirion is thrown to the ground, the demon raises its arm and is about to impale Artirion, when BB does the stupidest, most idiotic, and most heroic thing he has ever done. He runs up grabs the demon by the spikes on its back and pulls, bringing the demon crashing down on top of him. Artirion rushes forward and hits it with his staff. BB is screaming his head off, the spikes in the demon's shoulder blades stuck in the ground pinning BB beneath the demon's flailing body. Artirion kept up his attack and finally scored a sound hit on the demon's skull knocking it out and stopping its flailing. BB squirms out from under the demon. *His heart is beating out of his chest (Anime style)* Both Artirion and BB just lay there on the ground breathing and then BB laughs, Artirion laughs too. Soon they are just laying there laughing, marveling at their good fortune to still be alive.

 

Artirion: You okay? *He chuckles*

 

BB: Yeah.

 

Artirion: Are you stupid? You almost killed yourself there.

 

BB: Well, that's what you do for a friend.

 

Artirion: ………………You still think of me as a friend?

 

BB: Well yeah………yeah I do. Now let's go tie that thing up so we can get outta here.

 

Artirion: Right.

 

They get up and see the demon, still asleep and still stuck in the ground. Artirion starts chanting in a low tone then the demon slowly rose up into the air and was suddenly encased in what looked like concrete, then steel bands wrap around the block, finally it falls and is bolted to the ground by 16 foot carbonized steel bolts and titanium L shaped brackets. BB goggled, and Artirion smiled.

 

BB: How did you do that?

 

Artirion: My mind my rules, cool huh?

 

BB: Totally.

 

Artirion: Okay BB, time for us to get outta here. Just think about being in your own body and you will get home.

 

BB closes his eyes and does as Artirion says; suddenly he starts to float up until he opens his eyes. He is back in Titan's tower sitting rather foolishly with his fingers up.

 

Robin: What happened? Why didn't you go yet?

 

BB: What are you talking about? We have been gone for like hours.

 

Starfire: No friend BB, you have been gone no more than a few seconds.

 

Artirion: Yeah, it didn't take long did it?

 

BB: Why are we back so soon?

 

Artirion: Time is precious, waist not. *He winks in a sagely way*

 

Raven: Were you able to contain the demon?

 

Artirion: Yeah, someone would have to go into my mind with a crate of dynamite just to scratch the casing I put it in. *He taps his temple with his finger*

 

Robin: So, you're safe now?

 

Artirion: See for yourself.

 

He stands up and undergoes his transformation, standing there in all his demon ugliness he gives a little wave and reverts back to his original form.

 

Artirion: I am totally safe now, not a single thought of death. I can transform and not worry anymore. So, does that mean I can stay?

 

Robin: Of course.

 

Artirion smiles.

 

Artirion: Great.

 

Artirion turns and walks to Raven, sweeps her off her feet and into a fiery kiss.

 

Artirion: See, I told you, you weren't getting rid of me that easy.

 

Raven: Well, I see that I need to learn to live with you.

 

Robin gets Artirion to put her down, pulls him away from Raven, and into a corner. When they get there Robin discreetly pushed a hundred dollar bill into his hand.

 

Robin: Take Raven out and celebrate.

 

Artirion: Thanks Robin, don't wait up.

 

Robin chuckles as Artirion walks over to Raven, once again takes her in his arms and they both walk out the door. In the meantime the other Titans drag BB over to the couch and make him tell them about their adventure.
