Bounty Iso I:
Quest for the sword:
Retrieving the Sword

Iso looked at the forest. It had been 18 years since the day he had gotten lost in the woods. He could just barely remember it. He ran his fingers down his scars.

Lime looked at a footprint. It was normal for a while, but then it started changing. The toes grew into one, then split in half. They shrunk down and grew a third toe out of the back of the foot. The tracks disappeared a few feet in front of the forest.

Davis shook his head. “We're going to be dealing with a lot of wolf-men.” “Actually,” said Lime, “Were-beasts have the power of lycanthropy. That means they can turn into a human, animal, or a cross between the two. Wolf-men stay in the form of a half wolf half human at all times.” “Like that makes it better!” Snapped Davis.

Iso took out his sword. “Take out your weapons. If a were-beast attacks us we'd only have a second to get our weapons. That's fast enough for a kill with their speed.” Davis gulped. `The narrator's trying to kill us.”

The trees were thick and dark. Strange noises came from all around. Iso looked at some bent twigs. “A were-wolf. 7 ft 6, 95 lbs, adult male.” Davis stared at Iso. “How do you know this?” Iso pointed at some words carved in a tree. “He wrote them here.”

Iso heard rustling in a bush and pointed his sword at the bush. “Show your self, or I do some weed whacking.” A man with messy black hair stepped out. His face was dirty and he was only wearing some jeans.

Iso put down his sword. “Sidney. What are you doing here?” The man rubbed his hands together nervously. `No need to use names here. Do you know what he could do to me if I was seen helping you? I don't need to remind you about when I saved you in the Blue Moon forest!”

Davis rubbed his head. `Okay, why aren't you gutting this guy like a trout?” Iso held his finger to his mouth. “Sidney rescued me when I was a baby. But he never does anything unless there's something in it for him.”

Sidney's eyes turned black and beady. His nose turned black and shot out. His front teeth grew longer and whiskers sprouted out of the sides of his nose. He sniffed the air and the ground for a few seconds. “Were-Tigers. It's not safe here. Follow me!”

Two figures dressed in black cloaks waited by a pool. One was huge while the other was normal sized. The big one was sitting on a rock looking for something.

“He's not coming Komo. Probably made a better deal with the Were-King.” The average one smiled. “What deal could be better then letting him live?” He asked. The big one turned to him. “Probably getting his tail back. That rat loved the thing.”

Iso and the others emerged from the bushes. Komo and his associate stepped forward. Sidney's nose grew back into its regular form. “Sorry we didn't take the path that was scheduled, but there were Were-Crows flying everywhere.”

The big one pulled back the hood of his cloak. He was black with a scar running from his temple to his chin. “Sidney the Rat reliable? Some one alert the media!”

Davis looked up at the narrator hoping to get some help. Komo stared at him. “What's with the kid?” Iso shook his head. “He thinks we're in a story.” Komo looked confused. “Well, aren't we?”

Komo was pale and had blonde hair. His right sleeve just moved in the wind because nothing was in it. Davis stared at Lime. “What the heck is going on here?”

Lime smiled. “This is Komo the Were-Komodo, Sidney the Were-Rat, and Malcolm the Were-Shark. The ones who rescued Iso.” Davis slapped his head. “Oh! But why are they horrifically grotesque?” Malcolm came towards Davis with is hands outstretched for strangling but Komo stopped him.

“Cerberus, the Were-King, and his henchmen, Fenrir and Leo, captured them for the crime and punished them. Sidney's tail was cut off, Malcolm got the scar and Komo was blinded.” Davis nodded. “I get it. But how can he do stuff if he doesn't have eyes? Is it because he's a distinguished warrior and does not need to see?” Komo shook his head. “That's just a bunch of new age crud.”

Iso noticed Komo's missing arm for the first time. “How'd you-?” Komo smiled. “A manticore gnawed it off in my sleep. The only time my heat sense doesn't work. It'll grow back.”

Davis turned around when he heard something. `Why do I have to do everything the narrator says?' He thought. He saw a number of horses grazing behind him. Sidney turned to see what he was looking at and screamed. “Were-Horses!”

The horses slowly began to transform. They were covered in body armor with spikes sticking out of the shoulders, wrists, knees, toes, and elbows. The only thing that wasn't in armor was the head, which looked like a horses.

Komo's skin began to change. It became darker and sick looking. His hair was absorbed into his scalp and his face grew forward. His eyes turned yellow and his teeth were sharper. His nose was absorbed into his face, and he grew a tail.

Sidney's nose stretched out, like it had before. Hair sprouted out all over his body. His fingers got closer together and his hands became smaller. He grew half of a giant rattail.

Malcolm hunched over. A dorsal fin grew out of his back, right above his head. His chin joined together with his chest and he grew. His hands were the size of Komo's head.

Iso jumped into the water. He resurfaced and signaled for the others to jump in as well. “Hold hands!” He said.

“They dove into a lunar pool?” “Yes. Y-you see, Were-Horses can't swim, so they couldn't follow.” “Idiot! Lord Cerberus demanded that you find that halfling and his friends! He was dangerous as an infant, but he carries our natural weakness now!”

“I'm sorry, General Fenrir. I swear, I won't make the same mistake twice.” “I can guarantee that…”

Davis wiped himself dry with the towel Sidney had had hidden in his fur. “So these pools can take a person anywhere?” Komo nodded as he rubbed his right arm. It had grown back a few minutes after they had appeared here.

Iso stared at the scimitar. It was in a glass case being held by a statue of a Were-Wolf. Iso held his sword ready for the test.

The statue's eyes glowed and a small ball of energy appeared. Iso tried to slice it but it moved fast. He took out his dagger and his energy copies appeared. Each one sliced at the sphere, but it evaded them all.

The sphere dodged a lot of slices and kept going forward. It veered left and turned towards the statue. It was almost home free! And it ran right into Iso's dagger.

The glass case opened and Iso picked up the sword. It was heavy and required two hands to carry. The blade was carved from stone, and was chipped in some places.

The beginning of the hilt was in the shape of a crescent moon. Tassels hung from the bottom of the hilt with charms in the shape of a full moon, crescent moon, and quarter moon.

There was a sheath in the glass case as well. The sheath had a pocket with a note inside. “This sword is one of the three embodiments of Were-Power. The Were-Blades are located ---.” The rest had been smudged.

Davis smiled. “Great! We got the sword, let's leave!” “I doubt it will be that easy…” Said a voice. Davis turned. Three men dropped down from the treetops.

One man had a metal mask of a wolf on. It was strapped on so that only the person wearing the mask could remove it. “It's been a long time Iso.” He said. He removed the mask. His face was extremely scared. “How bout I give you some scars to match the ones you gave me?”
