In Japan that is the place where fate would plot out a plan for me without my own knowledge. I grew up knowing the bottom would fall out and fate tortured my existence and when a short period of apathy crossed I wondered if a greater part of fear would incase my already broken heart. Memories of the past that I hoped to run away from clouded my judgment and the moon and its silver glow just increased the depressed feeling inside. I had hoped that by coming where I was now there could be a time of peace before the world went back into spin and everything began again, back to the direction it had taken, the way I strived to step off of.
On a trip to Japan, yes there on a night alone wondering the safe, calming alleys staring up at the silver moon that poured its light on my still form and silvery blond hair. I was in a feeling of the mistress of the night and wanderer of the living with my cobalt blue eyes that took in the darkening view of the slowing city. Everyone was so calm here that it was beyond amazing how much you could learn from the city here and a small wish of real change strayed across my mind.
Suddenly two muscular arms wrapped around my chest and pulled me into a muscular body and warm, soft breathing. I didn't move, somehow knowing in the back of my mind that this person was not here to hurt me.
"Beautiful angel, fallen from the heavens, reborn human the carrier of the ancient sais the earth calls for a savior." A deep velvety voice caressed my ear and I reached a hand back to touch his features and they were strong beautiful features.
At that moment, I pulled away and turned to him and was met with two golden eyes and wind blown long silver hair. He held my hand up and placed it on my heart where a warm glow emanated from and my fingers enclosed over a handle to pull out white metal sais with silvery blades. My eyes glazed over and my body let go and sent tumbling to the cold road but the silver haired man blurred stepped towards me.
When I finally woke up I was in a futon and against something. I turned over and his soft breathing face was right next to mine. Some how I wanted to kiss his forehead and watched his sleepy eyes open. "You're not scared of me a demon." "A...demon.." I whispered the words and thought long and hard ignoring his hand against my cheek. "You are comforting, even if I don't believe in miracles, or that I'm this goddess or angel person you're talking about." I smiled for some stranger, who was lying next to me in while I was in my pjs and...oh shit my hostile and all the girls were asleep. oh shit! I got up quickly, trying to find clothes watching the others to make sure that I wasn't waking them up to find a guy in my bed here at the place.
The clock on the wall read 9:00 and I knew the public bathrooms weren't open but I needed a shower anyway. The guy or demon was still lying on my bed watching my hurried movements "You might as well come I don't think the girls want to wake up to find you in my bed." He nodded and swiftly made his way to the door. I walked down the cool tiled floor and listened to the silence from the absence of people beginning their day already. I walked through the sliding glass doors and he followed along.
"No no no, you stay here, outside and no looking at ALL!" I pushed him out the door and watched as he leaned against the glass. I pulled off the towel and slipped into the hot pool and went under to let the water flow over me. With my eyes closed sounds invaded your thoughts and the movement of quickly moving feet echoed close by and I felt two hands pull you out of your relaxation.
The golden eyed guy handed me a towel and as soon as I had it tucked in he lifted me out of the water. He held me close as he shielded me from the breaking glass of a window and took off running down the street, glancing back expecting someone to come. Suddenly the people around us froze and something sharp grazed his jacket. I gazed up and in the sun was a winged creature who was diving straight at me, the creature had a sword poised to strike me down but something flew up and caught the attack.
I opened my eyes to see the sai gripped tightly in my sweating hand, the same white metal and polished blade. My eyes traveled up then to the creature who was to my surprise an…angel. The sai almost dropped from my hand but the guy pulled my hand down and set me on the ground. He pulled out some sort of hand gun and shot off a round of bullets, these bullets weren't metal but a dark material reminding me of pure darkness. It hit one in the wing and spread showing all the veins, as it spread throughout his body making the wing wither in excruciating pain and he screamed. His scream was high pitched and nerve racking, leaving my ear drums still ringing with pain and sorrow in my heart, even if he had tried to kill me death was not my favorite movie. I heard another one shot but in my mind I yelled out for it all to stop.
"No! Don't kill them; I don't want anyone to die!" An energy of power deep within my skin exploded out and blasted out at everything around me, the buildings crumbled, cars over turned and the people close by fell over. My mind was raging wild and the power of whom all these people were after erupted again and again, lashing out of control. I held my head in my hands and shook it murmuring about the smell of death so close. The power tore the towel to shreds, leaving my bare form to feel the cold breeze of the fight.
"Yumi!" Someone called out. I looked weakly to my left and saw him standing there trying to reach my shaking form. I threw out my right hand to him in hope for reassurance and he pulled my heavy body off the cold concrete ground of the cracked road. His arms held on tightly, the sleek leather and jean material caressing my now goose bumped skin. The power burst subsided and the angels were gone but the black shriveled one was strewn about and my ears still rang with his scream.
"You care so much for my safety and I don't even know your name." I said laying a hand on his cheek as a thank you, while my mind forgot the fact that I wasn't dressed.
"I am you humble servant given to by my lord, your lover the demon, I'm Caid." He responded going down on one knee and holding my hand in his firmly. Though at that moment I felt like blushing I refrained from it and lifted him up off the ground with a look of annoyance.
"My lover?" My confused look somewhat startled him and inside I could see it would be a while before I learned the truth behind this first attack on my life. He stood up and embraced me again close and I felt the comfort of him and memories that were tucked away in the back of thoughts and that as well comforted me.
"You don't have to bow, or be formal, just call me Yumi ok?" I explained, my face up against his chest to listen to his heart beats.
He shook it off and held me at a distance looking away. "We need to get you some clothes and get you back before they worry." He gathered me up again in his arms, the spell that had stopped everything around us started to fade away as soon as the hostile came into view as well as the police that were just getting to the scene. The window was open on the far end of the building so in a flash he set me down inside the cold building that was still eerily quiet; in my moment I turned to thank him but he was gone.
I ran quickly down the halls to my room, the girls were out from the fact that the room was empty. When I went to pull a shirt on I realized a leather jacket had been placed around my shoulders. I squeezed it around my shoulders and took in the smell of his skin. I dressed and put on the jacket hoping he would come back for it and me. My hand in one pocket rustled around and found a piece of paper folded but wrinkled. I unfolded it to find a message, address and a ticket to a mansion close to where I was going with my class. I held the note close to my heart but quickly folded it back up as the door opened. In came my friend Marissa dragging along with her Jason our other friend.
"See I told you she was ok, you worry wart." She told Jason poking him in the shoulder.
"Oh god Yumi we couldn't-" I hugged him and explained, "I was in the bathroom taking a shower." He hugged me back but it wasn't as comforting.
Kamakura was beautiful and getting to see the mounted archery was a blessing. Three started to grow closer and it was time for me to leave and I would have made it out if Jason hadn't followed and Marissa hadn't followed him. Now I had to explain where I was going to my two good friends, more or less lie.
"Hi I was going to the kimono shop down the way." I cheaply smiled.
"We should come along too." Marissa exclaimed dragging both of us down the road.
My watch beeped 3:30, I was expected by 4:30 and if I didn't leave now I wouldn't make the next train. I inched out the door and slipped along the side and started into a fast sprint. My feet pounded against the road and the people and cars flew by in a haze as my thoughts traveled to the ticket in my pocket. I sprinted up to the gate and crammed the ticket in as I raced again to catch the train.
I slumped down in the seat breathing hard and deep. Forty minutes later the train director called out my stop, so I collected my thoughts and purse. I stepped of the train and found outside the gate Caid holding up a sign with my name on it. I rushed with excitement through my veins as my arms hugged him tightly. He pushed me away too quickly for me to understand and bowed deeply.
"My lady grandness Yumi, his grandness awaits your presence in the car." I followed so confused and lost by his reaction to my gesture. Outside a black stretch limo awaited our return and the window was rolled down enough I could see slicked back black hair that gleamed from the lights of the city around. Caid opened the door and I slid into a dimly lit room and saw a business dressed young man.
Why so surprised, we were once in love Liana." He smiled but it was so cold with no feeling like Caid's. I turned away to look at a stern looking Caid staring out the window.
"I don't remember this so called past that you speak of." I spoke with annoyance since no one had even thought to explain anything to me at all.
"Well my dear you were once the most powerful angel in the heavens but during the war between the demons you fell in love with me, which was wrong back then so when they found out the council had us killed hoping the sais would choose an easier to control wielder for them but that didn't happen. The Sais stayed with you and reincarnated with your body, but the power didn't activate until now because the war has begun again and you are the only one to stop it." I contemplated what I just heard and saw an angry Caid his eyes piercing, the edge of his mouth twitching.
"Caid was there when it happened." The slick haired man said but with his cold smile as he lit up a cigarette. The car stopped in front of a large white manor with too perfect a set up, giving me a sense of death that wouldn't leave.
Slowly I slipped out of the car and felt someone take my hand, I looked up hoping it was Caid but "he" was there and the feeling of death increased.
