Fan Fiction ❯ Fallen Angels ❯ Jet's Secret ( Chapter 4 )
Chapter Four
Jet's Secret
"Jet!" Violet screamed as he fell to the ground A path of blood running down the side of his face from the place where he'd gotten shot in the head.
"Violet wake up." Roxanne said shaking her sister. Violet suddenly sat straight up, drenched in an all to familiar cold sweat, and panting. "Calm down. You must have been having a nightmare." Roxanne said soothingly.
"I'm fine." Violet said trying to control her breathing.
"All right. Well, it's nearly two in the afternoon, so, get up." Roxanne said then left Violets room. Violet got out of bed and closed her door shaking her head. It was the fifth time she'd had this dream, and it wasn't getting any easier on her. She thought that a nice warm shower may help, so she gathered her cloths for the day and walked out to the main bathroom, and her mind still on her dream, she walked into the bathroom to find it steamy. She froze half way through the door and looked up to see Jet through the clear shower enclosure.
"Hiya'." Jet said, a light pink spreading across his cheeks.
"Sorry!" Violet said then quickly backed out of the bathroom, and closed the door in front of her. She went down stairs, cloths still in hand and blushing furiously.
"S'wrong Violet?" Roxanne said as her sister rushed downstairs and into the kitchen. "Ahh, Vi, why are you carrying your cloths?" Roxanne asked curiously following her into the kitchen.
"Ohh, ahhh, well, you see, I was going to take a shower, and I kind of, ahh, walked in on Jet." Violet said filling a glass full of water, and downing it.
"Oh, is that all?" Roxanne asked smiling.
"Is that all? Is that all? I just saw my best buddy naked!" Violet said blushing even more.
"Well, you'll get over it. You can use my shower if you like." Roxanne said sipping her Carmel Frappachino.
"No thanks. I'm fine. Hey when'd you go to Starbucks?" Violet asked curiously.
"Just before I woke you." Roxanne said taking a sip.
"Well, you got me one didn't you?" Violet asked.
"Yeah, tis' in the fridge."
"Mocha?"
"Of course."
"Thanks." Violet said, then Jet walked down stairs towel drying his hair, and the blush imminently creped back into her cheeks when they made eye contact.
"You two are on a roll today." He said smirking.
"What do you mean, on a roll?" Violet asked curiously, Roxanne picked up her coffee and started drinking it, as a light blush rose to her cheeks.
"Both of you walking in on me in one day." Jet said clicking his tongue. "I'd almost think it was planned."
"What? And you said it was no big deal, huh?" Violet asked now smirking at Roxanne.
"Well, it isn't, and if he didn't want us to walk in then he should have had the door locked." She said abruptly.
"Yeah, that's right. You wanted us to walk in." Violet said trying to keep a straight face.
"Right." He said raising his eyebrows.
"Why don't we go down to the river today?" Roxanne asked eager to change the subject.
"Yeah, then we could try out my new jet skis." Jet said happily.
"Yeah, that'd be fun." Violet said enthusiastically.
"Right, why don't we start getting ready?" Roxanne asked.
"Right, ahhh, I'll meet you back here in about thirty minutes, okay?" Jet said as he put the towel over the chair on the back porch to dry.
"Right. See you then." Roxanne said going upstairs.
"Yeah, later." Violet said following Roxanne upstairs.
"Hey, Vi?" Jet said, as he was about to walk out the door, and saw the huge mess.
"What is it?" She asked leaning backwards a little bit so Jet came back into view.
"Want me to have Crystal come over and see about picking this up while we're gone?" Jet asked.
"Yeah, if she has time. If not, me and Rox can pick it up when we get home." Violet said easily.
"Will do." Jet said then walked out to his Viper and drove home. He came back thirty minutes later in his raised Dodge Ram, pulling his three jet skis on the trailer behind it. He hopped out and walked up to the house, and was about to knock on the door when there was a loud `thunk' from inside, followed by an angry growl. He stepped back, suddenly in a panic. He then opened the door to see Violet trapped in a pin by Rox. He sighed and stood in the doorway, and then after they carried on for about five minutes, not noticing him, he finally got irritated.
"Are we going to the river or not?"
"Oh, hi Jet." Violet said after her and Roxanne released each other.
"Been having fun?" He asked, calming down a little.
"Yeah, we got bored waiting for you, so, we decided to play pins." Violet replied smiling.
"So I see." Jet said.
"Well then, ready?" He asked.
"Yeah, Vi, you want to carry the bag?" Roxanne asked and walked out the door without waiting for a reply.
"How is it that I get stuck with the bag?" Violet asked.
"Here, I'll carry it then." Jet said, picked up the bag, and carried it out to the truck where Roxanne was waiting for Jet to unlock it.
"Oh, sorry, did I lock you out?" Jet asked mischievously.
"Yes you did. Now, open up." Roxanne replied.
"Shotgun." Violet suddenly called walking up to the truck.
"Fine with me." Roxanne said opening up the back door, and hopping in. Jet handed the bag to her, and got in the drivers seat.
"So, how far is the river from here again?" Violet asked after they had been driving for about thirty minutes.
"Only about an hour more." Jet informed her. Violet sighed then turned to see what her sister was doing, since she hadn't said anything the whole ride. Roxanne was lying down, curled up, asleep.
"That bitch." Violet said crossing her arms.
"Huh? What'd she do?" Jet asked.
"She fell asleep." Violet said pouting. They arrived at the river an hour later, and spent the rest of the day jet skiing. Roxanne pulled up to the dock, and tied the Jet Ski there. She walked back up to where the truck was parked, to get a bottle of water out of the cooler. She downed it, and then decided to walk around and dry off a little bit. Wanting to get out of the crowds, she walked down an alleyway, but stopped dead in her tracks when she heard a familiar voice call: "Hey baby!" Roxanne turned around and saw James, a guy she had dated in high school.
"What do you want James?" She asked, crossing her arms. He walked closer to her.
"I'm supposed to be meeting an old girlfriend up here to have some fun," He said then ran a finger up the side of her practically bare body, except for the black bikini that she was wearing. "I was thinking that we could hook up." He finished in a more seductive tone pulling her flesh against his well-toned body.
"Well James, you thought wrong." She said then pushed him off.
"Ahhh…come on baby. There's nothing wrong with having a little fun." He said grabbing her by her wrist. She tried to break out of his grip, but he only tightened it.
"Let go James. And don't kid yourself. I'm way out of your league." Roxanne said easily.
"No bitch. You're wrong. You're out of MY league." James said and made to slap her, but she ducked and punched him in the stomach. He stumbled backwards, and fell, pulling her down with him. He then rolled on top of her, holding her down with his weight.
"I knew you wanted me." He said; this pushed Roxanne over the edge. She kneed him three times as hard as she could in the groin, and pushed him off.
"What is it with men and not understanding the common English language?" Roxanne asked standing up and looking down at him, her eyes crimson. All of a sudden he whistled.
"Fool." She said and started to walk away. Six guys appeared in front of her.
"No. You're the fool." James said struggling to his feet.
"Excuse me?" Roxanne asked turning back to face him. As he slowly advanced towards her, the other guys started to close in around her. "What? You can't handle me yourself, so you're going to have your little groupies do it for you?" Roxanne asked with a little laugh. James suddenly lunged at her, but as she saw it coming, and leapt out of the way.
"Too slow." She taunted him.
"YOU BITCH!" James roared and lunged at her again, but this time with a switchblade, which cut her cheek, she quickly kicked his wrist, and the knife went flying. One of the groupies grabbed her from behind, and got elbowed; he fell to the ground clutching his side. James lunged for her once more, but she grabbed another groupie and shoved him into James, they toppled over each other and into the wall of a building. Another groupie tackled her, and she wrestled him into a headlock, but the other three groupies, pulled her off of him, and pinned her to the wall. One of them smashed her head into the wall, she saw stars explode in front of her eyes, and then everything went black.
"Rox, Rox, are you okay?" Jet asked as she started to come to.
"God my head hurts. Where are the bastards? I'll kill them!" She exclaimed sitting up.
"Don't worry, I took care of them." Jet Said gently.
"Gaaahhh. I feel like someone took a sledge hammer to my head." She said putting a hand to her head, as if to steady it.
"Here, take these." Violet said handing her two pills, she put them in her mouth, and then took a large gulp of water from the bottle Jet handed her.
"What time is it?" Roxanne asked lying back down.
"About eight. You've been out for almost two hours." Jet told her.
"Well, where are we?" She asked just realizing that she was in the truck.
"Almost home." Violet answered. Roxanne said nothing else during the ride home, but stayed silent, and recounted her actions that afternoon, and while doing so, noticed several of her flaws. When Jet pulled into his driveway, Roxanne hopped out without even waiting for the truck to come to a complete stop, and walked over to the door, and waited for Jet to come unlock the door. While she waited, a small breeze passed by, and she noticed something flutter against her thigh; she then realized that she was wearing Jet's shirt over her bikini, and her mood softened. Jet opened the door, then the alarm from inside started beeping.
"Here, I'll get it." Roxanne said and disabled the alarm.
"How do you know my code?" Jet asked.
"Jet, the question is: What doesn't she know." Violet said.
"Ahh, true. She knows everything else about me." Jet said with a shrug.
"And so do I." Violet informed him.
"I'm going to go and take a shower." Roxanne said and went upstairs. She went to her room, and grabbed her gi, then went into the bathroom, and turned on the water. She stripped, checked the water temperature, and stepped in. She once again recounted her actions. As the warm water washed over her body, she started noticing more cuts and bruises.
"How could I have let my self lose to them?" She asked herself bitterly. Then the thought occurred to her. What would have happened, if Jet hadn't come? She dwelled on this thought, the rest of her shower, and the more she thought about it, and the more it angered her. She decided to train, to help work out some of her anger. When she was done training, she was dead tired, and collapsed on her bed. Roxanne fell asleep and then woke up sometime later parched.
"Stupid Jet, how dare he save me. As if he thinks I couldn't have done it myself." She mumbled to her self as she walked down the stairs. She stopped when she heard Jet talking to someone in the entrance hall.
**It couldn't be anybody from the staff, they all would have returned home by now.** She thought looking at her watch seeing that it was 4:00 a.m. She decided to move closer to try and listen, she heard a voice somewhat like Jet's, and they were having an intense conversation:
"Have you had any run-ins with Majoran yet?"
"No, have you?"
"No but very close to one."
"Well what happened?"
"I had just checked out of a motel, it was raining so I had had my hood up, I was on my way out when he stopped me, he asked if I had seen you, me, or Jewel."
"Well what did you say?"
"What do you think I said? I don't think he believed me though."
"Well, if he don't know, than what are you worried about?"
"Jet, the rewards been raised to $52,000,000"
"Cardian, chill."
"Hi, Jet, who's this?" Roxanne asked walking into the living room.
"Roxanne, what are you doing up at this hour of the morning?" Jet asked wondering how much she had heard.
"I could ask you the same." She replied.
"This is my brother Cardian, he just came into town." Jet told her.
"Hi Cardian, I'm Roxanne." She said with a smile.
"Ah, hi." He said shyly. They stood there in silence for a minute staring at each other.
"Roxanne, you needed?" Jet asked getting impatient.
"Oh, just wanted to get a drink." Roxanne said still staring at Cardian.
"Last time I checked, the kitchen was in the opposite direction." Jet said somewhat sarcastically.
"Oh, really? I didn't know that! Thanks for informing me." Roxanne said sarcastically, crossed her arms, then turned and walked towards the kitchen, wondering who Majoran was and why Jet hadn't told her and Violet. He always told them every thing.
"Wow Jet, I didn't know you had a girlfriend," Cardian said in a somewhat surprised voice. "You didn't tell her anything, did you?" He asked in a more serious tone.
"She's not my girlfriend, and no I didn't tell her anything." Jet said rolling his eyes.
"Then she's free?" Cardian asked deviously.
"Why? My big brother wouldn't be interested, would he?" Jet asked teasingly.
"Maybe." Cardian said slyly.
"Well, yes she is free, but I have to warn you...she can be hard to handle." Jet said.
"I can decide that for myself." Cardian said defensively.
"I'm aware of that stupid." Jet said.
"Well, then, let's get some sleep, and we'll talk about things in the morning." Cardian said looking past Jet toward the kitchen.
"Right then, you can stay in the same room as you did last time." Jet said.
"Right, I think I'll get a glass of water before I go to bed. See you in the morning bro." Cardian said and headed towards the kitchen. Jet shook his head then went back upstairs.
The next day
Jet knocked on Roxanne's door.
"What do you want?" She asked opening the door, dressed in gi, and sweaty from her morning work out.
"Can I talk to you?" Jet asked.
"Talk away." She said moving out of the doorway, letting him in.
"Just wanted to tell you that Violet's up." He informed her.
"That's nice. Is that all you wanted?" She asked still mad at him.
"Well, I was also wondering what you think of Cardian." Jet Said simply.
"What?" Roxanne asked slightly taken aback.
"I feel kind of bad about yesterday, and I…"
"I don't need your pity," She said cutting him off. "So if that's what you came in here for, then you can leave." She told him turning around.
"God, why does everybody have to be so damn defensive? Look, I'm not here to pity you. I just thought you might want to know that he's interested." Jet said.
"I kind of gathered that last night." Roxanne said turning to face him again.
"Oh." Jet Said. "You talk much last night?" Jet asked.
"Maybe. Now if you're finished, you can go." Roxanne said her eyes flashing crimson again.
"I get the picture, I'll go." Jet said calmly.
"You can tell him that I'm `interested' as well. Now get out. I need to finish training." She said her patients gone.
"Alright, alright, I'm leaving." He said walking out the door and shutting it behind him.
About an hour later there was a knock at her door again.
"What?" She asked opening the door, her body slick with sweat.
"Ah, Jet said lunch is ready." Cardian told her, a light blush rising to her cheeks.
"Okay, tell him I'll be down after I take a shower." Roxanne said wiping her forehead with the back of her hand.
"Okay." Cardian said closing the door as he left. Ten minutes later Roxanne went back down stairs, and found Jet on the phone.
"Who was that?" She asked after he hung up.
"Caterer." He answered.
"Why do you need a caterer?" She asked.
"Because."
"Because why?" She asked knowing this would annoy him.
"Stop being so questioneral!"
"Jet, that's not even a word."
"Yes it is."
"What? In Jet's dictionary?"
"Yes."
"Well then, I guess you forgot to give me a copy."
"Yeah Jet, how come I didn't get a copy either?" Cardian asked sarcastically.
"That's not important, now to get back on the subject?" He asked getting irritated.
"What's the subject?" Violet asked walking into the room.
"Roxanne's being to nice, I think the bump on her head is effecting her judgment." Jet said knowing almost exactly how she'd react to this.
"I'll give you a bump on the head!" She said and made to knock him upside the head, but he ducked.
"There's my Roxanne, I was starting to get a little worried, you being so nice and all!" Jet exclaimed.
"Grrrrrrr. Shut up!" Roxanne yelled at Jet. Cardian smiled.
"Yep, diffidently back."
"Oh, shut up. Jet, just incase you've forgotten, today is Wednesday." Roxanne said reminded him.
"So, what's so great about Wednesday?" Jet asked closing his eyes.
"We spar on Wednesdays dumb ass." She told him.
"That's right." Violet said.
"Come on Rox, do we have to?" Jet asked.
"Yes we have to." She said firmly.
"Fine. Cardian, you're getting dragged along." Jet said.
"We haven't sparred in a long time Jet, this should be fun." Cardian said clearly up to the challenge.
"Fine Rox, let me go and changed." Jet said sighing.
"That's fine, meet me there." She said before walking towards the door.
"I'll go with you." Cardian said following her.
"Fine, but keep up. I like to fly fast. Err… you can fly, can't you?" She asked.
"Yeah." He answered.
"Good, because I wasn't going to carry you. Let's go." She said walking out the front door and lifting into the air. He followed suit. "Are you going to be around for awhile?" Roxanne asked.
"Yeah, more than likely." He replied.
"Then let me give you a few tips." She said flying higher.
"Sure."
"Never fly in the city. The people freak out. The cops here are crooked jack Asses. I've broken out of jail who knows how many times; they won't bother to track you down, unless they find it personal in some way." She said decreasing her speed a bit.
"You've broken out? They must not have high security." Cardian said.
"The security isn't the problem. They just always put me in the same cell, so I've been able to create a little tunnel. Leads straight to your brothers house." She said with a slight smile.
"Damn. How many times have you been in jail?" Cardian asked.
"Lost count a long time ago." She said with a small laugh as she landed in a clearing. A short time later Jet and Violet landed in the clearing to find that Roxanne and Cardian had already started sparring. They sparred all day, and well into the night.
******
"Get up twit!" Are the words Violet woke up to the next morning.
"What do you want Roxanne?" Violet said rolling over and putting the pillow over her head.
"Get up!" Roxanne demanded.
"It's still dark!" Violet complained.
"Violet, it's three o' clock in the afternoon, now get up." Roxanne demanded again opening the curtains, letting the light in.
"Then why is it still dark?" Violet asked.
"Because you have the blankets over your head." Roxanne said leaning against the wall.
"Just leave me alone and let me sleep!" Violet said grouchily, pulling the blankets tighter over her head.
"Get up, right now, before I punch you." Roxanne warned Violet. After a moment Violet didn't get up so Roxanne pulled all of the pillows and blankets off of Violet's bed.
"Yeah, whatever." Violet said curling up into a ball and falling back asleep. About a second later Roxanne punched Violet right in the face; giving her a bloody nose.
"Ah, you bitch." Violet said as she jumped out of bed, tackling Roxanne to the floor.
"You re-split my lip, you stupid Baka Yaro!" Roxanne said as she wiped the blood from her lip, Violet was just getting up as Roxanne tripped her. Violet stumbled over the nightstand, bumped into the computer, and knocked it off the desk.
"What was that?" Cardian asked hearing the computer hit the floor.
"Roxanne and Violet are probably fighting...again." Jet said setting his coffee down on the kitchen counter.
"Cool, I want to see them fight." Cardian said as he jumped to his feet and ran up stairs, Jet followed. Roxanne and Violet were currently strangling each other.
"GO ROXANNE!" Cardian said jumping out of the way as Violet got slammed into the wall.
"GO VIOLET, KICK HER ASS!" Jet said dodging a stray punch.
"You do know Roxanne will win right?"
"Actually Violet's going to win."
"You sound like you're in the mood for a brawl, for old times sake?" Cardian said challenging Jet.
"Sure, why not? The room's going to get thrashed anyways." Jet said in an uneven voice.
"What cha' waiting for?" Jet said with a small smirk.
"You!" Cardian replied right before tackling Jet to the floor.
"God, Jet, I never realized you pull hair just like a three year old, you're going to pay if you messed it up!"
"YEAH PERFECT COUPLE, ROXANNE AND YOU." Jet suddenly shouted
"SHUT UP, YOU IDIOT!" Cardian yelled at Jet.
"TWO LITTLE LOVERS..." Jet continued.
"Shut up!" Cardian yelled putting Jet in a headlock.
"SITTING IN A TREE, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, FIRST, GET OFF, COMES LOVE, THEN COMES ROXANNE AND CARDIAN WITH..." Jet chocked out right before Cardian tightened his headlock, so that now Jet's face was turning a shade of pink.
"What?" Roxanne asked letting go of her sister who slid to the floor.
"Ah, nothing, nothing." Cardian said feeling his face turn red as he let go of Jet and stood up.
"No, What did Jet say?" Roxanne asked curiously.
"He only said, that we need to start to get ready." Cardian quickly lied.
"Oh." Roxanne said.
"We don't have any clean cloths, so we need to go back to the house to..." Violet said after regaining her breath.
"Crystal has taken care of it. I had her stop by your place and get some of your things. I also had her bring Ashura and Dante." Jet said dusting off his pants.
"Ah, well, ok, I guess..." Violet stammered.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll need to have a little talk with, Jet." Cardian said gritting his teeth as he glanced evilly at Jet.
"Ah, I think I have some, ah, business to attend to, ah, important business." Jet said quickly as he started for the door.
"Well Jet, that's quite rude, I mean he is your guest." Roxanne said with a look of vengeance. Jet stopped and turned to Violet for backup.
"For once I'll have to agree with my sister, sorry." Violet said shrugging.
"I need to pay the help!" Jet said trying to make an excuse.
"Well I'm sure they can wait five more minutes." Violet said shrugging.
"I don't have the time to argue with you right now Jet, so you'll do as I say and stay and talk to Cardian." Roxanne said as she and Violet left the room and closed the door. They started walking down the hallway and stopped when they heard a loud crashing noise coming from Violet's room.
"I wonder if we sound like that." Violet said.
"Probably worse." Roxanne said with a shrug as she entered her room.
"Yeah." Violet said continuing to down the hallway and downstairs into the living room. Two small puppies clumsily ran up to her.
