Everything You Want
Chapter 17:
Dangerous Deceptions
Guilt is a terrible thing, as Bella was quickly discovering. The past couple of weeks had been complete hell, sneaking around behind Cole's back, meeting with Derrick in secret.
She knew she should just tell Cole, but now she was in so deep, she wasn't sure how to explain why she'd lied to him in the first place.
`I am such an idiot…'
“Bella? Hello? You there?”
Startled, Bella almost dropped the phone she forgot she was talking on. “Yeah, sorry Derrick. What were you saying?”
A chuckle was heard over the line. “A little distracted tonight, are we?”
“A little,” she laughed.
It was strange, despite the guilt of lying to Cole; Bella was actually really enjoying her and Derrick's new relationship. It was like he was a completely different person and he seemed genuinely interested in being her friend. It was nice to have someone to talk to that knew her so well.
At the beginning she was a little suspicious of Derrick, but after being around him for awhile, her mind had gradually been put at ease. She only wished she had the guts to share his miraculous transformation with Cole…
“You haven't told him about us yet, have you?” Derrick inquired softly at her extended silence.
Wincing as recrimination washed over her in painful waves, Bella mumbled, “No, and to top it off, whenever he asks where I've been after I've been out with you, I lie. I feel like such an evil bitch…”
“Why don't you just tell him, then? The longer you wait, the harder it's going to be, ya know?” Derrick pointed out reasonably.
Bella sighed. “I know, I know…”
“Well, you know you can always call me if you need someone to talk to, ok? I gotta get going. Michelle's on the other line. Talk to you later, Bell.”
After muttering a quick good-bye, Bella dropped the phone into her purse and slipped on a pair of flip flops lying haphazardly at the foot of her bed.
`You can do this, Bella. Just be honest and everything will be fine,' she desperately tried to convince herself as she made her way downstairs.
`You do realize that this situation is completely your fault, right?'
“Shut up, who asked you…?” Bella murmured to herself as she searched for her father's car keys.
“Having issues, Bell?” a husky, masculine voice asked softly from behind her. Spinning around, Bella encountered a solid wall of warm muscle. A shocked gasp escaping from her mouth, Bella backed up until her legs met the edge of the kitchen island.
“Holy shit, Cole! You scared the begeezus out of me!” Bella exclaimed as Cole closed the distance her nervous retreat had rendered and trapped her body within the confines of his arms and the counter.
Cole shrugged apathetically, and murmured, “Sorry,” as he dropped his mouth to nip at the skin of her neck. Shutting her eyes, Bella moaned softly as she ran her fingers up and down his tense arms.
“I was just leaving to come see you,” she mumbled as his merciless lips assaulted her skin, leaving her weak in the knees and clinging to his unyielding form.
She couldn't place why exactly, but he seemed different. Almost… distant, like his mind was elsewhere even though his body was very much there. His touch was almost possessive as he snaked one hand beneath her t-shirt to cup her breast.
Bella sucked in her breath as his hand gently kneaded at her sensitive mound, while his mouth and tongue continued their assault on her neck.
“Cole, are you-“
Knowing he would lose his temper if he answered the question he knew she was going to ask, Cole quickly captured her lips with his own. Nibbling at her bottom lip, Cole groaned and pulled her tightly against his overheated body as she returned his almost angry kiss.
`Am I ok? Is she kidding me? No, I'm not fucking ok. My girlfriend has been lying to me for the last two weeks and sneaking around with her ex boyfriend. I am the farthest thing from OK.'
Releasing all his rage and aggravation, Cole relentlessly plundered her soft mouth, leaving the very object of his frustration whimpering and quivering beneath his wandering hands.
Bella felt as though she was drowning in the heat and lust Cole was emanating from his very pores. His kiss was branding, leaving her both wanting more and sensing the need to escape before she burned up in the fire of his increasingly desperate barrage on her trembling body.
Pushing weakly at his chest, Bella finally managed to free her lips from his as they both panted heavily, neither meeting the other's eyes.
“Cole, what… What was that? Why…” Bella trailed off as she found an interesting spot on the floor to stare at while waiting for Cole's answer.
Pulling away from her abruptly, Cole turned and stalked through the door to the outside with a curt, “I gotta go.”
Shocked, Bella slumped against the cold marble behind her and stared unseeingly into the night Cole had just disappeared into. Nothing could've prepared her for that disturbing encounter. For as long as she'd known Cole, Bella had never seen him act so impersonal, so… cold.
Realization crashed down on her as she sank to the floor with a soft thud.
`He knows…'
“Derrick!” Bella called as she jogged through the empty halls of the school. Ever since her rendezvous with Cole yesterday, Bella had been a nervous wreck.
`Oh, God. I'm so stupid! He must hate me… How do I fix this?!' she wondered wildly to herself as she caught up with Derrick and fixed him with an anxious stare.
“What's up, Bell? You, alright?”
Bella shook her head vehemently. “No, I'm screwed. Cole knows that I've been lying to him. He came to my house last night and…”
Derrick frowned. “Did he tell you he knew?”
“No, but I could tell,” Bella insisted with a wince as memories of Cole's odd behavior fought their way to the front of her mind.
Derrick placed a comforting hand on her shoulder completely at odds with the disconcerting words that came from his mouth. “Guess you'll just have to break it off with him then, huh?”
Raising her confused eyes to his laughing ones, Bella moved away from his now heavy hand. “What?”
Derrick smirked wickedly and leaned into the row of lockers at his side. “You're so gullible, Bella. So innocent and trusting. It took little to no effort to get you to completely destroy the relationship you worked so hard to build up in a matter of weeks.”
Bella's eyes widened as she backed away in shock.
“I so enjoy toying with you and your little lap dog. I only wish I could be there to witness his face as you crush him with the news of your betrayal…” Derrick paused in his ruthless taunting to glance at something behind her. Taking a couple of long strides towards her, Derrick pulled Bella roughly into his arms as he whispered into the shell of her ear, “Oh goody, look who's here. Guess I will get to see…”
With that Derrick simultaneously spun them around and dropped his mouth to hers in a hard, cruel kiss. Struggling against his strong hold, Bella screamed into his mouth.
Releasing her just as quickly as he'd grabbed her, Derrick pushed Bella away and grinned arrogantly down at her flushed cheeks and heaving chest.
An angry growl brought them out of their staring contest as Bella turned guilty eyes to the figure standing a few feet away, fist clenched at his sides, barely contained rage flashing dangerously in his luminous emerald eyes.
“Cole…”

So, wanna hear something funny? I ran my mom's car into another car in Wal Mart's parking lot yesterday. Yeah. Not good. At least the damage wasn't bad, only a couple of scratches… Needless to say, I don't think I'm going to be driving for awhile. lol Anyway, hope you liked the chapter. quirkyslayer: Exactly what I was going for, glad you caught that. *winks* I actually checked your stuff out a while ago, when you first started reviewing me. I really enjoyed Love Bites and Lust Bites. I don't know if anyone's ever told you, but you're very good at describing things. I also starting reading your fic about the Sesshomaru and Kagome's “arrangement.” (I can't for the life of me remember the name, lol) Very interesting. Can't wait to see where you go with that. You're a very talented writer and, yes, a shameless pimp. :o) Just kidding, I just loved that you put that in your review. Oh, and your little comic thing, Dinner Time, HILARIOUS. I swear to God I laughed for like ten minutes straight. Keep up the good work! *hugz*
Amaria: Awesome, glad you liked them. :o) Thanks for your review!
