Salty tears

In shades of blue.

I can't believe

I'm crying over you.

This isn't right.

You're not worth the pain.

But my heart is breaking,

All the same.

So I'm writing this poem

In hopes that you'll see,

That behind this bruised heart,

Is the same old me.

I may be unhappy,

And perhaps feel betrayed.

But I'll be just fine,

Behind this wall that I've made.

It'll keep out the monsters,

And I know this sounds cruel,

But I'm also grateful

That it'll keep out you.
