Chapter 12: Battle of Unity

 

“You are strong kid, but my master is the one who commands everything” said Kemdal.

 

“Are you a Dabus?” asked Neiki.

 

“Well, I wouldn't call me yet a Dabus, but I work for them” said Kemdal with a smile.

 

“You sold your pride of Numbus to some fool. Numbus are here to maintain order, not destroy it. We are here to help people, not kill them!” said Neiki.

 

“Straight from a text book. You are too young and naïve to know anything. You are too innocent. But every man has a weakness, and it's power. We all want more power, be it through money, physical strength or political advantage. Power is all that matters. I decided to the path of physical strength, to become the stronger I can be and serve my lord.” said Kemdal.

 

“Who is that Lord of yours?” asked Neiki. “Ahh, what will it matter if I tell you, if you are going to die” said Kemdal.

 

Both of them stare at each other.

 

“Wind Tunnel” said Kemdal calmly. He extends both of his arms pointing towards Neiki. Neiki opens his eyes widely. Suddenly a blast is shot. He is then surrounded by wind.

 

“What the hell is this!” said Neiki. He tried moving outside but the wind did not allow him.

 

“DIE!” yelled Kemdal as he jumped toward the center of the tunnel. He dived all the way towards Neiki. Kemdal punched Neiki in the stomach. Then he grabbed him by the neck and threw him towards a tree. Then spikes appeared from Kemdal's gauntlets.

 

“Darn..” said Neiki. Kemdal then ran towards him and with a straight punch he hit Neiki in the stomach once again. This time blood began flowing out of his stomach.

 

“Like the spikes?” asked Kemdal. He then pulled the spikes out and a burst of blood came out.

 

“There, see if the chain armor can help you now” said Kemdal. Neiki then fell to his knees.

 

“Loser” said Kemdal with a smile. Neiki slowly began to stand up.

 

“Damn you!” said Neiki as he let go a punch. Kemdal evaded it and with his knee he hit Neiki once more in the stomach.

 

“Rock Spikes!” yelled Neiki. Spikes appeared from the ground and where shot towards Kemdal, but his armor was too strong.

 

“I said it would not work” said Kemdal. Kemdal then grabbed Neiki by the hair and then began to punch him in the face. After a few hits he let go Neiki. His numb body fell to the ground.

 

“I am at a superior level than yours. Don't try anything funny. But you know, I am in quite a hurry now. I need to finish you off.” said Kemdal.

 

Meanwhile, Neiki began to think.

 

“All my training... all I worked so hard for” thought Neiki.

Neiki began to remember when he was a kid. All sweaty, punching a bag.

 

“Neiki, are you still training? It's late!” said his father, a tall man, about 40 years old that looked like an older self of Neiki.

 

“Father, I want to become stronger so I never lose a fight!” said a kid Neiki.

 

“Kid, you need to remember one thing. You will not always win your fights, there will always be someone stronger than you. But, that is alright. You will work harder so you surpass that stronger person.” said his father.

 

“But father, if I lose I will dishonor the Kurogane clan.” said Neiki.

“That is of no concern. Our clan is already one of the top in the whole world, if we lose a few fights it won't damage us. Never, absolutely never, think of winning for the clan. Just think of winning for yourself, always.”

 

Then another flashback came, this time he was a teenager, about 12.

 

“Neiki, you are incredibly strong.” said Samari. “Thanks...” said a shy Neiki.

 

“You are so shy. Sometimes you need to let go off that!” said Samari. “Well, I only get shy when there are cute girls close to me” said Neiki.

 

Samari's cheeks turned red.

 

“So, you mean... I am cute?” said Samari with a smile.

 

“Duh yeah! You are possibly the cutest girl in the whole world” said Neiki.

 

“Now you don't sound so shy. Know what? Remember this, when you fight always think of me. If you like me, then you will have the strength to stand up to anything. Think of that, as a motivation.” said Samari as she stood up and went away.

 

“Who said I liked her? I only think she is cute. Sheesh, girls always think the wrong” thought Neiki.

 

Then everything got dark.

“Dammit. Just thinking of her gives me some of my strength back. I don't like Samari! Well, I think so. Damn my mind is so confused! Why, why can't I win! Dad I am doing as you told me! Why can't I win!!” said Neiki as Kemdal grabbed him by the hair once more.

 

“Dad! I am thinking of myself not of the clan! But I want to fight, I can't lose this important fight! I don't know why, I have bought my team time! But I still want to beat this loser!!” thought Neiki.

 

“Any last will?” asked Kemdal with a smile. “Fuck you!” yelled Neiki. “I can't do that!” said Kemdal as he laughed.

 

Then he prepared a punch, coming from behind. When he let go of the punch, it suddenly stopped.

 

“Why can't I move my arm!” said Kemdal.

 

“Let go of him!” said Samari as she walked from behind, with her arm extended.

 

“Who are you..” said Kemdal as he struggled.

 

“Let go!” yelled Samari. She extended her other arm. Then Kemdal let go of Neiki's hair.

 

“Samari..” though a knocked out Neiki.

 

“Fool!” yelled Kemdal as he broke free of Samari's psychic waves.

 

“Damn, he is strong!” thought Samari.

 

Kemdal did not lose a second to attack as he charged towards Samari.

 

He released a huge punch which Samari managed to avoid by moving to her left and crouching a bit. But Kemdal quickly attacked with his elbow hitting her in the face. He then did a kick, Samari crouched to evade it. Kemdal does turns around and with gets the other leg ready for a kick. Samari puts her arms in a cross form to receive the impact. The leg hits her arms and sends her back towards a tree. She hits the tree and immediately Kemdal charges towards her. Samari moves her arm in a diagonal way. A psychic wave is shot which stops Kemdal in his tracks and pushes him back.

 

“That won't stop me, psychic user” said Kemdal with a smile.

 

“WIND BLAST!” he yelled. A huge blast is shot.

 

“Force Shield!” yells Samari. The wind hits her shield, not harming her.

 

“You are skilled as well. You Hi Go kids sure are something” said Kemdal with a smile.

“Samari...” said Neiki.

 

“Neiki!” said Samari.

 

“I am thinking of you, and you know what.. I am standing up” said Neiki.

 

Samari then remembered the words she had told Neiki.

 

“Good, so I guess you like me” she said while breathing hard.

 

“Aww, we are getting all emotional now” said Kemdal as he turned and looked towards Neiki.

 

“Aw Screw you! These wounds won't stop me!” yelled Neiki. “What will you do!” said Kemdal.

 

“Onia Ryu: Fists of the Body!” yelled Neiki.

 

His body began to glow blue.

“What the hell is that!” thought Kemdal surprised.

 

Then Neiki charged towards Kemdal at full speed. Kemdal received a surprisingly fast hit in the stomach. Then the back of his leg got kicked and he fell down.

 

“Shit!” said Kemdal.

 

Neiki then hit the back of Kemdal's head with his elbow, crushing his face towards the mud. Then Neiki went ahead and tried to grab Kemdal to throw him towards a tree. As he grabbed Kemdal his wounds began to hurt more and bleed even more.

 

“Damn.. I can't!” thought Neiki.

 

“Too... slow!” said Kemdal. He then freed himself from Neiki.

 

“Psychic Hit!” yelled Samari. A huge blast of psychic waves hit Kemdal and sent him towards a tree.

 

He hit the tree and it broke and he continued to go further away.

 

“ROCK RISE!” yelled Neiki. With all the strength he had he made a rock rise besides Kemdal.

 

“ROCK SPIKE!” yelled Neiki. From the rock that had risen from the ground a huge spike appeared.

 

“WHAT!” yelled Kemdal. Samari kept pushing Kemdal even more. Kemdal tried to get free, but eventually in a second or two, he crashed on the spike. The spike passed through his body. He was stuck in the spike. A burst of blood came out from Kemdal's mouth.

 

“We got him!” said Samari.

 

“You... you... imbecile kids!” yelled a near dead Kemdal.

 

Samari helped Neiki stand up.

 

“You.. YOU!!! You...are... only... kids... How could... you do... this!” yelled Kemdal.

 

“You shouldn't have underestimated the power of two Numbus kids. Our ranks might not be too high, but if we work together we can win. Besides.. you thought you were unbeatable, you forgot that there was a psychic user. And another thing, I had some damn good motivation to beat you” said Neiki with a smile.

 

Immediately Samari's cheeks got red.

 

“Im-b-e-c-i.. le” said Kemdal as his head got numb and another burst of blood came from his mouth, He died.

 

“We killed him” said Samari surprised. “But we won...” said Neiki as he suddenly got unconscious. Samari immediately grabbed him.

 

“Let's return.. shall we” said Samari. She grabbed Neiki and walked away.

 

Meanwhile Roshika's team arrived at a good spot.

 

“Here, atop this hill. We can do the Matter Sparkle.” said Roshika.

 

“So, we finally can call help!” said Sandou. “Yeah...” replied Roshika.

 

“I hope they are alright” said Shana. “They will come back, victorious” said Nakaru. “I hope you are correct” said Shana. Meanwhile Roshika gathered Matter.

 

“I can feel the matter around me going towards him” thought Nyosuke.

 

After a few seconds Roshika let go a yell.

 

“MATERIA SPARKLE!” he yelled. A burst of light came from his arm, which was extended towards the sky. A huge ball of light was shot towards the skies. It illuminated the whole capital and could be seen for many hundred miles.

 

“Materia Sparkle, was it not called Matter Sparkle?” asked Shana.

 

“Materia is the old name for Matter. It is said that Materia is actually the core of the world. With time the name was changed to Matter.” replied Nyosuke.

“The core of the world?” asked Shana. “It is said that the core of the world is a big ball called Materia. From there comes everything.” replied Nyosuke.

 

“You are quite right” said a deep-breathing Roshika. The sparkle was still going on.

 

“That is the sparkle!” thought Samari as she walked the same path the others had walked.

 

In Hi Go An the sparkle was seen.

 

“EMERGENCY!” the speakers said.
