Another busy day at Fujiroai High, students making their way to their lockers or classes. Nikumu sighes, and walks over to his own locker. He dials in the combination and grabs some of his books and shoves them in the bookbag he took off a hanger on the door of his locker. 'So much for the I-got-some-the-night-before cheer...' Nikumu thought to himself. He normally hated school, but went because he didn't want any shit off of his aunt for cutting. 'Besides,' he thought, 'there are some good days.' He closed his locker and turned around to find himself surrounded by serveral large boys. The raven haired boy gasped, 'So much for that.'
"Well, well, look who we've got here, boys." The tallest and ugliest of them all said to his cronies. The other boys sniggered loudly. "If it isn't our own little fag, Nikumu." The boys sniggered louder.
Nikumu's eyes were downcast, "Leave me alone Daija..." he muttered.
"Nah, I think I'll have fun with our local slut!" Daija jeered. The other boys began to laugh.
"Slut?" Nikumu questioned incredulously.
"Oh, you think I don't know? First you string along Daisuke, just to get some, and then dump him in the dust. Now you're with some other guy, and I bet you're gonna screw him over too, if you'll pardon the pun." The large boy said, his voice dripping with disdain.
"'Zuka isn't just 'some other guy!'" Nikumu burst out, but quickly covered his mouth with his hands. 'Kuso...' He thought, 'Now they know who... chikusho...'
"Oh, so now it's Taikito you've got in your clutches, right, slut!?" Daija yelled at the younger boy.
"I don't have him in my 'clutches' Daija." Nikumu said, strangely calm.
The large boy sneered, "I don't like you're tone, Azakai. You'd better run off now, run to your boyfriend."
"I don't need to run to Rezuka, Daija." The raven haired boy said, glaring.
"Then...just run off. You're presence is unworthy of mine."
"Tchah... You're presence is dishonoring this planet. You leave Daija."
"What? How dare you talk to me like that, you bastard!" Daija yelled, loosing his patience. His cronies began to fidget. Normally, the raven haired boy would have run away by then, either to the bathroom, or to his previous boyfriend, Daisuke.
Nikumu glared at Daija, his eyes flashing, "Let's settle this, once and for all." He looked to Daija's accomplices, "You, leave." The said boys looked to Daija with fear written on their features, and ran off. "Now. We shall settle this."
"What do you mean settle this?" Daija began, fear seeping its way into his voice.
Nikumu's eyes began to shine with an unnatural light. His blood red orbs seemed to pierce right through Daija, who was now sweating. "Finish this. Here and now."
"N-now, Nikumu, I, er, have to go! Yes, to class, er, yeah... Bye!" The bully ran off, fearing for his dignity.
The raven haired boy's strange optical glow subsided, and he shuddered. "N-nani? What happened? Last I remember, Daija called me a slut..." He knitted his eyebrows together, and began walking to class. "Hn..." He murmered, and walked into his first period class.
Meanwhile, Rezuka was sitting in his own first period class, Advanced Language Arts. He sat in his seat in the back, his legs crossed, one foot tapping in the air. He bit the eraser of his pencil, and then placed it on the paper. A few strokes, and his drawing was complete. 'Not as good as Nikumu's, but it'll have to do.' He grinned to himself and admired his work. It was a sketch of himself and Nikumu at the park feeding the birds. He smiled fondly, and allowed himself to slip off into the drawing. He awoke from his daydream by his teacher tapping his foot impatiently next to his desk.
"Mr. Taikito, if you want to draw, I suggest you take an art class. But, since this is Language Arts, I request that you put such things out of your mind, and concentrate on the lesson." The teacher said sternly.
"Oh...er, gomen nasai, sempai." Rezuka mumbled, and quickly put the drawing away in his bookbag.
"Well," The teacher began, and walked back to the front of the class. "As I was saying, this novel has several examples of differences in society being predjudiced against..." He continued on.
'Woah, better not let Mr. Okosu catch me daydreaming again...' The crimson haired boy thought. He looked down at his desk, but noticed something, 'Ah! Especially not about Niki!' He mentally yelled, and quickly thought of the biggest turn off of his life. 'My grandmother naked making out with...er...um...my mom! Urgh...nasty!'
Back with Nikumu, the raven haired boy was concentrating on a particularly difficult math equation. 'Ah, I hate math...' He thought, 'I mean, what is the point? Yes, in my future, I see a lot of triangles... and how to draw them in congruence is going to be my life's work.' He sighed. He put down his pencil, and stared blankly at the math book. "It just doesn't come to me..." He murmered.
"What doesn't come to you?" A young girl with pigtails sitting next to Nikumu says.
"The point of math... Geometry is particular..." Nikumu sighs.
"Oh... why? Are you having trouble? I'll help you if you want." The girl says kindly.
Nikumu was taken aback. Why was this person offering to help him. Him! And a girl, nonetheless. 'She must be new,' the raven haired boy thought to himself. "Sure, why not?"
"Okay then!" The girl smiles, "My name is Tsukiyo, what's yours?"
"Nice to meet you, Tsukiyo. I'm Nikumu..." he trailed off, waiting for her to recognize his name.
"Well, Nikumu, what are you having trouble with?" Tsukiyo says, moving her desk closer to his.
"...Well, constructiuon, mostly, but I'm not so sure about these flow-charts." the raven haired boy says.
"Hm, well, construction can be hard, but it's easy once you get it down. And flow-charts, yeah, those are a pain. Let's see now,"
Nikumu was stunned. Someone was actually helping him, and voluntarily. And a girl! Usually girls have disdain for him, probably because of his sexual preference. 'They think that it isn't fair. *All the hot guys are either taken or gay.' Nikumu thought, remembering a quote from somewhere.
"Hmm, well, you've got it right so far, but...here, yeah, that's where it's throwing you off." Tsukiyo continued, pointing to Nikumu's triangle.
"Oh! I was wondering what was wrong with it! Thanks, Tsukiyo." Nikumu said with a little laugh.
"You're welcome, Nikumu. Anyway, what else did you need help with? Flow-charts, right?"
Nikumu nodded, "Yeah, I just don't get them, too confusing."
"Hee hee, they're not so confusing if you have enough examples." she said, laughing.
Suddenly, the bell rang for the end of the period. The other students packed their bags, and made for the door. Nikumu finished up his flow-chart, and then closed his binder. Tsukiyo was still sitting next to him, peering into his eyes. Nikumu was a little unsetttled, "W-what?" He asked her.
"Nothing, I'm just looking at your eyes...a very peculiar color, no?" Tsukiyo said slowly.
The raven haired boy looked away, embarrassed. "I guess..." He muttered.
Tsukiyo smiled and brought out a piece of paper. She jotted something down on it really fast and offered it to Nikumu. "Here, it's my phone number. In case you need more help." She smiled warmly.
Nikumu took it, "Um, arigato?"
She slung her backpack over her shoulder and waved goodbye. 'Hee hee, he sure is a cute one!' She thought to herself.
Uncertain of what to do with the phone number, Nikumu just shoved it in his pocket. 'I wonder what that was all about. Well...whatever. I still have another period before I can see 'Zuka...'
The bell rang in Rezuka's class. The students filed out of the class, and Rezuka followed suit. 'Gah... Advanced Biology next. That class always takes forever... and I can't wait to show Niki my drawing.' He smiled to himself. 'I wonder what he was doing... well, I'll see him at break.' He walked off to his next class.
