Chapter Six
August 25th, 2001 AD
Galaxy: 408BS2
"So, how are.. Zeans.. different from humans?" Anas asked, trying to strike up a conversation after much uneasy silence.
The human boy had been questioned by Seri and I.. and after much thought - and a night of aching limbs and troubled thoughts, I came up with the conclusion that this had to be an obvious mistake. Being a perfectly healthy male human, he seemed VERY average. He had no experience in war, he had no idea of what was behind his own galaxy... there should be some other Anas or something.. there had to be...
Though the thought of a mistake crossed my mind, I didn't announce this, trying to keep my face emotionless. Was all of this just a waste of time? I wasn't sure... but the only glimmer of hope I had, was to keep checking Anas for any abnormalities - so he would have to go back to Zea with us anyway.
When Anas broke the silence at the kitchen table, I looked up from my hard-thinking stare, glancing at the boy who had just set down bowls of cereal in front of us.
"I mean.. you know.. you DO look very human," Anas said after a few seconds of more silence.
"I think the correct way to say it, is that humans look very much like Zeans. We, as beings more evolved than you, only makes sense," Seri replied.
"That still doesn't answer my question," Anas answered, taking a bite of food.
"I think Zean males are taller," I put in, measuring up Anas. "My father is average height - at about seven feet. What is the average height of a human? Something between 5'5 and 6 something?"
"Um.. I think so.." Anas said, "but we have tall humans too... what else?"
"You know, you're really started to annoy me," Seri grumbled. "I don't think it quite matters how we're different from you, because we've got more important things to think about. I thank you for our survival, but in no offense - you seem to be missing the objective that we're trying to figure out why the HELL, YOU of all people, are the one who shall set the demise upon the most powerful race in the universe. You should watch your foolish questions, boy, because you may find out too much - like who's the SECOND strongest race in the universe - and I bet I could prove it."
I stood up and cleared my throat, "Anas," I addressed him as he flinched. "Heh - I'm not going to hurt you.. Seri's just a little frustrated right now.. and I would like to explain to you why... but it will take MUCH too long for me to tell you at this moment.. so I advise you pack something.. we've got male battle suits inside the spaceship, so you may not need to bring clothes. But... I think you might want to take some food with you."
Anas gawked at me. "WHAT?! I don't want to leave Earth! Besides! Your spaceship is all busted!"
"You're forgetting one thing, human," I said amused, "Our spaceships are very unlike your own. It's energy is automatically recharging as we speak, and judging that ours is an older model, it won't take much longer for the full defense shields to upload once again."
"B-but.." Anas stuttered. "I can't.. I've never been off the surface of.. It just won't.."
"LOOK!" Seri shouted abruptly. I glanced at my friend, frightful that we would scare the boy off. She took a deep breath. "Look... if you do not make this one sacrifice.. well - the Geels will one day reach your planet. As secluded as your little hideout is, the Geels are only slightly off track of your galaxy in their mad attempt to destroy everything. They will probably find out about this place before your life is over, and you will watch your people suffer - and you will know it was all your fault because you. didn't. come. with. us. Do you get it?"
"I.." Anas stuttered, taken aback at Seri's harsh tone.
"It's okay, Anas," I assured him seriously. "If you come with us, that probably won't happen. Only fate will decide, right?"
"R-right.." Anas said, almost shaking his head to recover from Seri's lecture. "Right. I think I'll pack a few things - and if your male battle suits look like that.." Anas' eyes trailed up my lightweight hiking boots, to the deep black spandex pants that came up to a little lower than my bellybutton, held up with a thin, flat belt - then to my black and dark green tank top covered in a thin, flexible armor, also dark in color, held up by a single tight-fitted strap at the shoulder, "-then I don't think..."
"No, no.." I assured quickly. "The male battle suits are one-piece... and, well - aren't quite as feminine..."
Anas gave a small laugh. "Okay.. I think I'll take a couple outfits just in case.. whatever... so - how long will we be gone?"
"How long will we be gone? From here?" Seri's asked quickly, her look wavered, and she hesitated in the middle of her sentence.
"Anas.. you..." I cleared my throat again, glancing into his eyes. "We - we may never return."
"WHAT?!" Anas shouted for the second time, "Then no way! I'm not going to leave my family and friends just for a couple of aliens-"
"The universe is in your hands!" I interrupted, my voice finally reaching a more hysterical point.
"How can we say this in any other way?!" Seri bellowed.
Before I knew it, we were all arguing, our voices reaching a level to that we couldn't get any louder.
WHAM!
I finally grabbed Anas' shirt collar, and slammed him against the wall. Suddenly, the boy looked terrified, struggling furiously to loosen my hold. Seri quieted down and watched as I got right up close to the human's face.
"Anas, listen. up." I growled dragging out my sentence. "Do you know how much my race has sacrificed for your safety? Do you - have any idea - how many have died, how much we have suffered - only for YOUR comfort? Tell me, foolish boy, that you'd rather stay here and waste a few years on Earth with your family, until evil, ugly monsters invade this world. You will not be able to stop them from killing everyone you love. Everyone that you have and have not met. If you do not come with me, you WILL die a treacherous death. How can I make you understand that they care about no one? You will come with us. It is not a choice I can let you make. You must come - and if you do not.. you are destroying the whole universe. I cannot let you do this, so you have no choice. So come.. or I'll kill you NOW." I let go of the alarmed human, as he fell a few inches to the ground, rubbing his neck, grumbling about some unknown crap.
"Kaita.. was that really necessary?" Seri whispered to me, "You could have hurt him..."
"He has to know his own destiny," I shrugged. "Hey, where did our ship land?" I glanced over at Anas, who had instantly recovered and was now straightening his stretched shirt.
"I may be too primitive to remember," Anas shot, daring me to make a move, "But luckily, I'm one of the smarter humans. I'll show the way."

Planet Zea

"Captain Bijin.. come here, look at this."
A Geel concentrating on a computer calculation rasped for his comrade to approach him.
"What is it?" The fellow Geel grunted.
"Well.. your order, sir.. was a very difficult one.. and-"
"-and you failed to complete it?" Bijin asked the lowly soldier, "Because if you have failed.."
"I have not," the Geel answered quickly, his hollow eyes bulging slightly. "Your order.. was to find the One - and the energy sensors found it.."
"So what is the problem?" Bijin huffed. "Would you like to look at the ancient script again? Or do you doubt the powerful Geel elders?"
"I do not, though may I, sir? I think my own data could be wrong.." the lowly Geel asked nervously.
Bijin sighed. "Here," he pulled a small scrap of paper from a nearby drawer, thrusting at the unnamed alien.
The Geel read over the script, scanning every word slowly, with the most precise care and extraordinary patience. The script read:
Powered by blood which set us free
Pure of heart and strong as thee
Heed these words, be careful mind
One soul may power or let us flee.
Be careful for this power source
Is hard to find and masked off course
For they stand for justice
Yet still could down our rise
Our opposer is strong
Lest we break their fragile prize.
A warrior straight from the heavens above
Sent with the goal to set flight the dove
To win this war, and stand for peace
And heroically battles for any small beast.
For the purity of a child
Is less simple than thought
And would go through any lengths
To end a war predicted thought.
So remember these words
From these dying wise souls
We will get our revenge
On the race dare question ours.
"I am sure they fit the criteria exactly.. right to a T.." the Geel stuttered.
"Isn't it marvelous?! One would never think... but after following the treasured scripts of our forefathers.." Bijin trailed off.
"Oh yes," the foot soldier Geel agreed. "They were a gifted bunch - telepathic.. they could tell the future.. in later scripts they mentioned a weapon that would bring them down.. yes, and this very Zean shall go against her own allie.. we'll make sure of that.."
"It is a Zean.. of the blood that set our race free.. yes.." Bijin murmured to himself.
"And this jewel shall have enough pure energy to be able to fire our perfect weapon to win this war easily, am I right, my lord?" The soldier asked.
"Yes, we can easily transfer their energy into the device..." Bijin growled in the scratchy Geel tongue. "So quit wasting my time.. we already know that this person's energy will let us rule the universe, we've all known this for quite a long time.. now please - tell me who this is?"
"The energy source is the generals own daughter," the lowly Geel said thoughtfully.
"You mean that annoying elite child?! Yes, yes.. their army is poorly run - a child in the elites.. ridiculous. No wonder they can't stop us, they have naive children in the war," Bijin said.
"Sir? How are we going to get our hands on this child? We cannot afford to underestimate her.. she is of course our-"
"Yes, I know!" Bijin interrupted. "I'll take care of that, you just stick to your business!"
"Y-yes sir.." the Geel replied, exasperated.
PEW! PEW!!
Bijin raised his hand and shot a lightning rod-like fire from his fingertips twice - destroying the soldier in an instant. He gave a sadistic grin. "Sorry, scumbag.. you might ruin all of my plans.. I've got some things in store for Kaita after we capture her and drain her energy into our weapon.. yes - we cannot kill her until it's fired, or the link will be incomplete... and since we can't have you meddling in my plans for this pathetic child, I had no other choice.. heh." The head of the Geel army spit on his fellow's writhing body. "You will not escape me again, Kaita.. next time, your annoying, psychic friend will not be with you.. I will make sure of that."

"Right there," Anas pointed to a spaceship almost perfectly renewed since it's hard landing. He was carrying a huge box of food and supplies, and had to shift it into one hand in order to point, which teetered in the boy's unsteady grip.
THUD.
"Wait a sec," Anas called as we ignored the fall of his stuff, hurrying on towards our ship.
"All communicators are good I hope?" I asked Seri as she peered at a little button pad that had been hidden inside her boot for safe-keeping.
"Yep, everything's ready to go," Seri said, pressing a button that opened the spaceship's front.
Anas, who had quickly caught up to us, jumped as the metal door opened with an airy sound.
I smirked at his ignorance, catching the boy's eye. All he did was give me a sarcastic smile back.
Seri, closely followed by Anas and I, entered the spaceship - and though repaired on the outside, chairs and tables littered the floor inside the dome.
"This spaceship - is big.." Anas commented, scanning the bare walls and measuring almost fifty feet across from wall to wall on each side.
"It's got two stories as well," I informed. "This floor contains the kitchen and controls - which, I might add, you may never touch.. and the basement floor is the training room and sleeping chambers. You may have free use of the kitchen, bath, beds, and weight center. Any questions?"
"Yeah - are there separate rooms?" Anas asked sheepishly.
"Sorry - sleeping chambers are all one room. Though there are curtains around the beds," I answered.
Anas looked a little relieved, and I smirked again.
"Life's not modest... live with it," I said simply.
"Kaita.. you are one in a million," Seri sighed, grinning and closing the door on her small pad, plopping down in the seat to the controls.
"You're going to be our pilot?" Anas asked. "I have NEVER in my life seen a young girl work the controls of a flying aircraft - especially one that's difficult as this."
"Well," Seri said, "besides that I could work these controls while sleeping, you are a very confused boy."
Anas muttered and grumbled as I suppressed a small laugh.
"Anas.. you are entering a world so advanced to your incomplicity, that your wildest dreams may start to come true," I chided.
"Ooh, you mean I might grow a brain stem?" The boy shot.
"Sorry," I said. "It's not that I find your race funny or anything. Don't be offended that we're interested enough to take you with us. Remember - you are supposedly the 'incomplicit' being who shall bring our good race to victory at long last."
The human looked a bit more proud, though didn't answer.
"Are you ready?" I asked Anas.
"Uh.. no?" The boy answered, "But that's okay I guess.. this should be a fun adventure.."
"Yeah, until we start the fighting, huh?" I muttered.
"Fighting? There's gonna be - fighting?!" Anas asked.
"Uh huh, I think that's how wars go, ne?" I laughed as the boy went pale.
"I have to sit down.." he muttered.
"Good idea," I grinned, "we're going to take off in only a few seconds."
Anas fell into a secure chair, buckling a seat belt. "Don't we have to wear space suits or something?" He asked.
"What? Do you mean battle suits?" I wondered, sitting down in a chair next to him and buckling my own seat belt.
"No.. space suits as in.. oh nevermind.." he muttered. "I just hope you are humanoid enough that I can trust I won't start to explode or something.."
"It's okay, this spaceship is very safe," I assured him as the computer began the countdown from five seconds.
"Hoo boy.." Anas was still pale as ever, and looked about ready to faint.
"It is OKAY," I said. "For the last time... and we don't have to worry about war until it comes, right?" I grinned slightly as his lips weakly turned up. "We'll protect you." The spaceship flung itself into the air, but our straps held us firmly in our seats.
"Heh," Anas grunted a small laugh.
"What's so funny?" I asked him, puzzled.
"Well, usually on Earth.. it's the burly man who saves the delicate woman from harm. But here I am - being assured that a couple of muscular alien females are going to protect me.. and I'm not too weak compared to others on my planet," Anas answered.
I closed my eyes and shook my head at this unbelievable man. "Well, you're going to need a lot more protecting than we do, I can tell you that," I said shortly.
"Heh - right.. whoa!" Anas had just peered out the side window, facing a large planet with a red spot on it's lower half. "That's Jupiter!" Anas stuttered. "We must be traveling at light speed!"
"Not quite," I grinned. "You see, we have been able to rearrange the energy of the ship to fool space and time, altering light speed so that we may travel this way, but no more time passes than regular. So technically, we are going slower than light speed, for we are not messing with time, but we do go about as fast."
"Oh? False light speed, huh?" Anas asked.
"Yeah, you could say that," I replied, leaning back casually in my chair.
"How long will this trip take?" Anas asked.
"Two weeks to get to the home planet," I answered automatically.
"What are we going to DO to occupy our time?" He asked. "I'll get bored with staring at planets all day.."
"Touchy, aren't you?" I asked dully. "I guess in that time, I could teach you the art of combat, and how to use miniature laser guns properly."
"But I've already taken self-defense!" Anas objected.
"YES, but you need a lot more practice than you've been getting. You should feel lucky - trained by the student of the greatest fighting master in my galaxy."
"Is he really great?" Anas asked.
"He WAS really great - he was extremely strict, but had the purest of hearts. He sacrificed himself for our race, dying for the protection of our underground base and all of it's people. You will see this base, and probably see his dojo once we get there," I said.
"So we're going to an underground base? Sounds a bit musty.." Anas remarked.
"You keep forgetting our perfectionist-based technology," I said, waggling my finger at him. "For you see, we have created the base to look, feel, and sound like an open planet."
"More and more surprises.. you really are a unique race," Anas said kindly. His skin had turned back to it's normal color, and he was now relaxing to the low hum of the spaceship's engine, witnessing an intergalactic marvel right outside the walls of the confined area of our spaceship.
He was the luckiest human of his time. And the simplest, most valuable being in the universe. I wondered now - is it wrong to be using a boy like this? Though I know the answer.. I am not using him - I am fulfilling his dreams and setting free the enslaved worlds, gaining his trust, he gaining mine. His chance of a lifetime - sitting next to us as our equals, all flesh and blood, both races unite, sharing a bond so similar, you could not tell apart Zeans from Humans. We were all painted from the same pallet. We only wanted to be at peace.

"No.. space suits as in.. oh nevermind.." he muttered.
