Frozen

Note: this whole story is based on the song `Frozen' by Madonna. I came up with this story while listening to the song. Originally, I had an idea for a Sora story for that song, but I decided to change it to a `help Riku get rid of the darkness in his heart' story. Well, enjoy! Yes, the evil villains in this story are all from some type of anime! Just as a record, I don't own any of them! Again, any name with () after them that isn't already a part of KH isn't mine, it's from a different anime.

Chapter One

Traverse Town

`Now there's no point in placing the blame//and you should know I suffer the same//if I lose you//my heart will be broken.'

-Frozen

Sora sighed as he exited the Accessory Shop. He had just given Sid some items to upgrade the Gummi before they were to head out again. In a few days, he, Donald, and Goofy would return to Hollow Bastion to get Riku, like King Mickey had instructed.

He rubbed his hands together as a sudden breeze blew passed him. He chanced a look up at the sky, and gasped, the cold suddenly forgotten. He saw a body, falling from the sky.

He ran to where he saw it falling, in the alley just around the corner from Cid's shop, where Sora, himself, had been found last year. However, he did not get to the body in time; the body had fallen, and landed, hard, in a large pile of wooden crates.

Sora quickly dug for the body, not thinking anything that this might be danger, or that it could be a trap or the like. However, when he uncovered that one piece of wood, he nearly thought his death had come early in the form of a heart attack.

"Riku…" he whispered.

It was Riku, though it was hard to tell. Riku's hair was no longer the silvery white it was, but stained with blood that still flowed freely from a gash that ran from the tip of his head to under his black cloak. Riku's eyes were both black and his right eye was bleeding slightly. His face was black and blue…On the whole, Riku looked like he just got his ass beat by fists and a long spiked whip.

He had to tell someone, for Sora couldn't lift Riku, even if he tried. Thankfully, however, they were close to the Accessory Shop.

"CID!" Sora yelled. He continued yelling until the older man ran into the alleyway.

"Sora," he breathed, catching his breath. "Who died?" He meant for it to be a joke, but by the look on Sora's face, he knew it was no joke. "Seriously, who died?"

"I sure hope he isn't dead," Sora said, motioning towards Riku.

Cid examined Riku, putting a cloth on the boy's forehead to slow the bleeding down. "He's still alive," he informed Sora. "However, just barely. We have to get him to my house."

Cid told Sora to hold the cloth on Riku's forehead while he carried the unconscious boy to his home. Sora couldn't keep his eyes off Riku as he was carried. He couldn't help but wonder what the hell happened to him. Sora didn't want to lose his best friend again, but he knew the chances were slim.

Riku's breathing was staggered, and his eyes began twitching, as if he were having a bad dream.

"Cid, he's moving."

"I know. We have to hurry."

They sped up their pace, Sora now having to pay attention to where they were going. It didn't help that on lookers were curious to see what they were carrying into Second District. Sora wished nothing more than to get out of First District, and soon, his prayers were answered.

They entered Second District, and quickly entered Cid's home before anymore on lookers appeared.

Kairi and Aeris were sitting at the small kitchen table as the door burst open. The two girls stared in horror as the unconscious boy was laid on the table.

"Kairi, get lots of bandages," Cid demanded. "Aeris, go get a bowl of water and a clean cloth."

The two girls did as they were told, no questions needed. If Cid told them to do something in that tone of voice, they knew it had to be serious.

Sora held the cloth on Riku's forehead, switching his hands as the first one was already drenched in blood. "The cloth isn't holding," he whispered.

The sound of water filling a bowl was heard, and the sound of Kairi opening and closing cabinets carried through the house, the same thought floating through the girls' minds. Who was that boy, what happened to him, and will he live?

Aeris gave Cid the new cloth and bowl of water as she stared at Riku. He looked at the verge of death, and she prayed silently that he would live.

Kairi came in just a few seconds later, holding as many bandages that she could carry. Aeris was always too cautious about hazardous things, and she kept at least two packets of bandages in every room. Cid mentally thanked Aeris for her over concern, as did the two others.

The three younger persons stood back and watched as Cid fussed over Riku, cleaning his wounds quickly, but not rushing. Sora offered to help, and Cid made him hold the cloth over Riku's head wound again.

Aeris stared at the boy on the table as she continued to pray. Kairi stared at the boy on the table, wondering who he was, knowing that he looked familiar, but she couldn't pin point it. At least, not until Sora spoke to the boy.

"Hang in there, Riku."

Kairi gasped. "Riku?" Sora looked up at her and nodded. She immediately felt faint, but she held on, not wanting to miss anything that may happen and she may be needed.

Cid was finished with the minor wounds on Riku five minutes later, and he moved to the big one. He let Sora wash his hands, for they were, again, covered in blood. He looked at the wound, and then at the three younger beings.

"You should go in the other room," he told them. He didn't want them to be exposed to the large opening in Riku's forehead. He worked on cleaning the head wound as Sora ushered the girls out, and shut the door to the kitchen.

Aeris sat on the floor, and continued to pray.

Kairi sat down on the couch, and Sora sat next to her. "What happened to him?" she asked.

Sora shrugged. "I found him in that alley next to Cid's shop. I'm sure he was already beat up pretty bad."

"Did you at once recognize him?" Kairi asked in a lower voice, not trusting to talk louder, and not wanting to disturb Aeris.

"It took me a few minutes, but I did." Sora lowered his voice as well.

They sat in stressed silence for another period of time, neither one keeping track. They all had their attention on Riku. Cid soon came into the room, cleaning his hands, a hard expression on his face. Only Kairi and Sora looked up at him.

"Sora, I need your help," Cid said, going back into the kitchen.

Kairi clutched the edge of the sofa as Sora got up and walked into the kitchen. He sighed as he looked at Riku, all bandaged up, still unconscious, on the kitchen table.

"Help me take him to the spare room that isn't occupied yet," Cid said, going towards Riku's head. "We have to watch this head wound. This is the only one that I think will need the most attention."

Sora nodded as he went to Riku's feet. They counted, and lifted him at the same time.

"Will he be okay?" Sora asked as they moved into the hall, avoiding the sitting room where Kairi and Aeris were.

Cid opened the door to the room, and, with a grunt, and nodded. "I don't think he's going to die. He is seriously injured; I'll have to call a doctor to get him checked out. Set him the bed gently."

Sora looked at Riku as he lay, sleeping, in the bed.

Cid put a hand on the boy's shoulder. "Clean up the table while I go get the doctor. Have the girls help you if you want."

Sora absentmindedly nodded. Cid pulled him out of the room. "I know I'm not a professional doctor, but right now, he needs to sleep."

Sora nodded again, and followed Cid back to the kitchen. He got a clean cloth, wet it, and began to clean the table. Cid opened the door that led to the outside.

"I'll be back soon. Don't bother him, but check on him if I'm not back in ten minutes. If anything happened, I know that Leon will do something. If he's still sleeping then, wake him up." With that, Cid left, and Sora mindlessly washed the table filled with blood and bloody cloths.

Sora kept his gaze down the hall, so he could keep an eye on the door that led to where Riku was put. If this happened to Riku, then something terrible must reside in Hollow Bastion. Riku was strong, and stubborn. He wouldn't let some minor thing like a new villain do this to him. However, there might be a new villain, and this new villain might be stronger than all the others Sora had already defeated.

Sora's blood boiled. He wanted so badly to go to King Mickey's kingdom to retrieve Donald and Goofy, and take them to Hollow Bastion where the three of them will destroy whatever did this to Riku. He didn't want to wait a few days until they came back, and he couldn't do it alone; and he didn't want to put Kairi in danger again. Leon and Yuffie might always want to help, but Sora wanted to do this with Donald and Goofy. He didn't know why, he just trusted them more.

He was thankful that Riku was alive…but will he wake up to be a hundred percent fine? Or did, whatever happened to him, change him in a way that he won't be able to be cured? Well, Sora knew he would get his revenge for doing to that to a friend, and Sora vowed to kill anything that had to do with heatless, and anything that resided in Hollow Bastion.
