Fan Fiction ❯ Days of the Week ❯ Monday ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

It all started on Monday. My friend Lisle and I were walking down the hallways of the high school, just chatting and lingering in the hallways before the bell to signify that class has started rang. He was heading to Science while I Social Studies.

"So, asked her yet?" I wondered.

Lisle sighed. "No, not yet."

"Why not!? If you don't hurry, she'll be taken by the time of the dance!"

"I know, I know. I'm just afraid."

"She's in my class now. Want me to ask her?"

"Would you please!?"

I patted Lisle on the back. "Of course man." I smiled and stuck out my tongue. "Aww, Lisle is so shy."

He reached for my tongue as I pulled it back in my mouth.

"Too slow!" I waved and rushed for my class. He yelled "Bye!" and rushed to class.

There she was… Karina. She was sitting at her desk, writing in her assignment notebook as I walked up to her. I said her name and she looked up at me with that smile.

"Yea?"

I cleared my throat as I thought, I can't believe I'm doing this for Lisle.

"Can Lisle take you to the dance?"

She stared in shock at me for a moment. Then I heard a "hmm…" coming from her. Finally, she said, "I'll tell you after class."

"Why don't you tell him? You'll see him anyway."

Karina shrugged. "Might as well."

I patted her on the back. "Good girl," I teased and walked to my seat, smiling. She laughed and went back to writing in her assignment

notebook.

Lunch. I sat with the people I sat with since 5th grade: Lexi, Samantha, Katie, Lisa, and Jen.

"I asked out Karina for Lisle during Social Studies today."

"And!?" Lisa and Katie leaned in to my face, waiting for the gossip.

"She said, `I'll tell him after class'."

"Don't ya hate those indefinite answers?" Lexi asked.

"Yea, they burn my brain cells." I took a bite of my cheese sandwich.

"You think she will?" Lisa asked, leaning back again to eat her food.

"Probably not, you know how Lisle is; it's like he's got a shield that reflects girls away from him…except for one girl." I smirked at Lisa as she turned red with anger.

"I DON'T LIKE HIM!"

"I'm sure you don't," Katie said as she looked at me, containing her laughter.

I was doing the same.

Lisa hit me and Katie on the arm. "Shut up." she scoffed and rolled her eyes. She stabbed her chicken with her fork.

"She said yes!"

Lisle and I walked home from school that day. The sun shone on Lisle's head and my hat.

"Really?! I told you she would."

"I feel so happy!" He jumped into the air.

"Lisle! Stop embarrassing me." I hid under my hat.

"I'm sorry, I'm just so excited about this. You have a date yet?"

I froze. "No." A single tear rolled down my cheek.

"You okay?" Lisle gave me a thoughtful look as he waved his hand in front of my face. I snapped back to reality.

"Yea, I'm fine." I looked at my watch. "Listen, I have to get home ASAP. I'll see you tomorrow." I started to run as far as I could away from Lisle, not noticing my hat flying off my head and onto the ground. Lisle started to chase me, but stopped in front of my hat.

He leaned down, picked it up, and stared at it in his hands. Then he looked up at me rushing down the autumn filled street of Elm.
