Part1
Terrain had just finished today's training with one of the mercenaries. As a reward for learning all of his lessens the old mercenary gave him a few coins to get something special from town. After washing the dust off his body and changing into a pair of black pants and tying off his long hair with a tie he left for town.
He had always known his looks were different from others. Most people he saw were either a blond or a brunette. However, his hair, reaching all the way to his thighs, even in the daylight looked as dark as midnight. Some people had even mentioned seeing blue and red highlights when the light hit it just right. Even stranger then his dark hair was his eyes. The more poetic mercenaries compared his eyes to that of rubies so red were his eyes. Terrain on the other hand thought they were closer to the color of blood then rubies. He kept the thought to himself, since his occasionally morbid thoughts seemed to disturb his caretakers.
Once he reached the town, Terrain raced down the streets to get to the candy store. He weaved his way between the peasants leisurely walking down the street, his hair whipping out behind him like it had a mind of its own. He passed a dark alley as a huge hand shot out, grabbing him by the hair, and pulling him into the dark alley. Terrain's body hit the wall with a soft thud before sliding down to the ground. Shaking, Terrain looked up at his attacker and straight into cold black eyes. The man was huge, standing at least six feet tall with huge bulky arms and legs. His face was repulsive, a large crooked nose sat above large thick lips that barely covered the rotten protruding teeth of his attacker.
Terrain shied away from the large muscular arms that reached out to him. His attacker growled, a sound similar to a wild animal, before trying to grab Terrain again. Terrified, Terrain scrambled to his feet, his feet slipped on the mud caking the alley floor making him stumble. Just as he was righting himself a felt a large hand on his shoulder and was pulled backwards. His attacker held him with a stinging grip that brought tears to his eyes as his attacker continued to pull him backwards.
A cold fear settled in a pit in his stomach as large hands slid up his chest and down his back. Whimpering in fear, Terrain tried to pull free from the strong grip but his attacker just squeezed harder at Terrain's futile attempts to get free. The fear spread through the rest of his body as the hands slowly unbuttoned the buttons on his shirt. Eyes widening at what was about to happen, Terrain struggled harder to get free. A hard slap across his face caused his mind to reel and his vision to blacken at the edges. Satisfied that he had his victim at bay, his attacker continued to unbutton Terrain's shirt with one hand while the other hand groped Terrain's crotch.
Terrain's left cheek burned with pain from the slap. Suddenly, his fear evaporated, only to be replaced by a burning rage. He could feel the rage spreading through his body giving his limbs more strength to fight. It spread to his back and pooled there, gathering in energy until it felt like it would burst from his body.
Pain seared through his body as something deep inside him stretched for the first time. The hands pawing at his body suddenly disappeared. Opening his eyes, Terrain saw his would be attacker staring up at him with fear filled eyes.
He suddenly realized that he was looking down at his attacker instead of up. With the sudden realization his body froze up and he fell to the ground. Picking himself off the ground, Terrain looked at the appendages now attached to his back. The wings were bat-like with white boned tips at the end, covered in iridescent black scales that shone in red hues when the light hit them. They looked eerily beautiful but utterly terrifying at the same time.
Terrain turned his attention back to his would be attacker who hadn't moved an inch since he had fallen to the ground. The anger seized him again, but it felt more like it happened to someone else. He wasn't the one who flew at his attacker, picking him up by the throat and slamming him up against a wall. He wasn't the one who used the sharp spikes on his wings to slash the man apart before letting him slide to the ground.
The anger dissipated from his body, feeling cold Terrain wrapped his arms around himself.
Staring at the dead body before him in horror, Terrain slowly backed away thoughtlessly folding his wings close to his back. He couldn't believe what he had. How could he have killed someone, even if they had planned to rape him? Pulling his shirt together Terrain turned and ran out into the crowded street.
Dashing through the streets, people screamed in fear as Terrain passed them by. Clothes splattered in blood and black wings coming from his back he was a sight to behold. Terrain tried desperately to get out of the town but the townspeople in their fear tried to stop him. As one particularly bold man tried to grab a hold of him Terrain spread his wings, knocking people out of his way with their sheer size and took to the air.
With no practice or experience in flying, Terrain barely made it past the town before his wings grew weary and he had to land. Running the rest of the way to the mercenary camp, Terrain hoped that the mercenaries could help him.
