NOTE: I know I made some mistakes here and in the last chapter....I was so tired when I was writing! Well I hope you enjoy it anyway!
Mayee stood for the first time. She was tall and held herself nobly. She gathered them and lead the way to the dining room. This room was lit by three giant hanging candelabras. In the middle of the room was a long table made of pine. I could seat 100 people easily. There were fine plates and goblets on the table of silver. They sat and ate dinner in silence. When the plates were cleared Mayee stood and beckoned everyone to follow her. She left them outside to a beautiful garden. Elise sat herself by a tree with large white and pink flowers. Makraim and Matsey took seats near her and Mayee sat directly to Elise's right. Elise closed her eyes. After a few minutes she opened them and the sight made matsey jump and Makraim to shiver. Elise's eyes were a bright white, her skin glowed with a purple light, and her hair blew in an invisible wind. She put her hands out in front of her and made some sort of sign. Then she opened her mouth an began to speak.
“My mother was from an ancient line of sirens and my father from an ancient line of mystics. I was born sixteen years ago was a perfect blend of both. My mother's family were hunted down and killed leaving her orphaned at a marrying age. A man named Redoc offered to take her in as his own and marry her off. He had no idea of her ancient mythical blood. Redoc did however know of my father's mystic blood. He figured if she married my father she would be safe at least. After they were married my mother told my father of her blood. She had no gift of song though so her family though her not a sired. My father however had the power of mind reading, should searching, and time telling. When I was born they knew I was a mix of both world's and they did everything to keep me safe. I had the fight of song, hypnotizing sight, mind reading, soul searching, and something much more powerful and dangerous. So powerful that even today it is kept hidden. I was given the name Earok by my mother. My father began calling me Elise after her death. He never got to answer why though I can change forms when my power requires it to. I am a magical being of enough power to change the course of life and death. This is my other form.” After this shortened story, she closed her eyes again and her features returned to normal. She opened her eyes again and focused on Count Makraim and Matsey. She waited for them to ask ht questions she could read on their faces.
Matsey was the first to recover “Elise! I mean Earok!”
“Elise is fine.”
“Why was your mother's family hunted?”
“Ah this only my aunt knows. mayee would you indulge them?”
“People want power. They feared anyone who could have any power over them especially their minds. Unlike what is told in mythology, sirens are male and female and can hold any form they choose. Earok is only half so she cannot change form at will. Her mother favored her human form though. Since there was no gift of mind controlling song from her mother, she was spared.”
Count makraim was the next to speak “Are there any more sirens or mystics?”
“Yes, although I cannot tell you who. They know not who they are” replied mayee.
There was silence now. Mayee stood to leave “It is late. I must leave you now and sleep. Do not think ill of Earok. She did not intentionally deceive you.” With that said she left to go inside. The three remaining sat in silence staring at the ground. Matsey broke the silence “I still look to you as a sister. I would never think ill of you Elise.”
Elise looked up to Matsey and let tears fall. Matsey thought this was weird. She was a mind reader. Didn't she know this already? Count makraim looked like he was thinking the same thing because he now looked at Elise with a bewildered look. Elise looked at both of them in the eye and explained “Ia am only half mystic and half sire. I can only read thoughts by looking straight into your eyes.” She then turned to Count makraim and simply said “Your secret is safe for now. But you must open up before all is lost!”
Matsey was confused. Hadn't he said everything to them last night? She looked over at him and noticed him looking intently at Elise. Suddenly Matsey felt a pang of jealousy and a sense that she was intruding on a private moment. Before she could make a move to leave Elise spoke. “We should sleep. We need to leave in the next few days for King Bilmarath's castle. I do not know what awaits us there. “She got up and grabbed matsey. She motioned for Count Makraim to follow them. “We all sleep in the same room tonight. Follow me.' She took them up a winding staircase and through winding halls until she stopped at a double door entry way. She opened the doors to reveal a beautiful room. There was a king sized bed with silk sheets and a black futon on one side of the room. On another side there were shelves of books flanking a big marble fireplace. In the middle of the room was a spring bubbling quietly. Elise sat on the floor next to the spring and played with the water absent mindedly. Matsey sat on the opposite side of Elise and held a faraway look. Count Makraim sat in a chair by the fire and looked at the two girls. “Elise, you are far away. What plagues your mind?”
“My childhood, and my dreams. I came here often as a child to learn to control myself. They had to learn the extent of my power. So I did mystic training with my aunt and my mother tested my transformation and grace. My father also insisted I learn to fight with weapons to protect myself. He seemed to know he would be gone before I was safe.”
“You went through so much. How can you not keep Sir Garot from you?” Matsey finally voiced what she had been wondering since she found out about her friend's power.
Elise had a dark look on her face “I have not been able to answer that myself. I have never met anyone who could put a far and loathing in my like he can. I find myself powerless around him. When I said this to my father after his first visit to my house, he looked me straight in the eye and said Sir Garot was a thing to be feared. I still have no idea what that means. Oh I'm too tired for more questions. Let's go to sleep for the night?” She and matsey took the bed and fell asleep right away. Count Makraim took the futon and dreamed of his wife for the fist time in fourteen years. She plagued his dreams as well as his nightmares for the rest of the night.
