Anyway, here's seven:
Ava Seven
~~*~~*~~
The trip through Mar's territory had, thus far, been uneventful. Kael had only had a few minor run-ins with some of the Twisted Mage's…monsters. Mar was well known for his warped tinkering with involving the creating life. The simple fact was that Kael was far from the first of Mar's creations, he was just one of the more successful ones.
The closer he got to Mar's stronghold the stranger and more perverse the creatures he encountered. Kael chose to continue his journey on foot after being attacked in the air by half a dozen of Mar's flying guardians. These `guardians' were a barely sentient patchwork of extremely low-level servant demons and, as far as Kael could tell, sheep. They were ugly and ungainly things with horns and furry bodies who ambled through the air on mangled wings. They would have been harmless to Kael if it weren't for their ability to spit acid long range. After his third scoring, Kael decided it would be in his best interest to walk the rest of the way.
Once Kael had landed, the flying guardians lost interest in him as Mar's mental programming only told them to attack what was in the air. Kael was sure there were more efficient killers to take care of land bound invaders infesting the dense, tropical jungle surrounding Mar's fortress as it were.
In his haste to flee the guardians Kael was unable to find a proper landing area. Not that there were many clear places suited for landing in this particular rainforest in the first place. Instead, Kael put down in one of the forest's less sinister looking trees. That is to say, it didn't reach out for him as he flew by or rustle alarmingly upon inspection.
As he clambered down the trunk of the massive tree, a thousand suppressed memories came rushing up from the depths of Kael's mind. The scents and sounds of Mar's forest were enough to trigger these unwanted memories and force Kael to relive them.
His claws gouged deep tracks in the rough bark of the tree as he fought to keep his past at bay, but it came on nonetheless. In flashes of sporadic thought he saw people and faces long forgotten. Dead friends and former tormenters wavered before his bewildered eyes as he clung desperately to reason. He relived the executions of his friends and witnessed again the vile ceremonies he had been forced to participate in. He saw twisted beings being brought to life, dragged into terrible existence by Mar and his mages right in front of him, unable, as always, to stop them.
He saw Mar, his creator, his father, his greatest oppressor in a thousand different images. He felt again the revulsion, the hatred he had felt so long ago when Mar had first touched him. He saw himself, young and innocent, being seduced by the mage and used over and over again.
With a howl of rage Kael forced the memories from his mind. He made his way quickly down to the ground and sat leaning against the tree for a moment. His head spun and ached. He was beginning to doubt that these bouts of remembering were simply a result of returning to his former home after so long. Mar had already proven that he could force himself into Kael's mind with immense ease. These floods of memory could be another method of weakening Kael.
Kael snarled. His inability to shut his former master out rankled deeply in Kael. He knew that Mar's sole purpose in stealing Ava must be to get Kael to come to him. The Twisted Mage was a revenge-oriented creature. He would probably like nothing better than to destroy Kael utterly, and the demon knew it.
He also knew what Mar had been doing to Ava over the last two days.
Mar had been unable to break the bond between Kael and Ava, though not for lack of trying. Kael had felt Mar's increasingly hopeless attempts to sever the bond. The more the mage pulled and yanked at the link, the harder Kael held onto it. Mar had eventually given up, leaving the bond intact and Kael extremely relieved.
Because Mar could do nothing to stifle the bond, Kael could feel all of Ava's emotions if he concentrated on receiving them. He learned quickly that doing so was a bad idea. Ava's emotional status had changed quickly from complete and utter terror, to all enveloping blankness, to physical ecstasy.
Mar had raped Ava.
Kael knew it was rape because if Ava had given himself willingly to Mar then the bond between them would have disintegrated on it's own. Kael wasn't sure why he had come to this conclusion; he just knew it was so.
The rage that had consumed Kael when he first felt Ava's pleasure had been immense, and he had come very close to crashing into a tree. Knowing that his darling Ava was being used in the same ways he had been, and being unable to do a thing about it had been heartbreaking. Having to block Ava's presence from his mind so he could concentrate on flying had been even more heartbreaking. Kael's only consolation was the knowledge that Ava was not being hurt by Mar.
Yet.
Kael shuddered to think what methods Mar had used to subjugate Ava. He thought back to his own experiences with the Twisted Mage and shivered. Whatever had been done to Ava, whatever horrors he had suffered, Kael would do everything in his power to reverse them.
And once he had done everything he could for Ava, he would kill Mar.
It was clear to Kael that he could no longer run from his past. He had thought himself clever for eluding his former master, and had clung to the illusion of safety for fifteen long years. He had taken as many precautions as possible to protect himself from Mar, of course, but he should have realized his infamy as the `Golden General', as the ever-poetic commoners insisted on dubbing him, would draw the attention of the mage eventually.
He should have found himself an unassuming job as a blacksmith or something else equally nondescript, but his violent tendencies and predisposition towards fighting had led him to the military instead. He had joined the Northern army under the coalition of kings known, unsurprisingly enough, as the Northern alliance. Kael could have easily joined the army of their enemy, Emperor Karek, as demons willing to fight alongside humans were eagerly welcome into any army, but Kael knew Karek and Mar were, if not allies, at least friendly with each other.
Anyone willing to be friends with Mar had to be evil, and Kael wanted to fight for a just cause and defy his master further. After a dozen odd years of fighting against Karek and his hordes of deranged minions he knew his assumptions about the emperor to be correct. Karek was as mad as Mar and equally dangerous, and Kael fought him with every ounce of strength that had been bred into him. His abilities as a strategist and overall determination was noticed by his commanding officers and he moved slowly up the ranks from lowly private to head General. He was second only to the kings themselves before he was twenty-five.
Kael wished now that he had never done any of the heroic, courageous things that had gotten him noticed by his officers. At the time he had only been trying to prove his worth… trying to confirm to himself that he was more than some mage's toy.
Of course, if he hadn't done those things he would have never met Ava. He would have never laid eyes on the most exquisite creature ever to exist and he probably never would have shared his soul with someone. His life was no longer simply his own, and he would do well to remember it.
Kael rose from the spongy, moss-covered forest floor with a low growl. It was time to stop reminiscing and get back to the business at hand. Kael concentrated momentarily on strengthening his mental shields before beginning to pick his way through the dense jungle.
He had barely walked ten feet when he was greeted by the snapping of twigs and a low rattling snarl. Kael froze in place and reached slowly to his side to grasp the hilt of his sword. The strangely flowered bushes to his left shook violently and parted revealing a creature better suited to exist in a madman's nightmares.
The beast was a good foot taller than Kael and probably several hundred pounds heavier. It might once have been human, Kael wasn't sure, but it certainly wasn't any longer. It had mottled, bluish-black fur covering its massive form and soulless white eyes not unlike a corpse's. Its massive arms hung past its knees and it carried a club. It rather reminded Kael of a troll he had killed once, except bigger and smellier. The demon sighed, if this was the manner of beast he was going to run into in Mar's jungle it might be better to fly.
The creature gave another low, almost hissing cry and lunged at Kael. Not surprisingly, it was slow. Slow and stupid, Kael soon realized. Its attacks were clumsy and devoid of finesse. The poor thing blundered about in the undergrowth, knocking into trees and floundering through bushes in its attempts to strike at Kael. He decided it would be best, and most humane, to kill the misshapen thing and put it out of everyone's collective misery.
Kael waited for the troll-creature to draw itself up to swing at him once again and neatly sidestepped as it crashed past him. He turned gracefully and drove his sword through the things spine with inhuman ease. He wrenched the blade free and stood poised, waiting for the beast to fall. It turned to look at him, bewilderment in its empty gaze, before falling on its face with a soft `oof'. Blood pored from its fatal wound and pooled on the forest floor. Kael shook his head in disgust. Mar could at least take care of his creations instead of throwing them out like last week's garbage.
Kael wiped his great sword on the same bush the monster had been lurking in and sheathed it. There was no honor in killing mindless monsters such as this pitiful creature. The existence of abominations such as this was just another reason Mar had to die. What madman sought to create such a horrible creature much less release it into the world to who knew what ends? What if the thing had wandered out of the jungle and into a town?
Mar had to be stopped; he was a menace to society, pure and simple. He was deranged, insane and cruel beyond measure. …And he had Ava.
These thoughts in mind, Kael redoubled his efforts to reach the stronghold. He shoved his way through the trees, making as much noise, if not more, than the troll-creature had in his single-minded haste. He almost blundered into a nest of bloodsucking slugs before he realized he was being moronic. Attracting the attention of every hostile life form for miles for the sake of speed was more than a little foolhardy.
Kael slowed to a stop and scratched his head. He needed a plan…a plan more solid than `storm the castle and rescue Ava while ignoring danger to ones own life.'
He doubted Mar had changed his fortress much since Kael had run away. The mage disliked change with an almost manic passion and would therefore be loath to remodel anything. Hell, he probably still used the same set of soldiers to guard the castle. That wasn't necessarily a good thing, however. Mar's elite squad of fighters, who served as his personal bodyguards, were a nasty lot. Kael wasn't sure if he could take very many of them at once. He would have to come up with a way to avoid them, or risk getting his ass kicked.
He would also have to come up with an escape plan. Mar was sure to be angry if, when, Kael managed to make off with his new prize. Kael seriously doubted he had any chance in hell of killing Mar by himself. Kael wasn't to much of a sorcerer himself so he had little protection against a mage like Mar. He would need help, lots of help, killing the Twisted Mage.
But that was worry for another day. His single prerogative now was getting Ava safely away from Mar.
~~*~~*~~
Mar observed Kael's progress through his scrying stone with mild interest. He was curious to see how Kael handled monsters he had put in his path. He'd been rather pleased with himself when Kael had been forced to ground himself to avoid his aerial guardians. They had done their job better than Mar had anticipated and the mage was feeling quite pleased with himself.
Mar was also proud of himself for completing his work on Ava with time to spare. The delicate slave had adapted quickly to Mar's instructions. There had been a minor hitch, however. Mar had run across a scar on Ava's shoulder that he was unable to vanish. He had wanted to make sure the little slave looked his best for his final meeting with his former master and had been healing all the minor blemishes and wounds on Ava's body. This particular scar was obviously a bite mark, quite possible from Kael himself. Mar had been quite adamant in removing it and all other traces of Kael, but was forced to eventually give up when he realized he was on the verge of another temper tantrum.
Mar giggled, it was no matter. Kael would soon be dead and the scar, wherever it had come from, would be meaningless. The mage had very explicit plans for Kael and couldn't wait to implement them. In the meantime he would continue to spy on Kael and monitor his progress. If he were lucky he'd get another gory show like the one with the enhanced troll.
~~*~~*~~
Kael was beginning to suspect, after the seventh `random' monster in a row, that he was being watched. One or two encounters in succession he could understand…but this? The realization that Mar was most likely watching him at this very moment, and quite possibly dictating his movements was disconcerting. At least he was assured of eventually ending up at Mar's fortress as the mage was undoubtedly herding him in that direction with each and every monster attack. To date he had killed a strange toad like thing that oozed orange slime, a two headed, ten-foot bird creature, a one eyed cyclops and four more trolls of different colors.
The journey was, in short, becoming a pain in the ass. Kael was not going to be in a good mood when he finally reached Mar's fortress.
The demon smashed through another layer of clinging undergrowth, which caught on his wings and tangled in his hair, and stomped into a clearing. He scanned the area, golden eyes blazing and sucked in a breath. There before him spread out in all its warped glory was the stronghold of the Twisted Mage.
The fortress was a sprawling affair that melded and merged with the jungle around it in an unnatural mating of living growth and stone. It was a mess of randomly snaking and twisting towers and bizarrely shaped buildings of indeterminate size. Kael felt a clenching in his gut as he looked at it. The palace seemed to waver and distort itself before his eyes into revoltingly unnatural shapes. Only the stronghold of the most vile of mages could create so sinister an atmosphere all on its own, Kael thought with a shudder.
Kael strode into the clearing with only the slightest hesitation; he would gladly brave the horrors of Mar's fortress for Ava. As he had anticipated, a trio of Mar's personal guards came to meet him. Sure enough, they were the tall, red skinned lizard-like men with empty black eyes Kael remembered from his time living in the palace. He stood his ground as they neared him and did not to draw his sword. They were here to lead him to Mar, he was sure.
“Kael…” the leader whispered in his gravely, broken voice, “Take you to Master we must…Follow.”
Kael sneered at the lizard-man and marched past him to enter the palace. The lizard-men hurried to keep up with him, their scaly feet rasping grotesquely on the marble floors. Kael knew his way to the throne room Mar was sure to be waiting for him in, and hurried towards it.
Now that he was here, within the palace walls, and close to Ava, his blood was boiling. His long, clawed fingers clenched on the pommel of his sword and his fangs showed in an unconscious snarl. He would distract Mar, grab Ava and run like hell. It wasn't a good plan but it was all he had to work with.
Kael came to the ornate double doors leading to Mar's throne room and made to open them. He did his best to ignore the disturbing designs carved into the black wood, carvings which had terrified him as a child, and reached for the serpent shaped handle, but the door swung open before he touched it.
The room revealed by the open doors was, in a word, opulent. The walls were covered in heavily embroidered tapestries, the parts that weren't open to the jungle that was, and the floor was a massive mosaic depicting decadent scenes of battles and sex. The air was heavy with the scent of incense and the perfume of exotic flowers. Kael ignored the rich environment; he had witnessed it all before after all, and instead focused on the far end of the room.
On an intricately molded throne of gold sat Mar, which he lounged across indolently. He didn't even look up when Kael entered even though he must have been the one to open the door; instead his attention was focused on something on the floor next to his throne.
Kael peered into the poorly lit corner and gasped. Sitting on an enormous, plush cushion was Ava. His slave was completely naked save for the bit of metal strung between his pierced nipples and the slim gold collar around his neck. Ava knelt on the cushion facing Mar; he nuzzled the mages hands and licked at his fingers as Mar stroked his face.
“Ava!” Kael cried, rushing forward. He grunted in surprise when he was caught by the arms and dragged to halt half way across the room. He found himself restrained by the three lizard-man guards from earlier. Kael struggled frantically against them, jerking and twisting, but was unable to free himself. “Let me go, you bastards!”
A giggle from across the room pulled his attention away from escape and back to Mar. “Oh, Kael, I hadn't noticed you arrive, dear.” He surveyed Kael's rather disheveled state and smirked, “Was the journey rough, then?”
“You know damn well it was, monster. Give Ava back to me now and I'll let you live.” Kael was, of course, lying, but Mar need not know that.
“Oh? And just how do you propose to do that, hmm? I think my guards have you well under control…and as for Ava…I've become quite attached to him. Yes, I think I'll keep him, if you don't mind.”
“I do mind, you filthy whore!” Kael shouted. Ava finally looked towards Kael, a expression of detached annoyance on his pretty face. He actually looked disappointed that Mar had stopped fondling him! And his eyes… The brilliant violet orbs were dull and…glazed looking. “What in god's name have you done to him? I swear if you've harmed him in any way…” Kael left the threat hanging, to angry to finish.
“Silly dear, Ava's quite alright. You see, I had to drug him a little to get him to cooperate, but that will wear off in time. For the time being all you really need to know is that he's entirely devoted to me…his Master.” Mar reached down and began to pet Ava again. Ava tilted his head and arched into the petting. Kael could hear him purring.
“Gods… You're not his master; you've only drugged him into thinking so. Ava…Ava, please, hear me. You have to fight him, you have to remember who you are, you--” Mar made a pass with his hand and Kael was abruptly cut off. He opened his mouth and tried to speak but was unable to. Mar had silenced him magically.
“There's no need for that, Kael. If you're doubtful about my darling Ava's loyalties I'm sure he would gladly give you a demonstration of his love for me. What do you think, Ava?” To Kael's horror Ava looked up at Mar eagerly and licked his full lips with obvious interest. “Well then, come here, kitten.” Mar chuckled, amused by Ava's eagerness.
Ava crawled forward on his knees to kneel between Mar's legs. He put his slender hands on the mage's thighs and carefully pushed away the material covering his groin. Kael tried desperately to fight his way out of his captors grasp as Ava took Mar's flaccid member in hand. He howled silently when the slave began to gently stroke the length.
Ava lowered his head to take the tip of Mar's cock in his mouth. The mage sighed with pleasure and slid his hands into Ava's hair. He caressed Ava's scalp as he began to lap at Mar's cock with his tongue. Ava abruptly swallowed his cock and began to move up and down it slowly. The mage was fully hard now and slowly pushing himself further and further into Ava's mouth with his thrusts.
Watching Ava deep throat his most hated enemy and seemingly enjoying it was almost enough to make Kael throw up. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists as Mar's sounds of pleasure began to get louder.
“Ava…my darling, you are so good at this.” Suddenly Mar pulled Ava's face from his crotch and off his member. “Dear one, you are going to make me come to soon. Do you want me to make love to you?” Kael felt as if he would die when Ava rose to his feet, nodding eagerly.
“Oh, Master, please…” Ava whispered, biting his soft lower lip.
“Of course, lovely.” Mar drew Ava into his lap facing Kael and positioned him over his rigid member. Ava tilted his head back onto Mar's shoulder and mewled as the mage's cock slid slowly inside of him. The sight of the two of them together, bound in ecstasy, was both unbearably saddening to Kael and irresistibly beautiful, and the demon was riveted by it, unable to look away.
Ava began to move in Mar's lap, lifting himself up and down the mage's cock with slow, rocking movements. Mar grasped the slave's waist and aided his bouncing. Ava moaned loudly and began to rock faster, arching back against Mar.
“Oh, Master! Please, harder!” Ava whimpered. He reached down and wrapped his hand around his own slender cock and began to stroke himself eagerly.
Mar obliged Ava and began to thrust up into him harder and more forcefully. The mage turned his face and pressed his lips to Ava's. They kissed with a frantic ferocity that made Kael, already unwillingly aroused, throb with need. Mar relinquished his grip on Ava's waist with one hand to cup the slave's balls. Ava cried out and pushed himself down on Mar's cock even more forcefully. With Ava's balls out of the way, Kael could see Mar's member sliding in and out of Ava's wet entrance. The sight horrified him and made him ache even worse.
Ava impaled himself on Mar one final time and screamed as he spilled himself onto his belly. Behind him, Mar groaned and gave a last upward thrust before climaxing himself. Ava went limp against Mar and the mage hugged him for a moment before he gently lifted Ava off of him and cuddled the exhausted slave against his side. Ava sighed and made a soft cooing noise, nestling against the mage, his drugged eyes heavy lidded and sated.
“Oh, Master…” he murmured.
“Any doubts now, demon?” Mar queried. “I think it's fairly obvious whom he prefers, yes?” He stroked Ava's ears soothingly and leaned down to give him a tender kiss.
Kael struggled impotently against his captors, rage burning inside him.
He was going to murder Mar, he was going to rip him limb from limb and incinerate his corpse.
He was going to wreak his revenge in the most terrible, bloody way possible.
