Dreams and nightmares can be one in the same. Elise could feel the fear, disgust, betrayal, hatred, and finally sorrow and loneliness coming off of Count Makraim. She decided to try something with her powers she had never done. Elise sat next to Makraim's sleeping form. She closed her eyes and concentrated on trying to reach his thoughts. After a while she opened her eyes and sighed in frustration. She could only read minds when she could see into the person's eyes. “How frustrating! I am useless being only half mystic.” she thought out loud. Slowly, feeling defeated and tired from trying to use her powers, Elise went to bed.
Count Makraim woke with a start. He had been dreaming of the night Queen Eri was almost killed by his wife Tiaree. He hadn't had dreams about her in years. Elise had stirred up lost feelings and memories and he wasn't sure he liked it. Her powers were odd. Her Aunt Mayee said she cold do more. What was this beauty capable of? He knew she could capture anyone's attention with her mesmerizing voice and her grace was unmatched. But her power was a mystery. She was something more than a mystic. She could read minds, separate her being, she was dangerous. He looked over to the two sleeping forms of the girls. Matsey looked peaceful and at ease. Elise was beautiful even in sleep. Count Makraim had to tear his eyes away from her. Deciding not to wake the girls, Count Makraim left the room as quietly as possible. He decided he would find Aunt Mayee and question her about her niece. He was wondering the halls hopelessly lost when Aunt Mayee found him.
“Good morning Count. Lost are we?” her voice broke into the silence.
“Yes. I was trying to find you Lady Mayee. I have questions that need to be answered.”
“We do not have to be so formal. Mayee will be fine. You come asking about Earok. Well you see, she is a mystery to even me. She has a power within her even I do not know. It is locked up and I would hate to see it brought out untamed. You saw last night she can alter her appearance. She can also heal wounds. Wounds too deep to even see. She can connect to one's soul. When in danger she could even bring out a battle angel of sorts. Her mother was very special. As Earok told you, she had grace and beauty unlike that of the sirens. THey had thought she wasn't one of them which spared her life. I do not know what she was though. She was a child born to sirens but unlike any ever known. Her power was never unleashed.”
Suddenly Mayee turned her eyes onto Count Makraim reading his reaction. Before he could say anything, she spoke again “She is no danger to you. But you must keep her from this Sir Garot. She fears him above all. And her fears are never wrong.”
“I will do all in my power Mayee.” he replied.
“Ah! You are a confused man. She is not for you!”
At this statement she left him.
Count Makraim decided he needed fresh air. He would find his way out back to the gardens.
