Rivendell

________________________________________________________

At the mysterious entrance of the small 'human child',Elrond reminded himself Gandalf had taken her into his arms and made his way to the halls of healing.Elrond had followed after him still contemplating the strangeness of it all. They received stares as they walked by the sight of this child was intriguing indeed."Do you truly believe the Valar has answered our prayers with this child Gandalf"he questioned quietly. The wizard looked at Esha with a light smile upon his lips and a thoughtful _expression."We shan't know until it is time my friend, there is still yet another"Gandalf mused.Elrond nodded and looked at the child once more."I will send word to Glenfindel to be on his guard".With that the lord of Rivendell left Gandalf to care for the girl.

In the halls of healing Esha was given to a elf named Glawar. He checked her for wounds before reporting to Gandalf."She is merely tired master Gandalf nothing food or rest won't cure"he said. The wizard sighed in relief." I am curious however as to where you found her, for never in all my centuries of life have I seen anyone like her"asked Glawar. Then Gandalf did something any self respecting being would have done in his place. He lied like a motherfucker."Ah, she is from the southeast just a few days ride from Gondor","The village was destroyed".The elf nodded ,"Poor child what is her name?"."Yes, Esha is her name"the wizard answered absent mindedly. The elf looked at the slumbering human with pity."Ti's a strange name, what does it mean?".Gandalf gave a ungraceful shrug."Nay, do not ask of me of which I do not know dear elf".

Just then two hobbits came running in trying to hide from an unknown pro suer."Gandalf save us please!", it was Pippin. His equally as troublesome best friend Merry hid behind him."What have you done this time",Gandalf rubbed his temples to stop the impending headache he felt coming on.Shortly after the question was issued a very pissed looking Mirkwood prince came into the scene. His once golden locks were now covered in food.Glawar try as he might could not hold back a smile of amusement."They have defiled not only the kitchens but my person as well"seethed Legolas.Gandalf flinched out of trying to restrain his laughter.Oh, what a sight the prince was indeed. The hobbits however were wide eyed with fear and hid behind the wizard.

"Gandalf save us save us"they chanted. The healer could no longer stand up for he was doubled over in laughter.Legolas however was not amused.Just when he was about to chase the little trouble makers once more a horn was blown. All present turned they're attention to the sound.Gandalf sighed in relief and turned to Glawar."I leave the child in your care master Glawar, come along Legolas, you need to clean up before coming with me to greet the scouting party".Both elves composed themselves and nodded respectively.Legolas soon fell into step behind Gandalf while Merry and Pippin stayed with Glawar.

And for the first time both hobbits took notice of the sleeping girl." hey who is she?"they asked the elven healer.Glawar bent down and picked them both up.They squealed with jolly laughter and the elf smiled in amusement. Then he set them down at the foot of Esha's resting place."She is Esha so I've been told, rescued from a destroyed village".Pippin frowned and took a closer look at the girl."She one of the big folk?", "Yes she is but a child though".Merry tilted his head to the side."Why is her skin so red?, and why is her name so strange".The elf shook his head,"I know not either thing of which you ask young Perian"."He is not Perian he's Merry"said Pippin proudly.Glawar sighed in amusement."Perian means halfling little one".

Pippin blushed and turned to look at Esha once more. Both he and his best friend yelped as they noticed for the first time Esha was awake. Tired yet cheerful eyes stared at them with curiosity.Glawar came forward and sat at the edge of the bed."You are safe little one inside the halls of healing in the house of Elrond".The human child just stared at him blankly before giving him a soft smile."Where's mother?",It was this question that wrenched at Glawar's heart. But the elf kept his composure and tried to answer the child without outright lying."I know not youngling rest now thats it rest".The small human child eyes dropped close as he spoke softly to her. The elven healer smiled sadly at the child only to turn to see Merry and Pippin looking at her much the same."I ask that you go now the child needs her rest"he said softly.

The hobbits nodded slowly before leaving the room.Shortly after Merry and Pippin left another elven healer came to Esha's room."Glawar lord Elrond requires your assistance in the main hall".Glawar stood,"I'll be there in a few minutes Nessa ,watch over the child for me?".The she-elf smiled before taking his place at Esha's bed side."Go now my friend he needs your aid greatly"she said.Glawar only nodded before striding out the door.Glawar walked swiftly to the main hall mindful of Nessa's words. But nothing could prepare him for the sight that he beheld when Glawar entered the main hall. Laying on a examination table was a dark skinned human.

Lord Elrond stood hunched over the strange human, cutting away flesh from her abdominal area.Glawar moved forward quickly and addressed his lord. "Mi lord you called for my assistance?".Elrond looked up from his task and smiled weakly."I need your expertise in making bone restoration, look can this damage be repaired?".Glawar took one look at the wound and cursed venomously in elvish."Judging by your reaction I'm guessing not".The elven healer looked up in surprise. It was not Elrond who spoke, no the voice was far too soft cold and calculating to be him.Slowly for the first time he looked upon the face of the one he was treating. He was met by a cold stare of twin ice picks.

Finely pouted cherry lips contrasted greatly to dark bark like skin. The woman was perfectly alert to what they were doing. And yet she sounded as if she were in absolutely no pain. She just sat there staring at them calmly as they worked to save her life as if it were a day in the gardens. The healer cleared his throat uncomfortably." My lady forgive me-",but he was cut off. "Just call me Angel and there is nothing to forgive".He nodded absentmindedly." Now tell me how bad is it plain and simple"she said.Neither Glawar nor Elrond could believe their ears." Does this woman feel no pain?" the elf lord said in his native tongue."Apparently not",answered Glawar before he switched back to the common tongue,"I do not know how you could even survive". The mysterious woman's lips lifted slightly. It was a poor excuse of a attempt to smile but it was better than her blank stare.

"I'm very hard to kill".
