Fan Fiction ❯ Hybrid Genesis -God Legacy Saga- ❯ Breaking Point ( Chapter 10 )
Breaking Point
Hi! *runs away as things are thrown in my general direction* Um... Did you miss me anyone?? .... *silence* Okay... I must confess. I really never was into video games all that much... But recently... Er... I got acquainted with them...? And I never realized that I had such an awful addiction problem...
Anyway, I hope I haven't been too far away from this story. Hopefully I can still actually you know... Write... Tell me what you think.

Chaos: Isn't downloading MP3's illegal now or something? Or wasn't it illegal a while ago... or--
Madi: Why would I care?
Chaos: Um...
Yumy: I'm not going to listen to that. There are millions of sites with MP3's, and they're never going to get them all. It's stupid anyway, so shut up and go write, slave!
Chaos: =( *walks away*

Stixx stared in shock, before narrowing his eyes and whirling to his master. He couldn't find his voice, so he turned back to the hybrid. Seks winked and sauntered forward. Stixx's body wanted to back away, but he forced himself to keep his ground. Seks purred and rubbed up against him. Stixx shoved Seks away, and Seks snarled softly.
"What the hell is this?!" Stixx growled, pushing Seks away again.
His `master' watched Seks in fascination, seeming very amused by the silver-haired hybrid's behavior. "Oh, don't you like it?"
"I don't want him as a partner!" Stixx floated into the air a little ways away from Seks.
Seks licked his lips and spread his wings. The masked stranger stood up, weaving a silky string between his fingers. He severed one of the thin cords and Seks fell awkwardly at his feet. "Oh Stixx. I thought you'd like a little present."
Stixx was furious. "Do you think I am that deprived, as to go after a brainwashed hybrid, who by the way, I despise?"
"Stixx. I know you like him; I didn't brainwash him... And anyway, isn't he beautiful?" the man murmured, running a finger over Seks' cheek. "You just have to know how to handle them." Seks purred and rubbed up against the man, reaching up to his pants. The man swatted Seks' fingers away and looked up at Stixx. "See?"
"I don't want a mindless slut for a partner, Caizer."
The man sighed. "Please don't call me that either Stixx."
Stixx ignored the request. "Would you want someone like that to be your partner?"
"I wouldn't mind." Caizer mused. "But... What would you prefer?"
Stixx smirked. "I'd prefer a wild one."
//Kill him.//
Chance sighed as he sat up in the middle of an empty street. "This is getting annoying." Chance muttered.
He looked at his wrist. Three numbers were written neatly on it in black ink. He sighed again and got to his feet. He limped over to a nearby phone booth. He cursed as he saw that he needed some coins. He shoved his hands in his pockets, pulling out some coins. He dialed a number and waited.
"Hello?" a female voice asked on the other end of the line.
"Hey, Loira? It's me Chance..."
"Oh Chance, are you alright?"
"I'm fine." Chance lied. "I need some transportation. Can you arrange something please?"
"Where are you right now?"
Chance glanced around, finally seeing a sign. "At... Guardian Link."
He heard Loira sigh. "That's really far away Chance. You know it will cost you."
Chance felt a coughing fit coming on and he forced himself to clear his throat a few times before attempting to speak again. "I know you're not a game character Loira... Can't you do something just for me please?"
Loira stared at the other workers around her. Some were real, but most of them were game characters. She sighed again. "You know you're going to have to work for it..."
"I know... But can you do it?" Chance asked, feeling like he was going to throw up.
"I'll see what I can do. Stay where you are and I'll have someone over there sooner or later." Loira said, hanging up before Chance had time to say anything else.
Chance sighed and hung up as well. He slid down the side of the telephone booth, coughing hard. Now all he had to do was wait.
//Can't breathe...//
Croix forced his way through the crowds of people. He cursed as he dropped the piece of paper he was holding. He bent down to retrieve it and almost got stepped on. He knew the game characters wouldn't step on him, but the other `real' people would. He managed to get the paper, and stuff it in his pocket. //There is a logical reason why I hate any kind of game. Role playing games included.// Croix thought after almost being shoved into a wall.
He managed to open a door to a store and slip inside. He was in a big and busy city called Polyra City, and the streets were so packed you could barely breathe. After catching his breath he looked around himself. He was in a restaurant. It looked expensive. A snooty looking waiter came up to him and stood there. Croix stared at him and the waiter cleared his throat a few times.
"... What...?" Croix finally asked.
"You must buy something here or leave. You cannot juststand there." the waiter said as if it were obvious.
"Oh... Well then I suppose I can get something."
"Do you have a reservation?"
"... No..."
"Right this way, sir." the waiter said boredly, muttering under his breath about no common courtesy these days.
Croix sighed. He felt like someone was laughing at him up `there'. He sat down at the table the waiter had placed him at and ordered something. He wasn't quite sure what he ordered, but everything had sounded really odd. When the food came, he wasn't quite sure he wanted to eat it. It looked even odder than it had sounded like. He poked it with a fork and it jiggled. He cleared his throat and pushed his chair back a little farther away from the dish.
He looked around for the waiter, but the man seemed to have disappeared. He stood up awkwardly and looked around for the bathroom. He finally spotted a door and decided that he might as well take a look. He stood up and made his way to the door. No one seemed to pay much attention to the young man as he squeezed around their tables. Croix breathed a sigh of relief as he managed to get to the door. He tried the door handle, and found it unlocked. He stepped inside and was engulfed in darkness.
"... Um... Hello?" he called out cautiously.
He fumbled along the wall for a light switch but his hands found just smooth surface. He knew it was against his better judgment, but took a few wary steps forward. He saw a faint light ahead and headed towards it. He gasped and shielded his eyes with his hands as the light intensified suddenly. All his instincts told him to run away, but a strange hidden curiosity made him walk forward even further.
The light had dulled again, but it was growing brighter by the second. It was a soft golden glow, illuminating the darkness and letting Croix see the walls around him. They were awfully close to him. He felt slight claustrophobia, but forced himself to calm down. The light grew impossibly bright again, and he was almost blinded. He reached out with an arm, the other shielding his eyes. His fingers brushed against a cool surface. It didn't feel familiar at all. It felt like one would imagine a cloud would feel, but it also felt powerful and elegant. The power felt ancient and mysterious, but there was a strange regal presence...
It grew warmer and the light seemed to fade. Croix opened his eyes and let his arm drop to his side. He found himself staring at a large golden fire. It burned with a dull light now, but he knew that it was the cause of the blinding light that had been there seconds before. It was almost burning his fingers now, and the light was almost all gone. Croix tried to pull his hand away but it was plastered firmly against the strangely solid flames as if it didn't want to or could not leave.
The flames shot to the ceiling of the small room, the shadows making it seem like the room went far past the visible walls. The fire itself didn't look like it could fit within them. The flames licked the walls and ceiling, but they did not burn. The temperature on his hand also went down to almost freezing. He shivered and yanked his hand away, which now he had control over again. His whole arm felt numb from those seconds of contact with the freezing flames.
The flames died down again, and the room once again became hot. Croix started to back away, but tendrils of flames wrapped around his wrists, neck, and waist, holding him firmly in place. He tugged at the flames, wincing as they burned him. Two eyes glittered in the flames, blinking sparks from their sight. A mouth appeared next and Croix pulled harder to get away. The strange entity smiled wickedly. Croix froze where he was, feeling petrified.
"W-Who are you?!" Croix shouted.
It smiled and shook a flaming finger in front of his face. "Shh..." it whispered in a hiss.
"W-What are you?" Croix asked.
The creature narrowed its eyes and growled at him. "Shh!"
"... Will you let go of me?"
The creature snarled, and the flames that held Croix lifted him to the ceiling. Flames exploded around him and he cringed in fear. "Be quiet!" the flaming creature roared.
It fell silent a second later, shutting its mouth tight. The screaming rage it had a moment ago disappeared altogether, but the echoes of its yell remained. Soon those died as well and the creature brought Croix back to the ground. It closed its eyes and seemed to be deep in thought. Croix was still held within the clutches of the flames and he nervously tried to push them away from his body.
"Who are you human?" the creature finally said with a soft hiss that sounded like a sigh.
Croix wasn't sure if he should say anything, but again that hidden curiosity got the better of him. "Croix." he murmured.
"Hmm..." the creature hissed, looking thoughtful again. The two burning orbs that were its eyes studied Croix carefully. "How old are you, Croix?"
"Twenty..." Croix said nervously, wondering if his curiosity about this creature was going to get him killed. He already felt like everything he had said so far was the wrong answer.
The creature smiled suddenly, but it disappeared within that second it had come. "How did you find me?"
//Believe me, it was not intentional.// "I was... Looking for the bathroom..." Croix said with his mouth half closed. It came out quite muffled.
The creature shook with laughter and turned what seemed to be its head to the side. "So you don't know who I am, do you?"
"No... Was I supposed to?"
The creature let out a series of chuckles which sounded like crackles and snaps. (A/N: Agh, I can not think of another way to say this! Stupid cereal...) "Perhaps..." it started slowly, "You don't need to know right now... But, for now... I need to rest."
The creature disappeared from sight and Croix collapsed as the thing that had been holding him up vanished physically as well. He stood up shakily and looked around as if he expected it to reappear any moment. A sharp whistle rang by his left ear and he whirled to face an empty wall. A golden flash zoomed right at him and hit him in the chest. He gasped, expecting it to hurt, but it felt like nothing. He stood there for a minute, stunned. Warmth spread throughout his body, followed by a series of chills. He felt the front of his shirt. It felt neither hot or cold, just warm from his body heat. He let out a breath he wasn't aware that he had been holding and took a step backwards. Then he turned and ran out of the room that wasn't a bathroom... And right out the door of the restaurant.
The waiter looked up from the menu he had been holding and saw Croix dash past and leave the store. He stood still for a moment before giving a shout. "Hey! You haven't paid!"
---
Seks sat against the wall, not moving any part of his body but his eyes. He let his gaze drift to the right where Caizer stood. Caizer was drinking a red liquid from a glass, quite sloppily. It was dripping onto his shirt and all over the floor. Caizer seemed to pay no attention to it at all and Seks didn't really care. Caizer's breathing started to become heavier and finally he dropped the glass and strode over to Seks. Seks stared at him lifelessly a moment before he lunged forward and slammed against an invisible barrier of some sort. Seks snarled softly while Caizer chuckled.
"You're actually quite entertaining, hybrid."
"And you're quite messy." Seks grumbled.
Caizer licked his lips slowly, watching with pleasure as Seks looked away. "And, you're scared of me."
"Am not!" Seks hissed, whipping his head back to glower at Caizer.
"Is the little hybrid getting antsy in his little box?" Caizer taunted with a laugh before turning and walking away to the other side of the room to a table. "Hungry?"
"No!" Seks shouted, trying to convince himself he really wasn't.
Caizer smirked. "I can hear fine, you don't have to yell."
Caizer picked up a thin string that was lying on the table and twirled it around a little before it snapped and broke into a million pieces that fell all over the floor. It was a tangled web. Caizer gently touched one of the fragile strings and then yanked it violently towards him. Seks fell forward and groaned softly. His muscles bulged as he tried to force himself from the ground, but he couldn't move an inch. Finally he let out a gasp of exhaustion and gave up.
Caizer made a pleased sound and pulled another string. Seks grunted in pain as his wings were pulled upwards, while the rest of his body seemed to be super glued to the floor. He gritted his teeth and squeezed his eyes tightly shut. //Please don't let me cry...// His wings felt like they were being ripped out of his shoulders. Finally he shrieked and the painful tugging on his wings disappeared.
"You're my little bitch right now, aren't you?" Caizer murmured thoughtfully. He laughed softly when Seks struggled to get up and couldn't. "You're sort of a stupid one aren't you?"
Seks didn't say anything. He laid there absolutely still, his muscles aching and his heart racing. He closed his eyes, exhausted. //I am going to kill him...// He listened as footsteps came closer. He winced as he felt Caizer grab a handful of his hair. He vowed even stronger and fiercer that he'd kill the bastard.
"Now... Stixx is really interested in you. Normally he'd take you as his partner, then kill you and that would be all over... But, he wants you back to `normal'. I've seen you `normal', and I don't find anything special about you at all." Caizer said as if talking to himself. "You're not strong, you're not really all that pretty, and... Well, you're stupid."
"I'm smarter than you." Seks grumbled, barely able to breathe. It felt like his lungs were being crushed.
"You don't mind if I take a seat, do you?" Caizer asked innocently. He smiled when Seks was unable to answer. Caizer walked away and sat down. "So, what is this about an owner? I'd love to meet him."
Seks growled automatically, not aware that he probably shouldn't have been able to make a sound. Caizer looked mildly pleased that he had found a subject that was important to the hybrid.
"Maybe we'd get along? Perhaps we'd have some fun later too. I mean, you wouldn't mind, would you? If I gave your master a nice... Fuck?"
"DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HIM!" Seks roared, launching himself from his previously paralyzed position (A/N: ah, an alliteration).
Caizer remained calm. "Possessive, aren't we? Well, at least I found your breaking point."
Seks picked up the large table next to him, which happened to be attached quite firmly to the wall and floor, and threw it with all his might at Caizer. It fell to pieces just before it reached Caizer. Seks saw that Caizer was playing some sort of cat's cradle with his string. Seks took a few steps forward, but Stixx leapt down in front of him, blocking his way to Caizer.
Seks glared at the lilac-colored eyes, which were slowly growing darker. Seks narrowed his own eyes, the slit down the middle spreading itself to reach the outer slits of his dragon eyes. "I hate you..." Seks whispered.
He lunged forward, tackling Stixx. Stixx threw him off easily and looked bored. Seks growled and lunged at Stixx again, dodging back instinctively when Stixx reached to grab him. Seks expected Stixx to react negatively to this, but Stixx smiled instead.
"Do you want to do that again?" Stixx asked, his smile turning wicked.
Seks spread his wings and stared at Stixx with hatred burning in his eyes. His tail flicked back and forth. Stixx turned around, his back to Seks. Seks felt even angrier. Stixx was mocking him... Oh, he'd pay! The next thing he knew Stixx had grabbed his arm and was twisting it painfully. Seks let out an infuriated cry and tried to get his arm free.
Stixx couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. "What's wrong with you? I know you can easily get out of this. Don't tell me---Ahh!"
Stixx found himself flying through the air, without the use of his wings. Stixx managed to break his fall without severely damaging himself. He turned to look at Seks, but Seks wasn't there anymore. A heavy weight landed on him and Stixx had quite a hard time wrestling the crazy and furious hybrid off and pinning this strange and outstanding new strength beneath him.
Stixx panted as he stared into the golden eyes. They were feral and dangerous. Not what he was expecting. There was no fear or uncertainty in them. There was only pure animalistic fury. Fury at being caged or forced or broken perhaps. No, not broken. Seks was not broken. He had plenty of spirit left in him, and it called to Stixx suddenly.
Stixx licked his lips as he stared down at the defiant hybrid. No, those eyes showed that Seks was not broken. He wanted to break them though. Stixx smiled cruelly, pleased to see that Seks was not afraid. He leaned all of his weight forward to crush Seks hands to his chest. He freed one of his own hands from Seks iron grip and touched the smooth skin near one of the golden eyes.
"Lovely eyes you have. Would you mind if I ripped them out and took them to keep for my own?"
"Why?" Seks snarled, his voice harsh and barely familiar at all. "Do you wish to blind me?"
"I just don't want to see those jewels glaring at me."
"They'd still glare at you, even if I had no control over them." Seks hissed, slowly pushing his arms free against a weight that should have easily snapped his wrists.
Stixx stared at Seks a moment, studying the strange hybrid that made absolutely no sense to him. He leaned forward and kissed Seks on the lips. Seks seemed paralyzed. From fear or disgust, or perhaps something else. He stayed absolutely still until Stixx broke the kiss. Then he forced his arms free and wrapped them around Stixx's throat.
"Die."
Stixx laughed until Seks tightened his grip, seriously attempting to crush his throat. "Can I?" Stixx asked, forcing himself to swallow.
//Can you kill something that isn't alive in the first place?//
