Fan Fiction ❯ A Visitor from the Past ❯ The Less Depressing Epilogue ( Chapter 11 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Author's notes: Okay dudes there are two Epilogues, I decided to post them both because I couldn't decide which is better so I leave the decision up to you, enjoy.

Disclaimer: Please, let me stop saying this, I don't own Teen Titans.

The Less Depressing Epilogue.

Raven and the other Titans are gathered around a headstone, it reads “Artirion Loved Husband, Titan, and Friend.” Raven is sniffling slightly.

Robin: We miss you, pal, been kinda quiet around here sense you left. *He looks down at his feet*

Starfire: Let us enter out home and allow Raven to have some alone time. *She gives Robin a slight tug in the arm, but with her strength that nearly pulls him off his feet*

BB: See you later Raven. *He waves her a sad, little wave*

The other Titans go inside the Tower and leave Raven alone with the headstone. She sits down on the ground and hangs her arm over it. It's been two weeks sense he died, by her hand no less, and she hadn't been doing well, the others knew she had been taking the fall hard but they didn't know how hard. She takes a little bottle out of her cloak, and takes a drink.

Raven: *Speaking to the headstone* You know, I don't know why I do this. *She taps the bottle* But it really helps my mind state, and keeps me from going completely insane.

The bottle turns and we can see the label, it says vodka. She pours a little on the grave.

Raven: Enjoy. *She takes another swig.*

Raven sits out by the grave crying, talking and, drinking until she is both very drunk and very cold, then she goes inside where she'll cry herself to sleep again just as she's done for the last month. She walks by the rec room where the other Titans are talking but she doesn't care she just goes to her room. However, back in rec room the Titans are discussing her.

Robin: I'm worried about Raven, she doesn't seem to be getting any better, we need to find out what's wrong.

BB: She's just lost her husband, I think that's what's wrong, and moreover, she killed him.

Cyborg: She's getting worse though, she sits out by that grave all day and night, she has almost gotten hurt in battle twice so far, and she missed one entirely.

Starfire: Friend Raven is………………………troubled, I think it would be wise to learn what her problem is, we need to get her to talk about it. *She holds up her hand in a gesture of appeal*

Robin: Sorry BB, your out voted three to one, we talk to her tomorrow.

BB grumbles some nonsense but agrees.

Raven is still in her room her sobs are piteous and sleep is taking her, she enters her dream land but then the nightmares are waiting. She is in a hellish landscape, fiery and dusted. When she is just about to go searching she hears a bloodcurdling scream. She walks toward it and sees all the other titans horribly deformed and mutilated. Robin is the worst with burns all over his body, his face is swollen and charred, and there are huge bubbling sores all over his body.

Robin: *In a gurgled and pained voice* Raven help us please!

Suddenly, looks to her left and sees who it is who's committing all these atrocities, Artirion's frightening laugh makes her nearly jump from her boots. She looks over and sees him but it's his demon form. Suddenly he walks over to BB and uses a fire torch to burn him. Raven starts screaming, and then she is back in her own room, in her own bed covered in cold sweat. Her head is pounding and she reaches over to her nightstand, from it she plucks a little bottle and drinks the entire thing.

Raven: Why am I having that dream, he's dead and gone. *She wipes the sweat from her brow*

There is a pounding on her door.

Robin: Raven, open up.

She gets out of bed and walks to unlock her door, and invite Robin in. As he walks through the door he sniffs the air.

Robin: Raven, What is that smell?

Raven: Smell?

Robin: Smells like alcohol.

Raven: Oh yeah, that is alcohol.

Robin: *His eyes bug out* You've been drinking!?!?!?

Raven: No, I just needed to get something to calm my mind tonight.

Robin: Then you're okay, you sure??

Raven: Yeah, I'm fine, just a little mixed up right now, it's nothing serious.

Robin: Well, as long as you aren't drinking, like, every day. *He smiles and chuckles*

She chuckles, he doesn't know she is.

Raven: I need to get back to bed, g'night

Robin: Night, Raven.

Robin leaves her room but she knows sleep is a long way off; she can't sleep so she takes another drink and goes out to the waterfront. While she's out there she experiences a peace that the alcohol can only think about approaching. Artirion used to love coming out with her to the waterfront.

Raven: You had better be okay, Artirion.

She sits out there until the sun starts to rise and then she heads back inside, so the others don't worry about her. Then she gets the surprise of her life, BB is sitting in the rec room, apparently thinking (As hard as that may be to believe.)

Raven: What're you doing BB?

BB: Waiting for you.

Raven: Why?

BB: This *He holds up a one of her empty bottles of Vodka*

Raven: *Her voice cracks and takes on a distressingly high octave* Where did you get that?

BB: From outside your door, I don't know how it got there; I'm guessing by your voice that it's yours? *He turns to her his face is totally serious*

Raven: Yeah, It's mine.*She rubs the back of her neck* I guess I didn't know how much I drank.

BB: That's not all; I'm worried about you Rae. No offense, but you look like hell. Have you seen yourself in the mirror lately?

Raven: I've been trying to avoid them.

BB: Well, let me tell you now, you don't look so hot. You really need to lay off the drink and eat something, something other that carrots.

Raven: You don't eat anything but vegetables.

BB: I know but, I've been eating nothing but vegetables sense I was five, but you need meat and some bread.

Raven: I'll try.

BB: And finally, you need to sleep, I haven't seen you take a full night's sleep in almost ten days.

Raven: I've been having bad dreams, really bad dreams.

BB: Well, talk to me. Maybe talking to someone about it will help you cope.

Raven: I don't really want to. *She looks away from him*

BB gets up and walks over to Raven, he turns her head so he can look her in the eyes.

BB: Raven, I know it's hard, you gotta let it out or it'll eat you up on the inside, like a festering cut.

Raven looks him in the eye, if he wants to know so badly she'll tell him.

Raven: In my dream, you and all the others are chained to a wall in a burning hell and Artirion is torturing you. You are all also horribly deformed and scarred from the almost constant abuse that is forced upon you, and I'm always there to watch but can never help you.

BB flinches at Raven's very descriptive telling of her dreams; he decides maybe he should leave her alone and in peace for awhile.

BB: I'm sorry you have to go through that but now maybe the dreams will go away. *He tries to look cheerful*

Raven: I doubt it.

She is right, the dreams don't go away they get worse to include her in the torture and her doing the torturing. Finally, almost three weeks after her and BB's little chat, she can't take it anymore she can't sleep more that an hour or two each day. She is drinking heavier than ever sometimes whole bottles in single sittings, and she just can't take it anymore. She walks over to her chest of drawers and pulls out a long thin box. She then proceeds to the roof. Meanwhile in a whole other part of the tower BB is sitting in his room meditating, he keeps his meditations a strict secret from the others as he does with his drawing and writing. He is, however, suddenly pulled somewhere as though a large invisible hand were pushing him through the halls. Raven reaches the roof, and kneels down on the far side out of casual view, she sets her box down and from it draws an athame (Ritual dagger) and begins to carve various symbols from her home world into the side. She finishes just as BB finds himself outside the door to the roof.

Raven: I am done; I leave my body behind for better things to come. *BB opens the door*

Raven puts the blade of the knife to her wrist and prepares herself for the slash.

Raven: Here I end my life to seek the paridise that has been denied me.

She raises her hand over her head and readies herself to pull the blade across.

BB: STOP!!!! RAVEN, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?!

She whips around and sees BB looking right at her horror, rage, and shame rolling around in his eyes.

BB: Raven, what's wrong with you?

Raven: BB, I haven't slept in over two weeks, I can't eat for fear of loosing all in my stomach, I can't take it anymore.

BB: Then you should've told us, we can help you.

Raven: The last thing I need to do is burden you with my problems.

BB: Raven, if your problems are so bad you feel you need to do this *He points at the dagger* then I think we can take the burden. *He starts to slowly walk towards Raven* Now give me the dagger, c'mon Raven. You and me both know you don't really want to do this, so just put that silly dagger down.

Raven looks at him with her big round eyes, what he said sounded reasonable, after all these were her friends, if anyone could help her it was them. She lowers her eyes to the ground and throws the knife in BB's general direction. At this point BB runs to her side, and pulls her into an almost painfully tight hug.

BB: Don't you dare scare me like that again Raven.

Raven: I'm sorry, I didn't mean to I am just so tired.

BB: Then sleep. Hey Raven.

Raven: What?

BB: What was that he said to you, right before he died?

Raven: He said…………………………& #8230;…I do.

BB: There, now don't you feel better, Raven? Raven? Raven!

She had fallen into her first sound sleep in a month right in his arms.

Author's notes: Okay I know that not very Depressing but, I told you this was The Less Depressing Epilogue, well The More Depressing Epilogue is the next and last chapter. Some of you will never forgive me for writing it but I had to or my head would've exploded. So find it in the goodness of your hearts and know that I truly have nothing against Raven even though this story has been nothing but torture for her. Oh and I'm sorry this chapter was so short but if you don't like it, I'm sorry the next one is going to be just as short or shorter.
