One Day

If I only had one day,

To tell you how I feel,

I would let you know all the things,

That tell me this is real.

I would give to you my heart,

If it would help you see,

That cradled in your arms,

Is where I ought to be.

If I only had a day,

To make you realize,

Just what you mean to me,

I would look you in the eyes,

And say, from my soul,

“I just thought you should know,

That I need you here,

And I don't want you to go.”

But if, in the end,

I still come out alone,

At least I can say I tried,

And I made sure you know.

I hope you always know,

How much I didn't say,

I'd tell you, but there's no more time.

I only had one day.
