Chapter Five “I Don't Wanna Rock”

Hazel was spread out on her bed, the covers having been kicked down so that is only covered one of her legs. An arm was thrown over her eyes and black hair was fanned over her pillow. She never once twitched as a group made its way into her room silently. Three small figures only the size of children and one tall figure snuck into her room one of them giggle but was shushed by one of the other ones. “Good Morning!” Came a shout and Hazel's eyes shot open only to meet sky blue ones and a slightly amused face. He smiled and raised an eyebrow looking her over “You sleep like a child” and raised an eyebrow. She looked down at herself spread out all over the bed. The covers had been twisted into a ball and kicked at the end of the bed and one of her legs was dangling off the bed and her shirt had rode up showing her stomach. Legolas reached over playfully and poked her belly button.

She slapped his hand away and pulled her shirt down giving a pouty face. He was laughing jovially to himself as she glared daggers in his direction. Hazel scowled sleepily and looked down to see Pippin and two other hobbits. “Good Morning Miss Hazel” said Pippin in his unusual little accent; “I decided we should all take you down to breakfast, decided to bring my friends along too” Hazel leaned up on her elbows, her hair in a gorgeous black mane all over. Pippin seemed completely oblivious to her morning anger. Legolas took a seat in a chair nearby as Pippin rambled on and Hazel look at him very un-amused. “This here's Merry and this is Sam” the cute, but chunky hobbit waved awkwardly at her giving a slight smile. Merry clapped Pip on the shoulder and smiled at Pip. “I'd say we leave and let her get dressed.” Pippin nodded excitedly and Legolas got up and followed the crowd out of her room. He got to about the end of her bed before he turned. “I'll see you at breakfast” she looked at him with her sleepy, scowly face that hadn't left her face and he laughed a little and left, she looked so cute in the morning.

It didn't take her long to get dressed and wash her face. She felt in a much better mood once she did this and quickly put her hair up in her bandana, leaving her hat off. Her black shirt was similar to her green traveling, under jacket only it was lighter. Hazel tied her baggy, khaki pants which where of the same material as her shirt only lighter, tying the matching belt in a knot holding her pants up. She looked alright she supposed, looking in the mirror, she wasn't gorgeous like many of the female elves she had seen but she supposed she was mildly attractive for their standards if she wore more form fitting clothing.

It had taken only 15 minutes for her to make it to the dining hall and smiled happily finding that she wasn't late and that she hadn't gotten lost. Many of the chairs were empty and only a few people were there. Legolas sat next to Elrond and his two comrades sat across from him. Farther down a few spaces was a handsome man with long brown hair chatting with a female elf and sitting near them sat a wizard and two dwarves. Many of the spaces were empty. She spied the three hobbits and also another one with a young and handsome face and blue eyes. He looked over at her and she smiled `That must be Frodo'. Pippin waved at her and Merry glared a little at Pip as he almost knocked a glass over in the process. Hazel smiled widely as she made her way over unsure of were she was to sit. Pippin waved her over and Legolas stood allowing her to sit in the empty chair between them. Legolas pulled the chair out for her and then pushed it in when she sat and then sat back in his seat next to her.

“Thank you” he looked over at her. “You look nice” she laughed “Oh please, you don't have to pretend. I know I don't cause I dress like a man” “You look just fine” he said “Well thank you anyway” she said. “Now!...whose idea was it to sneak in my room this morning and scare me!” everyone turned to Hazel at her rather loud statement. Hazel looked over at Pip rising and eyebrow playfully “IT WASN'T ME!” he said “It was HIS idea!” he pointed to Legolas who seemed to be hiding his face behind a glass as he drank. Elrond looked amused as Hazel pretended to glare angrily at Legolas who seemed to be having a good time. “I just couldn't help myself” he said trying not to laugh. Several of the other laughed and Hazel was secretly proud that her attempt at a joke had worked. Elrond chuckled a little “Why don't we begin now that everyone is here, besides, I hope I don't have to separate you two” everyone laughed again, the she-elf at the end of the table was laughing still long after and had her mouth covered. Hazel looked over at her. She was very beautiful but she supposed more female elves were…but what perplexed her was why she was at the table with them when she was the only other female besides her. She leaned over to Elrond “Who is that?” she pointed at the beautiful female at the other end of the table, Elrond leaned over to her closer “That is my daughter Arwen” she raised her eyebrows in surprise “Oh…Where is her mother…if I may ask” Elrond looked down somewhat sadly “She had to go to the undying lands” Hazel frowned “I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked. Forgive me” Elrond shook his head “It's alright, you may ask me anything” she nodded but thought twice before asking Elrond anything personal after that. He was so kind she didn't want to meddle and bring up bad memories.

Breakfast had been fun, everyone seemed to be in a good mood but as soon as the meal ended everyone slowly made there ways back to there room in order to get ready for the council meeting in a couple hours. Hazel hadn't talked to anyone other then the hobbits, Legolas and Elrond since she didn't know anyone and was too shy to ask and no one seemed to want to give that information. They seemed to leave her be and no one said anything to her although there were a few whispers she over heard about her reason for being there including one rather rude one by a dwarf thinking she might be a enemy, she rolled her eyes at this. A man at the end of the table with blond hair and scruffy stubble, who had arrived just this morning with his company from Gondor, kept looking at her in an odd way. Hazel wasn't too sure she liked the attention so she tried to focus most of her attention on the blond haired elf next to her.

Hazel walked down the hall next to Legolas; he had dressed in a long robe for breakfast and was now walking with her as she made her way to her room. His room was just down the hall so it wasn't out of his way to walk her back. “Quite an interesting group at breakfast don't you think” he chuckled a little and she laughed, opening her door and leaving it open as an invitation to anyone who wish to come in and visit. Legolas stepped in and sat down casually on the edge of her freshly made bed. Hazel's doing he was sure since she didn't like Elrond's maid staff fussing over her. Legolas blue eyes followed her as she rummaged through her bag. “Legolas…can I ask you a stupid question” he smiled “There's not such thing as a stupid question.” Hazel smiled over at him before returning her gaze back to her bag. “Are we friends?” he frowned a little “Of course…I don't usually break into strangers rooms and scare them from there sleep in the morning” he laughed. Hazel laughed a little then frowned

“I'm sorry, that was a foolish thing to ask…of course were friends” she laughed nervously. “AH HA!” she said in triumph pulling a hair clip out of her bag as well as her hair brush, she got up and went over to the large mirror, removed her bandana and started working a brush through her wavy, black hair. Hazel watched Legolas in the mirror. “Aren't you going to get ready for the council like everyone else?” he laughed “No, I'm ready. I figured I stay in here and talk with you” Hazel smiled, pulling her hair up and putting the clip in it. “That's nice” looking at her clip. “Thank you” she walked over and sat down on the bed looking over at him. “Soooo…what did you want to talk to me about?” Legolas looked over at her, his eyes scanning her face. “Why are you traveling?” Hazel frown and sighed “It's a long story…and come to think of it I don't recall telling you I was on a journey.” He nodded “You didn't, but news travels fast with elves since we hear so well” he laughed at this hoping she wouldn't be angry. “You were eaves dropping” “You walked by my room last night with Elrond…I only happened to catch part of you conversation. Are you angry?…if so I am sorry.” Hazel laid a hand on his shoulder, the soft silken fabric of his robe felt amazing against her fingers. She wondered absently what he'd looked like with it draping off his shoulders, his pale skin glimmering in the moonlight and his chiseled….. She shook her head returning to the conversation at hand, `Were friends…. Stop being a pervert'

“I'm not angry…But, would you think me a horrible person if I told you it was to get away from my over baring family.” She frowned hoping he wouldn't think any less of her. Legolas moved closer, she gasped a little unsure of what he was going to do before he turned and moved to her ear. “I know what you mean” he pulled back and smiled. Hazel hadn't realized she had closed her eyes but when she opened them he was staring at her quietly, a hand resting gently on her arm. “I didn't know anyone at breakfast today.” Legolas chuckled a little and allowed himself to fall back carelessly onto the bed, his blond hair fanning out on the dark green blanket. “What?” she smiled and leaned over to look at his face “Why do you laugh at me so much?” she was smiling. He wanted to touch those lips, and other things. He reached his hand up but stopped less then and inch away from her face. “We should go…” She breathed out, realizing she had been hold a big gulp of air “we should” he replied dropping his hand, he sat and then stood, taking her hand and pulling her up from the bed.

Hazel stared absently at the back of Elrond's head. She barely heard a word he said instead retreating into the back of mind and singing a song to herself. Hazel looked over him as he quite vividly moved his hands about while talking. Several of the members of the council shifted in there seats un-comfortably. Hazel had been seated in the back behind Elrond and two other elves who amazing enough…looked exactly alike. She looked over at one who stared seriously ahead but glanced over when he had felt her gaze on him. Hazel smiled at him and a small smiled tugged on his face in return. He then turned back to watching Elrond. Hazel sighed a little and stared around; Frodo had gotten out of his seat and placed a ring on a table in front of everyone. They all gasped or whispered to each other in surprise. The man from Gondor stood up excitedly, Hazel wasn't sure what all this talk of a dark lord or the one ring was but the presence of that one gold ring sitting in front of her overwhelmed her with of feeling of nausea. She clapped a hand over her mouth in order to hold down the bile rushing up down in her throat, burning.

Hazel was able to get under control and quickly recovered, glancing around to make sure no one had seen. No one seemed to be paying attention to her except a concerned look from Legolas who was frowning. `Are you ok' he mouthed to her and she nodded, he gave her a look which she remembered her mother doing a couple of time and then he returned his attention back to the council. Hazel gazed at the floor, still feeling a little dizzy. Her head snapped up when Legolas stood angrily and shouted something then one of the dwarves stood up. “I will be dead before I see the ring in the hands of an elf…NEVER TRUST AN ELF!” Hazel winced as everyone got up suddenly and started arguing, some even pushing each other, the sound making her feel sick again. Elrond stood up suddenly as did the two elves behind him and they went to go break up the fight. Despite all the pushing and shoving, No one dared touched the elf lord!

Hazel wasn't sure what to do, go over and help or stay were she was. Frodo was the only one besides her still seated. He seemed to be suffering with a migraine and looked as if he was going to have an anxiety attack any moment when he finally shot out of his seat. “I will take it! I will take the ring!” Everyone stopped and looked at him; Hazel smiled a little, admiring his courage. “But I do not know the way” Frodo looked around “I, I do…” came a meek voice. Hazel didn't know why she did it or what had possessed her to contribute such information willingly knowing about Mordor, but for some reason the courage of the small hobbit had also given her a voice. Everyone looked over to Hazel who sat quietly in her seat with her hand raised hesitantly. Gandalf who seemed to have a saddened look on his face walked over to Frodo placing a comforting hand on his small shoulder. “I will help you bear this burden as long as it is yours to bear.” The tall man she had seen earlier came over to the hobbit, they obviously knew each other. “By my hand or my sword, I will protect you. You have my sword” He kneeled down to the small hobbit.

“And my bow” Legolas stepped forward proudly, “And my axe” said a dwarf obviously trying to protect his dignity not wanting the elf to seem more brave them him. The man who had been staring at her earlier also stood. “You carry the fate of us all little one, but if it is the will of the council, then Gondor will see it done” Hazel scowled `little one! Who does he think he is Frodo is older then him'

Hazel stood up slightly infuriated by this mans patronizing and went over to stand with the new formed group. “I will go too” Elrond raised an eyebrow in question “WHAT! Is it because I'm a woman!” she yelled a little, Legolas raised his eyebrows…he'd never seen her angry, Thank goodness! “Not at all, the reason I'm surprised is that you are actually volunteering I thought for sure I was going to have to ask you myself later.” Hazel cocked her head; his eyes twinkled a little as if he already knew she was suppose to join the group long before she had even volunteered. This confused her a little. “Mr. Frodo's not going anywhere without me!” the chunky hobbit who seemed to be Frodo's best friend came running over

“I hardly believe anyone could accomplished to separate you too even when he is asked to attend a secret council and you are not!” Elrond raised an eyebrow “Hey! Where going too!” Merry and Pippin ran out of there hiding place over to the group. Elrond seemed even more surprised and the look on her face was so priceless many of the council members laughed. Gandalf seemed at lost for words. “You persons of intelligents on this sort of mission, quest…thing” Merry looked over un-amused “I guess that rules you out Pip” Elrond turned to them and seemed quite pleased with the group gather before him. Hazel couldn't help but smile. She felt a hand reach over unknowingly to everyone and grasped hers.

Her breath caught and she looked over to Legolas who seemed to not pay any attention to it, not drawing any notice to his action. Hazel did as he did and pretended not to notice as the wizard blocked them from the view of others. Legolas soft hands stroked over hers holding her hand firmly in his, his soft skin warm against hers. She smiled and glanced at him and he glanced back, smiling, his sky blue eyes boring deeply into hers. “Ten companions, you shall be the fellowship of the ring” but Hazel barely heard him but was completely hypnotized by blue. “Right…where are we going?” Pip said cluelessly.
