Prologue: Dark Interlude.
The eerie halls of the giant mansion always gave her the creeps when she walked down them; she rubbed her right arm furiously as a shiver of coldness crept down her spine.
She turned left down the halls, keeping her eyes to the ground; it always felt like the pictures were watching you when you came down this corridor. The carpet below her was a blood red colour, going straight up the middle of the midnight black carpet that lay underneath it.
Her eyes moved towards the big brown oak door with the brass doorknob shaped like a bear, pulling at one of her sleeves before she gently knocked on the door, why did her team have to leave before her? And leave her alone with this monster. She let one more sigh escape her, then gently knocked on the door.
"Come in," a deep voice boomed from inside, a slight laugh followed the words, which made her shiver even more.
Pushing the door gently, she moved around it and slid into the room, closing the door again just as quickly as she opened it.
The room she walked into was decorated very similar to that of the hall, a pitch-black carpet that looked like a starless space, the red carpet that went straight up to the front of a large pine desk, it circled the desk, before joining up with itself again.
The walls were covered with picture of the man that sat hidden in the shadows, sometimes he was standing next to a rather large man with small glasses perched on the end of his nose.
"Come here child," said the voice again, the harshness in it made her realise that she was in trouble.
Nervously she walked up to the desk, and stood waiting, waiting for whatever her punishment was.
The figure in the dark chair moved around to the other side of the desk, he was a tall man, with a muscled body, a pair of cold brown eyes that looked almost pitch black now as they glared angrily at her, white hair that hung loosely round his face. He was wearing a grey suit with a red tie that showed clearly up against the white shirt, he wore under his jacket.
"You wanted to see me sir," she asked nervously taking a small step back as he approached her.
"Yes," he growled, then becoming gentle he stroked the side of her face, brushing some of her blonde and purple hair out of her green eyes "Are you packed yet?" he asked keeping his face very close to hers.
"Yes sir," she said her soft accent spilling over her words "I'm ready to catch the train tomorrow morning,"
He moved away from her, bring his hand up in the air then slapping her across the face with full force.
She yelped in pain as the back of his hand connected with her cheek, knocking her head sideways furiously, her jaw clicked under the pressure. Tears welled up in the corner of her eyes, but she quickly pushed them back.
He always hit her, for as long as she could remember for no reason at all. The one time she'd actually asked him why he hit her; she was thrown into a wall, and almost died.
Watching him through her hair, she saw him getting ready to hit her again. She tensed her body up, preparing herself for the next blow "What have I done to make him hit me all the time?" she thought angrily, forcing back tears that she hadn't shed for years.
She could see him walked towards her, his arms went round her wrist and flung her round to face him "Take your punishment child," he growled throwing her against the wall, pressing his body up against hers "Take this as a final step in your training," he whispered roughly in her ear, as one of his hands ran down her side.
"Help me!" her mind screamed out.
--- SOMEWHERE ELSE---
"I'm coming!" he yelled in response, his legs were moving fast but he was getting know where, the clocked figure in front just kept getting further and further away from him, the words help me rang in his ears "I'm coming, I'll help you!" he yelled.
"Your not going anywhere, Kai," said another voice from above him, it was full of life, but with an edge of concern in it, the sound rang a bell in his head "Tyson!" he yelled.
"Yeah Kai I'm here, hello," replied Tyson picking up Kai's body and shaking him, till Kai jolted awake and glared at him.
"What are you doing Tyson?" he asked dangerously glaring at the navy haired boy in front of him, he could feel Tyson's hands still holding the top of his arms.
"You were yelling in your sleep," said Tyson nervously letting go of Kai and backing up "then you yelled for me," he elaborated hoping that Kai wouldn't jump up and murder him on the spot.
"Why would I yell for an imbecile like you!" growled Kai, looking around at the rest of his team, who were looking at him, worried "What?" he snapped at them.
"It's nothing Kai, but you sounded really distressed," explained Rei sitting down next to Kai, a bold move considering Kai would probably rip his throat out for that.
Kai glared at Rei for a second the just looked away "It was a dream, everyone gets them, don't worry yourselves about it," he said at last hoping they would leave him now.
"Whatever you say Kai," muttered Rei, standing up and looking at the remaining members of his team "We'll leave you too get ready, remember it's our last day here we've gotta catch the train to the tournament tomorrow," with that the whole team left the room, leaving Kai too his own devises.
He sat up in his bed the dream running through his head, bringing back unwanted memories "Master, are you alright?" Dranzer's quiet plead rang in his head, he didn't answer his bitbeast call as he still refused to believe that Dranzer could communicate with him.
His whole body started to shake "Those memories why won't they leave me alone," he though angrily, he was visibly shaking as he got out of bed and walked into the bathroom.
Through a small crack in the door, Rei watched his leader "Something's bothering him." He thought then added as a mental note "And I'm going to find out what," after that he closed the door again and moved away from it.
Kai looked into the mirror in the bathroom, one his hands gripping the side of the sink till it felt the sink may collapse under the pressure. Kai was confused and he didn't like it one bit.
"I will always be with you," said Dranzer again, as if a mimicking a memory that was locked away in Kai's brain.
That was all Kai could take, his legs gave way and he collapsed in a heap on the floor, one of his hands still clutched the edge of the sink.
