It hurt for her to breathe as she clutched her chest. Her breathing came slow and unsteady, as her eyes stayed closed from all of the pain. The medicine they had gotten for her from Merlin was said to heal her of her sickness with a price.
The pain.
She didn't scream
She didn't say a word
She just stood there, in her room, on her knees. She couldn't get up, she tried, but she couldn't.
She locked the door to her room, no one was to get in, it was true, she had been acting different, but she had her reasons.
If she was going to take in this pain, she was going to do did without Aerith screaming at her to stop the craziness. She had limits, she could admit that, but she denied wanting anyone to know.
The pain had gone on like this for five minutes now, just like the day before, they all knew what happened once the potion she had to drink took affect. Merlin had said it was normal. They had given up on the other doctor, she was no help, besides she knew they would want answers, so she fled.
Sky heard a soft knock on her door, "Sky, are you ok?" It was Rikku, her sister was worried, thought Sky now knew that her whole life was a lie, the people she thought were her parent's, weren't. The man she thought was her brother, wasn't. The girl she thought was her sister, wasn't. It all made her mad. When were the lie's going to stop?
"Yes" she choked out, deciding to lie herself. Rikku got into her room easily, they both had that trait of a thief, unlocking locks and padlocks, the hands of a thief.
"Your lying....those potion cause you so much pain" she gave Sky a sympathetic look. "Everything has a price" the raven-haired girl simply replied.
Rikku locked the door and sat down on the bed. "I'm sorry" she suddenly said.
"For what?" Sky asked, she wasn't stupid or anything, but there was alot to be sorry for.
"For everything. Keeping your real life a secret from you, telling you all these lies about us all being a family, telling you I was your sister when I really wasn't..."
"Before you came inside, I was thinking about that, and if you aren't my sister, then who is? Do I even have a sister? And for that matter, do I even have a brother?" Sky asked, if she was to believe everything, she would need the truth this time.
Rikku sighed, closing her bright green eyes and reopening them. "The truth is, you were an only child Sky. One part of your life was true, Sephiroth, he did kill your parents and he took you in, but as you grew older, you became wiser. With all the pain he gave you, you became stronger. You had all of this hidden power within you, and by the time he sensed it, you were already gone. And that's why he came back, to grip that power in his hands" Rikku replied.
"And where exactly, did you come in, in all of this?" Sky asked, no longer feeling the pain from the potion.
"Me. I was strolling around your town and heard the local villagers speaking of how this young girl goes through so much, yet she still has a smile on her face" Rikku smiled, "So you used to smile eh?" she asked.
"Hn, that's not the point. And if you wanna know, yes, and I still do, just now as much, shows how soft I've gotten" Sky replied.
Sky stood up and dusted herself off. She walked out of her own room, leaving Rikku to look like an idiot, or follow her, which she did.
Sky knew where she was headed, to look for the others, she knew where they were. She walked down the stairs, Rikku following right behind her. Now in the hallway, she began to rush, seeing if Rikku was as fast as her, a little game to see if Rikku had any agility felt in her from the past years that have gone by.
"Hey, your too fast" Rikku complained, trying to catch up. She smirked, Rikku wasn't fast enough, but she had gotten faster then before. Yeah, it was wrong to run in the hall, but this wasn't a school, so why not?
She was about to turn the corner, but she felt an arm go around her waist and pull her back a bit. She didn't need to look up, she knew who it was. Rikku caught up with the two.
"Aww, Riku, what are you holding her back for? We were having fun" Rikku complained, in her childish voice.
"We're going down to the Café, Sora's treat" Riku replied, looking down at Sky who hadn't said a word since he stopped her.
"Are you ok?" he asked, this was not normal for her.
"No. Does Kairi have to come?" she asked looking up, into his eyes.
He sighed, "Why can't you two just get along?" he asked.
"Because if that ever happened, hell would have already been frozen over. It's like Cloud getting along with...with Sephiroth." Sky exclaimed.
"Can't you just try?" Riku asked. It was Sky's turn to sigh. "Stupid fake charm" She mumbled under her breath. He, of course heard this, and laughed at how childish she was being.
They others we're already at the café, as Riku lead the two girls. Sky kept mumbling under her breathe of how she didn't even want to breathe the same air as Kairi and how Kairi came from hell. Nothing had changed between them, sure, they didn't fight for Riku anymore, because Sky had won, but they were still mean to each other.
They reached the Café to see everyone was waiting patiently for them. "Hey, over here" Yuffie said, smiling. Unfortunately for Sky, who was already angry, passed Kairi who was sitting with Sora, and saw an enraged look in Kairi's eyes. She paused right in her tracks, "If you have something to say, then say it" She was tired of dealing with her. Kairi stood up, her blue eyes showing hatred. Sora tried to stop her, but she gave him a look that told him to back off. And so he did.
"Ok then, I'm tired of you being such a bitch all the time" Kairi yelled, right in Sky's face.
"Oh, like your not a bitch yourself? The way your always looking at yourself in the mirror, I'm surprised it's not broken yet" Sky retorted, in her coldest voice. She didn't care that the people near by were watching, nor that the other customers were either.
In an instant she felt the pain of Kairi's hand come across her cheek. And she had heard Aerith, Rikku, Yuna and Yuffie as they gasped at what Kairi had done. Sky's hand softly touched her right cheek, this type of pain brought even more pain from such memories of similar things that had happened to her in the past.
She was enraged, more then ever now. Her hand went down to the sheath by her side, the sheath that held her katana. "You would dare..." Kairi was now frightened, she knew Sky was one to get mad, but mad enough to kill?
There was something in Sky's eyes, a mist, that said she wasn't lying, but then there was that glazed look, that said she was.
"Wouldn't I?..." she questioned, her voice, haunting. She was about to hurt this girl in front of her, but strong arms had suddenly wrapped around her waist and she couldn't move. She knew who it was, she knew his touch, always gentle, always calm, but this time, she needed to prevent it from holding her back. She had had enough of Kairi, she could no longer hold her furry.
"Let me go Riku" it was more of a command then a plea. "No, you'll hurt her" Riku replied.
"Exactly" Sky said, struggling her hardest to loosen herself from his grip, but he wouldn't let go.
She wasn't thinking, she didn't know what she was doing, and it was her blindness that made her do what she was going to do.
In one move, she escaped his arms, turned around, and punched him in the face. She returned to her normal self, she took a look at what she had done to her lover. His lip was bleeding, and she had done it. She hadn't meant to, she was to angry to know what she was doing. She hadn't known.
She took in a sharp breathe.
"I'm...sorry" her whisper was heard by him and only him. She took a step back, pushed everyone away as she ran, she didn't know where she was headed off to, but she needed to escape her hell. All of it, all of the pain, the horror, the refuge she once had. She had made the mistake of being careless, and this is where it got her to.
