Chapter Two

Warning

About two hours later Roxanne and Violet woke up to the sound of the phone, they were hoping that who ever it was would just leave a message, but as soon as the answering machine would come on the person would hang up and call again, by the fifth time this happened Violet got irritated and answered the phone. It was the secretary from their old high school, she asked for a Roxanne Murdock.

"Roxanne, phone."

"Take a message!" Roxanne said not really caring whom it was.

"Is this important?" Violet asked in mid yawn.

"I have some items that were confiscated from Roxanne and Violet Murdock." The secretary told Violet.

"Ahh…yeah, this is Violet, items?" Violet asked trying to remember.

"Yeah, I was going through the old file box, and one of the drawers was labeled Murdock. There are quite a few items here." The secretary said confused and impressed at the same time.

"Okay, Roxanne is my sister, so, we'll be by in a few hours." Violet said rubbing her eyes.

"That'd be great." The secretary told her.

"Thanks."

"Um hmm, bye-bye." The secretary told her and hung up.

"Roxanne, you know all of our shit that was confiscated, well, they want us to come and pick it up." Violet said closing her eyes again.

"Oh…Good. Finally." Roxanne said jumping up and running up stairs. She came back down with a notebook.

"What's that?" Violet asked curiously opening one eye.

"My list." Roxanne answered cheerfully.

"What?" Violet said opening her eyes.

"My list of all of the stuff that they confiscated." Roxanne said opening the notebook.

"You kept a list?" Violet asked.

"Well, yeah. Didn't you?" Roxanne asked her sister smiling.

"No. I'm sane, unlike you. That shit didn't mean that much to me. What'd you think? That somebody would steal it?" Violet questioned Roxanne.

"Well, I know I would, so yeah. You are too trusting." Roxanne said shaking her head.

"My god." Violet said closing her eyes.

"What?" She asked.

"What time is it?" Violet groaned.

"Probably about eight." Roxanne said glancing at the clock. Violet groaned again.

"I need some coffee." Violet said getting up and going to the kitchen. The phone rang.

"Hello." Roxanne answered.

"Roxanne?" A voice answered.

"Uncle Lavender?" Roxanne asked immediately recognizing the voice.

"Hey. How are you?" He asked.

"Good, good." Roxanne answered.

"That's great, do you mind if I come over today? I'd like to see the house." Uncle Lavender asked.

"Yeah, sure." Roxanne answered.

"Is Violet there?" He asked.

"Yeah she's here." Roxanne said.

"I haven't seen you guys in a while." He said.

"Yeah. We really appreciate everything." Roxanne said. Violet came back into the living room with a hot cup of coffee.

"Who is it?" She asked Roxanne.

"A huh, okay, bye." Roxanne said hanging up the phone. "It was Uncle Lavender. He's coming by in a while." Roxanne finished.

"Umm. Fuck." Violet cursed burning her tong.

"Hey, remember to watch that around him." Roxanne said.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. We better start getting ready, he'll be here soon." Violet said setting down her coffee and going up stairs.

"Yeah." Roxanne said following her. They went up stairs took short showers, and got dressed.

"Violet, come here." Roxanne called from her room.

"What is it?" Violet asked walking into her sister's room.

"Can you do me a huge favor?" Roxanne asked Violet as she pulled he hair back into a ponytail.

"Hmm?" Violet asked.

"Get me a bottle of water. Please?" Roxanne said looking in the mirror and sprayed some hair spray in her hair.

"Sure." Violet said, turning around and walking out of her sister room. Roxanne was just walking down the stairs when she heard her sister.

"What?" Roxanne called stopping in the middle of the stairs.

"I think we have a problem." Violet called from the kitchen. Roxanne quickly went down the stairs and jogged into the kitchen to see what the problem was. She saw the man and started laughing.

"Yeah, looks like we do have a problem." Roxanne said.

"What should we do with him?" Violet asked Roxanne.

"Umm…. that's a good question, I guess we could dump him somewhere." Roxanne said shrugging.

"What about 6th street alley?" Violet suggested.

"Yeah…I guess that's our only choice." Roxanne agreed.

"I guess I could take him." Violet said.

"Okay, but hurry." Roxanne said. They untied him and carried him to the car. Violet got into the car and drove away. About ten minutes later Violet came home and found Roxanne in the living room, watching TV.

"Oh, so you send me out to do the dirty work, while you stay home, relax, and watch TV?" Violet asked sarcastically.

"Yeah…it's not my fault you volunteered." Roxanne said shrugging.

"Yeah, yeah, excuses, excuses." Violet said carrying the man outside. Roxanne had started filing her nails. Violet returned about five minutes later.

"So, did he wake up?" Roxanne asked.

"No. Is Uncle Lavender here?" Violet asked hoping that she hadn't missed him.

"No. I'm kind of hungry though. You?" Roxanne asked Violet thinking of pancakes smothered in strawberries.

"Yeah, a little." Violet said looking around for her coffee.

"As soon as Uncle Lavender gets here, I think we might go to Goody's."

"That sounds good…Roxanne, where's my coffee?" Violet said looking around the room.

"I think you left it in the kitchen." Roxanne said setting down the file and watching the weather on the TV. Violet got up and quickly walked out to the kitchen to find her coffee on the counter.

"We're supposed to get a big storm in by tomorrow." Roxanne called to Violet.

"Umm, good, we've been in need of some good rain." Violet said looking outside at the clear sky and doubting it. Uncle Lavender pulled up into the driveway. "He's here. Violet said setting down her coffee and going outside to greet him. He walked into the living room and looked around. "Here, I'll show you around." Violet said taking him into the kitchen. They had a large kitchen with crystal white walls, wooden floor, and stone counters; the dining room was a reasonable size, a beautiful crystal chandler sitting over the Rosewood table with glass inserts, there were two candles and a rose between them, upstairs was two master bedrooms (Roxanne and Violets rooms). The guest bedroom was quite immaculate, pearl white walls and wooden floors, the bed was placed at the garden window, the garden has roses of every color, and all sorts of other flowers, and plants, the green house was located at the far left side of the garden, there was ivy growing over the green house and swirling across the boards and down the grove of the house, inside the green house was a water fall from the ceiling into the pond, in the pond were several fish.

"So, ... do you like the house?" Violet asked with a look of hope, Lavender hadn't said much since he'd gotten there.

"It's roomy, plenty of space, the garden's nice, big kitchen, do you have a dog house?" Uncle Lavender said looking at the two puppies laying by the couch and reaching into his pocket.

"They stay inside at night." Roxanne said quickly looking up.

"Oh, it seems to be quite, have you had any problems, break-ins and such?" Lavender said with a look of doubt.

"No, are you kidding me, in this neighborhood?" Violet said knowing how overly protective their uncle is.

"How much was this...place?" Lavender said with a sudden interest.

"$996,000..."Roxanne said gritting her teeth.

"Reasonable. That's fairly cheap" Uncle Lavender said not really caring about the money. "Well girls, sorry to cut this short, but I really must get back to the lab. My experiments are waiting.

"Okay, well, thanks for coming over." Violet said a little sad to see him leave.

"Do you need any money?" He asked walking towards the door.

"No. I think we're fine.' Roxanne replied following him to the door.

"Just take care, and be…careful." He said at length. He then walked out to his car. Roxanne heard his car door shut and ran out to the car.

"Wait. What do you mean?" Roxanne asked stopping him.

"I just mean to be careful. Take things as they come, carefully." He said starting his car.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked getting frustrated.

"I cannot tell you what is to come for you or your sister, I'm not a fortune teller. I have a bad feeling that's all. G742 is moving closer. Be careful."

"Sector G742? What do you mean?" Roxanne asked tilting her head a little to the side in a confused manor.

"We'll speak no more of this now." He said then drove away.

"Roxanne, what is it?" Violet asked as Roxanne walked back inside.

"Nothing." Roxanne said sitting down. She had somewhat of a confused look.

"Well, it had to be something." Violet said knowing her sister was holding back.

"He didn't make any sense. He said G742 is moving closer, and he has a bad feeling. Whatever that's supposed to mean."

"Hmmm. Well, there's one way to find out." Violet said.

"The wonders of the internet." She replied walking over to the computer. In a few short minutes she had pulled up G742's wanted list.

"Wanted list? We haven't done anything in that sector, have we?" Violet asked.

"No. I haven't even been there. There has to be more to this." Roxanne said as she scrolled through the pictures.
