Link smiled to his young friend with an effort, Jay really was good for his age, but he couldn't get himself to praise the young boy's talent right now.

But Link listened to Jay's proud bragging with a friendly smile and threw in a comment here and there.

"You did very well, Jay" Link told the boy and gave him a gentle pat on the back. Jay seemed to get twice as high as normal there he stood and straightened his back. Jay put the 'magical' fairy slingshot, as he called it, back in this pocket and crossed his arms.

"I told you I was!" He said with a grin.

Link cast a nervous glance over his shoulder to see if Dark Link still were there, and he was. The Dark Link seemed to cower as soon as he felt The hero of time's eyes on him. His ruby eyes shining through the darkness of his hood.

"Hey, Jay!" Link exclaimed, and hoped that it sounded like he just remembered something. He gave his head a hard smack, and said; "Shiiit! You know what I have forgotten?"

"What, Link?" asked Jay, and giggled at Link's weird behaviour.

"Impa asked me to get some arrows for her, we just ran out of em' in Kakariko!"

Now, that was a big lie, and Link felt very bad for telling something un-true to the little boy, they had plenty of arrows in stock, but it couldn't be helped, he'd rather lie then get the little boy hurt.

Link rolled his blue eyes and filled his cheeks with air, before he whistled it out again "You know how she is like, who knows what shell do to me if I return without them!" Jay nodded in sympathy.

"yeah, I know.. you better hurry if you wanna buy those arrows before it closes!

I have to help my dad in the shop anyway" Jay told him with a low moan.

"See you later, thanks for letting me shoot!" The little boy thanked before running out of the shooting ally. Link let out a breath he didn't know he was holding and turned on his heels as soon as the door closed behind Jay.

He started to walk towards Dark Link slowly, not wanting to appear suspicious.

How was he supposed to get Dark Link OUT of the house without making the other adults think that he was hurting the elf? He could only pray that The shadow child would come willingly.

"Hello, Dark Link" It was odd to call someone else by his own name, it just wasn't right.

Link laid a hand on the small shoulder, and to Link's surprise, it was a very thin shoulder, much thinner then his own at that age. Dark Link retreated from Links touch with a frightened growl, a desperate hope of appearing angry, but in vain.

"We're gonna take a walk outside." Link's voice was hard, it wasn't a suggestion, it was an order.

Dark Link cast a desperate look at all the people in the room, but they were busy chatting loudly or commenting on each others shooting. It was then the shadow decided to speak.

"I'll scream!" The little boy hissed, The voice was familiar, it was is own...Maybe a little darker, but very much like his own. The threat didn't scare Link, He knew that this was Dark Link's last and Desperate struggle to get away.

"No, you won't!" Link snapped angrily.

"If you scream, we'll be taken to the castle, and guess who's in the castle?

Zelda is!" He grabbed Dark Links shoulder again, harder this time.

Hoping that people in the room would think that Dark Link was his son, or maybe his little brother, because of their very alike features.

"We're leaving" he pushed the shadow towards the exit, Dark Link didn't resist... much...

When Link closed the door behind him he let out a deep and relived sigh, and grabbed one of Dark Link's small hands ' Now to somewhere a little more private ' Link thought, and dragged the child with him towards the back ally.

But now Dark Link decided put up a fight, he tried to pull his small hand out of Link's iron grip with sharp tugs, but for each tug Link's hand tightened around his wrist, it didn't help, he just hurt himself doing that, so he started to snap his teeth, trying to bite the hand that denied him his freedom.

Link cried out in pain as small and sharp fangs sank into the back of his hand.

He let go of Dark Link witch a surprised yelp, and the shadow child dashed away from him. The Hero of time let out a steam of colourful curses and ran after him, but felt a little embarrassed when most of the people who were at the market gave him weird looks

' I'm gonna kill him!' Link thought angrily as he passed the guard who guarded the entrance to hyrule market, but Dark Link was already over the castle bridge.

"Damn! He's fast!" Link wheezed.

8 years ago he would easily have caught up with him, but now when there was no dangers that threatened Hyrule, and he allowed himself to be lazy, he did not have the stamina to outrun the little devil. So he pulled out his ocarina of time and tried to play Epona's song.It was pretty had to play when he was running, so he had to play it at least four times before he got it right.

Dark Link was running towards Kakariko, he saw that now, closest village to hide in.

His speed had rose, probably because he knew that Epona was on her way. Link felt his sides sting, and his breathing became harder by the second. How could that kid keep it up?

"Thank Din!" exclaimed Link when he heard Epona coming from behind him. His good old girl didn't let him down even if he didn't own he anymore. He threw himself on the horse, while he saw Dark Link disappear up the stairs to Kakariko.

"Lets go, girl!" Link dug his heels into Epona's sides and she galloped towards the village and up the stairs with no problems. Link's idea was to grab the boy when he passed him, then launch him onto the horse with him.. But then something happened...

Dark Link suddenly disappeared into the shadows by the gates to the village! That made Link slam on the brakes in surprise. Epona reared and threw the hero off her back. Link landed on his rear with a pained cry, but quickly pushed himself up in a sitting position and rubbed his back.

'were did he go? '

Link looked in all directions, but he didn't see the Dark elf anywhere.

Link cursed and hit the ground with his fist 'Darn! He can blend into shadows!'

His sharp Hylian ears picked up Dark Link's heavy breathing, but it wasn't enough to tell him exactly where the boy was.

He took out his lens of truth and saw through it.

"There you are!" He exclaimed as he spotted Dark Link, He was on his way through the shadows of the trees. The shadow cried out in surprise and fear, before he threw himself out of the shadows and ran deeper into the village.

"Shit!" Link got to his feet and ran after him, his ass stung so badly that if he hadn't known better he'd thought that Impa had used it a pin cushion

"Stop you little brat! I'll shoot you in the back! I swear!"

"What's going on out here?!"

Impa who had heard all the noise came out from the house she was staying in.. And Nabooru was following right behind her.

She saw Dark Link, and he saw her.

"Dark Link!" Nabooru's voice was surprised.

'what is SHE doing here??' Link asked himself mentally. Naboruu seemed to know Dark Link, and Dark Link her, because the Shadow child had suddenly stopped, and had started to run AWAY from her.

"Noo! Leave me alone!" The shadow elf's voice was hoarse from tiredness and his whole body ached, he almost couldn't get himself to turn and run upwards to the gates that lead to the mountains, His speed had dropped dramatically and he was now easy to catch up with. Link threw his arms around the shadow, who started to squirm and struggle wildly. Then he suddenly went Limp.

Link swallowed hard, fearing that he had killed him somehow, but Dark Links had breathing, told him that the boy was still alive.

Link sucked in a deep breath, and winced.

His back and sides stung like hell, and his throat was dry as a desert.

The only thing that lulled his pain was that Dark Link possibly felt worse.

"Let me go" The plea was followed by a weak struggle, but Dark Link was way too tired to put up a fight. Link swallowed, and suddenly felt bad, Dark Link was very skinny, his body felt fragile,

Link feared that if he squeezed him harder, then the boy would brake.

Sure, he had caught him, but there was no way he could bring himself to hurt a child.

"Well done, Link!" Naboruu's strong and gloved hand gripped his shoulder.

The gerudo queen's voice seemed to startle the little boy in his arms, because Dark Link whimpered loudly and tried to free himself.

"I've been looking for this little monster for a while now!" The thief told him.

Link cocked an eyebrow.

Had The gerudo known that his dark twin still was alive?

"You knew?" Link asked.

Naboruu laughed a loud and sharp laughter, it didn't seem sincere.

Link felt Dark Link's little body tense and shake violently.

"Yes, I've been looking for this little bastard since he plundered my temple!

Which was two months ago, and now I want the pendant he stole BACK!" Naboruu spat out the last word and grabbed Dark Link by the hood of his cloak.

A sharp gasp was torn from Dark Link's throat as Naboruu tugged him sharply out of Link's arms and into the air.

"And then I'll kill him, trash like him isn't worth the bother to look after!" She hissed through clenched teeth, and brought Dark Link's face close to hers.

"Give it to me!"

Dark Link shut his eyes tightly and turned his head away.

Naboruu growled loudly and punched him in the gut, making The little boy gasp and Link grimace.

"T-This is why d-daddy didn't like y-you!" Dark Link stuttered out, his voice low and hurt.

"Y-You e-even helped THEM seal him inside the realm!, I thought y-you loved us, you said y-you did!" the shadow child sniffed and looked straight into Naboruu's eyes.

"But y-you b-betrayed us!" A single tear tickled down the child's pale cheek, making Link bite his lip and feel slightly guilty.

There was something about Dark Link's eyes, something new that wasn't there before, something else mingled with the sadness.

But Naboruu was unaffected by the tears and gave Dark link a new punch, making blood run down his chin from a split lip.

"HA! You and your `daddy' can go straight to hell!, He's gone, and so will you be!

But first I want that pendant!" Another punch.

"I'll never give it to you!" Dark Link's voice was now loud and clear, rage was quickly replacing the fear he felt for the gerudo.

"Daddy told me to never give in to dirt like you!"

Naboruu chuckled, the tone drove cold shivers up Link's back.

"Dirt, am I?" Her eyes narrowed, and the smirk disappeared from her lips.

She slammed her fist into Dark Link's ribs, bruising them badly before dropping the child to the ground and held him down with one foot.

"For me it is a mystery that Ganondorf even bothered to take care of you! You don't show any potential at all, YOU are worse then dirt, you don't even have a life of your own, you are nothing!

"There is no way anybody can love a monster like you, he used you!"

Link flinched at Naboruu's harsh words and clenched his fist's tightly.

He knew that Dark Link once had been the enemy, by for haven's sake he was just a child!

"No!" Dark Link buried his face in his arm's before sobbing sorrowfully into the sleeves of his tunic.

"No! He loved me! He still does! I don't care what you say, I know he loves me!" The little boy repeated the words desperately, making Link's heart ache painfully.

But it only made Naboruu angrier, she dug her heel into Dark Link's spine forcefully, Making the boy gasp in pain, but not cry out.

Link was unconsciously biting his lower lip, one part of him really wanted to help the little boy, but an angry little voice inside of his head told the hero that this was exactly what Dark Link deserved. He couldn't find it in his heart to kill him, so now Naboruu did it for him.

"Enough chit-chat!" Naboruu grabbed Dark Link by his collar and tugged him to his feet.

"That pendant is MINE! And I will get it!" The gerudo queen took a look around and cursed silently, People of the village had begun to stop up and watch with critical eyes, the only thing that held them in the place was their fear for the gerudo.

"Come Link, Let's take this trash inside!" She tugged at Dark Links collar and started to drag the boy towards Impas house.

But that's when Dark Link stopped being co-operative.

If Naboruu got him within the four walls of a house, then he was as good as dead!

He dug the heels go his boots down into the soft soil, and resisted with all the powers he had got left in his small body.

"You're not going anywhere!" Naboruu yelled, slightly surprised over the strength Dark Link showed after such a beating. Her fingers were like iron, there was no way he was going to escape..
