Josh had just finished his meal, and was hoping that he’d done well. Not just for the promise of what better things might come that night, but because he wanted to impress her as much as possible, and wanted her to feel good about the lesson she’d just given to him. He didn’t say much, but he smiled to try and reassure her, and himself. Mary just sat there, a slightly evil grin on her face, she was pretending to count his flaws, and his good moves.
“Hmm...9, 10, 11...12...I think I can easily point out 12 good things you did that really stuck out. Not bad for your first try, Josh...and of course, I owe you 12 minutes of kissing tonight now...I guess you had a reason to do well.” She blushed a little bit and smiled.
Josh grinned. “You know, I planned on doing well whether or not I had anything promised to me. I guess that was just an extra incentive...either way, it was worth it to do so well...”
Mary was impressed that he wasn’t just doing it for the physical contact, and stood up smiling. She picked up the plates and silverware and put them in the sink. “I’m glad to hear that. I guess I’ll be keeping you after all...” Josh almost choked at that line. “But since I need to wash up a bit, how about you sit in the living room and occupy yourself for a bit...I promise I won’t be long!” She then came around to his side of the table and kissed his cheek, and ran upstairs to the bathroom, getting herself ready for the walk she had planned. She hadn’t told him about it, of course.
Josh was left at the table, blushing a little. He was a bit dazed, and it set in. After a few minutes, he shook it off and got up, heading into the living room. He’d only been sitting on the couch for about 4 minutes when Mary came back down. Nice and prompt, glad I didn’t have to wait too long.
“The bathroom is all yours, Josh...but try not to take that long, ok?” Mary hadn’t done too much, just washed her hands and face, and put on just a teeny bit of makeup. Josh could hardly see that it was there, but he could smell it a bit better. Either way, he was surprised, she seemed to look even more pretty than before. She had done up her hair just a bit, and she was blushing a little...he figured that she might be a little bit nervous.
Josh stood up and walked upstairs to the bathroom, but as he walked past Mary, he gave her a quick peck on the cheek and smiled. “You do look beautiful,” he whispered very quietly into her ear. Mary stood there and blushed even more, she felt her heart skip a beat, but then she smiled and did her best to relax.
Josh wasn’t going to take too long, he just needed to wash up a bit. Some warm water on his face and a bit of soap to get his hands cleaned was all it took. He looked so much more awake and alive. He went back downstairs and looked at Mary, giving her a very assuring look. She smiled confidently, and waited by the door for him. He wasn’t exactly sure what was up, but he just walked over to her. She nodded gently to his chest, and giggled a bit.
“We can’t have you going out into the park without a shirt on, can we? I just remembered...you haven’t worn a shirt since you got here.” She wanted to blush a bit at that, she’d subconsciously ignored it till now, but she could clearly tell that he wasn’t wearing a shirt. Apparently a rough life does wonders for your body , she thought.
Josh grinned a bit and nuzzled her. “I don’t think it’s a problem, besides, its nice outside...perhaps it’ll feel good to just take in the breeze.”
Mary nodded and opened the door, stepping out into the nice, warm weather. A cool breeze brushed a few locks of hair across her face, and she smiled, feeling so refreshed on the nice evening.
Josh was allured to that. She just looks so...so free and happy...its amazing. After such a weird and unfortunate life so far, how did everything change? I don’t even believe in luck...but what did I do to deserve her? I’d better just keep doing it.
Mary took his hand, both playfully, and making sure that he wouldn’t get lost somehow. She took them to the park, where they sat on a bench and watched the sun slowly set, and a very sweet conversation ensued. Josh was both confused and interested when he saw Mary holding a flower and blushing lightly.
“Um...Mary...why are you holding a flower? And where did you get it?” He asked her, full of curiosity.
She smiled at her and let him see it. “Actually, it’s a geranium...I thought it would be perfect for you...”
Josh looked back at her and blinked, surprised. “Call me clueless...but...I just don’t get it. Why is that?”
She tickled the side of his face with the flower. “Because, you seem to have had it kinda rough until now...and the geranium, in the language of flowers...represents strength and determination. It seems to have a lot in common with you.”
He blushed at the compliment, and at the soft tickle of the flower on his face. “I...um...thanks.” Not sure of what else to say, he kissed her cheek, hoping to emulate the same feeling for her. She blushed a little brighter and smiled.
“Josh, when you write poems...where do the words come from? How do you get the inspiration to write such things?”
Josh grinned, he almost thought she was kidding. “The inspiration is all around me...but I have a main source of it, of course. I think that every writer does...they all have that one thing that keeps their stories alive, that keeps their desire to write poems as a burning fire, rather than a dying ember...”
Mary poked his cheek. “A burning fire...much like the red tone in your face?” He even speaks in a poetic verse of sorts...she thought.
Josh only blushed more and looked away, smiling nervously. “Yeah...I guess its like that. Of course...the inspiration seems to have the same problem.”
Mary also looked away, just a little embarrassed, smiling much more softly than Josh was. For a while, they just sat there and looked off into the setting sun, until Josh turned back first, admiring Mary as she stared dreamily into the now nighttime sky. Stars had shown up just moments before, and a mystic, lunar light had appeared over both of them. Josh could see it, a pale whitish color glistened just off the surface of her fur. Josh sat there, staring at her, mostly mystified. Mary caught sight of this and turned to him, smiling. When Josh only reacted by blushing a little, she took her chance. Under the pale white moonlight, she leaned in and pulled Josh to her, fingers tickling just under his chin, and kissed him deeply. Josh quickly woke up, his eyes got huge, and his mind went into a whirl. Slowly he relaxed, his eyes fluttered down until they were closed, and his lips pressed fully to hers, his passion instilled into her lips.
The pair of blossoming lovers could hardly remember getting home. Josh was still a bit dazed on the whole walk home, and Mary was gently resting herself against him all the way back. As they walked in the door, however, consciousness was starting to set back in, and Josh remembered the deal they had made before.
“Hehe...Mary, you know what? You never kept up your end of the bargain...I don’t remember getting 12 minutes of kissing...”
She looked at him with a sarcastic grin. “You must’ve lost a track of time...we spent over two hours in the park...”
“Yes, you’re right...but we weren’t kissing the whole time, were we?” He was going to have quite a bit of fun with this.
“No...we weren’t. But...if I remember correctly, we were still kissing for about 15 minutes...so that’s more time than you earned!” She picked up a couch cushion and hit him playfully with it. “Cheater...you got more than you deserved!” She smiled innocently. It seemed odd that she could cause anyone any harm, even though she had only pretended.
“Hey!” He grabbed another cushion and hit her over the head with it, almost knocking her off the couch. He didn’t realize how strong he was, and while Mary wasn’t hurt, she was surprised. Josh laughed at first, and once Mary came back around, she giggled and felt his arm.
“With such a busy life...when did you find the time to get so strong?” She asked him, obviously just complimenting him to embarrass him a little. Josh blushed and hugged her tightly, showing off a bit. “Well...I guess it just comes with my line of work...” he replied.
“And that is?”
“Carrying you to the couch, apparently.” She smiled softly and hit him gently with the cushion, and he grabbed it from her hand, throwing it aside. His own eyes peered deep into hers, and she could see the desire he hid within. I get a feeling I know what he wants in the long run...but not tonight...she thought to herself. She could only think for so long, before Josh completely cut off her trail of thought. He leaned in under her neck and nuzzled her soft fur gently, then kissed the area, very gently. Mary was completely shocked, she wasn’t expecting him to make such a bold move, and a blush fell across her face. She was almost going to protest him to stop, but as Josh kissed further down her neck, she started to enjoy it a bit more, and sighed softly. Josh felt like he had a bit more control now, and used a bit more freedom in his actions. His tongue would often gently dart out and caress her skin softly, and he pressed his fangs just a bit into her neck. The soft sighs that escaped Mary’s lips soon escalated into gentle moans, and she felt like she might melt. She constantly pawed at his face, hoping to get him to slow down before they both got too carried away, but he mostly ignored it. It felt so soft, so playful to him, that he thought she was just messing with him. Finally, as Josh touched his fang to Mary’s collarbone, which nearly sent a shock through her whole body, she pulled away just a bit, breathing more heavily and sighing, doing her best to get her composure back. Josh looked a bit surprised.
“Josh...ahh...I’m sorry. I was quite enjoying myself...but...you were getting a bit too fast for me...please understand.” She was blushing bright cherry red now, a little embarrassed that she felt a need to stop.
Lucky for her, Josh understood completely. “Its ok...I was surprised I got as far as I did...I guess...my instinct kinda kicked in...and then I didn’t know what to do...heh...” he gently roused the back of his head and smiled softly, making sure to let her know that he was ok. I can wait, Mary...I can wait forever. Nothing feels good anyway...unless we both enjoy it.
“Thank you Josh...” she nuzzled him gently and let her body rest on his. Josh had taken more out of her than either one of them thought.
“Its no problem...” Josh nuzzled her back, cradling her head to lay in his chest, making sure she was comfy. He slowly drifted away into sleep after her.
Mary fell asleep only moments after Josh did. Thank you, Josh...that was amazing...and thank you even more for understanding. I will sleep with you for the night...I don’t want to let go of your warmth.
