The Elf Girl
"Mommy, mommy!" a young girl yelled as she ran into a sort of kitchen. The room contained a beautiful table made of oak, a sink, and other assorted items.
"What is it Mishi?" a woman asked. She was about five feet six inches tall. Her hair was nearly white and reached her shoulders. Her eyes were a gentle sky blue.
"My doll's broken," Mishi said with a sniff. Her golden hair flowed down to her thighs and her ivory skin set off a slight glow. Her eyes were a deep blue color and she was a little shorter than Hiryu. Her mother sighed.
"Let me fix it," she said. She took the doll from Mishi's hands. The head had nearly fallen off of the body.
"Me hani, rasuta wei, HEAL!" Mishi's mom said quietly. A soft silver glow emitted from her hand and the doll slowly repaired itself.
"There, now go along and play," she said. Mishi grabbed the doll and started to run off, but her mom stopped her. "And don't forget, you have your first magic lesson today," she said.
"Yay!" Mishi cheered. She started singing and ran off. Her mom sighed and went back to her work.
"Joni!" Mishi called, waving to a girl about her age. She had shoulder length white hair that bounced with every step she took. He skin was very pale but her lips contrasted the tone nicely, being that they were a deep red.
"Mishi! Hi!" the girl called. Mishi ran up to her and the two ran off towards the park.
"Do you want to come over my house later?" Joni asked. Mishi often went over Joni's house, the twho had been friends for a long time.
"I can't, I have a magic leshon today," Mishi said as they ran.
"Magic?" Joni asked, surprised. Mishi nodded her head. The two girls reached the park and began playing on the swings.
"Do you want to learn magic?" Joni asked. She didn't think very highly of magic, as it was mainly used for destruction.
"Yeah, it'll be fun! And then I can fix my own dollies!" Mishi said. She whipped out her doll and smiled a huge smile.
"You're so funny," Joni said as she swung her little legs.
"Why?" Mishi asked, she could be a little dense at times. She looked at Joni and awaited her answer with a small smile.
"I don't know, you just are, your aura is cheery," Joni said.
"What's an auba?" Mishi asked. Joni giggled.
"You have a lot to learn Mishi," she said.
Mishi jumped off of the swing.
"Where are you going?" Joni asked.
"I'm gonna sing!" Mishi cried. She took a few steps until she was standing in the sunlight. She took a breath and began singing. The song had no real words, just a sweet melody. She let the notes flow out of her mouth smoothly and gently. After a few minutes she began to crescendo until she was at a pitch that was nearly impossible to reach. She finished several seconds later.
"Do you know what time it is?" she asked Joni.
"No, but that was a beautiful song," Joni whispered.
"Thanks, but I need to find out what time it is," Mishi said. She drew a circle on the ground and placed her hands a few inches above it. She whispered some words and slowly raised her arms, creating a black cylinder. The sun beamed down on it and three marks appeared.
"EEK! I have to get to my magic class!" she cried, "P. Gate!" A gold portal appeared and she stepped into it.
Joni looked on in awe. "She has no idea what magic is," she said in an exasperated tone.
"I'M HERE! I'M HERE!" Mishi yelled as she stepped out of the P. Gate. She was in a small hut. There were many herbs and potions scattered around the room. A small old woman stood in the back of the hut.
"Right on time, good job Mishi," she said in a mysterious voice. Mishi skipped over to the woman and bowed.
"Don't bow child," the woman said as she turned around. She had a kind face and her long white hair nearly ran to her feet. Her eyes were a piercing blue and only a few strands of her eyebrows remained. "Are you ready to begin your training?" she asked. Mishi nodded her head vigorously.
"It seems as though you already know a high level spell," the woman said.
"I do? What's your name anyway?" Mishi asked.
"You may call me Tsukai, and the P. Gate you just used is a high level Sasaeru, or Support spell," the old woman explained.
"Really? Cool, but I thought that high level spells needed incantations, and what else am I going to learn?" Mishi asked excitedly. She ran around the room looking at everything. Tsukai stood still, allowing Mishi to explore some of the materials that she would be using in her training.
There was a crash and Mishi yelped. Tsukai turned and watched her reaction. Mishi began crying.
"I'm sorry! I am! I didn't mean to break anything!" she said through sobs.
"It's okay child," Tsukai said. She walked over to Mishi and patted her head a few times. She held a hand out towards the broken tube.
"Restoration," she said. Small green sparkles flew down to the tube and it was restored as though it had never been broken, "Now, spells that have a letter in front of them, such as the P.Gate or F. Shield, don't have incantations."
"COOL!" Mishi cried. She ran over and inspected the glass.
"I've had to use that spell many times," Tsukai said with a chuckle.
"Why don't we start you off with that spell today?" she asked.
"Okay!" Mishi said cheerily.
"You can go now Mishi, you have much potential," Tsukai said after three hours of magic training. Mishi had learnt the basics of magic and several beginning level spells.
"Is that good?" she asked.
"Yes dear, I'll see you tomorrow three hours earlier, we're going to go a full six hour day tomorrow," Tsukai said.
"Okay, now lets end the class with a song!" Mishi cried. She created a microphone with one of the spells that she'd known since she was two. "Magic, magic, fun, fun, fun! Turn around and, whoop! You're done! Cantation, cantation, speak, speak, no chant! I love magic and this is my rant! YAY!" Mishi sang.
"Cantation is wrong, it's incantation, get it right or else I'll bite!" Tsukai finished the song.
"Lets see how this works," the man said. He walked over to a cabinet of sorts and pulled out five powders. He mixed them together with a strange fluid and dropped a rabbit and a porcupine into it. The two animals screamed and a bright flash of light filled the room. A sound of glass shattering could be heard and the light disappeared as quickly as it had come. Standing on the table was a cross between a rabbit and a porcupine. The animal had brown fur, rabbit ears and feet, but the rest of the body was similar to a porcupine.
"Finally, now I need two more intelligent creatures to test this on, I will be the one known who created chimeras! AHAHAHAHA!" the man cried.
"Weak," Kris said. He was holding a bag for Hiryu, who was kicking it.
"Shut up!" Hiryu cried.
"Weak, weak, weak," Kris taunted.
"Stop! You're mean!" Hiryu said. Kris continued chanting as Hiryu kicked the bag.
"THAT'S IT! YOU ARE SWO MEAN!" Hiryu yelled.
"You talk funny too!" Kris said with a laugh. Hiryu sneered and stepped back.
"BLAST KICK!" he yelled. He pivoted on his left leg and started to kick out with his right. His foot was suddenly surrounded with a bright red aura and he kicked Kris in the gut. The aura shot off from his foot and surrounded Kris before exploding, causing the room to be filled with gray smoke.
As the smoke cleared Kris could be seen lying on the ground. Hiryu was standing in a victory stance.
"VICTORY!" he cried happily.
"You scare me," Kris whispered.
"FIREBALL!" Hiryu yelled.
"I'd like to train him in magic and ki," Biru said.
"So young?" Renita asked.
"Yes, he has enormous potential," Biru said.
"Fine, when do you want to start his training?" Renita asked.
"How about an hour from now," Biru suggested. Renita took out a small book and fingered through it.
"Okay, you can have him until, lets see, ten," Renita said.
"That long?" Biru asked.
"Are you going to train him or not?" Renita asked.
"Fine but don't let him know he's getting special treatment," Biru said. Renita nodded her head and walked away.
"Hello Hiryu," Biru said as Hiryu walked into the dojo.
"HI! Where's everyone else?" Hiryu asked.
"They, er, couldn't make it tonight, so it's just going to be me and you," Biru said.
"Private lesson, private lesson, fun, fun, all to me!" Hiryu sang.
"Right, whatever, tonight I thought we could run over some special techniques. You've probably already learned some from your mother," Biru said.
"I learned this from my mommy," Hiryu said. He raised his arms into the air and chanted the incantation for a fireball. The fireball began forming above his head. It was a lot smaller than Renita's but still looked powerful. "GO!" he yelled. He pointed his finger at Biru and the fireball shot off towards him.
"HIRYU!" Biru yelled, "W. SHIELD!" A blue wall appeared in front of Biru and canceled out the fireball. "Don't do that again unless I say so!" Biru scolded. Hiryu sniffed.
"Sowy, I just wanted to show you what I knowed," he said in a quiet tone. Biru sighed.
"It's okay, you just have to be careful when you're working with magic," he said.
"This is magic?" Hiryu asked.
"Yeah, you'll be learning a lot of it, but you can never use it unless you absolutely have to," Biru said firmly.
"Okay, what am I going to learn first?" Hiryu asked.
"What's your favorite element?" Biru asked.
"What's an edememt?" Hiryu asked.
"Do you like wind, fire, water, or grass the best?" Biru asked in an exasperated tone.
"FIRE!" Hiryu immediately answered energetically.
"Then you'll learn some basic fire spells tonight," Biru said.
"Cool, lets get started!" Hiryu ordered.
"I thought I was the boss," Biru said.
"First we'll warm up with some meditation and ki techniques," Biru said. The two were sitting down in the dojo.
"Now," Biru said, "I want you to close your eyes, breathe in through nose and out of your mouth, but don't concentrate on it too much. Then clear your mind, focus EVERYTHING on creating a ball of pure energy."
Hiryu nodded his head determinedly and closed his eyes. He began breathing.
'Come on, you can do it,' Biru thought.
Hiryu continued breathing for another five minutes. After those five minutes a light, barely visible, blue aura started flashing around him.
"Good! Keep going!" Biru prodded.
"I-I can't, it's too...hard!" Hiryu gasped out.
"KEEP GOING!" Biru ordered fiercely. Hiryu squinted and began breathing harder and faster. He let out a piercing cry and a ball of red energy began to quickly swirl in his hands.
"Good! Open your eyes and see what you accomplished," Biru said. Hiryu opened his eyes and looked at the ball of energy. He gasped and an enormous smile formed on his face.
"COOL! Can I keep it?" he asked.
"Yes, whenever you want to see it just do this exercise," Biru said. Hiryu let the ball go back into him and he relaxed for a few minutes.
After doing the exercise for two hours Biru allowed him a drink of water. Hiryu was completely exhausted physically and mentally, but he could now call forth the energy in less than five seconds.
"How much more time do we have left?" Hiryu asked. He wiped his mouth off and stood in a ready stance.
"Two more hours," Biru said, searching for something.
"That's it? When's the next private wesson?" Hiryu asked, he sounded a little disappointed.
"You, want to go longer? And you want the next lesson?" Biru asked, surprised.
"Ob course!" Hiryu said.
"And you know you're getting special treatment?" Biru asked.
"Now I do since you just told me," Hiryu said. He started dancing around the room. Biru looked in disbelief at him.
'I've, been outsmarted by a six year old,' he said silently.
Hiryu whimpered as he crawled into his bed. The class had gotten much more intense when they started learning spells. Hiryu now had several small burns on him and several bruises.
"Are you okay?" Renita asked as she walked in with his father. Hiryu nodded his head tiredly and immediately fell asleep.
"I think the training is too much for him at this age," Renita said.
"No it's not, he's got to keep training. It's better to start them when they're young, and Biru would not make a mistake like this," Hiryu's father, Teian said.
"Are you sure?" Renita asked uncertainly.
"Of course I am, I'm always right," Teian said.
"Sure," Renita said.
"Mishi, you're going to have to go to the stream tomorrow," Mishi's mom said.
"Yay! I love the stream!" Mishi cried. She was lying in her bed; the covers tucked up to her chin.
"You're going to have to do it ten times in two hours," her mom said.
"So? I have my magic lesson after that," Mishi said in a tired voice. She yawned and fell asleep before her mom could say another word.
'She can get annoying,' her mom thought as she walked out of the room. She took one last glance at Mishi, who had an enormous smile on her face.
