Chapter One
When Night Falls
The night was her world. Those who walk in daylight didn't see her or know of her
existance. Daggerlay in the foliage under the newly budding azalea bushes. Her bow and
quiver of arrows lay on the ground beside her and the blades to her daggers' cold steel
blades were pressing firmly against her skin.A young couple walked by her hiding place,
wrapped so tightly in one another's embrace that she was very sure that they didn't know
that anyone else in the world existed. She growled lowlying her throat at the sight of
such emotion.
The man had long black hair tied back into a fashionable queue. He wore a long
sleeved black tunic, tan doe skinned pants, and shiny brown boots. His female partner had
long brown hair that was curled into dozens of tiny twirling locks with pearls strung into
it. Her gown was made from the finest of Helica's imported silk, died the deepest purple
that Dagger had ever seen, and her high-heeled shoes had a ruby placed in the strap around
the top of her foot.
(They belong togerther.) Dagger thought bitterly.
Dagger moved into a crouching position and picked up her bow, swung the quiver over
her shoulder, and silently moved up behind the young couple. Her bare feet made no noise as
she made her way after them. The dark clothing she wore keep her from sight as she crept
though the shadows. As the young couple put more distance between themselves and their
secret stalker, Dagger notched two arrows to her bow and let them fly.
A faint thunk noise let Dagger know that her arrows had hit. She flung the bow over
her shoulder and ran silently towards the prey she had spent half of her night hunting.
Dagger stopped beside the corpses and watched the crimson blood ooze from the arrow wounds.
She bent down and puled the arrows of her quarry. Out of the brush came a large white tiger.
"Found them did you?" he asked.
Dagger nodded. "Why did you follow, Kavin?" she demanded.
Kavin sat back on his haunched, looked at the young woman before him, and let his
huge tongue loll out of his open mouth. The large white tiger's blue eyes stayed locked with
Dagger's platinum colored eyes. He bent his head down close to the corplses and sniffed
the fresh kill. Dagger shoved the used arrows into the quiver, arrowhead up. Kavin clamped
his glistening white fangs onto the woman's gown and tore the fabric away from the lovely
thing.
"Meet me back at the palace." he said, his voice muffled because of the scrap of
cloth of his mouth.
"Fine, Kavin." Dagger said. "Just bring that to the fucking king before he has a
heart attack."
The large tiger roared lowly and took off into the brush. Dagger watched his muscles
bunch and release as he ran to the West. The young woman bent down before the young man's
body, moved his fancy black tunic aside and pulled the amulet around his neck away. It was
the Royal crest. She shoved it into her pocket and headed into the pouch hanging at her
side.

The arrow wound in his chest burned like fire when he sat up, but he managed it.
Prince Daedryk sat beside his lady. There was no denying that she was dead and he knew
just where to find the woman had killed the woman he loved. Daedryk climbed to his feet
made his way back to the palace. His home.
