Sokka and Zuko fought the rest of the small battles together; they stopped to
get some rest by order of their General, insisting that the two rest before
fighting the Avatar and Katara. They rested… and probably did a few “other
things,” until the entire land was nothing more then dead bodies and a few lone
soldiers, among them, Sokka, Zuko, Katara, and Aang.
The few firebenders and earthbenders who stood standing watched as the two
couples met each other’s gaze and fought at fair distance as Aang and Katara
walked forward towards Zuko and Sokka.
Zuko looked at Aang with utter hatred and raised his arms into battle position;
Aang took his cue to do the same. Within moments, the two were fighting while
Katara and Sokka just looked at eachother.
“I don’t want to fight you,” Katara said.
“I have to, and perhaps I want to Katara. I always thought for the past two
years that I couldn’t do it if the occasion were to come up, but today while I
was talking with Suki, she made me realize something. The past two years of my
life were the best I ever had, and none of the people I used to care about were
there. I liked you, Aang, Suki, everybody, and if the circumstances were
different, I wouldn’t even think of killing one of you, but this is the way it
turned out Katara,” Sokka said and raised his arms, his right hand holding his
trusty boomerang.
“Sokka…” Katara whispered but raised her arms hesitantly as the two began to
fight. Katara “water whipped” Sokka and he fell to the ground painfully. He
groaned as he tried to get up but Katara put her foot over his chest. As she was
about to deal a final blow, her foot raised.
“I can’t do it,” she whispered and stepped off of her brother. Sokka stood up
and looked at his sister. A teardrop left her eye, followed by many more. Sokka
looked hesitant for a moment but then walked over to her as he reached into his
pocket and pulled out the necklace that belonged to their mother.
“Katara, take this,” he said and handed the necklace to her. Katara looked at
it, obviously shocked.
“Sokka, how did you…” she began.
“Zuko gave it to me, I think you should have it back Katara,” he said and put
the necklace on her. Katara put her hand over the pendant and twirled it in her
fingers. Sokka took a step back and leaned down towards where he dropped his
boomerang.
Katara smiled lightly before she let out a choked gasp. She looked down to see a
bit of light blue covered by blood coming out of her stomach. She put her hand
to her back and pulled out the object.
“Sokka…” she whispered as he turned to her brother. Her eyes watered again as
she looked at her brother. She looked at the object and realized it was his
boomerang. She sobbed and dropped the boomerang.
“Goodbye brother,” she said lowly.
“Rest in Peace… sister,” Sokka whispered as her body fell to the ground. Aang
looked in their direction enough to see Katara’s body fall. He stopped fighting
and ran over to her and cradled her body in his arms.
“Katara! Come on, wake up!” Aang said and put his hand over her left chest (to
check her heart, don’t get perverted in death scene peeps). No beat. Aang
breathed heavily as his eyes and arrows began to glow lightly, soon glowing much
stronger as he floated into the air. His gaze turned to Sokka as he held his
arms forward and a ball of fire began to form.
“This is for Katara,” he said in a deeper voice then he had normally. Zuko
watched in horror and tried to run for Sokka and protect him, but by the time he
got there, Sokka had been hit with the blast.
“Zuko…” Sokka said hoarsely. Aang was deglowing (AN/ you know what I mean) and
floating back down to the ground to return to Katara.
“Sokka, hang in there, we’re in the Fire Nation, our medical team will certainly
be able to cure you, burns happen all the time here,” Zuko said, his eyes began
to water though, he knew deep down inside Sokka wouldn’t last.
Sokka lifted his hand and ran it over Zuko’s face; all the tears came into his
hand in a small ball that he held towards his heart. Sokka lifted his head
lightly and kissed Zuko, using the last ounce of strength in him to make it just
as good as their first. (AN/ if you haven’t done so, read Admiration, the
prequel to this)
“Good Luck Zuko,” Sokka said as his eyes closed and he went limp in Zuko’s arms.
Zuko felt on the verge of crying, but he had the lack of tears as they were in
Sokka’s hand. Zuko only knew three emotions: sorrow, rage, and bliss. Bliss was
out of the question. Sorrow was what he was trying to express, but couldn’t… and
he had A LOT of pent up sorrow, so the only other emotion he could put it in
was…
Rage.
(End)
Iras: SOKKA! (cries)
Dracken: What about Katara?
Iras: She deserved it… SOKKA! (cries)
Dracken: Don’t worry, I am not leaving off here, my conscience wouldn’t let me,
so next chapter is last one and it will be up SOONER then possible.
