Flames and smoke licked at her robes, the acrid scent of the dark flames filled her lungs and stung her eyes. She was bound to a steak in the center of a black roaring bonfire, unable to call out for help for, this wasn't her element, this was Hell itself. The chanting grew louder as the people she worked so hard to protect called for the witch to die. As her descent into darkness began, a final scream ripped from her throat, "IIIIEEEE!!!!"

"No!" With a gasp and the flurry of scarlet and amber sheets, a sweat soaked girl with dark violet hair shot up from her bed, shaking madly everywhere on her body. Around her neck was a small tarnished silver choker with a matching cross. In the center of the cross was a sphere shaped ruby that had started to glow while she had been asleep. Her heart still beating like a trapped bird, the young woman walked to her shower and dressed for her school. Her mother looked at her, worry in her eyes, "Saisei dear, are you feeling alright? Perhaps you should stay home today." The violet haired girl shook her head and scooped up a pastry from the box, "No mother, I'll be fine. I have an important test today that I cannot afford to miss." Saisei explained before running out her door, barely managing to catch her bus in time.

An emerald eye peeked into the classroom, `There she is, whoa, Saisei?' He walked into the room, even though he was only a year ahead of her, he had special privileges because he was the Head Master's son, "Late again this morning hm Saisei-chan?" The girl had been lost in thought until that all too familiar voice broke into her mind. Blue-violet eyes flashing, Saisei stood up and glared at him, "I have nothing to say to you Yuuki, now leave me alone and don't bother me again!" Emerald eyes flared up as well, "That's Yuuki-sempai to you Saisei, I do command a certain amount of power around here." He stormed back out and stopped at the doorway, turning back to see the weary look on her face, `What's with you today Sai? You've never done anything like that before…is there a problem that you aren't saying?' The boy shook his head, crimson hair falling into his eyes as he walked to class, accidentally bumping into someone on his way out, "Sorry." The figure murmured before stopping at Saisei's locker, looking around before producing a long white envelope, "See you soon, Hiko…" The figure turned away as a security guard came up to him.

Saisei finally escaped her classes, ready to leave, `I blew it, I'll never get into Tokyo U with a score like that.' Her locker opened, as if being pitying to her horrible day, a white something fluttered to her feet and caught her eye, `If it's another prank from Yuuki, I swear…' She bent down and opened it, her eyes widening as a hand went to her mouth, `Who?! How?!' She stood in a hurry and gathered her bag, rushing out the doors and slamming shoulders with Yuuki, "Gomen ne!" The envelope containing the letter fell out, Yuuki's attention caught as he opened the letter and read silently.

"We've met before, in our past lives. I know you've had dreams of burning to death under a stormy night, that black fire has haunted you for a few months now hasn't it? I'll be waiting at the Midpoint Arcade for you if you want to know more. Look for me, I've got spiked hair and I wear the Juuban Academy uniform.

Yuuki paled, `Saisei?' He took off after her, hoping that this guy wouldn't hurt her or so the Gods help him, he'd be killed.

Saisei rushed to the arcade, looking frantically around before someone detached themselves from the crowd and walked towards her, the kanji for sea shining a brilliant blue on his forehead, "Welcome back Hiko-sama…."
