CHAPTER 1: TAKING THE TRAIN

Kai and the rest of the bladebreakers stood more or less patiently at the train station waiting for it to arrive. Tyson was being restrained from running around like a five year old by Kenny, while Max continued to bug Rei about what he did with all the sweets. Kai off course was standing a few feet away pretending that he didn't know any of them, but still kept close enough so that he'd be there if anything happened.

"Where's that train?" asked Tyson tapping his foot, after getting the message from Kenny that he had to stand remotely still "It should be here by now,"

"Why are you always so impatient Tyson?" asked Kenny, looking at his navy haired friend, who just returned Kenny's look with one of his most devious grins.

"I just can't wait to get to that tournament and show them what champions are made of," he yelled happily, jumping from foot to foot in an excited manner.

"Where already world champions, this tournament will be a walk over," said Kai, talking for the first time in what seemed like ages. He headed towards the plat form "The train's coming," he called back to them.

"Wow, is it me, or since yesterday morning as Kai been acting even more moody," whispered Max to Rei.

"Yeah, he took ages to come out of his room," replied Rei not bothering to lower his voice, Kai must have known they were concerned about him.

The train just pulled up, when Kenny was knocked over by someone running very fast "Hey," he protested as he fell to the ground, the person who knocked him over flew round and looked at him.

Kenny looked up and met a pair of bright green eyes, that blink once "Uh…sorry," said the owner of the eyes, laughing nervously "I thought I was going to miss the train," the person, explained.

Rei looked over to see where Kenny was when he saw him talking to a blonde haired girl "Hey guys look," he said pointing to Kenny and the mysterious girl.

The girl had long blonde hair that travelled to the middle of her stomach, it also had purple streaks in it, and purple bangs that framed her bright green eyes. She was wearing a short sleeved white tight t-shirt with some words wrote along the front, in silver, and a pair of denim jeans that fanned out a little at the bottoms. She was helping Kenny up of the floor, and half laughing at the expression on his face.

Kai looked out the window, his eyes went wide as he watched her "Her," he thought, watching her more closely as she started to walk with Kenny towards the train, it was then that her bright green eyes met his dark ones.

They stood staring at each other for a moment, him on the inside of the train, her on the outside. Both seemed lost it what ever it was the recognised about each other.

"It's him," her mind screamed, half her body wanted to turn around and leave the other half knew she had to get on the train and meet her team mates. Eventually her training took over and she walked on board, not breaking eye contact with him for a second, till Kenny offered her a seat.

"Oh Thanks," she said smiling at him, then gently taking her seat between him and Tyson, Tyson off course took the opportunity to boast and pry at the same time.

"So you going to the tournament?" he asked, not taking his time to dance around the question, she didn't look like much of a challenge anyway.

"Yes," she replied looking at him.

"So you beyblade," he said more to clarify it with himself then asking her.

"Well, I'm not going to the tournament to sit down and watch," she replied a hint of sarcasm in her voice "So yes I beyblade,"

"Well where's your team then?" he asked glancing over at Kai, who was giving him a warning glare.

"They're already there, waiting for me," she answered honestly, following Tyson's eyes, and meeting Kai's glare. She sat there watching him, like she was in a trance.

Tyson whistled once quietly, the lent over to Max "They haven't even spoke and there gazing into each others eyes," Max stifled a laugh and nodded in agreement.

Rei, who was sitting the other side of Kenny also noticed this, but it wasn't like the looks that passed between him and Mariah, it was one of an confusion, like they knew each other but at the same time were complete strangers.

"So you haven't told us your name yet," stated Rei leaning forward a little and looking at her, she turned to him and smiled.

"I'm Sophia," she said simply, Rei was about to introduce himself when she held up her hand "I already know who you guys are, everyone knows who the bladebreakers are,"

"Oh yeah," said Rei feeling rather stupid that he forgot how famous they all seemed to have become all of a sudden, well with bladers anyway, other people didn't care particularly much otherwise.

She turned her head down looking at her lap, the memories of yesterday's events running through her head, and those tasks that were now ahead of her. Looking up to meet Kai's dark eyes again, she smiled slightly at him.

Her smile almost knocked him over; it was so unexpected. Despite himself he found that he was giving her a small, almost invisible smile back. If you weren't paying attention his smile may have passed by notice, and that for most the bladebreakers was the case, however Rei didn't miss it.

He watched the exchange between the two; something was up, he could feel it.

The group sat in silence for another hour, Tyson's stomach would occasionally rumble telling him that he was hungry, but for some reason he didn't feel like eating anything, and he also didn't feel like drinking. The train pulled to a halt and they all looked up as the two doors slid open.

"It was nice meeting you," she said smiling at all the bladebreakers, then bending down and getting her bag "I guess I'll see you at the tournament," then turning back to them.

"Yeah," replied Tyson standing up, and grinning at her "Good luck, cause your gonna need it,"

"I do not doubt that," she replied smiling back at him, once again she felt her face turning towards Kai "And so will you," she thought to herself, the bladebreakers just didn't know what they'd just let slip right through there hands.

The blonde girl was about to step off the train when another figure appeared in the door, making her take a few steps back letting the figure come into view, Sophia's green eyes lit up at the sight of the person in the doorway.

"Luka?" she asked covering her hand with her mouth when the figure nodded, all the bladebreakers turned their eyes on the stranger. Standing at the entrance was a tall boy with long black hair, which ended at his shoulders, with piercing blue eyes, a smirk on his face. She was wearing a pair of black trousers and sleeveless green vest top.

"Yep, that's me," he said a smile forming on his handsome face.

Her face went from shocked to pissed in a second "You should be in hospital!" she half yelled at him "You haven't fully recovered yet and I know you still get those headaches,"

"Sophia calm down," he said more seriously walking forward and gently placing both his hands on her shoulders "The hospital let me out, to come and watch you guys blade,"

"So you didn't run away from the hospital?" she asked innocently looking up at him with concern, and then added "Again,"

"No, I wanted to watch my team play," he explained "Plus that hospital is driving me nuts, I needed to get out,"

"Well why are you here?" she asked "Why aren't you with Darren?" she spat the name out in disgust.

"Uh…well," said Luka a bit put on the spot by the question "Me and Darren broke up,"

"Oh, I'm so sorry," she said trying to sound sympathetic.

"You don't have to pretend to be sorry," he replied casting a glance over the bladebreakers in slight interest, as if seeing how they'd react to him being gay.

"Sorry, but that guy was such a bitch," she said following his eyes over the bladebreakers "But I' am sorry to hear about you breaking up, I know you liked him,"

"Men come and go," he said absent-minded "But do you mind introducing me to your friends, and maybe getting off the train before in leaves,"

"Oh yeah," she said grabbing her suitcase and pushing him off the train followed closely by the bladebreakers, who were more then confused by the stranger.

The five boys stood side by side looking at the black haired boy waiting for an introduction, as he chatted ideally to Sophia.

"Who's this guy?" whispered Tyson to Kai, who was standing on his left. Kai turned and looked at him briefly then back to the girl and boy in front, he felt like he knew them both from somewhere, hidden deep within his memory. Something about the boys grin reminded him of someone he used to know, someone he didn't like, and he definitely didn't like this guy, at all.

The girl on the other hand, Sophia, Why did that name mean so much yet so little to him? It was like he'd heard it before, her voice, it all awoke his senses, but he didn't know why.

Tyson watched his leader with concern for a moment, something had him spooked but what was it? Was it this guy?

Rei also noticed his leaders unnatural quetness, and the way in which he was glaring at the black haired boy, Luka. But then again something in Rei's mind told him that this guy wasn't trustworthy and maybe that's what Kai was feeling.

Rei moved closer to Kai's side and whispered "I don't trust this guy," his voice serious, his golden eyes didn't remove themselves from the boy Luka.

"Neither do I Rei,"
